  I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below.

  Method 1: Base Windows XP search indexing troubleshooting

  a. confirm that you are connected to Windows with an account that has administrator privileges. The account doesn't have to be named 'Administrator', but can not be a normal user account.

  b. click on the "Start" button, then click on 'control panel '. Double-click "Administrative Tools". If you don't see this icon, click the "Switch to Classic view" link on the left side of the window.

  c. double-click "Services." Double-click on "Indexing Service" in the window that opens.   Method 2: Rebuild the Windows XP Search Index

  d. Select the radio button "apply changes α C:\, subfolders and files" and click "OK". Windows will exclude all files and folders on the disk being indexed.   Change to just say ID and it will work.
