requested operation requires elevetion

Hello

I signed up as a user administrator, I am trying to install something and it wouldn't let me install it for some reason I get this message "requested operation requires a rise" I have windows 7.

Help, please.

Thank you

I think you are talking about the dialog box titled "do allow you the following program to make changes to this computer?  Is confirmation that the program can run & does not necessarily indicate that there is a problem with your admin, your computer account or any application you are trying to install the search.  It is to the confirmation of this process rather than forcing you to repeat a login name.  These confirmations are required, even if you are already signed in as an administrator and will occur whenever the operation you are trying to make is that only an administrator can do.

Alternatively, you can try to install the application by right clicking on the Setup file and selecting run as administrator.

If you don't have one account on the computer and then, if the user profile of the account never became corrupt, you'd have a serious problem.  In addition, with the help of an Admin to fixed routine operations you open to specific types of malware attack - see Why use a standard account instead of an administrator account?  [you can also see the information in the help file on the computer management dialog box if you do not use the Web link]

Create two new accounts protected by Admin password.  Trial in you accounts logging on each of them & create a password reset disk for each of them.  Downgrade your account to a standard user account for all the day-to-day operations the day and make a password reset disk for it as well.  You do all this using the Control Panel, dialog box user accounts .

  • "The requested operation requires a rise."

Before installing Win 7 I saved a bunch of files and folders on an external hard drive. Tonight, when I tried to look at text files, I had created in Open Office, I got the error message "the requested operation requires a rise". If I right click and go to 'Properties' tab 'Security' and 'user or group name' there is a red question mark followed by a long row of numbers. (A reference to my existence of XP? Other names in this area to refer to my current system). There are options to change the permissions on 'Edit' and 'Advanced '. I don't like on these files, but I didn't change any settings that might adversely affect the program or the files of 'parent '.                                                                                                                                                              (When I created this title I had links to the forums of Vista, but the issues do not cover my problem.)

The long row of numbers that you see in the list of accounts on the Security tab is called security ID (or a SID).  When Windows does not recognize the security identifier associated with file ACL (Access Control List / Permissions) it displays the SID.  Normally, Windows will be able to translate this SID in an account name or an alias, such as "domain\username".

It seems that the original permissions are always associated with the files you are trying to access to and they are considered alien to the computer you are trying to access it from.  To open these files, you will need to take possession of them and give you access to read (or write/edit/delete).  This is the error message occurs.  "The requested operation requires an elevation" means that, in order to open the file, you will need high approval of a local administrator to capture and access.

You may already be logged on to your system as a user who is a member of the local administrators, but Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 offer additional layers of security to help protect your system.  This is called UAC or control user access.  Basically, even if you are the administrator Windows protects certain administrative functions with another layer of security.  You've probably seen the screen getting dimmed and a dialog asking you if you want to continue or cancel a certain operation.  It's UAC asking if you are really really really sure about what you are about to do and ensure that you're the only one doing it and not a red process or virus trying to take charge.

In order to change the ownership of files that you can...

    1. go the properties of the folder that contains the files that needed to take possession of
    2. click on the Security tab
    3. click on Advanced
    4. click on the owner tab
    5. click on Edit...
    6. Select the account name in the change in ownership to the list that you want to support
    7. check the box, replace the owner of subcontainers and objects
    8. click on OK

The ownership information will be updated on all objects in the folder including subcontainers (or subfolders).  Depending on the number of files and folders in your starting point there do this take a long time to complete.  Once it is down you will be able to change the security permissions you want to the files and folders (for example, control total, read-only, read & write, etc.).

NOTE: If you are not logged in as administrator on your system, the above steps will work not like taking possession of object file requires administrator privledges.

  • Create process failed code 740 requested operation requires an elevation

After installing the trial version Everest (material ID software), I get this message "create prosess failed code 740 requested operation requires a rise." This was followed by a crash after x'ing out.  Funny things are gone. Mouse came out the other day (possibly not related), yesterday lost keyboard driver. Then downloaded regcure and all the he'll is unleashed. I have Mcafee dumped (which was), installed and run AVG and one - quared and found nothing. I also run Microsoft malicious software last week and found nothing. last night when I was trying to get rid of regcure - which I downloaded from the site of microsoft in connection, it would pile up a hundred windows on my screen and then told me that he was no longer at the location. I don't know where he is. . I know it's a lot of things, but just try to ask for one. I'm afraid that I'm digging deeper.

The Everest product is certified for Windows 7? I note on their web page to claim "BOLD", it adapts to all versions of Windows, I tend to doubt since Windows 7 places many restrictions on software, especially when it comes to probe the material. I would like to use the system restore to return Windows to a point before the installation of Everest.

  • That's why when I type ipconfig/flushdns in windows command prompt, it shows the requested operation requires a rise?

Why when I type ipconfig/flushdns in windows works it shows that the requested operation requires a rise?

Because you must run the command prompt with administrator for most active IPCONFIG commands to work correctly.  Just because your account is that an administrator account does not give appropriate rights as it did in XP.  Passive commands such as interfaces to display work correctly with a normal account, but commands like release, renewal and flushdns require that you run as administrator command prompt.
