Restoring backup using Recovery Manager

Recently, my HP laptop has crashed and cannot start windows Vista. I tried all the options in the Manager of recovery, but without success. So I prepare to perform a system recovery.

I did a backup file in Recovery Manager. Before I have to clean the system, I want to make sure that the correct files have been backed up.

My question is, can I run the "Backup.1.exe" backup file on another computer to view the files, or it will overwrite files currently on this computer?

Thank you!

Yes, you can run the 1st exe file that will extract all the files in a different folder on another computer.

  • Using Recovery Manager on a Netbook with a new hard drive

I have the HP Mini 110-3015DX netbook under Windows 7 Home Premium.  It has been upgraded to Windows 7 Starter Edition.  It comes preinstalled with a 160 GB hard drive.

Not too long ago, I cloned the original to a new hard drive to 500 GB hard drive and switched them.  The netbook boots fine, and all of my programs seem to work as well as before... except one: Recovery Manager.  Now, I can not format my hard drive and reinstall the operating system and drivers.

When I chose a recovery using Recovery Manager plan, the computer restarts as normal, but instead of see more menu options, I get a message on the new hardware detected, as well as a request to contact a network administrator or something like that.  However, I am unable to continue with the format and have to restart in Windows.

Question: is it possible to use Recovery Manager on a netbook when you change hard drives?  If so, how?

The Recovery Manager appears when I press the F11 key at startup to the top.

Indeed, since the display of my original message, I tried a USB flash drive recovery option.  Everything seemed to go very well, that the recovery process has been done, when suddenly a message popped up saying the installation was incomplete, is nearly 90%.  I was asked to choose two options, which none have been identified.  So I turned off the netbook, waited a bit and turned it back.  I was then able to complete the initial installation of Windows 7, where they ask you in the name of the computer, choose your region and type your network password... etc...

Once more, I thought that everything would be alright.  I then clicked on the icon of the computer and noticed that the size of my hard drive had been reduced from 500 GB to about 60 GB or more!  I tried to use a program 3rd party to recover the huge no allocated space, but it did not work.

I've been working on this problem for hours, doing research, try the different options, but nothing works.  I give up.  However, I appreciate your response.  Thank you.

  • Restore a full backup of disk created using HP Backup and Recovery Manager

I have a PC (dc7800) was complaining about the hard drive is about to fail so before you do the replaced disk, I ran a full disc backup in the hope that it would make restoreing the PC to its previous 'glorious' State reasonably easy. He created 3 DVD full of files. Now that the PC has been returned, I can't get the manager backup and restore see backup and restore their! What the feck I'm doing wrong? Does anyone have instructions on how to get this thing to work?

DVDs have a VHD file and a bunch of XML files. When I go to the recovery of the PC and select this option to restore to a point in time, I can navigate the OFN records DVD but no backup appears, I click Next and it just collapses the tree to the DVD player again! I'm doing my head here!

it... due fixed so that it is an OEM of Vista version with no support, I couldn't 'fix' under Advanced Startup option. I was able to get an ISO image of a boot to boot with Vista Recovery on that drive. From here, I was able to run a repair and restore a backup PC.

  • Using Recovery Manager on Hp Pavilion 23

I am trying to create a recovery image USB on a desktop computer all-in-one Pavilion 23 new (Win 8). RM acknowledges my Lexar 32 GB drive, but an error message appears that says "Creator of CD stopped working" I can't even find this software on the computer. What happens and does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you!

    Hello

OK, using the Microsoft 16 GB USB Recovery drive created the HDD1 and system image created from HDD1, I was able to restore the image of HDD1, HDD2 successfully. Wasn't expecting that! Microsoft (MS) has spent a lot of time, money and locking post versions of Windows XP in order to prevent piracy. This is not piracy, but it seems that MS has used sometimes exaggerated affecting legitimate backup and restore functions.

HDD1 and HDD2 are identical 2.0 GB Seagate drives. HDD2 was connected to the same SATA port then reimage the PC to which HDD1 was connected when the image was created.

The image created of HDD1 was stored on a WD Passport USB 3.0 drive 2 TB external USB. A USB 3.0 port was used to create the image of HDD1 and restore the image of HDD2.

Did not check reset or update the recovery options because these options are a non-starter if the image completed successfully system restore. I don't know that these options will be also successfully completed.

It is a great time saver.

So, all things being equal, having a system reliable image stored on an external drive and using a recovery disk USB Microsoft containing the OEM recovery partition, should translate into a restore successful a new HARD drive and well, of course, an original HDD (a manufacturer of different HARD drive and the size of the HARD drive may be an unknown variable?).  When the restoration is complete and you restart, you are where have been based on the date of the image. Minimal third-party software installation and minimal OS tweaks!

I am amazed. Had a lot of problems with Win 7 using Win 7 image recovery and using third-party imaging with Win 7 programs (Acronis, Paragon and others) because of UEFI and other issues. I gave up and threw in the towel.

Bottom line is, I guess you don't need HP recovery media. I think it is safe to have.

  • Programs and backup system HP Backup and recovery manager?

I had my laptop HARD drive change and restored the vista OS 64-bit using the recovery disc I had created 1 year ago.

    My questions are:
    (1) how to create a recovery point (with the system and programs I had installed) so that I can back restored with programs in case something happen?

    (2) will be 'create a set of recovery disks (recommended)' save the system and programs?

Thanks in advance. The reason I asked is that I don't want to reinstall all the programs again.

HP Recovery cannot save programs added to restore_only the settings and data for them. Again, you must reinstall the programs added after a recovery.

To do what you want, you need a program that makes an image of the full operating system and programs, sort of like having a custom Recovery.A good free app is Macrium reflect Disk Imaging. He will be the backup to CD/DVD or HDD USB external:

  • Restoring backup using Vista

I replaced my hard drive, reloaded Windows Vista and went to restore my backup I have on my external hard drive using the 'restore on another computer files"but I get a message that says that the files I am restoring have security clearance and that I need to create a user account with the same name. I did but it still doesn't work. I then tried to restore files without reassigning security clearance and I still have problems. Any ideas on how to get these files on my new hard drive. Thank you!

Using your computer connected to the external HARD disk, try to reset the permissions and/or ownership of the entire disk to your user account - give yuurself in its own right.  You may need to add your user name as administrator on the external HARD drive.  Here are the instructions on how to do things:

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.  To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

    ============================================================================================================

Here is an article on the restore procedure: http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-restore-files to make sure you do this right.  It's a selective restore of a full or selective backup (not a full restore from a full backup) - but since you did a full backup, it matches your process more closely than would a full restore.

This is a GREAT article on the backup and restore processes in Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.09.backup.aspx , but he won't go into detail about the restoration process - considering almost as easy, of course.  But it teaches you a lot about what is possible and how to do it.  But it focuses mainly on a full backup, it addresses both full and incremental backups.

Here is an article on the advanced use of restoration (during normal restore does not work): http://www.mayankraichura.com/post/2009/08/06/Avdvanced-Restore-via-Windows-Vista-Backup-and-Restore-Center.aspx.

I also found the following (but don't know if it of true or not):

    1. after the start of "backup and Restore Center."

    2. I chose "Advanced Restore"

    3. I was did not an administrator password... maybe because my account is an administrator account.

4 choose "files from a backup made on a different computer.

    5. in the dialog box indicating "Select the location of the backup to restore", select "hard drive, CD or DVD...". »

    6. under the drop-down list box, select your drive/partition and continue

    7. If all the backups on your drive, it will show a list of them.

    8. in my case, he showed a backup, but in the backup location, it will show "backup location is not available."

    9. I was frustrated, but then I somehow just select this backup (Yes... even if he said that the backup location is not available " ")

    10. and you press "next".

    11 guess what... no error!

    12. a window appeared asking me if I wanted to do a full restore, or I want to select specific folders or files.

    13. I selected the folders I wanted to restore and bingo... it their restored smoothly.

    14. so that the next time see a mistake, try to continue with him... ;)

I don't know if this will help, but it does not provide much information about the process (when it works).  I hope you find any error or discrepancy in your procedure and it will clear up and allow you to restore.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Backup and HP Recovery Manager for Windows 7

I installed all the software and drivers that came with the HP upgrade DVD. But, I found that the Backup and Recovery Manager missing on DVD. Is there a Backup and Recovery Manager for Win 7? I liked the manager backup and restore that was available on my Vista, when I bought this laptop, but is currently unavailable due to upgrade! All the solutions for this? I don't want to use the default Windows Backup that I don't have a separate HARD disk for the time to store the backup here and do not want to fill up my hard drive with data backup! Thank you.

Ok thank you. I have my recovery partition intact Vista. So I think, I should be able to recover if I have some kind of problem! I was able to find a backup and recover in Win 7 itself. Maybe I should wait for the software will be released by HP. Thank you once again!

  • Manager backup and recovery in Windows 8

I tried to create recovery disks in the Backup and Recovery Manager.  The software would only make the first disk and then hang up.  All the other empty disks inserted appear as complete. I'm trying to burn DVD + R discs.  The backup application was updated to the latest version.

Contacted Dell technical support.  Initially, the representative did not know what Backup and Recovery Manager is or did until I showed it to him on a remote connection.  He claims that it is a Microsoft problem, even if it is the Dell software.  Representative said that since Microsoft has no burning software disk in Windows 8, the Recovery Manager will be properly burn discs. (I could do the backup on a USB key).

Microsoft contacted; they began to laugh because he comes to Dell software, but helped me to look at it any way.  After 2 hours of watching the software does not work, the rep told me to call Dell again.  He said that I need to download and reinstall the software.

Of course, software release not correctly the player after that burned the first disc and shows then all the following discs as being full.  When the second disc is inserted, it is read as not having not any space and then is ejected.

I could not complete the backup process by using a recorder external panasonic. So it seems there is nothing wrong with the software and may be a hardware problem.

  • Where can I get a copy of the backup and for windows xp hp Recovery Manager

    Compaq Presario SR2010NX

    Windows XP

I had to reinstall Windows on another drive of Windows for the C: drive so that I can make a recovery of the D: partition. However, now I have more have "HP Backup and Recovery Manager" to run Windows and cannot make a recovery with F10 at startup.

What I need to solve the problem in my view is another copy of the "HP Backup and Recover Manager". Where can I download this from where to buy it? I found a copy for Windows 7 and copies for laptops, but nothing that I need. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello:

As you discovered, is not available for download or purchase, etc.

Why you can get it online for laptops, for hints. I looked too.

I guess you have tried one of the downloads for laptop to XP, and it did not work?

    I know I should.

The only way, in my view, that it is possible for you to get the program, is to buy a set of recovery discs and use them to reinstall XP. They should reinstall XP and all programs from your PC and recreate your recovery partition.

You can see if HP has them by reading the info on the link below (I doubt they make, but you may as well ask).

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/bph07143

If HP does not, you can still get this provider on the link below.

  • Windows Vista does not start after you use the Hp Recovery Manager. What should I do?

I used Recovery Manager to reinstall Windows Vista Basic 32-bit. During installation, it shows 0% completion although at the end it says everything is ok. After clicking on the button finish, he starts up the Recovery Manager again asking if I want to recover Windows. If I choose the Cancel button it restarts with the same Recovery Manager screen. What can I do?

You can call HP technical support at 1-800-474-6836. Or you can give your product number, not the serial number, and I'll try to send you the link to order yourself.

  • E5-772 Acer Recovery Management not opening point 8.1 Windows

    Hello

I tried to get rid of a hijacker rather bad for several weeks and after many attempts, try to remove such malware, support removal programs. I decided to reset my computer by default. When I tried to use recovery management, as long as I got last weekend was the UAC warning and then nothing. I tried rebooting and using Alt + F10, I got a black screen and it remained so until I released the key. So, as a replacement for the packaging of this thing, sending Texas to repair warranty and then be without it for about 3-4 weeks, is there something that I can fix this? I already checked disk management and the recovery partition is still there.
