Request of password HARD drive at startup

I start the pc n told me to enter the HDD password

original title: hard drive password

Contact the manufacturer and they can probably tell you how to unlock the hard drive.  I don't know why he suddenly activated.

We cannot help you more because we are prohibited by Microsoft Policy assistance when lost or forgotten passwords; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/189126.

I'm sorry, but I did everything that I am accepted by referring to the manufacturer.

I hope they can help you.

Good luck!

  • Password HARD drive - is it really that safe?

Hello, I wonder just how secure is built in the password disk HARD, comments welcome. Thank you.

As far as I know the HARD drive password completely blocks the HARD drive.
It must be stored somewhere on the sector of the HARD disk. I'm not quite sure what sector it is, but the fact is that you cannot remove this password HARD drive if it s not known to you.
If you need to be very careful in using this HARD drive password.
If you have forgotten the password for HARD drive you can use the HARD drive no more!

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - error "password HARD drive built-in" at startup

Hi, my laptop (Satellite Pro 6100 P4 - M 1.7 GHz/15TFT/256 MB / 40 GB/DVD-CDRW/LAN/WiFi/BT/W2K or XP) started rather recently invited me with a "Built-in HARD drive password" message at startup upward. I never put no password on the hard drive in the past, though only in desperation to try to get the laptop running, have tried all the possible passwords I have ever had. Nothing works and I'm failed with a laptop dead on my hands. I would appreciate any help/advice anyone can make.

    Thank you.

    Hi Khurram

Unfortunately I think that you will need to replace your hard drive. If your laptop is definitely ask a HDD password then there is no way around it and the only way I know to recover from this situation is to send the hard drive to a specialised company that specialize in this kind of recovery (usually for forensic purposes, Police, armed forces, etc.). This can be very costly.

The easier (and cheaper) option would be for you to replace the hard drive and restore your system and your data (either from a backup if you have one, or from the Toshiba recovery disks).

    Kind regards

  • L50 satellite will not start up - request password HARD drive

    Hello

I hope someone can help me

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L50 and when I start it, it says
+ no boot device please don't restart System.

It is still under warranty because it was purchased only 6 months ago.
I took it back where I bought it and they told me to contact Toshiba.

    I'm waiting on a reminder.
I hope that someone can help you. He also asked that the HARD drive password.

Where can I find this information?

    Hi Kym

I guess the L50 Satellite cannot find the boot device (HARD drive), because the HARD drive was obtained with a drive password HARD and without this HARD isn't accessible disk password and the system does not start properly.

Did you set this password for HARD drive in the past?
I m request because this isn t password on new laptops. This HARD drive password can only be set by the owner of the laptop

Of my knowledge if you know n t this HARD drive password, you will not be able to access the HARD disk in such a case, the HARD drive would be useless, and the data would be lost

That's why I recommend you check if someone put the HARD drive on your laptop password where you n t know the password, you will need to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the system once more.

  • Satellite request password HARD drive

Last night, I restart my laptop. When I turned on it again and ask the screen to enter the HDD password. I don't really know what to do. I've searched the Internet to remove the HARD drive password. I tried to tab ESC / F2 repeatly but it did not work. I can't go into the bios.

    Display:

    Toshiba screen-> HARD drive password:

    Hello!

I put t know why it happened, but you cannot delete a HARD drive password.

The password is stored on the HARD disk, but you cannot delete it. All data is lost if you n t know this password.
You have no more access to the HARD drive.

    Good bye

  • What is the function of password HARD drive physically?

    Acer Aspire E3

I put a password on the HARD drive in the BIOS, and I see that it is opposed to access F12 boot without the password menu, thus preventing boot from somwething like a Linux Live CD (good!).

My question is, in addition to password lock the normal startup process and the F12 function, the drive password HARD does nothing else, as for example the encryption of disk?

Nope no encryption with just a HARD drive password.

what you have found what is a HARD drive password, do nothing else.

  • Set password hard drive and now can't unlock!

I have a brand new T410s who has 1.34 BIOS factory installed. I used the BIOS option to set a hard drive password, choose the option 'user' (not ' user + master'). As I was just testing, I put an easy to remember the password "password". It has a Samsung SSD. However, now it does not accept "password" to unlock the drive and won't let me not in the BIOS unless I have remove the disc before feeding! Y at - it a bug with setting the drive of this new BIOS passwords? I had several Thinkpads over the years and have never seen one that...

Hmm, thanks for the interesting reference. However, in my case, it seems that I'm the one that randomly changed my password when the keystroke! I tried some typo were variations and it unlocked with 'passwprd"instead of"password "!

  • 03F1 error hard drive at startup

    Hello guys

Yesterday my friends and I were watching a movie on my laptop via a projector and all of a sudden it freezes, I've tried a few things (Im not completely reduced tech = P) but could not release it so I had to scramble the power button to turn it off and now everytime I restart it it gives me a screen front harddrive error screen (where the little colored balls dance and make the logo of the) window) to boot windows 7. He tells me the error is the number "03F1" and asks me to run the diagnostic, but every time I run it is stuck at 0% (I waited about 35 minutes, did not move a single percentage). After a few times, I just ignored the message and left without running diagnostic tests and my computer booted up fine... it doesn't seem to be a mistake.

HP disk hard diagnosis is therefore out of the question, I went to run a few others offered by windows, the online version of the hard drive diagnosis and the results were very good... nothing seems to be tested in my hard drive and my computer is running without problems. However whenever I start I have to deal with this stupid screen and hitting a few keys for my pc at startup (I tried the diagnostic hard drive in the BIOs, it gets stuck at 00 as well for some reason any).

Any ideas? I came across this post on the internet which is almost exactly the same as mine, I really want to get rid of this stupid screen if I do not have a hard drive failure... I mean that my laptop is like only 1 year.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Good day

    Hello

    Ignore my last post

The hard drive on the link below would be a good replacement.

1 Tb hard - computer laptop

The process of replacing the hard drive is detailed from Page 48 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive.

If you do not have your recovery discs, try the link below to see if you can order a replacement.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

If you have a problem with the link above, order them directly from HP here.

    Kind regards

  • Cloning hard drive SSD - STARTUP FILES ARE GONE

So I recently bought an SSD to put in my computer with my current hard drive.  I used this tutorial: http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-migrate-to-a-solid-state-drive-without-reinstalling-windows to clone my hard drive of my ssd.  I was planning on just moving to the ssd (including my os) and then using my drive hard just store files on.  When I followed these steps, he created a "system reserved" disk (D :) on my computer.  I went into the bios and choose my SSD to boot from, but he said that he could not.  Thanks to some research I discovered that the system reserved player will often take startup files.  I was wondering if there is any way I could move the boot system files reserved my ssd drive.  I formatted my original hard drive yet so I think that the boot files should always be out there as well (?).  I have either a windows installation disc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use it and Chrome to get your version of win - 7 iso then you can ;)

  • PC tries to boot from external USB instead of the internal hard drive at startup

Hi, I just took delivery of a refurbished Pavilion p6793. I noticed that the system does not boot if I have my external USB drive connected. It happens with one cannot find the message of charger and asks me to hit ctrl-alt-del to restart. I suspect it's because it's the search for the o/s on USB instead of the internal hard drive. Can you tell me what I need to check and change to allow me to boot from the hard drive even if the drive is connected. Thank you.

    Hello:

You should probably go into your BIOS by pressing F10 at HP welcome screen and changing the options in the start for the HDD menu start the first.

Then you can set the boot for other devices as you order please.

Make sure that you save your settings, where you made the change, and again when you go out.

When you specifically want to start on a device, press the F9 key to the HP welcome screen and you will be presented with a single boot options menu where you can choose from any one of the bootable devices listed.

I want ask, can my laptop goes a SSHD? I want to replace my drive HARD original with Seagate BarraCuda SSHD.

.... I want to replace my drive with Seagate BarraCuda SSHD HARD original...

    Hello

Yes, your machine can operate with SSHD. But Seagate BarraCuda SSHD is NOT SSD, it's slightly better than the HARD drive because it has more cache. People say that it is something between SSD and HDD, but still a long way to be similar to the SSD.

No point in paying money (even it is not expensive) to get a little better. Why not go directly to the SSD, the price may be double, but you get all the benefits in terms of price/performance. You can use Samsung or Crucial or SanDisk...

    Kind regards.
