03F1 error hard drive at startup

Hello guys

Yesterday my friends and I were watching a movie on my laptop via a projector and all of a sudden it freezes, I've tried a few things (Im not completely reduced tech = P) but could not release it so I had to scramble the power button to turn it off and now everytime I restart it it gives me a screen front harddrive error screen (where the little colored balls dance and make the logo of the) window) to boot windows 7. He tells me the error is the number "03F1" and asks me to run the diagnostic, but every time I run it is stuck at 0% (I waited about 35 minutes, did not move a single percentage). After a few times, I just ignored the message and left without running diagnostic tests and my computer booted up fine... it doesn't seem to be a mistake.

HP disk hard diagnosis is therefore out of the question, I went to run a few others offered by windows, the online version of the hard drive diagnosis and the results were very good... nothing seems to be tested in my hard drive and my computer is running without problems. However whenever I start I have to deal with this stupid screen and hitting a few keys for my pc at startup (I tried the diagnostic hard drive in the BIOs, it gets stuck at 00 as well for some reason any).

Any ideas? I came across this post on the internet which is almost exactly the same as mine, I really want to get rid of this stupid screen if I do not have a hard drive failure... I mean that my laptop is like only 1 year.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Good day

Hello

Ignore my last post

The hard drive on the link below would be a good replacement.

1 Tb hard - computer laptop

The process of replacing the hard drive is detailed from Page 48 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive.

If you do not have your recovery discs, try the link below to see if you can order a replacement.

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

If you have a problem with the link above, order them directly from HP here.

Kind regards

  • Error hard drive DST

I have a laptop dv7 in HP Envy, 6 months out of Costco. It crashes at startup. I did the test of marketing and it's not hard drive DST: M0D8Q1-6B96S2-QFPK0K-60SF03

Is this fixable or does require the replacement of the hard drive? The documentation provided with your computer indicate a 2-year warranty; It would be something covered by the warranty?

    Thank you

    Steve

    Hi Steve,.

Error code 24 characters for the drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

The hard drive is under warranty, you can contact HP and arrange for the replaced disk - if necessary, you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

  • Not found boot device error hard drive 3FO

    Hello

I have a HP Envy 15 laptop 3040nr. Yesterday, it fell on my couch and on the floor from a height of about 2 feet.

Since then, I received the above error, and the computer does not recognize my hard drive, saying in the test drive "HDD is no." I know that the hard drive itself is not at all damaged, because I removed the laptop and put it up to a USB adapter, and I was able to access the drive. It is completely functional.

Now, the question is:-how to get the notebook to accept my hard drive again? I am also convinced that the laptop is not seriously damaged internally, apart from a few bumps on the laptop.

NOTE:-1. My computer is void of warranty.

    2. the laptop fell FLAT on its underside and not on the edges.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Paul,

I have simply removed and re-inserted the controller on the motherboard, and I am posting this on my laptop now functional!

Thanks for mentioning 'controller', it was in fact lose! I just skipped it right out and back in again, and now it works fine!

And on missing startup files, it was nothing. The other PC was just now allowed access to the system reserved Partition!

  • Re: Satellite M30: error HARD drive-> 40 GB HDD modified with a 250 GB = 137 GB HARD drive?

    Hi all
I have a problem with my laptop M30-241 and the new hard drive.

After an error with my old 40 GB HARD drive, I changed HDD WD 2500BEVE 250 GB.

The correct name of the HARD drive in the bios Setup.
My bios version is 1.7 but only 137 GB of available space.

I searched for a new version of the bios, but without success.

Maybe someone can give me an opinion/advice?

    Best regards
    D.a.

Perhaps the BIOS doesn't support the 250 GB HDD it is possible given that not all HARD drive sizes are supported!
I think that the update of the BIOS (if possible) would not solve this too.

  • Error hard drive 305

Hello everyone and thank you for reading this.

    If I own a HP Pavilion DV6(EDIT: I believe it's a dv6 6145dx) and it is NOT booting. EDIT: Windows 7 Home 64-bit Edition (I believe).

What I mean is that either not happening the windows loading screen after clicking "start windows normally".

So I tried to understand what the error was and I went into the bios and test a hard drive. When I did everything first he finished the short test and says hard disk is full error 305.

I left it like that for a while (maybe 3 weeks) until I finally had time to fixation.

To fix it, I have Linux on a disk (Ubuntu to be exact) and start my computer through the OS on the drive. Then, I deleted and deleted files (music, old games) that I didn't need more in the hope that it would fix the error.

Then I tried to start it again, and it had the same problem before, could not get past the Windows loading screen.

Then I went into the bios and the hard drive I scan again. This time, he spent the short test but has NOT passed the long test. I got the error message was 305 hard drive error.

Ive done a bit of research (how I found this site actually) and I can't find a solution. Is my hard drive bread? Y at - it an easy fix? Should I reinstall Windows?

Thanks for reading and I would appreciate any help.

    Good day.

    Hello

    You are welcome

The fact that you can access data on the HARD drive via Ubuntu is about what I expected the Player isn't having to run Windows, then you have reduced considerably the read/write load it is a sub - especially if the failure is mechanical, gives you a much better chance to snatch just your data.

If you know the manufacturer of your HARD drive, please visit their website you should find a download to create a disc/usb diagnosis of new test drive.

Regarding the replacement of the HARD disk, you are not restricted to a particular manufacturer, for example, the drive on the following link would be nice - (an important aspect to note is not to replace the disc with one of a capacity smaller than the original, because it often leads to problems when using recovery discs to reinstall the operating system).

750 GB 2.5 "Sata II hard drive.

The replacement procedure can be found starting on Page 70 of your & Maintenance Guide.

  • Pavilion g: error hard drive

    Hello

How can I resolve the following error:

    Hard drive test

    Test Drive: 1

    INTELLIGENT control: PAST

    DST short: FAILURE

    FAILURE ID: ME43TL-5KE7H5-XD014J-60W603

    PRODUCT ID: LR718PA #ABG

    Hard drive 1

    Test drive: FAILURE

    Thank you

    Alex

    Hi Alex,

About the error code, it always indicates a failure - Smart drive self-test or when related to the HARD drive.  You will see different codes for the same error is because the codes contain also other information such as the status of the guarantee, product etc. in encrypted form id - only HP has the software to decrypt it.

Regarding the replacement of the hard drive is concerned, your laptop is listed as coming with a 500 GB hard drive, but you can also easily install a 750 GB HARD drive if you want a little more space - readers at the following links are examples that would be perfect for your laptop.

    Hard drive 500 GB

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 53 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - this is described in the document of HP here.

If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

    Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

Regarding your existing data (assuming that the laptop is no longer starts), if it is essential to keep the data, your best option would be to seek the services of a company specializing in the recovery of the data it is however an expensive procedure.

Otherwise, here are some options you can try.

    1. one possible way to try to recover your files from a disk non-boot is to follow the process described in the link below.  The CD of the Ubuntu operating system you create can launched from the CD alone (IE it doesn't have to be installed on the hard drive) and I've often found to successfully extract data even a hard failure.  When you created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can save your existing files.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/use-Ubuntu-Live-CD-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-Windo...

2 another option would be to remove the drive HARD, place it in an external enclosure - is an example of the link below - connect to another PC and see if you can access your files.

External 2.5 HARD drive caddy ".

  • W510 - error HARD drive, gambling problems, calibration of the questions

Hi all users of Thinkpad and Lenovo. I'm new here and to the community of Lenovo.

I just renovated W510 a few weeks and love it. Laptop necessary for photography.

    Type series R96RGY4 43195RU

    i5 520 M

6 GB of RAM [Update 2GB]

    Quadro FX 880M 1 GB

    HD + screen 15'6

Seagate 320 GB SATA 7200 RPM

    Windows 7 32 bit

    Update Bios to 1.38

But having some issues, could not find an answer:

    1. as a hobby photographer trying to calibrate using Huey PRO Lenovo recommended tool. Problem is that when I run the software says "could not find the color sensor" and I don't know if I have it. I know, it should be between the fingerprint and keyboard player. What it looks like? How will I know that I have?

If I don't have it, what is the best [possibly budget] way to go on the calibration it?

    2. question - half-life 2 game. Downoladed by Valve. Played very well from the beginning with the "recommended" video settings But lately the game FREEZE a lot, it's unplayable!

I installed the latest driver from nVidia 6824, always point of FREEZING. I did back driver, still hurt. [if I remember well, it was well before I did of the nvidia drivers] I lowered same resolution details changed from the top in the middle. None works.

I use GPU counter acquired with Win 7 and it will never more of 130 f. I even had laptop cooler with 2 adjustable fans, adjusted on the GPU area. If the heat is not the issue.

    3 HDD issue.

Due to the game that I have run Thinkvantage material test and found 2 ERRORS [could there be FREEZE game question?]

FAILURE - ERROR WHD20-SR7 targeted reading test

    FAILURE - SMART self-test short ERROR WHD16-59Y

Here found navigation I use Lenovo Diagnostics bootable CD. I did and got:

Repair of sector test ATA failed - ERROR ID09H-0 CT code "your drive could not be repaired and must be replaced" [nice]

I want to emphasize that I installed Xubuntu Linux as a 2nd distribution. HDD shrunk using the Windows utility, install Grub in the MBR.

All workes very well, except the game.

Can I communicate with Lenovo and replace the HARD drive? About 198 days warranty.

Sorry for the long post, did not make too many messages :-)

Thank you for reading and I would appreciate any help. This day happy user of Lenovo.

The W510 series is known for having badly mounted coolers, I'm not sure if this applies to Dual Core versions however.

Even if your time is low, the video memory could be overheating because the cooler has bad contact with them.

  • Envy 17 3D: error HARD drive or motherboard

Hello. I accidentally spilled Pepsi on my laptop last week. I am immediately turned me off, cleaned up the best I could and let it dry... for 30 minutes. From powering it it worked well for 10 seconds, then it started restarting until it just died. After a week or so, I tried on again and he actually started, but it won't start windows. A ran the Diagnostics and everything except hard drive DST short (soft error) and hard drive Long DST (soft error). Hard drive optimized DST passed fine.

I have two drives, SSD with windows on and the standard 1 TB HARD drive. So I'm ready to communicate with the HP repair service in my town tomorrow, but they are really, really expensive, and I wonder if there is anything I could do myself. My readers could be damaged and then I can just replace myself, or damage the motherboard, seeing how it was (and probably still has) some Pepsi on it?

Pepsi is corrosive and has loads of conductive sugar.

I would consider replacing the keyboard.

There was probably some liquid to spill Pepsi which is is casting the laptop if it signals a failure on the hard drive that wasn't there before the spill.

The next time something like that happens to not turn on the unit for about a week and put it somewhere it is very hot and dry.

Never turn on a device after thirty minutes of Pepsi, tea, or coffee spill. That could push easily in the end of its useful life.

  • Cloning hard drive SSD - STARTUP FILES ARE GONE

So I recently bought an SSD to put in my computer with my current hard drive.  I used this tutorial: http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-migrate-to-a-solid-state-drive-without-reinstalling-windows to clone my hard drive of my ssd.  I was planning on just moving to the ssd (including my os) and then using my drive hard just store files on.  When I followed these steps, he created a "system reserved" disk (D :) on my computer.  I went into the bios and choose my SSD to boot from, but he said that he could not.  Thanks to some research I discovered that the system reserved player will often take startup files.  I was wondering if there is any way I could move the boot system files reserved my ssd drive.  I formatted my original hard drive yet so I think that the boot files should always be out there as well (?).  I have either a windows installation disc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use it and Chrome to get your version of win - 7 iso then you can ;)
