reset the offline files cache

The cache of offline on my machine Windows 8 files is corrupt and I want to delete and rebuild it.
There is a fix for Windows 7 and earlier versions, using the registry, and this doesn't seem to work.
Any suggestions on how I can force a reset this cache?

Hi thanks for the Technet link, where I found the match following (somewhat abusive) on Technet, which suggests that the method proposed in your article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/230738/en-us) is certified as being still valid in Windows 8.

http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/deed0c7c-c481-4CCB-81A8-b334f753a96a/Windows-8-offline-cache?Forum=w8itprogeneral

where it is proposed to run the following script:

Tracking Add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Csc\Parameters FormatDatabase /t REG_DWORD /d 1 f v

So the guys from Technet seem to say that the same difficulty working on Windows 8 on Windows 7.

I tried this fix at some point, although I used Regedit to apply the hotfix as described in the above article. The cache has not be re-initialized. However I did not on this point, because the problem 'fixed itself' after what I took on big laptop, described above. Maybe I would have deleted the cache with persistence more.

I suspect that the graying of the 'always available offline' options is somehow a reaction that had small laptop, policies or permissions we found on big laptop. Then fritzing autour with big laptop, where sharing, finally solved the problem.

This problem is solved for me for now, so I'm here, however posting this response in case someone else gets the same problem.

  • [Help]! Do the CSA file cache?

    Hello!

    I have installed on my machine of the developer version of 3.x FMS and it works very well... until... I have started using the CAD files.

    As long as I'm with the code on the client side, I have no problems. For some more functionality, I had to use a CAD file. To test the connection, I created an ASC file that has the following code:

    application.onAppStart = function() {}
    this.allowDebug = true;
    }

    application.onConnect = {function (customer)}
    application.acceptConnection (client);

    client.callFromClient = {function (clientStr)}
    Return "Hello" + clientStr;
    }
    }

    If I do any changes to the code above, it does not reflect until I restart my FMS server. For example, if I'm changing the return "Hello"... go back to 'Hi '... I need to restart the FMS to see Working!

    Pls help!

    This behavior is expected, as FMS compiles the application during execution. In the case of main.asc, you must restart the instance of the application for the changes to take effect. You don't need to restart the server, you can use the FMS Management console to restart the instance of the specific application.

  • Do not Sycnhronize on a XP offline files

    Hi everyone, sorry for this old topic... but hope you can help... Yes, I'm still working on an XP machine.

    For some reason, I need to redo our GPO and tried to re-create a GPO so that the laptop can synchronize offline files with 'My Documents' for a mobile specific and the user. Before this new GPO, the user was able to sync the same folder without any problem. Wick for a reason that I removed and remove the old GPO. So now I need to reset upward.
    Now when I tried to connect the laptop to the network, I have only seen the sync happens only once, and synchronization also came with "Access Denied" errors after a few hours... and the synchronization has failed of course. When I disconnect the laptop computer, the My Documents folder is always empty (with all subfolders, but there is no content!)
    I know that the user cannot manipulate the features offline synchronization... and here are the GPO settings, that I set:
    -Models of administration - computer network/Offline Files configuration
    -Action on server disconnect - enabled, Action is "work offline".
    -Allow or prohibit the use of offline - enabled features
    -Encrypt the Cache of offline - enabled files
    -Prevent the use of the offline files folder - activated
    -Ban the user files offline - enabled configuration
    -Remove "make available offline" - enabled
    Sub-always available offline - enabled folders
    -Synchronize all offline files before you end the session - enabled
    -Synchronize all offline files when logging on - active
    -Synchronize offline files before suspension - enabled, the type of Action, COMPLETE
         System/user profiles
    -Copies of delete cached roaming profiles - disabled
    N ' allow only local user profiles - activated
    -Prevent roaming profile changes from spreading to the sever - active
    Configurations of users - Windows Settings - folder redirection-
    I did the path for the user who is the path: \\fileserver\User$\%Useranme%\My Documents. And the user has read to the ' user or users $' root folder.
    -Administrative Templates - files network/off line
    -Action on server disconnect - enabled, Action is "work offline".
    -Administratively assigned offline files - activated
    -Files and folders, Documents \\fileserver\User$\%Useranme%\My
    -Prevent the use of the offline files folder - activated
    -Ban the user files offline - enabled configuration
    -Synchronize all offline files before you end the session - enabled
    -Synchronize all offline files when logging on - active
    -Synchronize offline files before suspension - enabled, the type of Action, COMPLETE
    -Disable the balloon reminder - disabled
    -Do not automatically make redirected folders available offline - disabled.
    May I ask how to do the sync properly? And also... How initial sync (again once, the user doesn't have the right to manipulate sync settings?
    Any ideas would be great! Thank you very much for your help

    How reset the offline files cache and the database

    John

  • data extarneous of copy of the completed files C:\ drive. No space left for storage

    Running Windows 7 Premium Home Edition, 64-bit with service pack 1 and all other updates installed Microsoft.

    In the last two days, I copied an extreme amount of video files, for most AVI and MP4, (890 files containing 580 GB of data) mapped network drive Z (Western Digital Live Hub 1 TB) on external hard drive (Western Digital My Book, 1 TB) K. Copping took 40 hours to complete. No problem to complete the copy of the files.

    Problem is during the copy process, an extreme amount of noise data was placed somewhere on my main drive C:\. Total extraneous data are about 450 GB, which filled the C:\ drive. No room left on the road. I spent several hours trying to find and remove redundant data from C:\, but have not found where these data are currently stored.

    Where would these data stored? Y at - it a command string search in Windows or CMD Prompt I could use to find the data. All unnecessary data would have a creation date of the file of 10/05/2013 or 11/05/2013.

    Hello

    Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
    Try the following:
    Method 1: The offline files cache is a folder structure in the folder % SystemRoot%\CSC, which is hidden by default. The record of the CSC and all files and subfolders it contains, should not be modified directly; doing so may result in loss of data and a complete disassembly of the offline files feature.
    If you think corruption in the database, then delete the files using the offline files viewer. After you delete the files in the offline files Viewer, a synchronization of files may then be forced using Synchronization Manager. If the cache still does not appear to work correctly, offline files reset can be performed by using the following procedure:

    1. In Folder Options, on the offline files tab, press CTRL + SHIFT, and then click delete files. The following message appears:

      Cache files offline on the local computer will be reset. Any changes that have not been synchronized with computers on the network will be lost. Any files or folders made available offline will be more available in offline mode. A restart of the computer is required.

      You want to re - initialize the cache?

    2. Click Yes twice to restart the computer.
    Method 2:

    Use the registry editor

    If you cannot access the offline files tab, use this method to reset the cache offline files (CSC) on the system by editing the registry. Also use this method to reset the cache on the side of client/database files offline on multiple systems. Add the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache
    Key name: FormatDatabase
    Key type: DWORD
    Key Value: 1

    Note The actual value of the registry key is ignored. This registry change requires a restart. When the computer restarts, the shell will reset the CSC cache and then delete the registry key if the registry entry exists.

    Warning All cache files are deleted and unsynchronized data is lost.

    Using Reg.exe

    You can also automate the process of setting this registry value using the Reg.exe command line editor. To do this, type the following command in the window of Reg.exe:

    REG. EXE. REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache' FormatDatabase /t REG_DWORD /d 1 f v

  • Help! My original disk offline files are copied in my reader users when I log on their machine!

    I have users who use the offline files feature so that they can work on files of network when the network.  After using my credential and working on a user's computer yesterday, copies of my files from home drive now appears in the user drive home.  Of course, this is not acceptable.  It could reveal sensitive or confidential information to the wrong person.

    Can someone tell me how this can happen?  The offline files cache should not be shared between different users of the same machine, right?  I connect in machines of so many people while ensuring support and cannot have copied my personal files in the home directories of others.  FYI, remap us the My Documents shortcut to the user's home or the H: drive.

    I'm setting up the synchronization of files offline on my desktop PC. I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP3 (32 bit). But there is no such thing as the offline files tab in the box of dialaog from the Optrions folder. I disabled the fast user switching option. On my laptop, XP Professional, I don't have the same problem.

  • Why the hosts file is reset periodically?

    Hello, I would like to redirect an IP address to a localhost, but whenever something comes back the original contents of the hosts file.

    I open windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts with Notepad under run as administrator, and then make a change in the hosts file. All new Vett are redirecting to localhost (127.0.0.1), but suddenly some time my hosts file is returned to the original state.

    My system runs Windows Vista x 64-bit edition.
    What can change my hosts file and how to make a constant change in it?

    Best regards
    Voronkov Konstantin

    Konstantin,

    I'm not familiar with VPNS modifying the file hosts as Brian suggested. Also, VPNS are a bit outside the scope of support here in answers and if you need more information about the VPN, I would recommend display in TechNet Windows Vista Networking:

    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/itprovistanetworking/threads

    From personal experience, I find some antivirus software will monitor and restore the hosts file. If the host file is always reset to 0, you can perform a clean boot, use the system and see if the file resets. If not, it means that something in startup is reset the hosts file and from there you can determine what startup item is causing the problem.

    Check out the link below for instructions to boot:
