RESOLVED: Ping: transmit failed. General failure

I am having some problems with the connection and rattling.  Right now, I only get not all ip addresses on all types of adapters, not even a 169.x.x.x address.  When I try to ping what anyone, including the 172.0.0.1, I get the error "Ping: transmit failed." General failure. "  I tried a system restore with no luck.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall my wireless network card driver and restart my computer.  I've never seen this problem before and am off troubleshooting options.  Any advice?  Thank you.

Solved the problem by doing a restore of the system and by performing a DNS flush. I don't know what caused the problem or what really fixed it. Normal is just a setting on a washing machine.

    Method 1:

    a. click on Start -> all programs -> Accessories

    b. right-click on command prompt and select run as administrator.

    c. type ipconfig/flushdns and enter.

    I don't know exactly the question that your question was separated from the previous thread.

    What you ping? Another computer on your network? You are in a domain environment?
    Are all the computers on your network, Windows Vista or Windows XP?

    One thing, you can check to go in the registry.

    1. open the Start Menu > run and type regedit and press the Enter key

    2. navigate to the following location
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa
    3. Locate the restrictanonymous key

    4. double-click on the key, set the value to 0 and press OK
    5. exit the registry and restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

  • Ping localhost error general failure

    I started to have problems to connect to some services the on my my computer Windows 7 64 ultimate after update Microsoft Security Essentials Client and restart.  Hello, JungleDisk, and other services are running, but nothing can connect to them.  I took some sort of network problem and then noticed that when I ping 127.0.0.1, I get a general failure error.  All other network interfaces on my machine work very well.  I tried netsh int ip reset and netsh winsock reset and that did not help.  I scoured the internet looking for resolution without success.  It is at the origin of the critical problems on my machine and I want to do everything I can to avoid reinstalling Windows.  I also tried in safe mode without a bit of luck. Any ideas?

    I finally got almost everything works again.  It was, indeed, Microsoft Security Essentials.  I tried different ways to force the uninstall and only of Revo Uninstaller has finally managed to get to a point where I could reinstall Microsoft Security Essentials without getting the message that it was already installed.  After that my closure still does not work, but then I was able to run the Microsoft Security Essentials real uninstall without getting the fatal error.  After that, I rebooted, reinstalled Microsoft Security Essentials and rebooted once more.  After that my localhost address had returned and the majority of services is now available.  There are a few issues I have with my credentials of service postgres probably because of the many things I tried the week last to solve this problem, but I hope that this is not really a problem of difficulty.

  • General failure on Ping and TraceRT by WAN IP for 15 minutes after startup

    My Windows 7 64 of Profession will expose this problem.

    After startup, it cannot access anything whatsoever outside the local network.  I can ping, DRC and usually access anything whatsoever on the local network, including the router.  But trying to access what anyone outside the LAN does not work.

    Ping Returns the Timeout on the first response, and then general of failure for the other three.

    Tracert immediately returns a general failure

    I am ping IP address, no domain name, is not a DNS problem.

    After 15 minutes or, the problem resolves, and starting the machine works fine.

    Occasionally (once a day or more), it will return to the problem of General failure for 15 minutes, then return to normal.

    The problem does not occur in safe mode with network.

    The problem occurs whether the user is logged on the machine.

    I have disabled the Windows Firewall to try to resolve, without success.

    I also installed McAfee.

    I would start by removing McAfee and using MSE at least to test.  You can not just disable McAfee, it should be removed and he is known for this type of problem.

    We have a laptop that had a problem and the restoration of the system was not an option.

    We have managed the problem by manually removing the antivirus (Avast) and laptop computer did start again.

    Now we have a new problem and it is that the laptop does not connect to the network regardless of what we are trying.

    • Repair of Windows 7 SP1 installation.
    • It's not Pick-up a DHCP address from the network.
    • When assign us a static IP address, it will yet talk network. With Ping, we obtain a GENERAL FAILURE.
    • No matter what network adapter that we use (Wireless, LAN or even install another network card) all show the same problem.
    • We tried the usual stuff reset the IP stack (netsh winsock reset.. and netsh int ip reset).
    • We tried to remove all network cards and install them again.
    • Check the file hosts for something strange.
    • System Restore did not work because there is no historical points that we could come back.
    • Check the log of network 2 events, we see the related errors:

    (1) NetBT - event ID: 4307 - initialization failed because the transport refused to open initial address.

    (2) service managed control - event ID: 7023 - The IKE and AuthIP IPSec Keying Modules is completed with the following error: failed to load.

    Any suggestion is welcome.

    1. We have exported all data.
    2. Took note of all the license keys, we managed to recover.
    3. Format the hard drive
    4. Install Windows 7, install applications and updates.
    5. Import data.

    No idea why Scan and Capture do not have on your system.

    I guess you could start over - resinstall HP Scan and Capture:

    Remove Hp Scan and Capture of the applications and features > restart > open Store > search for scanning and Capture > install

    Create a multiple page PDF file:

    • Single document pages > scan to computer
    • PDF documents of single page already on the computer

    NAPS2 provides several page scans.  I used it for these to create test documents.  How achieve you the exit depends on what you use for entry.

  • Intermittent "general failure" on ping traceroute

    I currently have a problem with a windows 7 pc where I get random disconnects Internet.

    I replaced the cat5 cables and even installed a new pci network card.

    When I do a ping www.google.com t I get constantly answers but every 5 minutes or so I get a "General" random failure

    I uninstalled my antivirus and even turned off my firewall

    Any help on this matter with this would be greatly appreciated I'm at a total loss as what to try next.
