Restart after that a windows update problem with VirusScan from McAfee (total Protection)

I'm under 64-bit Windows VISTA Home Premium SP 1 on a Dell Studio 540 desktop.  8.0 GB RAM.  Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 CPU @ 2 .66GHz.
Late last night, I started the PC to go online.  Shortly after, I was invited by Windows update to restart.  So I closed off everything and rebooted, except that I kept scheduled analysis of McAfee, which I set up for Fridays.  I have McAfee Total Protection, which includes VirusScan.  That the PC would shut down, there was a message on the screen of McAfee who said, essentially, stop this scan before restarting.  I'm paraphrasing - I didn't write down the exact message.  After reboot, I started again the background anti-virus scanning.  After a few minutes, I received the following message:
Microsoft Windows
Order McAfee VirusScan Scan - Are asked to work and was closed. A problem with the application to stop functioning properly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.
I have not received a solution of Windows.  I completely uninstalled McAfee Total Protection, following the instructions of McAfee, then reinstalled.  Everything went very well with these processes.  I have yet to receive an indication of the McAfee software that something is wrong.  After the reinstallation, I tried a scan, but got the same error message as above after a few minutes.  It does not occur immediately, analysis continues for about 5 minutes, then abandoned.
Chatted with Dell today.  They suggested a system restore, I will try then.

What updates have been installed?

During certain infections that are designed to defeat security software will cause the bomb on analyses with an error.

I also suggest you contact the McAfee Support since it is their product which blocks.  http://service.McAfee.com/TechSupportHome.aspx?LC=1033&SG=TS

This morning my laptop, running Windows XP, was at the login screen, as if he had revived by himself--he had a message that windows had downloaed and installed an update of important security and need a re-start, which happened automatically. When the office came, instead of the blue background wallpaper Windows I use, the backgropund of the Office was white. All icons were there, but he was white instead of blue. I tried right click to get the display settings > desktop > and all the choices for office appear with a white background instead of the whatever they are supposed to be. Any help is appreciated.

  • my pc deleted after that recent windows update (September 8, 2011)

Im running a pc using windows xp pro (if I'm not wrong) and this is my work pc so I really need your urgent assistance.

My problem is that yesterday after completing my work I left it open and when I tried to close it later that evening, I saw there is an automatic update waiting to be installed. So as usual, I have chosen to stop after update install & let it do its work. The next day, when I turn on the pc all seems ok, but after the window logo download page I have to wait for about 1/2 hour before the appearance of my newspaper in the console. After entering my password the console disappear and nothing on the screen. The only thing that's on the screen is my wallpaper. There is no taskbar, no start menu, no desktop items, nothing. I can access the Task Manager by pressing ctrl + alt + del, but same thing, it took me like ages before it appears, and I realized that there is no explorer.exe running. When I tried to run explorer.exe this message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. May not be the appropriate permissions for access you to them.

I tried rto run chkdsk via the cmd prompt and it detected there is a problem with the file system and ask me to run chkdsk /f. But I can only perform after a reboot, as it is said there are program using the volume. Yet once it would take me ages to wait for reboot start (I did it using Task Manager) at startup windows run the chkdsk command it t wen smoothly as there is no problem, but still the same problem happen where I have to wait an hour before the appearance of the console connection and after connection nothing is there.

I suspect it might occur due to the new update that microsoft will invite me to install. I don't know what update, now I just ask to install before shutting down. I don't know if it's a virus or something, but currently I am using trend micro internet security titanium & ad-aware and on my final analysis there is nothing major execpt for some cookies. Can someone guide me if I could go back to my pc or uninstall the updated windows install for me? If I am not mistaken my pc ever point backup restore & never all together. I can't afford to re - format or reinstall windows because all my file work & work related email (outlook) are in the pc.

    Help, please!

    Hey James,.

Thanks for the suggestion earlier, but none of these work for me. Ultimately I have back to the top of my old hdd to plunge into another pc, backup all data and reformat the entire hard drive.
Anyway thanks for the help & appreciate your response.

  • After that usual windows update 5.7.1 Lightroom 64-bit does not work

Hello. I turned on my computer and it began with the usual stupid updates. After the update, the first thing I did was open to the top of lightroom. Lightroom came with a window in front of it saying "Lightroom has encountered an error when reading the preview cache and needs to stop smoking. Lightroom will attempt to solve this problem, the next time it starts. "The only thing you can do is to click on 'Ok' when I do both this window and lightroom closes. I open lightroom several times only to have the same problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled, same problem. I restarted my computer, the same problem. I just use lightroom yesterday without any problem. I have 10 windows and that you've had for a while now. I have no idea what updates have been, but I know it's one of those usual often happens when you turn on your computer. Anyone know what's the problem? And how to fix it?

This is not related to the update of Windows, the error message means that your preview cache is corrupt.

With Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder containing your Lightroom Catalog, usually inside the photos / Picures my file.

Delete the folder with the name ending by Previews.lrdata. Do not remove anything else.

Now, launch Lightroom and previews are rebuilt when you browse the library.

  • After the last updates of windows have problems with start up and now drivers

    Hello

After the last updates of windows have problems with start up and now drivers. I get an error code 21 when I try to install the drivers AMD apparently missing.

May 14, last night I had several (automatically) downloaded windows update

Today, I was unable to boot my computer with Windows - tried the disk check, start checks etc, and eventually had to use System Restore (for help before the critical update to restore).

Perfection, everything works, but knowing that windows will attempt to redo an automatic update, tried to check online - no one seemed to have a problem and (naivly) thinking I could always do another restore of the system, I rebooted again.

Same thing worse. Could not do a sys restore either just before restarting or last night. Chose a date earlier (last week) but then lost the USB drivers and pilots display. Downloaded updated but refuses to let my AMD driver install Windows I have a very unpleasant screen... and I must now stop the installation of this update "critical."

Would appreciate advice how do my installed display driver or whether anyone else has problems following this update

    Thank you

  • "Windows services Centre" call by saying that I have a problem with my internal security system

    Hello

I received a phone call from 'Windows Service Centre', James Henderson, employee of 406-235-1159, phone number #7098 (Yes, that's an indication 406 and 416 - which is one of the reasons why I'm suspicious), but gave a speech in Mississauga (Ontario), saying that I have a problem with my internal security system and even if www.ammyy.com I need to talk to the technician to solve this problem. I do not trust him and hang up, but called the number, responded to the same person (as he had an Indian accent with a lisp in addition to this) and he said that Joseph and not James!
    Scam or what? Thank you

It is a scam! Who is becoming extremely common and was even on the news in some places. As long as you don't give them any personal information, you should be fine. Should they call once again, simply hang up.

  • Photoshop elements 13 said that there was a problem with the download and recommend exit us and restart

We bought a new laptop and 13 items today. We spent the day trying to get it set up. We tried to download the 13 items at least 6 times. Whenever it took about 45 minutes to download, but when we open the file and click on set up it says that there was a problem with the download and it recommends that stop, restart and download it again? How we work what goes wrong? We had to remove the files and start every time. I don't have another day to try to get this sort. Should not it is just a matter of downloading and then, should not come with a message to install and we just press Yes and it works.

You can also download the trial version of the software directly (No Download Manager) through the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.  You should get two files, an executable file and a compressed file.  Run the executable file and it will install the rest.

Don't forget to follow the steps described in the Note: very important Instructions in the section on the pages of this site download and have cookies turned on in your browser, otherwise the download will not work correctly.

I guess my question is what I have to do a restore of the system under windows 7, before I can upgrade to windows 10? Or y at - it another way?

    Hello glockrow ;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about windows update problems and wanted to help.

I would that be able to say that updating to Win10 was an exact science where we know exactly how he does it, and what it should - but the flooding of this and other instances of Win10 problem after that problem indicates that, at best, we are all guessing.

So, I think, from what I've read and done on my PC, is that you SHOULD be able to avoid the problem of missing updates by updating using Win10 created using this MS link media: 10 Windows Installer using the media - Windows help authoring tool

After you create the DVD or USB, NOT boot from it. Instead, insert it into your PC and, if it does not auto-start, right click on the file setup.exe and run it.

HOWEVER - and this is important - PC Win7 have a rate low success updated Win10 without problem - primariluy lack of OEM Win10 drivers.  Typical problems include display artifacts (to cause to be obliged to use the driver for the card of Microsoft Basic), not wireless and touchpad problems.  The drivers Microsoft provides have only the most basic features, with none of the extras that the HP drivers bring to the stage.

It is further complicated by the function Win10 GoBack, whereby you can return to your original operating system, being known to be unreliable. So when your upgrade machine malfunctioning, only then you discover that you cannot return the machine to work, that you had originally!

You can protect yourself against ending up with a damaged machine - seriously considering using a free third-party product that works for airport Imaging/restoration - Macrium Reflect.

Macrium reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

So now you can recharge before with the upgrade, knowing that whatever happens, you will be able to return to your currently works in a few minutes.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.
