  • New phone blackBerry, old OS Smartphones? Torch 9800

I bought a new Torch 9800 about 2-3 months from an authorized dealer.

Today I checked my iOS and noticed that it was 6.0.0.570.

I also noticed that iOS 7 was released a few months before, I bought my phone.

I was wondering if there is a way to update this iOS?

I found a few questions asking this question, but it's all about phones purchased before the release of iOS 7.

So is it possible to update this or am I stuck with iOS 6?

There is no such thing as iOS for a BlackBerry smartphone.

the 9800 is only a feature of BlackBerry OS 6

  • Screen blackBerry Smartphones BB Torch 9800 freeze

My mother and I have upgraded to a BB Torch 9800 about 10 hours ago from Wal-Mart and so far the screen froze on me six times, and the only way I can understand how to solve this problem is to give the phone a hard reset.

What is happening is that we are in the middle of something, as the alarm setting or by choosing a wallpaper, and the device cannot return to the previous screen, or exit from this screen at all. We can change the parameters of the task that we do, but we can not save or return. The keys are block.

And no, we did not yet have the ability to set a password yet. I thought that maybe it was caused by the Otter Box by pressing the locking button, but it happens even when the Otter Box is off.

We two are new to BB and smartphones in general, having Samsungs for a few years. My freeze has happened twice in the last hour, and I can't for the life of understand me why.

    Info on the device:

    Carrier: AT & T

    BlackBerry Torch 9800

    Free file: 318787616 bytes

No Apps or not downloaded music, only the texts and calls attempted.

    $15 data plan

    There 9.

OK, this sounds like faulty software in this case.  It is possible to reload the operating system if you want to try it, but if you would rather simply exchange for another, I could definitely see that as well.

If you try to reload the operating system, you can do so by following the steps located here:

In fact, you may be able to retrieve it without the drastic recommendation above. I recommend that you try to start safe mode:

    • KB17877 How to start a smartphone BlackBerry in Mode safe

It will take several attempts to get the combination of keys ESC (press/release/hold) OK, so be patient. When properly in Safe Mode, remove the offending application:

    • KB10040 How to view or delete applications on a BlackBerry smartphone

Only in cases where the application has caused corruption OS a full reload of the OS should be demand... but if it's just a bad application behave, Safe Mode will allow you to remove it.

Good luck and let us know!

Go to the browser and press the menu button (button with a symbol of BlackBerry) and select options, select the browser once again in this screen, press the menu key and select default settings. (If this option is not there means that the default settings are already in place)

  • BlackBerry 10 restore backup of the Torch 9800 to Z10

    Hello

Is it possible to restore the data from your backup of your 9800 on the new z10? I understand that there may be some problems of slight compatibility, but in general, contacts, SMS/MMS/Email etc., will be those catering for the Z10 or not?

Bit confused as heard that the Z10 is not compatible with the blackberry software, you get on the CD to put on your PC... I have to go old skool and write all my contacts in a paper directory (please not lol)...

The new z10 using a new program called link BB, download you it from the Blackberry site and install it on your PC. His replacement of Desktop Manager. To answer your question, you cannot restore your data from a backup file with BB Link to your new Z10. But you can transfer a device on the z10 (Contacts, calendar, contacts BBM etc.).

BlackBerry will update the link BB software to allow you to synchronize our contacts with Outlook via USB. Many people are synchronization with outlook.com and other cloud services.

  • BlackBerry smartphones new Torch 9800 user - need help with the Message 'Conversation' feature

I just spent to an older Blackberry Curve to the torch. I'm used to standard text "and will answer' or 'create a new SMS' but T-9800 'Conversation' feature SMS is maddening - all SMS communications with a contact are transferred in a single conversation, regardless of the date or content. I am also unable to send separate replies to individual SMS - just one more in the conversation messages.

When I checked the text Message Options, the option to display only that I could find was for the 'Bubble' or 'Line'. I also was not able to find all the features that allow the user to put an end to a conversation with a contact or start a new one.

If someone has encountered this? If so, is there an option or feature I'm on just to correct these problems? And of course, how?

    Thanks in advance!

Consulted several other forums and just had a face to face with Best Buy rep - looks like the term/phrase I was looking for was "SMS threading"... and there is currently no option on the current operating system of torch for clear thread of SMS functionality.

Well - it is what it is. I'll have to take consolation that, apparently, I'm not the only one who had a problem with the thread SMS functionality, and a possible fix might be made available in the next software update.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB Torch 9800 hangs on reboot

I installed app called Dropbox, and it said it was installed, but the screen was frozen so I couldn't choose OK or run, then after about half an hour, I pulled the battery. Now, it is hung during startup, with the progress on slot bar Y in Blackberry.

Hi, thanks for the reply, but I had already found KB27956and crossed my fingers clenched my teeth and reinstalled/updated operating system. Worked very well - I had saved the BB a few days before, so went all my contacts, etc.. He also left the single media card, so it's been nice.

One thing that took me a bit to talk to enter the order became the BIS to revalidate my vmobile.blackberry.com account, but I finally got to the tier 2 support to the Virgin, who thought the problem was way more complicated it was until he finds the password reset button. Thanks for getting back to me, however.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB Torch 9800 touch screen does not work...

My BB Torch worked very well... so I took the charger and the touch screen wouldn't work at all.  I deleted the old emails and text messages, and even ensured that all the photos saved on the memroy card to free up RAM memory.  But my touch screen just stopped working and still does not work.  Any ideas?  The phone is more than 1 year old and has served me well.  I have the latest downloaded OS, but don't know if there is somewhere a software error or if the phone is all give up!

Yes, it was the first thing I tried like 10 times. Turn the data cable that connects the upper part of the cursor to the bottom of the phone was the culprit. This also is attached to the 'mouse' trackpad and causes the work does not correctly. I was told that it is a problem that is typical with most slider phones and not difficult to solve. Fortunately for me to be here in the Middle East there is a lot of available mobile phone shops, and I fixed it in about 6 hours to include a new hard plastic protective case, a new trackpad mouse and a screen for about 80 $ US protector.

  • Icon phone blackBerry Smartphones BB torch 9800 does not turn?

Why does the screen not turn when you are in the phone touchscrees icon?

Also, how can I connect my phone to my laptop and use the telephone for the use of the internet for laptop?

    pspknox wrote:

Because when it is used as a phone, it fits your ear in Portrait mode, where the "phone app" and call log work only in portrait mode. I know, sorta sill, but it's like that.

  • Smartphones blackBerry BIS override settings for the default mail provider?

So here's my situation. Recently, my college did this swtich to use an exchange server to manage e-mail to google apps. As it happened that I did receive emails on behalf of my school on my blackberry or Apple's mail application. It seems that my school did not day of the information out there to take account in the e-mail settings information database, googles servers. On my Macbook, I solved this problem by removing the account in my prefrences and then disconnected from the internet, so the mail app could not refer to the e-mail and then settings Apple database I entered the google imap server info manually. The problem is that I can't force BIS do not reference the list e-mail settings. Whenever I have delete and readd my bis school account it automatically recognizes as an Exchange account so that I can not add google imap settings. Is anyway around this or should I wait for my school contact RIM to update their new email settings?

Thanks in advanced for any help!

Hello and welcome to the community!

You can do... When you configure e-mail settings, put in the correct email address, but a bad password. This will result in it re - to ask for credentials. But he added, at the bottom of the screen, a tick box to supply the settings manually. Check this box and continue.

    Good luck!
