Restore from 5 to 7 new +?

I have an old iPhone 5 that is stored in iCloud.  I just pick up a new iPhone 7 + and tried to restore from iCloud.  After a minute or two, I get a message "cannot restore the backup.  Now what?

  • Restore from Time capsule, but new files on the target machine, won't be wiped out

I'm trying to move files between two MacBook, however, I have been using the new MacBook for a while (like a year) and a lot of files/images/person of the most recent data on it (dataset B for example).

So I recently did a full backup on my older MacBook (say A Dataset).  I wonder if I do a "restore" time capsule backup (data set A) against my new MacBook, the new dataset would B be destroyed?

My desired outcome is to have the dataset A + B all in my new MacBook.

DataSet B backup, restoration of A DataSet, then restore DataSetB.

Please, do not restore OS X from A DataSet.

  • Restore from iCloud to a newer version iPhone

I just got a replacement phone. It's an iPhone 5. I backed up my old iPhone to iCloud 5 this morning.

Now, I'm trying to restore my apps, settings, photos, etc. for the new device, but iCloud says no backup is available.

If I can't restore my files, etc for a newer iPhone? That doesn't seem fair.

If I backup iTunes, can I restore icloud?

Is it possible that the replacement phone that you received is on an iOS that is older than the phone that you have backed up this morning? I suggest updating the replacement phone, and then you should be able to restore your backup.

You can't iTunes backup and then restore icloud. iTunes and iCloud backups are two different things.

Time Machine backup to a sparsebundle.

The sparsebundle will use the share name of computer. So, it should be obvious who is your Macbook and that is your Macpro.

Open the sparsebundle in Finder and keep open the subfolders until you get to the backup of each separate hard drive...

You has of course set the exclusion in Time Machine?

By default, Time Machine will exclude your second drive unless you have included it. Did you?

Once you get to this level during the backup, you can do a full restore manually whenever you want.

    Hi Isakale,

I understand that you're having trouble for OS X installed and restored from your Time Machine backup. In a situation where you work with a configuration of non standard volume for your OS X installation, you can consider installing OS X of the recovery of the Internet, the upgrade to the desired version of Mac OS X via the App Store, then your Time Machine data migration using the Migration Wizard, rather than recovery.

Migration Wizard copies all your files to your new Mac so that you do not have to the do it manually. If your files are currently on a Windows PC, follow the steps in the migration of the PC instead. If your new Mac uses OS X Mountain Lion or earlier, follow the steps of Mountain Lion instead.

Recent Macs include the ability to run directly from a Web OS X Recovery version. Your Mac will automatically use this feature when the recovery on the startup disk system is not available. For example, if your boot drive is a problem, or if your boot drive has been replaced or deleted. Recovery of the Internet allows you to start your Mac directly from Apple servers. This system starts running a quick test of your memory and the hard disk to check for hardware problems.

Recovery of the Internet initially asking you to select a Wi - Fi network and enter a password for the network if necessary. Then Internet recovery downloads and starts from a system recovery image. From there on, offers the same options and utilities like system recovery on a startup disk.

Some Mac shipped with OS X Snow Leopard can use Internet after installation of OS X Lion or later and a software update.

  • Update iPhone 4 iOS 7 and restored from iTunes, but still called to restore/establish new

With the help of iTunes on OS X, I first saved my iPhone 4 and then selected Update.

When it was full, the phone rebooted, then once I had entered my language and region, he gave me 3 options to Set Up iPhone:

    • -Set Up as new iPhone
    • -Restore icloud backup
    • -Restore from iTunes backup

So I proceeded to restore from iTunes, by using a backup from before the upgrade.

My problem: applying the restoration has not gotten me a more far - the phone brings back me to the page select a language, then back to the above 3 options. I tried once again sync in iTunes, but also backup to restore, nothing helps. WiFi is on, and I can see my mobile operator name in the upper left corner, so the phone is certainly up and running, but I can not go beyond the stage of installation.

Which will be * restore iPhone *? It takes back me to iOS 4? With my phone already restored and now successfully upgraded from iTunes, how can I'm past the stage of configuration?

You cannot restore an iPhone with iOS 7 aboard a backup performed on iOS 6 or an earlier version. Most likely, it is the cause of the problem.

  • How can I save my iPhone if it's not new and I don't want to restore from old session?

So, I've been really bad at backing up my iPhone. I have the iPhone 6 and had essentially when it came out. I backed up the phone right about then (11/10/14). Since then, I've only really imported my photos in iPhoto, but has not actually backed up the phone to iTunes.

So now when I back up my phone, the 2 options are: set up as new iPhone or restore to the last backup (over a year ago).

I fear that one of these options will erase the info on my phone that I really want to backup (for most people).

Still more worried that one of these options will remove all the pictures, I have in iPhoto? Which is possible? Are those that are related? I mean, if I've already imported my photos in iPhoto and leaves then say I restore from old backup, he would not touch the files in iPhoto, correct? It would erase the photos on my phone? (I ask because I know pictures are part of the backup in iTunes).

Basically, I need advice. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each option? And is there a way to simply make a new fresh backup with this phone without "set up as new" (which is wiping clean) or "very old backup restore" (which is put old info on and deletion again)?

Both options seem to be bad for me right now, and I'm afraid to try one or the other for fear that I just screw up. Help, please!

When you are presented these two options (set up as a new or restore from last backup), can you do the following:

Choose any of these options.  Leave these options stay there and ignore them.  Use instead the iTunes menu to select:

    File > devices > upward

I don't know if the above is possible.  But if this is the case, try again.

new iphone 6s said needs to update itunes before restoring from itunes? How do update you a phone not yet active?

You need to update the version of iTunes on your computer, not the iPhone.

If you are using a Mac, use the App Store app to install iTunes updates available.

If you are using Windows, download the latest version of iTunes from the Apple website.

  • Virtual machine does not start after restoring from Time Machine to the new Imac

I got my IMac replaced by Apple, after that they could not fix the old one.  They did a full restore from a Time Machine backup.  The virtual machine does not open now.   When I navigate to the file to try to open the virtual machine at the VMware logo in the bottom right of the icon displayed with large yellow exclamation appears on the icon?  Anyone encountered this problem before.  I'll take the Imac in Saturday if I can not solve.  The machine has the same size as before.  There are a few aspects of sharing with the Mac application miss me?

According to the MacVirt.vmdk folder, you have the right number of segments of shared disk so you should be able to create a new VM by pointing to the disc in the new VM Wizard by pointing to the MacVirt.vmdk file.

Note: After you create the new Virtual Machine, I would not suggest the Virtual Machine to stop, pause and close merge and then move all *.vmdk files in the package of the virtual machine, and then manually change the computer configuration files virtual .vmx and change the path to a little to view the MacVirt.vmdk file.  In this way, everything is in one package and is easier to maintain.

  • iPhone 7 restore from iCloud still holding

Hello, I have a new iPhone 7. Recently, I had saved my old iPhone 6 and wanted to restore the new iPhone 7 of my backup. I started the process of restoring the day I got my phone and it of been two weeks and is apparently still restore. I often have my phone on and loading and very good WiFi connection, but the restoration has not yet completed. I have some new updates to iOs which must be installed but that cannot be done until the restoration is complete. What should I do? When I look at my phone, it seems that I'm not missing any information. Any suggestions?

He says that it restores from a backup on your lock screen, is thus that which is telling you that he has not finished?

You have the ability to stop the restore process when you go to settings > iCloud > Backup? If so, then stop it. It could be an application that has not been fully downloaded, or other media that has not yet downloaded. I got my iPhone do that once in a while and like you, could see nothing which has not been restored. Maybe it's stuck saying it restore even if it's really over. A restore of backup should not take more than a few hours at most.

If you do not see a way to stop the restore, then reset your unit: hold the home and power buttons at the same time and continue to hold until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the reset is complete, the lock screen is displayed.

    See you soon,.

I just got my new iphone 6 mailed yesterday. I tried to restore from my latest backup the previous day. It begins with the progress bar and crosses all the way. When it gets to the end, an error message that says that it is impossible to restore the iphone. When you try and reselect the last backup, it then gives an error message that says that it is impossible to connect to the server. I don't know if it's a phone, icloud or IOS 10 issue.

  • Cannot repair the photo library. The best way to restore from iCloud library?

The photo library of the system is damaged and cannot be repaired.

It is said "Photos has attempted to repair the library"Pictures Library 2015 ", but can not open it." .

I first met problems with this library a week before and at the time where I could repair and open the library successfully, but lacked a month value of photos.

Given that it was successfully in the iCloud library, I left it to re - sync - but this process suspended several times before the end, and the photo library of the system now seems to be permanently damaged.

I have no project of marked or impression of faces in the photo library of the system, then I would be happy just to restore from iCloud.

My plan is to put in place a new - empty - library and then that designate the library of the system.

If I understand this right, the new (empty) system Photo library will now resynchronize with iCloud and will copy all the contents of this library of back to my Mac.

Is this correct? It is the most effective way to restore my library?

And while I'm here - what is the best way to manage a very large library? I had my photo library become corrupted ten three or four times over the past years and have found it necessary to divide into single years to prevent this. I overlooked this piece of household by the end of 2015, and now it's happened again... Surely, there must be an easier way to manage libraries of images of several years?

Is this correct? It is the most effective way to restore my library?

Yes, if you don't have a useful upward on your Mac.

How do you call a large library, I've never had a corrupt Library, I think that your problems are not the result of the size of the library, but rather something else. From my experience it is recommended to maintain a local upward, I use Time machine, but also have a second to the top using a third-party backup solution.
