Recently, my PC started a little all around to have massive problems that I don't mind going into details, but I decided that after 2-3 years to possess, I would restore it factory default. Hello

If the original HP recovery partition is intact then you should be able to create the recovery media.

Before attempting to improve once again, use a hard drive of commerical known reliable product imaging in the image of your hard drive to external media.  This will save you a lot of time and effort, if you never experience questions requiring to return to a fresh factory restore and then have to go through the whole update process again. The image will also save you if your hard drive fails.  If the HP recovery media is the plain W8 then take the shot.  Then after all the updates are applied and your with set success to date to W8.1 and then take another picture.

Thanks for posting on the forum.

  • Bacup/restore to factory default

    Hi all

My HP laptop has arrived an hour ago and it looks amazing much thinner I was ecpecting for a laptop 17.3. I ordered Windows Pro 8.1 from my suppliers who will be here tomorrow. Although I need to back up the partition by default factory because I install my own OS instead.

I think the best thing to do would be. Pass through the initial installation of the pre-installation and then back up the partition which by the way should not be more 16 GB maximum for a clean install. This back up to an inch or the USB and install Windows Pro 8.1. I think I'll come against is only pre-installed software that comes with the notebook. As I have not yet looked, one would imagine that HP has a list of drivers and software available on the Web site of your support for my product. Hesitate but this third preinstalled software would not attend because of doftware comes with this laptop.

HP has backup software so at least I can save the settings to factory default to a thumb bootable or pendrive so I need to restore the laptop at all times.

    Footnote:

I just had a thought, once Windows 8.1 Pro x 64 was installed. And before you ask, but e thanks all the same, I created a PID file and ready to install Windows Pro 8.1 from a USB 3.0 to alrwady cfg. Once installed all I really need to do is install HP Support Assistant and download all the drivers who also records all drivers which is not pain but a lot of time.

    Thanks in advance
    Mel

    Hi Sybinx,

Yes, use HP Recovery Manager (before the upgrade to 8.1 Win) to create a set of complete recovery (3 or 4 DVDs) discs or a 32 GB flash drive recovery. You will then be able to restore your system out of the box experience.

You can also create a recovery flash disk by using the recovery located in Control Panel after the installation of Win Pro 8.1, (A 16 GB flash drive is required). An excellent tool for the call of advanced restore options when Win 8.1 will not start.

In addition, please refer to this article which explains how to create a custom image refresh once you have your fully configured system. The instructions apply as well to Win 8.1.

For more, but not all the software installed at the factory, you can find by browsing until C:\SWSETUP. Copy this folder to a disk external for use, if necessary, after installing Win 8.1 Pro.

    Have fun.

You will need to do several reactivations.

-Make the Express Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade (reactivate by phone)

-Redo the Express Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade, then turn it back on again.

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • Cannot restore the factory settings on Pavilion dm3

After the use of the laptop for about two years now and accumulated quite a waste, I tried to do a restore to factory setting.  When I bought it, I also bought two recovery system DVD - never used or tried before.

Fact by following the instructions; Insert the first disc (later tried both without success) in the external optical drive, which recognized the drive but do nothing outside to show me the content.  It there is no setup.exe and the disc is no not no matter what autorun.

The computer works fine, just a bit slow, especially when you turn it on, so I don't want to plant it, but I don't want to clean it up.

    Would appreciate any advice,

    Thank you

    Hello:

You do not have the Windows Recovery discs.

You must boot from the first floppy and follow the instructions on the screen.

The best way to do that is to insert disk 1 into the DVD drive, reboot the laptop.

At the beginning of the HP welcome screen, press the F9 key to start the start time menu.

Select the DVD drive, and then press the Enter key.

The PC should then attempt to boot from the DVD.  A message may appear on the screen that says basically «try to boot from DVD...» Press any key to boot from the DVD... »

Press a button and the PC should then read the DVD, and you can follow the instructions on the screen.

After the PC is done with disc 1, it will be ejected and invites you to remove disk 1 and insert disk 2.

Based on the key F9 does not launch the only time where Start menu, and then press the ESC key and then select the options menu start.

THANKS A MILLION!  Worked perfectly and absolutely right.  I didn't know the F9 option.

  • Is it possible to "restore to factory default settings" on Windows Media Player 12 for Windows 7?

Hello, I am a very good techno. I had some weird software to settle with steam and now my Media Player will not preview videos I take of the gameplay. Is there a way to just click a button to restore all settings to factory of windows media player 12? I will not use quicktime unless I absolutely have to, but I know it will work.

    Thank you

    ILLb4Ever

Click the Start button and click Control Panel.

Click on programs and features or uninstall a program.

On the top left click on Turn off, or the windows features

Uncheck the box of media with the boot when you are prompted,

Restart and again, check the box of the media and the boot again.

Open wmp. You should be prompted to choose wmp as your default program, file types RPF, he can open.

    You can also,

Click the Start button, and then click default programs,

Click on all your programs by default on top,

Click on Windows media player on the left column and click Make default.

  • After restoring to factory default of Vista, I lost my access to the Microsoft Office products

I recently had a severely damaged Vista OS, which after several attempts to recover and restore several restore points failed, I had to restore the default value of the plant from the D drive. The restoration was a success and my system now works fine. However my Office 2007, which is a trial version, although I'd bought Word, Excel and Outlook, when I bought this laptop, constantly asks me a product code. I ran the activation assistant, but it was impossible to get a code. Office 2007 has now been replaced by 2010.

How to reactivate my purchased products?

My computer laptop product number is GP238AV.

My serial number is [text removed for privacy]

I bought in 2008 and it is now out of warranty.

Well, I guess that this forum is not the fastest way to get an answer. I called technical support, even if I am out of warranty and they concluded, after looking in my problem, I need key product comes with my cell phone and they don't know what it is, or they can help me. They suggested I call Microsoft to see if they could help. HA! Have you ever tried to figure out how to get in touch with these guys? Fat chance that they would help in any case. But I did do some research autour, found the papers provided with my laptop, and of course, there was no product key with it. Then, I searched my CD Library and found MS Office product disc, which contains the product key. I have the Enter key and reactivated my products, so all is well.

Even if support could not help, they got at least looking at me through my files to find the key, and I did.

So thanks for HP support. Problem solved.

  • HP ljMFPM277dw: restore to factory default to reset the admin password

    Hello

I just bought the HP ljMFPM277dw and was able to connect to the network, however, I noticed after typing my IP address on the summary page of network that he was not connected properly with WPA2, so I tried to make changes to.  Our router Verizon Actiontec with a dummy button, so I couldn't connect safely like this, and I have been unable to determine how to enter a PIN code provided by the printer in the router.  On the Web IP of the printer page, I create an administrator password, but apparently do not write it down correctly.   So with the changes that I made there, is no longer a printer/network connection and I'm unable to enter the password and can not enter the IP to access the printer on the web info.  WiFi Direct printers is enabled, but the network WiFi and HPeprint is off, and every password I tried is not valid.  I tried restoring default and the wireless network, solve problems in the manual, but each needed the password suggestion.  Now I understand how critical it is that I get no change on the printer IP address web page.  My office is a Mac OS 10.10 and my PC laptop uses Windows 8.1.  Any help would be so appreciated!

  • Restore to factory settings option does not appear when the one key recovery button?

When I press on my one key recovery button the window that apears only shows the backup of the option and the option to create recovery disk. Why? How can I restore my computer without factory? How can I restore to a previous state?

What you are experiencing is the OneKey Recovery program in Windows. This allows you to create a new backup and burn recovery CD/DVDs. To run the OneKey Recovery and restore of factory default, you must shut down the computer, then press the OneKey. This recovery feature has recovery option.

I have an Air of iPad and iPhone 5 s.  I did the two-step verification and wrote the secret code 4 digit.  I couldn't get into my iPad.  Talked to about 4 Apple technicians.  They guided me to restore my iPad to factory default.  My photos and notes and videos have disappeared.  They are still on my phone.  I never went to iCloud to see hat is here.  My iPad has said there is nothing in the iCloud shouldn't the same thing that is on my phone.  I went to Verizon and they said it was a problem for apple.  Help!

You need start the game up more so that we can see if you have a backup, you can restore from. Go to settings > general > reset > erase all content and settings so that you get the Hello screen. Then, you configure the iPad, sign your iCloud account and when asked if you want to restore from a backup to say Yes and see what is listed to choose from for restoration.

After the back if you don't see any options for restoring your backup.

Can someone please help urgently? I have all my files on a USB key and really need to give a presentation on my laptop by Thursday September 23. Can someone please? I read about a secret partion on laptops to default factory default

    concerning Ross

    Hi elrossco22,

What Satellite L300D, you have exactly and are - this a European model?
If yes try to access the Windows Advanced Boot menu and choose fix my computer. Then, you can start the recovery of HARD drive feature.

If this isn't the case, you need a new Toshiba Recovery disk to restore to factory settings. You can order such a drive here but it s for European models only:
