Response printer speed

New PC with Windows 7 recognizes and installs my old Canon BJC 80 printer using a USB cable to parallel printer. Prints test page and documents OK but with a delay of several minutes between hittin 'Print' and out a page. Have a lot of cartridges so don't want to retire from the little girl still. Ideas please

Hi rwil1,

Thank you for your message.

I did some research on this issue.

What I see:

  • the printer is not compatible with Windows 7 (or Vista or XP)
  • Cannon said that using the printer with a parallel to USB dongle is not supported
  • you use the driver a another model appears to erratic works

We will probably not be able to do much more here, as the life cycle of devices puts end with XP and the end of parallel ports.

Honestly, I'm surprised that it works at all.

You can try looking for a parallel port card, if it is a desktop computer. Be aware of the compatibility of the cards, or you can be in the same boat.

If it is a laptop, I suppose this isn't a parallel port.

I saw that there was talk of an IR port, located somewhere on the printer (as there is in most laptops), but I don't know more than that.

I hope this helps.

  • Want 5530: Print speeds double

I'm unhappy with my 5530 want new all-in-one.

First of all, it would not print from MS Word documents with precision (is not WYSIWYG).  Repeated Downlods of the pilot has not solved the problem and I was finally told by HP to replace the Envy pilot with another, more generic HP driver (a crutch).  This solved the immediate problem, but may have introduced others.

  • When you try to print in XP, print speed is extremely slow

(From my point of view) problem is XP takes too long average print for printing - + 8 MINUTES for a document from Word to a single line.
Much more time for multi-page documents.  Print all successfully complete, later.  I have:

1 HP Photosmart 8450 due ethernet router DLink 655.

2 HP Officejet 6500 ethernet due DLink 655.

    3. Windows XP desktop ethernet due DLink 655.

4 Windows Vista laptop wireless for DLink 655.

Both XP and Vista print to HP Officejet in less than 30 seconds.  XP is Home Edition 2002 SP3.  Pentium 2G, 2G of RAM.

Vista prints in Photosmart in less than 30 seconds.  Given that Vista can print wireless at the Photosmart in seconds and the XP can print at the Officejet in seconds, I think that more than 8 minutes waiting for the XP/Photosmart is not an acceptable performance.

Have tried a number of solutions with no improvement in XP-to-Photosmart printing time.  It is:

    1. directly Photosmart desktop XP via USB connection.

    2. uninstall/reinstall the two printers on XP.

    3. change XP LPT_Timeout 3 sec.

4 disable HP Cue discovery at XP startup.

    5 disable the XP firewall.

    6. change IP Photosmart addressing manual, with no default Gwyn, on XP. (Officejet is set to auto)

7 Ran Network Diagnostics utility HP.  Everything was going well.

8 Ran HP printer utility of diagnosis.  May be a suspicion, but HPPDU listed two printers, but it would NOT diagnose or identify any technical info on the Photosmart.  There must be a clue here, somewhere, but I don't know where to go with it.

Windows Network Monitor 3.4 and run a number of traffic between the XP and Photosmart capture installed.  The captured images confirmed long printing:

    a. After entering the command print XP sends immediately 2 pings to Photosmart 8450; 8450 replied.

    b. immediately XP spoolsv.exe initiated a TCP 3 frame sequence 8450.

    c. 4 minutes later XP spoolsv.exe and 8450 exchanged 5 executives of TCP (3 of XP, 2 of 8450).

    d. 4 minutes later XP spoolsv.exe and 8450 exchanged 5 TCP frames.

    e. 1 minutes later XP spoolsv.exe and 8450 exchanged 7 TCP frames.

    f. 20 seconds later, XP spoolsv.exe and 8450 exchanged 6 TCP frames.

I tried the HP Support Forum, with little success so far and think it's a question XP (driver sw, spooler,?).  Would appreciate any suggestion, will try anything.

    Halima,

I think that I fixed my problem!

    1. I finished the fixit tool.  This led me to go XP printer/properties/Advanced/New Driver and run the Add Printer Driver Wizard.  Once I realized this, the impression on the reduced to 4.5 minutes 8450 before starting to print.  Still not very good, but a 50% improvement.  Not sure how I missed this before.  I had spent the HP support site and checked for updates from the HP driver and also checked out the site to update Windows sw for later.  Have never run new option XP driver, that has changed something, even if the wizard never showed that he has changed.  The HP driver seems unchanged.

    2. from your sw security issue, I revisited these programs - fire-windows, sw, sw anti-virus malware.  Previously, I had turned off the firewall, with no improvement.  Apparently I had not tried all the two 2 other programs.  Disable the anti-virus has no effect.  With only the sw off malware, the 8450 printing is now in 30 seconds or less.  This pretty much solved my problem, although I don't know what to do with the malware software, other than disabling him whenever I want to send a print to the 8450, or acquire a different malicious software product.  Still a bit confusing, because with the malware active sw, my other printer (6500) works to<30 seconds---always="">

Thanks for your help.  I think he has answered.

  • Laser Jet Pro M402: Print speed

  • DeskJet 5500: When the printer uses the 57 cartridge?

I thank very you much for your reply to my last post. Makes perfect sense.

I'm doing a huge amount of B & W / grey scale printing; I use 56 about two cartridges a week and I reload them successfully for a few tens of cycles each.

My 57 cartridges also mpty very frequently while I print almost any color - the only color is perhaps a small logo on the page.

I tried to use the gray filter in Macintosh 10.4.11 system to send a grayscale image to the printer, but the 57 cartridge still empty quickly, even if the printed color is negligible.

If the page still contains the least amount of color, 57 cartridge automatically prints the whole page, or the cartridge 56 prints black and the 57 print the little bit of color?

If the 57 prints the whole page if it contains ANY color, is there anything I can do in the impression of New York to get the printer to use the cartridge 56 instead? I took to remove the cartridge 57, but when I put again, the printer goes through the cycle of test page, I want to avoid if I can.

Thanlk in advance for your help.  I can't tell you how much it means for a user that a knowledgeable HP employee has actually answered questions through this forum. Other companies to let users themselves, often to hang in the wind without usable responses.

Many use printers, not only HP, so-called 'underprinting' this is the pose of an ink of color on the page before the black ink.  Essentially, it is a primer for the paper.  The color dries quickly and is a base for black ink, allowing it to dry and cure without spreading out on the page.  If you have already printed with the cartridges out of alignment and saw a blue or magenta shadow to your text, you see the underprinting.  That's why, when the same printing black text, the printer uses a color ink.

This printer is able to print reserve mode, which means it can print with 1 single cartridge installed.  The printing speed may be slower, but it's an easy way to make sure you are not using any color.  For reserve mode, remove the cartridge you want to use.  (Find a hermetic place to store this vertical cartridge with the nozzles pointing down as it is when it is installed in the printer, or it will dry out and become useless!)  To leave the reserve mode, put a good cart in the empty slot.

  • printing to hp deskjet 5650 extremely slow. Troubleshooting, checked the connections and rebootd did

Someone at - it a response?  Thank you!

This is caused by the failure of one of your cartridges.  Remove the black print cartridge and print a test page.  The printer prints at a normal speed?  Is therefore the black cartridge was the issue and needs to be replaced.  If it isn't then, put the black back cartridge in and remove the color cartridge and the test page printed.  If the printer now prints speed the color cartridge is responsible and must be replaced.

  • Extremely slow printing wireless with HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m

I see extremely slow print speeds when printing from a Mac or a Windows XP system on a new printer HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m wireless. The printer starts printing immediately when I request a print, but it only prints one line. It will take about 15 minutes then to print the rest of the page, each print after a very long break line. Print demo page doesn't exhibit this problem, only documents of programs such as Word 2008, Safari, and Firefox (I tried firefox on PC and Mac) are affected.

If I connect to the printer via a USB connection it prints very well, so this problem seems to be the only wireless printing.

    Printer: HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m
Computer: Mac mini (late 2009 model) (also tried a Windows XP laptop, by comparison using the latest drivers from the HP website)
OS: Mac OS X 10.6.2 with all available updates installed
Method of connection: cable Ethernet connection to the router wireless
Printer drivers: version 2.2.1 (Apple provided, drivers HP never installed as system comes with 10.6)
Wireless router: Apple TimeCapsule (early 2009) 1 TB, honing a/d and modes of b/g on 2.4 and 5 GHz. TimeCapsule is in transition as the DSL modem handles DHCP service mode
Encryption: WPA2 Personal, no MAC filtering or hide the SSID.

IP addressing scheme: all addresses are distributed by the server DHCP without reservation of any kind

The TimeCapsule is sitting three inches from the printer and the printer indicates the complete signal. Connecting the printer to the wireless network and setup of the printer on the Mac went off without a hitch. Only when you print a test document discover us the problem. The wireless network will behave as expected when you access Internet from Mac and Windows devices (tested with a laptop computer Dell XP and a MacBook with OS X 10.6.2), so I don't see any problem with the wireless network together.

    Attempt to use:
1 reboot and power off, wait, restart the computer
2 reset the print subsystem, the printer off and on again and reinstall the printer

    3. disconnect the power to the printer and let it sit for several minutes before trying to print wireless.

    None of them worked.

I don't know exactly what is happening... I'll have to think about.

Looks like you're running with the current configuration.

    Can we call this resolved?

  • HP Officejet 4355 printer suddenly start very slow printing! HP technician advice needed!

    Hello
My all-in-one HP Officejet 4355 printer start suddenly feel very very slow! I've had it for 4 years, and God never gave me any problems (maybe minor once, but never really made me mad), as I used it very often at home and at the office. I always buy the HP original ink cartridge (only once, when I wanted to see how works the charging - it's not) and now the last cartridge has been in the printer for a month or two, nothing unusual, and suddenly my printer starts to print very very slow, if normally it took 10-15 sec for a black and white page now it will take 10 to 15 minutes. Could someone suggest help?
Please don't talk about the computer/Windows/USB settings, they all work very well. I unplugged the printer from the PC and don't "align the print cartridge. First step, the printed area, took 10 minutes, second step, part of scanning, does not pass. It says printer cannot allocate the alignment page...
Moreover, I did look around for answers and found that some people say it's a fault of the ink cartridge. But I used this cartridge for a few months now, it's almost, but not yet finished, it was perfectly up to printing. Impressions during this issue come out OK, 7 out of 10.
Anyone have any ideas? If I could attract professional assistance of technicians of HP, it would be perfect.

    Thank you.

Although they still ink cartridge may fail and give the results you see, where the printer made a bandage and wait 10-15 seconds for the next Strip. This is caused by the failure of one of your cartridges.  Remove each cartridge and clean the contacts on the cartridge and printer can solve the problem.

I don't remember if the Officejet 4355 reserve mode supports, but try the following: remove the black print cartridge and print a test page.  The printer prints at a normal speed?  Is therefore the black cartridge was the issue and needs to be replaced.  If it isn't then, put the black back cartridge in and remove the color cartridge and the test page printed.  If the printer now prints speed the color cartridge is responsible and must be replaced.

  • OfficeJet 4500: Memory to print

My printer will start printing and not finish. It will print a few lines, then remove the paper. It is as if he has lost his memory for what was supposed to be printed.

    Hello @Meboysmom,

Thanks for getting back to me on this subject.

    • If you see only this printing problem in Word?

If this problem occurs with just the word that there may actually be a conflict that occur with your printer driver and the program Word. We can solve this problem with the software and driver troubleshooting.

If this problem occurs with multiple programs, that there is probably a connection, a driver or system problem printing material occurring.

Your printer has 32 MB standard memory. When you send a print job from the low memory in the computer, a printer can cause low printing speeds, but finally it is the print spooler that is built into your Windows computer that stores print jobs in the computers memory until the printer is ready to print.

To begin troubleshooting I have print you a standalone report on the print quality of your printer to make sure that all cartridges work as it should.

    1. Load the plain, white paper into the input tray.
    2. Press the Setup button () on the printer control panel.
    3. Press the right arrow key () to select print report, and then press OK.
    4. Press the right arrow key () to select the print quality, then press OK.
    5. The diagnostic report prints.

    • If the print quality is perfect: That the problem you are experiencing is not caused by your printer. Can I have it please click here to download and install Microsoft Fix it Tool. Once the site opens, select "Print, fax, scan, share or save" under step (2). According to step (3) select run now to 'diagnose and automatically fix problems printing and printer'. • If the report quality defects: That the problem you are experiencing may be caused by the printer. When you send a print job from the computer to the computer could send the job to the printer as a file of type image. In this case of the color ink will be used to enrich the black ink. This can be misleading because your machine can actually be no black printing and color could be 'create' black ink if you think that your machine is printing. However, if your printer does not print black ink and a print job is sent to your printer as a file type of the document that your page will print white color is not used. If you have problems printing quality on this quality report please click here. Once the support document opens please run through the two Solution, five Solution, Solution six, seven Solution, Solution weight and nine Solution. This includes all sub-steps under the listed Solutions.

  • OfficeJetPro 8610:8610 break when printing after upgrading Windows 10

Updated Win 7 to win 10 June 30.

My 8610 is connected via wifi - my ethernet is fiber 100

When I print, the page prints partially, breaks and the small wheel turns on the top line of the screen on the printer that says 'printing', then the rest of the page or to another section of the page prints, he paused, and then finish printing the page.

I've updated the drivers using oj8610_198.exe

    restarted

always the same sometimes two break sometimes pause.  happens on a basic text file.  printing single document.  no other pc are on.

It is more often annoying, but will become a big problem when I have longer and more complex documents to print.

I guess now (10 months? since the release of Win10, these kinds of issues would have been resolved).

    I won't go back to Win 7.

Is there some kind of configuration of amount of data that is sent in a block size which has been amended on Win10?

After reading several and searching online, I found other threads that discuss SLOW printing rather than breaks.

I did a lot of uninstallation and installation, disconnect and current blockage of the printer and son.

I found something that makes it tolerable == the break on my tests so far was minimal when they had become almost intolerable before.

Note: I tried this 'solution' several times and he shows no difference, on my last attempt I also clicked 'apply' in the printer properties box after that the driver has been installed and it works... I'm afraid to jinx it.

It is a very ridiculous work around and HP needs to FIX this on the 8610 pilot.  Also of note... why Microsoft only drivers for the 8610 in their list...

1 uninstall the unnecessary driver who is supposed to work on this printer.
    2. in Windows, go to control panel, printers, and devices.
3 choose your printer of bad conduct and make a right click on it and enter the printer properties
    4. Select the Advanced tab, and then next to the driver, select new driver
    5. in the new window of the driver, click Next, and then select Windows Update
    6. in respect of manufacturer select HP then under printers HP Deskjet 990c
    7. click on next and finish and voila! Why we need to use this alternate driver is beyond me.
So a lot of frustration, but it finally works great now for me.
    Hope this helps someone.
    See you soon!

    = end of block =.

    fingers crossed!

    ------

I have used this work around for a few days now.

I have no idea why, using the Microsoft for the Deskjet990c printer driver works on 8610 OfficejetPro but it does.  The printing speed is tolerable.  There is an oh so little break that I do remember not to pre Windows 10 print, but as far as I know who is pilot 8610 in OJ8610_198.exe does NOT work on my printer.  Breaks and jams are unacceptable and I was about to buy a new printer when the current batch of ink was used.  Hope that HP will correct the driver on the 8610.  My printer is only 2 years old and I really don't want to replace something like that.

  • HP psc 2175: very slow printing

We had Windows 7 installed on our office and our HPpsc2175 printer is marked forever to print anything. I just tried to install the other driver Deskjet 450, and it does make a difference. Any other suggestions?

    Thank you.

This is caused by the failure of one of your cartridges. I don't remember if the PSC 2175 will print with a removed cartridge, but try the following: remove the black print cartridge and print a test page.  The printer prints at a normal speed?  Is therefore the black cartridge was the issue and needs to be replaced.  If it isn't then, put the black back cartridge in and remove the color cartridge and the test page printed.  If the printer now prints speed the color cartridge is responsible and must be replaced.

If the printer will not print without the two coaches installed, you need to replace the cartridges; I would like to start with black as the most likely to be the cause.

  • the screen of my HP Photosmart Premium C310 has a question mark and not print any ideas?

I have no idea what to do... windows 7 - did nothing, but change the ink color & then try to print a file

Is there the error messages or just a question mark?

It looks like the printer may be in a blocked State.  I would try to run an ink system reset the printer.

    * Remove all cartridges from the printer

    Unplug the unit

Unplug the power from the power supply cord

    * Wait a minute

    * Plug the unit return to power without ink

    * Power unit on and install ink as unit ask cartridges

Also, try the procedure described in the document, found here, to troubleshoot a non-responsive printer.  I hope this helps.

Make sure that the printer software is installed on your computer, and that the "scan to computer" is enabled.  Where can I find "Scan to Computer" because he's not coming in all the view devices and printers, and none of the in-house research will find.  It has already happened and usually reinstall fix until the next update of HP or MS live it upwards again. This time I can't fix it. Mounting frustration.

    Hi @Winnifred

Thank you for using the HP Forums.  My apologies for jumping.

You can download and install the software COMPLETE features of HP printing for your operating system.

The following resources will help you:

HP printer install wizard for Windows
    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL50403/MP-150580-2/hppiw.exe

Once you have downloaded and installed the software, FULL of features, you will be able to print and scan.

    How to scan to computer

Once you have installed the software:

    1. click the printer (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP printer Assistant.
    2. in the menu analyze, there is a 'manage Scan to Computer', click on that.
3 make sure you have "Enable" Scan of the computer. Also, make sure that the tab "automatically start Scan of the computer when I connect Windows" is checked if you want to perpetuate this feature. (the following video will show you how)
