  Hello all-

  Well the bug in the software update (10.5.8) did.  I forgot that HP Printer Drivers update 1.1.1 continues to appear even if its been installed before.  As a result, I have now lost some features with my new OJ Pro 8000n.  I plan on resetting the printing system, but first I want to be sure I understand exactly what is happening.

  I have a much older Business Inkjet 1100d also installed, and I am not totally convinced that if the former driver for it gets uninstalled by reset the printing system I can find the old disk to reinstall this former driver and all the features.

  My impression is that reset the printing system removes all printers installed Print & Fax Preference, but does NOT the driver software and the real characteristics.  (On the other hand, I assume that the "scrubber" option removes all the drivers and extras?)  Am I correct that?

  Well Yes, reset the printing system does not remove the printer software or the driver.

  I completely removed Firefox 7.0.1 and replaced by 5.0.1 and now I can open the printing preferences. Follow these instructions:

  Create a system first, restore point if you want.

  Then, click on start, Control Panel, programs and features. Uninstall Mozilla Firefox.

  Reach...

  If 32 bits...
  C:\Program Files

  If 64-bit...
  C:\Program Files (x 86)

  And delete the Mozilla Firefox folder.

  This should give you a fresh start. Then install the old version. Just bookmarks can be imported from Internet Explorer or registered before switching versions

  There are a growing number of messages in this forum and elsewhere in the internet with the steps to do a reset on different printers.  Reset to will sometimes fix problems, so resetting is not the issue.

  -Press and hold the "Setup" & "left arrow" keys Release the two buttons. Display should say "enter special key Combo".
  -Press "OK".
  Display should say "Support" and display the FW XXXXX rev (you are now on the Help menu)
  
  TO MAKE RESET "Half full" in the HELP MENU:
  
  -Use the > to scroll to 'Resets the Menu' and press 'OK '.

  It looks like you may have some saved jobs in your queue that need to be removed.

  Here's how:

  To clear the print queue, stop the print spooler service and delete all the jobs/print pending.
     
  You cannot delete all print jobs in the queue so that the Print Spooler Service is running.
        
  To stop the Print Spooler Service, click Start, run and enter in the box:
         
  services.msc
         
  Click OK to open the Services Applet.
         
  Locate the Print Spooler Service, right click and choose 'Properties' and then click on the "Stop" button to stop the Print Spooler Service is running.
     
  The option "Startup Type" of Service properties print spooler is usually set to "Automatic" (which is now a good time to check it out).
     
  If the "Startup type" is not set to "Automatic", set the "Startup type" to "Automatic" If that is your desire (which now is the time to check it out).

  Do not try to start or restart the Print Spooler Service immediately.  You must remove all print jobs backed up first...
     
  Then, delete all updates pending upward and forward to printing from XP.  If they do not print before, you will need to send the to the printer again.
     
  Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the following folder (assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive):
     
  C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS
         
  Delete all the print jobs in queue (select and delete all the files) in the folder if the folder is without waiting for print jobs.  The folder must be empty when you are finished.
         
  Reboot your system and check the Print Spooler Service again to make sure the Print Spooler Service restarts automatically restart (given that the startup type is set to automatic).
     
  After the reboot, check again the Spooler Service for printing and the 'Status' column for the print spooler must be read "started."

  Submit new failure of print jobs.

  I recently moved to the United Kingdom in New Zealand. My C6180 is configured for cartridges 363 series available in the United Kingdom. The same cartridge is 02 series in New Zealand, and when I install the printer tells me that the printer is not configured for this cartridge.   I recently bought a new computer with Windows 7 Professional. I have the HP PSC 1215 series that I used with my old Windows XP computer (it worked fine with that). With the XP computer it used the pilot for the series HP PSC 1200 and printed and scanned without any problems. Now, with Windows 7 PCs, I'll have a little trouble with the printer. First of all, I can't change the printing preferences (when I click on it, a window will appear and the disappers almost instantly). Second, it may not print correctly (using Microsoft Office 2010) Word documents. It can print text perfectly well, but the diagrams, word art and images it prints sometimes not at all, and other times it prints only part of it.

  On the HP site, it says you do not need to download all drivers for Windows 7, it will install itself. It was installing, but clearly not properly. Windows Update was updating the driver, but who made no change.

  I can do, or is the printer simply too old for Windows 7? Thanks for any help!

  I have good news... for me at least! I've somehow set so that I can change my printing preferences! What I did was I went into the settings of the device and, under the "Advanced" tab, change the driver to "hp psc 1200 series. Here's what it looks like:

  

  Now, after changing it, when I go into the printer properties, it makes appear this message:

  

  I just click 'No' and it works very well! Can I change the print "Fast draft" or "DPI Maximum" quality.

• 3110cn - lack of Duplex in the printing preferences for some users

  Had the 3110cn for quite some time and I'm especially happy with it.  Several weeks ago the main two people using the printer somehow lost the ability to specify a Duplex in the print preferences.  The duplex option and the menu drop-down is just not there!

  BTW - connected network printer

  If I add this printer on a PC that has not used the printer before, same problem.  I uninstalled the driver on the PC individual and even reinstalled on the server without result.  My laptop has the duplex available option (and always have) and it works fine.

  Any help would be appreciated.  The two without the option are those that use more often!

  I also uninstalled the previous drivers and software of my Officejet 4500 - 510g and installed the software and drivers for Windows 8.

  I noticed that in Internet Explorer 10 when I want to print a page, the printer preferences dialog boxes are empty. Tab titles are in hieroglyphics, and the text in the preferences windows is all in capital letters.

  Using Firefox, the dialog box print properties (corresponding to the "Préférences" dialog box in Internet Explorer 10) works as expected.

  I try to use the version of Windows 8 desktop and then try to print from Internet Explorer. If it does not try to use a different printer driver.

  Printer works fine so hard connected to the network.  ePrint works very well.

  Hi Peter, is the problem with a PDF document? Financial sites generally use a PDF research reports and statements which need to have a very controlled format. Usually, you can tell that it is a PDF file, because the document will have a toolbar customized with its own print icon. I think that in this case, dialog layout Page of Firefox is not used because the document is already pre-formatted. But I do not know why the preferences would not work in this case.
