Reset disk to create a password.
Showing a friend how to put a password on his new laptop and how to create a password reset disk - dialog request for a Flash or floppy drive must be inserted. As modern computers don't have a floppy drive location, it would be certainly more useful if you could burn a CD - R to be used as the reset disk.
A CD - R can now be used as a Flash Drive, I think that--depending on how formatted?
It would also more secure than the Flash Player if kept in a safe at home and not in those of Pocket?

This probably means that your password disk drive is not up-to-date. Here are the other options built into Windows to help you get out of this situation:
- Restart the computer with your Windows repair CD, then use system restore to set Windows in a few days (only works if you have recently changed the password).
- Log on to your account admin to spare, and then reset the password for your existing account (works only if you set up an alternative admin account).
- Log in as administrator mode without failure, then reset the password for your existing account (the password is usually empty).
- Use the password indicator (only works if an indicator was created and if it's good enough to allow you to guess the password)
- Check your paper files (works only if you threw down the password somewhere)

A password reset disk need several computers.
I'm working with dozens of different computers, ranging from 3 to 12 units per customer. It would be quite tedious to maintain a separate for each computer, USB drive and using the same passwords between computers is uncertain and unacceptable in all of customers. I don't have the luxury of a domain. Each computer is autonomous and must have a different password. Is there a way to combine multiple disks into a single reset? Or add a computer to an existing one? For those who must use a large number of passwords on multiple systems, it would be a valuable tool.
I guess that you are referring to the passwords for administrator accounts you have on each computer to do your work.
You can simply use an external drive such as a USB key for the entire collection.
1 create the first 'password reset disk' then create a folder with a name that identifies the user account, PC & OS [and possibly customer], then move the file userkey.psw from the root of the drive in this folder. You can then repeat the process on the same external drive for each user account, the OS & PC you need.
2. If you need to reset your password to admin on a PC, simply move the file userkey.psw relevant back in the root of the external drive. The PC will then detect that one and that one only.

What to do if you forget your Windows password
If you have forgotten your Windows password and you are on a domain, you must contact your system administrator to reset your password. If you are on a working group (the majority of individuals are on a working group), you can reset your password by using a reset disk of password or by using an administrator account.

- Logging in as a different admin account and then reset the password for your existing account (works only if create you an alternative admin account).

- Insert your flash drive USB with the password key file (only works if you have created such a keyfile).

If none of these standard precautions work for you, then the remedy will be painful. Post again if this is the case.

I forgot my password to administrstor. I have a reset disk, but it was created under the standard account on the same computer and for some reason that I have problems to use it to reset the administrator password. I am able to do?
No, the password reset disks only helps with the account, they were made on [otherwise any user could reset the admin password & enter this account].
There are some things you can try in the PDF Password Reset Disk step by step Guide to http://www.itknowledge24.com/ but you may not be able to solve the problem without reinstall Windows & lose the current contents of the disc.
