Restored Time Machine not listed e-mails is not in the mail

I am running Yosemite and Mail 8.2. Somehow, I lost my entire mailbox. I went to Time Machine to do a restore to my Inbox. I have 6700 + emails. I select them all and click on restore. The computer does its thing and then displays a message saying 6700 + restored messages. Yet, nothing shows up in my Mail box. I tried with different numbers of email even only selected messages. No luck. While they hide somewhere?

Thanks in advance for the help. I feel very lost without my e-mails.

They are not restored directly to the Inbox. They will be in a restored file slot on my Mac. If this section is not expanded, place the cursor on it and choose display. Look for the restored mailbox. You can select the messages here and move them where you need.

  • Backup Restore Time Machine: not enough space

Hi all, I am a neophyte tech so forgive me if I'm not clear. I will try to explain the problem as best I can:

I have an old MacBook 2009 running Mountain Lion. A few months ago, my brother gave me his old Pro and so my MacBook 2009 fell by the wayside. I used an external hard drive with that old computer as my backup time machine, but as I tried to transfer a lot of documents and photos and update of dropbox and download photos of google and to understand each of these things as I went along, I totally messed up the MacBook. Just... things are weird... nothing was, where it used to be and my photos were gone and Yes, much of this is probably down to me trying to understand a bunch of new programs at once, BUT what I want to do is to restore it to the way it was using a time machine backup.

So, I googled around and I know when I start it up until I'm supposed to press Ctrl + R and choose the backup that I want, but when it gets to the part where I select a destination and click the only option (the Mac HD), an error message appears with a yellow flag saying "this disc is not enough space to restore your system.

Now, I don't really know what that means, but what I want to do is to get rid of the current way, this computer is completely and attach it to the way it was when I did the last Time Machine backup.

Someone help me please... this stuff is so frustrating when I can't figure it out for me and I am sure that there is an easy solution. I read a lot about partitions etc. but I don't know what all of this means that even.

    Thank you in advance!

  • Backup Restore Time Machine does not see RAID external drive

    Hi all

I have a problem with my iMac restore from a Time Machine backup, and I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem already.

I had to reinstall OS X El Capitan from scratch, based on education, I received Support from Apple. That worked without problems and my iMac works fine. However, I wanted to restore it to how it was before, using Time Machine. I keep my backups on a LaCie 5big Thunderbolt 2 and never had any problems with it.

To restore the system, I followed the instructions on the Support page. I restarted my system in recovery mode and selected the "restore from Time Machine backup". Unfortunately the LaCie 5big does not appear on the list of drives, so I'm stuck... When you use the system in normal mode, the external RAID is visible and Time Machine stores backups on it without any problem.

Any of you are familiar with this problem? I would be very grateful if you could help me with this problem!

    Kind regards

    Valerio

    Hello

-While the system is booted in recovery mode, confirm that the Lacie 5big network is visible in disk utility.   You will need to disconnect / reconnect the Thunderbolt cable to the Lacie 5big be detected.

-Once seen, a new attempt to restore from Time Machine backup.

  • Restore Time Machine wifi data in neutral

Help! Today I return MacBook Air of my wife in an Apple Store. They fixed a software problem. Apple wiped the hard drive, but the Air has been saved our Time Machine network. Apple has installed the latest OS X, but not the data of my wife. This, I thought, would be easy and simple.

The problem is with the restore / recover the process. The recovery process looks fine. I selected the data to be restored and the 40,000 more files seem to be download nominally and after about 20 minutes, he seemed to be almost done.

However, the process is at a standstill, apparently at the end. On the page titled "Transfer of information", it says "one minute remaining to 17 MB/s". While the number of MB/s continues to fluctuate (10, 18, 15, etc.), this statement is still. (see image below) It has been like this for more than one 1 & 1/2 hours.

I am following up the wifi connection and it is strong and fast.

Should I click Cancel and see what happens? Suggestions

It won't hurt to let you it run for a few hours.

If it succeeds, then stop and restart the computer and the TC.

Don't allow TM to do a new backup... it's essential... you must first pick up these files...

No chance you can do a full restore to a new location. It's pretty simple to do... but the wizard configuration rather than migration.

  • Restore Time Machine tips

So, got a mac mini and 3 weeks ago started to have the full boot disk.  We continue deleting some files iTunes, photos, some of the videos, additional programs, but nothing seemed to have more than 2-3 GB gone - and then it would be up to 300 MB of space in one day (it doesn't seem to stick, even if we took off 20-25 GB of music, photos and videos. program).  Therefore abandon us this path and moving to an iMac with a much bigger disk (3 to vs 750 GB).

Question I have is the best way to approach - as part of the attempt to find the space, we have removed some iTunes files and movies, I want to keep.  My thought was so start the new computer, and then on Wizard migration use to take a TM backup before we started to delete stuff, say 3-4 weeks ago and that restore.

Curious if this makes sense and/or the traps on this.  Also, the other option, when first setting up I think is to do time Machine.  Are there specific advantages or disadvantages of one way or another do?  In theory, I could try just move the photos and videos in another drive to drive hard, but not sure I have everything on my second TM while backup it should have.

    Thoughts/advice?

  • Backup Restore Time Machine after 10.11.3 downgrade to 10.10.5?

I am installing a purchased copy of Capture NX2 photo of Nikon editing software on my MacBook Pro retina 2015.

I learned that I can only install this software on a machine running upward for OS X 10.10.5 (Yosemite) and that after an upgrade to El Capitan software will still work.  (The software cannot be installed under El Capitan, confirmed by Nikon)

I had a Time Machine backup of my 10.11.3 system, lowered to Yosemite with a new installation of a boot USB disk, installed the Capture NX2 without difficulty. Works very well.

Now, I would like to restore from backup Time Machine El Capitan, but maintain the installation of the software (i.e. I don't want to replace all of the disk). Yosemite will not let me restore from backup Time Machine of El Capitan (see the files, but will not allow app or restorations of the photo library)

Is it still possible?  What I need to solve this problem by having an El Capitan and Yosemite a partition on my hard drive?

    Thanks in advance!

It seems that the plan was to go down, install the software, then upgrade.

Have you tried to upgrade, and then use the Migration Wizard to migrate the data from the backup?

  • Time Machine-not enough space error

    Hi all

I had to unplug my computer and move it to another room and now after all hang up, I get this message "not enough space for full backup". There are about 150 GB to 2 TB disk space as it is filled with iTunes and Time machine backups.

I guess it's because ever since I hooked everything back up Time Machine think it is made the first backup of everything rather than pick up where he left off when he made the last backup?

Please tell me that I shouldn't let it save it for the first time again. It took an eternity to accomplish this last time as the computer kept going to sleep.

    Thanks for any help,

  • Backup from Time Machine not recognized

Hello. I have a mid-2011 21 "iMac 2.8 GHz i7 with 16 GB of RAM, running 10.11.4, El Capitan. My old 1 TB HDD (HARD drive) was giving me problems (grinding and draw and he had considerably slowed down), so I backed up the computer with Time Machine (which I did for years), and I bought a 1 GB SSD from OWC replacement kit. I installed it in the hard drive, location in my iMac, reinstalled the operating system, and the new drive is running great. No problems with it.

The drive Time Machine is a disk HARD Seagate 2 TB external drive connected by USB to the computer.

So, my next step is to transfer the old news of Time Machine in the new drive. I tried first Assistant Setup in recovery mode, but the Machine of the time in the car was not found (recognized). When I started normally, the drive of the Time Machine is visible on my desktop, and backup files appear in there.

So, then, I ran on the drive disk utility. I could not launch 'repair' the disk as a whole (the button is dimmed when I click on the disc), but I fix the partition on the disk. No not found errors.

Then I went in the Migration Wizard to move the files. But I had the same problem as before - Migration Wizard does not see the Time Machine drive.

So. I tried to enter Time Machine 'Star Wars' show on the computer and dated backups appear on the right side of the screen, but then, when I go to look at, it does not appear that there is something in them.

I kept the old drive HARD and (in panic), I ordered a box to put the old drive, and I'll try to get the files this way. But, I still want to use the files on my Time Machine drive.

At this point, the only thing I have to save my documents, my pictures and family videos and music. If only I could get in the 'Home' on my Time Machine backup folder by clicking on the player, I will manually install the files 'Desktop', 'Documents', 'Movies', 'Music' and 'pictures '. I don't know if this is possible, and I have never done this. I don't like not everything 'Applications', or anything else, so I'm willing to do the grunt work on those reinstall the old way. Can manually install you the items in the folder to the home page of Time Machine in another drive?

Any advice you can give literally will save me! I'm kinda at a loss on what to do. The last time I used Time Machine to do this (to transfer the files on the iMac 2011) it worked like a charm.

    Thank you! Clay

  • time machine, not the size hourly backups

I've been running Time Machine on a large partition of a hard drive external backup since June 2012.

I noticed a week ago about 13 December 2015, the TM backup used disk space faster. I found that TM was maintaining all hourly backups since November 1, 2015. It was delete no, he wasn't going to the daily or weekly. So I have every hour Nov. 1 to Dec. 20 (so far) of backup 2015. No idea why started from that date either.

I then ran disk utility to repair the TM and initially found some mistakes (which I had not), but repaired OK.

A few days later, I ran THE NEW and confirmed drive was OK.

I deleted library/preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist and then configure TM again via system preferences. He backed up in the right place but still retained all of the hourly backups.

I created a small TM backup on another partition of the external hard drive for 36 hours. He kept one then deleted backups older than 24 hours. Just as it takes.

I put back to elements of TM and original score, but even once he kept keep all backup schedules.

I started in safe mode, run TM without change.

I would like to than TM fix/delete all backups hours/then every day as it should be past or in the future.

All solutions other than 1. manually remove the redundant backups via 'Star Wars' or 2. leave full to have to buy another external hard drive.

I have a mini PPC running 10.5.8. The backup of my hard drive is about 58 GB, the partition on the HDD is 385 GB with 22 GB of spare right now.

  • Time Machine deleted messages on an external drive to the trash can on iMac are taking place on the hard drive?

I am struggling with a computer, try to empty the trash with 1million 300,000 Time machine backup files. It runs for two days now and won't install. At this rate, I'll need a week before my computer becomes viable. I don't feel able to go to the Terminal to do the trick. Also at this point, I'm afraid to stop the process again... Backups on an external drive of pigs 400 GB on my drive hard imac... I have so little room to work right now. I deleted some 200,000 files already yet the storage on my imac HD has not moved. The files in the Recycle Bin of the external drive really live on my hd now until they will be deleted if all goes well before Christmas?

I have a new computer to come next week so I'm wondering if I'll just reformat my entire hd in my imac to solve this problem... Any ideas?

You do all this in the Finder?

Time Machine has to delete the files from the user interface, normally "browsing Time Machine backup", navigate to the desired folder, and select the option "delete all backups of...» ». This is the approved way that should work.

If you are manually dragging the items in the trash of in a Time Machine backup, it can choke. Time Machine stores data with many levels of access control permissions & Finder seems to have difficulties to remove to empty the trash. In fact, I think that the TM drive has limits to prevent normal users to change data on this disk.

Personally, I think your safest option is to abandon the process, restart, erase and reformat the Time Machine drive. Who will lose all history backups but again in a clean condition seems to be better than trying to manually prune the Time Machine data. Time Machine removes old backups when it is full - so you shouldn't really need to intervene like this anyway.

Wait and see if anyone has a better idea.

P.S., each disk has its own "basket", so doing drag items should not fill your Mac startup disk. Maybe the operating system is out of memory, try to process all the files, exit other applications & see if that changes anything, you may have to wait just if you want to avoid to abandon the process.

    Hi Florian.

After posting your version of LabVIEW, I found an answer to your question:

The behavior you're seeing is a known bug that has been fixed in LabVIEW 8.5.1. Workaround is to use set local time instead.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
