Restoration of an old Satellite A100-204

I am struggling to find any software at all for my Satellite A100-204.
I had to reinstall windows XP on it and obviously lost all software pre-installed to the touchpad, software control unit wifi etc etc. It's been a while since I used this machine, so I don't remember even what software have even called, still less how they worked!
The machine is a hand so I have none of the provided disks.

Is there anywhere in support of Toshiba systems to get the software for a machine of this old?

Thanks in advance.

I think Liam has already mentioned what you need: the drivers are placed in the archive area of the Toshiba UE driver page.
Installation command isn't very important; Simply start by current drivers such as chipset, LAN, WLan, etc.
Finally, install the Toshiba tools and utilities.

I found the compatible batteries on the Toshiba site Options & accessories.
However, I think that extending BRS or DOWN means the ability of the cells.
I guess that BRS is a standard battery and DOWN means that cells high capacity.

In addition, it should be possible to order that all batteries form the Toshiba service partner in your country.

  • Compatible battery for Satellite A100-204

I can't find any spare battery for my Toshiba satellite laptop A100-204. The original battery is a 4 cells Li - ion PA3451U-1BRS recycable. Whenever I look for this battery in google that I only find this for Toshiba M40.

It allmost looks the same, but I don't know if it is. Problem with my battery is empty after an hour, and I need more hours). Everything is still new well (got it last weekend), is this normal for a battery 4 cells?

I would be like a battery that lasts longer, 8 cells or higher if there are. But I don't know which are compatible and do not know how to look (in fact I do. I is not no noob and allways don't find my stuff, but it does not the way I'm looking for). Looks like the laptop is a bit rare...

Please help me find one that will fit and be sure of it:-D.

  • Recovery of old Satellite A100

Hello.. I'm new to this, so please be patient with me.

I have an 'old' Toshi A100 with Vista that I replaced with what I hoped would be a faster Toshi A660 Win 7 (because I could not stand Vista) and decided to try to reset the A100 back to factory settings so I could give it to my sister.
I had a Recovery DVD - ROM product that took me all night to figure out how to use...
I worked on that I was restarts from the HDD instead of the DVD.

In any case, I had once the Recovery Wizard to start successfully... He said he was copying the files... copy files... for ages and it came with an error message which unfortunately I did not write down, but something like "Cannot read the file" said called the management of stormwater? and some options to RETRY or SKIP, I hit RETRY, but it came up again so I hit SKIP.

Far she returned Copying files... then he came with a message of error again, I was not to write it again, but the DVD ejected, so I then pushed in. Then he said:
    "Bootmgr missing".
    Press CTR ALT DEL

Now, I can't restart the recovery process no matter what.

    I have a defective drive?

How can I recover it now?

If I m remembering good old A100 can be recovered with recovery DVDs only. At this time Toshiba didn t have the option to drive HARD recovery.
I really put t learn how you can begin installation of HARD drive recovery. As far as I know with original Toshiba recovery image something like this is not possible.

If you have the original recovery disk use for installing the OS. Before he set BIOS to settings by default, restart the laptop, press F12 at the next startup to enter the boot menu. Put the recovery DVD in the optical disc drive, choose the CD/DVD drive in the menu and press ENTER. Optical disc drive should start reading the disk, and you should see recovery on-screen options.

Can you do what you and send feedback?

  • Core2Duo on old Satellite A100

Hallo! Toshiba Satellite A100-692 with the most recent BIOS does support the Core2Duo with Socket M Merom processors?

    Hi mate,

Upgrading CPU is not officially supported by Toshiba and so nobody is able to say s CPU will work or not but as Akuma says you should try other models A100 processors.

The point is that the BIOS and motherboard must support the new CPU and only the preinstalled CPU is tested in this paper.
Moreover, it is an interesting article I think: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

  • How to restore Vista on old Satellite P300?

    Sorry it's a long.

I bought a new P70 to replace my old P300 that came with Vista and I now want to give it a new facility for the children to use. The problem is that I had partitioned the disk and had tested the betta and the version RC1 of Windows 7 before its release and he also had XP, now I can't get on the recovery drive holding the 0 key and did not have the repair option on the splash screen advanced when using the F12 key. I know that the Recovery partition is still there because I saw it when using a disk partitioning tool before you make changes and I'm deleting it.

After what I read I think that drive hidden (EISA Configuration) that holds the BCD, stored options for the 0 key and the menu key F12. I made backup discs when I arrived at the origin of the laptop and checked well records, but when I went to use it, they have been declared as corrupt so the only other option I had was the images I made with another program but cannot boot from the disc I made and I guess it's because of SATA drivers Win 7 could not be started or until what I injected drivers, just do not remember how I got them in the disk imaging.

So, if anyone knows where the option for the 0 key is stored, and I assume it's in the BCD himself, someone know how to recover it or re - write? The other option I can think is how the recovery partition is enabled and try to do otherwise. My oldest son has a more recent P300, is it possible to copy the BCD and its player hidden files to start mine? The other thing is when you restore from the recovery partition you need a Windows product key or is already stored on the recovery partition because I can never remember having seen one and I'm not one for my new P70.

    Any ideas?

After these modifications and tests with your P300, you will not be able to use the HARD drive recovery facility more. This works if the laptop has only factory settings.

Now, there's only one way to install the original use of Vista recovery disks. I m afraid you didn't create these disks, right?

Anyway, Satellite P300 is well known to me and my brother has the same machine. We updated with new SSD and installed Win7 on it. It works like a rocket. So my advice to you is to install Win7 on this machine. All the necessary drivers, the tools and the utilities that you can find on the download page of Toshiba - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

If you need help with it let me know.
One more thing: the product key at the bottom belongs to the original version of Vista and it cannot be used for activation Win7.

  • Satellite A100 - keeps freezing and crashing

    Hello
I've got a 2.5 years old Satellite A100. He was going well until recently, when I found that the pc freezes completely - this looks only happen when I move the cursor on the screen. The only thing I can do, it's a hard re-boot.
The problem has become more common, and I had to reinstall the operating system (using the disc that came with the laptop). After you have reinstalled everything worked well. But all of a sudden the same problem reappeared. I thought maybe it was different software clash between them and so I once again re-formatted the hard drive and reinstalled the operating system.
This time it froze once more as I move the mouse around the screen. But it's happened before that I had installed anything on the PC. It is an entirely new installation.

I also want to mention that this problem occurred first a year ago. At that time I had to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the OS and it worked fine until about 2 weeks ago, when I've updated my "spybot search & destroy ' software." It was after this the problem started again. The rest of the story is as above.

Just to mention that, after that the problem started 2 weeks ago, I reinstall the mouse driver using the touchpad driver that is available on the Web from Toshiba site.

Please help - I have been re - install the OS on / off power for 2 weeks now and I still have the problem. I am close to giong out and buy a new PC!

    Hello

It's strange, and I think it looks like a hardware issue because you used the disk recovery Toshiba and after that, the same problem occurs.

But it's not easy to say what causes this problem. You can check the RAM and HARD drive using Drive Fitness Test and Memtest86. Use Google to find the two programs. You can download an image bootable in these two programs. You must burn it to a CD and boot from it.
If the peut t-tests is a mistake your laptop should be checked by a technician for laptop.

Maybe you can find the problem yourself, and to swap the RAM or HARD drive, it's pretty easy.

  • Satellite A100 - buttons on the touchpad enabled without clicking

I have a laptop pretty old (Satellite A100).
My touchpad is upward - the left keeps activating button that no one touch.
Is there something specific I should do to fix this?

I tried updating the driver and restarting the computer several times - no luck so far. My knowledge is pretty basic, so I would appreciate the simple answers in layman's terms... Thank you very much!!

Hmmm I think that it s touchpad hardware question too.
So, I agree with Akuma parts needs to be replaced.

  • Satellite A100-386 - how to upgrade the BIOS?

    Hello

I wanted just to update my old Satellite A100-386 with 4 GB of RAM (2x2gb Crucial) instead of 1 GB, as I am now running Windows7 Pro 64 bit instead of the original XP 32.

I read that I had to upgrade the BIOS as mine is v2.00. So, I downloaded the last of them.
It seems to be an automatic upgrade of BIOS (S10V600.exe) as mentioned on the site Web of Toshiba.
But when hit the .exe, I have a box of error message saying:
"LOADPEDRV. "EXE: could not start the service.

My question is: do I have to be 32-bit OS to run the upgrade of the automatic BIOS or is it possible to Flash the BIOS with a Windows7 64 bit OS run?

Thanks a lot for all answer as I found no 'how to' in search on this forum.

    Best regards
    François

    Hi FPSim,

Who said that you need to update the BIOS to upgrade RAM? The maximum RAM capacity depends on the motherboard and chipset and not BIOS.

Official website of Toshiba, I have seen that the model supports 4 GB of RAM so the BIOS update is not necessary. Increase the RAM and everything is ok.

  • Satellite A100 display empty but external vga works

    Hello
my two-year old Satellite A100-847 screen has stopped working. I used the external VGA monitor for a few days,
and then switched back to laptop computer LCD and discovered that it doesn't work. It shows nothing, only the gray backlight.
The LCD does not work even at start-up in WIN XP, or AC or battery power. I tried to disassemble the screen according to some guide
to check if the cable is firmly in his place in connection to the LCD, but it has not solved the problem.
I use the original BIOS and the somewhat updated nvidia display driver, it worked fine until now, so I suggest this isn't a driver/bios problem.
(but maybe that is it, so I tried to install the original display with no effect driver.) I don't want to try to Flash the new bios and meet up with Kiss to the top view and bios too)
Video output for external monitor is quite well, start-up or in the victory.

Everyone sees a solution, please? Or should I just go to the service provider...
    Thank you
    Pepe

I think that it s a hardware problem of the display or the FL-inverter.
The FL inverter is part hidden somewhere close to the screen.
It controls the backlight of the display.

So you should go to an ASP, they can order the parts and exchange it or looking to ebay for a complete display and Exchange yourself.

  • Satellite A100-784: fact partition system restore DVD formats

    Hi guys,.

I would ask you for help :)

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-784 with Windows Vista Home Basic OEM.
I have this Toshiba system recovery DVD. If I press F8 during start up I get to the screen where are some options (repair at startup etc.) but I'm interesting in 'Exploitation Windows System Restore'.
    I have two partitions (C:, D :), the system partition is C: :)
So, I would ask if I use this "Exploitation Windows System Restore" there he reformatted data on the D: partition as well?

If I press F8 when booting I get to the menu, I chose this computer repair and after that there are options:

    1 startup repair.)
    2 system restore.)
    Restoration complete 3 PC.) Windows
    Memory 4 Diagnostic tool.) Windows
    5. command prompt)
    6 operating system restore.) Windows

Is it possible to use one of these function just to reinstal C: partition without losing data on the D: partition?

    Thanks for the reply :)

    Hi friend

usually the system restore the c: partition fair DVD formats, so if you have two separate partitions, the restore DVD should leave the D: partition intact.
In your case I would choose point 6. (Operating system restore) that supposedly only restores the operating system, which means that it scratches the C: drive...

Thank you for using Windows XP edition family SP2 not SP1. I installed Windows XP SP2 home edition on the new Satellite A200 and if I can do it on the A200 you can do this on A100 also.

    Hello

If you n t find the recovery disk more and you want to restore the original settings, ask an authorized service provider. Guys can put in order a new disc of recovery for you.
You have the address of the guy?

Alternative, you can also sell the laptop without recovery disks. Just wipe the HARD drive before selling it with the HARD drive like s boot cleaning tool Darik and nuke or some other program.

But I think you get a better price if it comes with recovery disks ;)
