After restoring to factory default of Vista, I lost my access to the Microsoft Office products

I recently had a severely damaged Vista OS, which after several attempts to recover and restore several restore points failed, I had to restore the default value of the plant from the D drive. The restoration was a success and my system now works fine. However my Office 2007, which is a trial version, although I'd bought Word, Excel and Outlook, when I bought this laptop, constantly asks me a product code. I ran the activation assistant, but it was impossible to get a code. Office 2007 has now been replaced by 2010.

How to reactivate my purchased products?

My computer laptop product number is GP238AV.

My serial number is [text removed for privacy]

I bought in 2008 and it is now out of warranty.

Well, I guess that this forum is not the fastest way to get an answer. I called technical support, even if I am out of warranty and they concluded, after looking in my problem, I need key product comes with my cell phone and they don't know what it is, or they can help me. They suggested I call Microsoft to see if they could help. HA! Have you ever tried to figure out how to get in touch with these guys? Fat chance that they would help in any case. But I did do some research autour, found the papers provided with my laptop, and of course, there was no product key with it. Then, I searched my CD Library and found MS Office product disc, which contains the product key. I have the Enter key and reactivated my products, so all is well.

Even if support could not help, they got at least looking at me through my files to find the key, and I did.

So thanks for HP support. Problem solved.

    Hello

If the original HP recovery partition is intact then you should be able to create the recovery media.

Before attempting to improve once again, use a hard drive of commerical known reliable product imaging in the image of your hard drive to external media.  This will save you a lot of time and effort, if you never experience questions requiring to return to a fresh factory restore and then have to go through the whole update process again. The image will also save you if your hard drive fails.  If the HP recovery media is the plain W8 then take the shot.  Then after all the updates are applied and your with set success to date to W8.1 and then take another picture.

Restoring to factory settings formats the disc, and which erases
everything what he. You probably get something new, but you can
try to do a search on the web for a recovery program that unformats the reader
    like here: http://www.easeus.com/resource/unformat.htm

If you unformat the drive successfully and can recover lost files
back, the first thing you should do copy on an external
(CD, DVD, USB sticks, external hard drives, etc.).
    Two other points/questions:

    1. why restore you to the factory settings? This is usually the worst
approach to solve a problem, there's a lot of extra long hard
work and often leads to problems of its own (as it did here).

    2. I assume you have no backup on external media from your
photos of important files etc. In this case. you played with
the fire. You can read this article on the backup that I wrote:

  • Bacup/restore to factory default

    Hi all

My HP laptop has arrived an hour ago and it looks amazing much thinner I was ecpecting for a laptop 17.3. I ordered Windows Pro 8.1 from my suppliers who will be here tomorrow. Although I need to back up the partition by default factory because I install my own OS instead.

I think the best thing to do would be. Pass through the initial installation of the pre-installation and then back up the partition which by the way should not be more 16 GB maximum for a clean install. This back up to an inch or the USB and install Windows Pro 8.1. I think I'll come against is only pre-installed software that comes with the notebook. As I have not yet looked, one would imagine that HP has a list of drivers and software available on the Web site of your support for my product. Hesitate but this third preinstalled software would not attend because of doftware comes with this laptop.

HP has backup software so at least I can save the settings to factory default to a thumb bootable or pendrive so I need to restore the laptop at all times.

    Footnote:

I just had a thought, once Windows 8.1 Pro x 64 was installed. And before you ask, but e thanks all the same, I created a PID file and ready to install Windows Pro 8.1 from a USB 3.0 to alrwady cfg. Once installed all I really need to do is install HP Support Assistant and download all the drivers who also records all drivers which is not pain but a lot of time.

    Thanks in advance
    Mel

    Hi Sybinx,

Yes, use HP Recovery Manager (before the upgrade to 8.1 Win) to create a set of complete recovery (3 or 4 DVDs) discs or a 32 GB flash drive recovery. You will then be able to restore your system out of the box experience.

You can also create a recovery flash disk by using the recovery located in Control Panel after the installation of Win Pro 8.1, (A 16 GB flash drive is required). An excellent tool for the call of advanced restore options when Win 8.1 will not start.

In addition, please refer to this article which explains how to create a custom image refresh once you have your fully configured system. The instructions apply as well to Win 8.1.

For more, but not all the software installed at the factory, you can find by browsing until C:\SWSETUP. Copy this folder to a disk external for use, if necessary, after installing Win 8.1 Pro.

    Have fun.

Apparently, that's what to do, another great problem, I can't get my internet to work at all, it says there is no network, I can't spend all the discovery network on or anything, and I have NO idea where the original disc is provided with the computer :( Hating technology now

You have a computer that works (obviously).  You probably have a USB stick/thumb drive/CD or DVD, you can use and a way to write, huh?  Something like that?

Get what you need to the manufacturer of the computer support and the web page of the driver of your make & model of computer (that you try to fix) while on this computer to work and put these files on the mentioned media.  That put media into the computer you try to set and use the programs installation either him or copy them to the desktop of the computer in question and install from there.

  • After restoring to factory setting... ntoskrnl.exe is missing or damaged

I have a problem with my Asus R500VD laptop.

My phone was at a standstill after I opened a few applications and after waiting for a while, I decided to shut it down by holding the power button for a few seconds. After that, I got a BSOD error 0xc0000221 saying ntoskrnl.exe is missing or damaged. I tried to go back to a previous system restore point, tried chkdsk /r (no error based), tried bootrec with all options (it shows 0 found windows installations), tried a full restore to factory (using the on my laptop's recovery partition), but nothing has worked. I always get the error above.

When I restart, it tries to automatically repair the system (that works, it cannot solve problems automatically) and at some point it changes recent cancellations (complete the recovery I think). I tried the different boot options, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? It doesn't seem to be any corruption in the filesystem (chkdsk), ntoskrnl.exe is not missing...

Thanks for your help! Greaty I appreciate it! Tips are welcome!

    Hi Blueelvis,

No, unfortunately I don't have a spare HARD drive. But... I sent it back to the shop where I bought it. Should still be under warranty. I have included all our correspondence to give them an overview of what has been tried. Thanks for your help! I hope that I get a replacement or they're going to fix it. I also ran memtest86 + using The Ultimate Boot Disk and he found loads of errors--not sure whether memory is as bad or if it has something to do with the 8 GB with 64-bit processor.

  • blue screen on envy 14 beats edition after restoring to factory settings

    Hello

My HP Envy beats edition is 2 years old and recently had a problem starting and we have restored to factory settings since it was the only option they don't have no recovery points on the system.  It freezes for a split second, and then a blue screen at random intervals. When this happens, he mentions something about a process of dumping of physical memory, and then restart windows.

I am able to go into windows and use normal programs, but suddenly the blue screen appears and it stops again. Especially when I use the mouse.  I don't know what the problem is. Help, please.

Thanks for the reply! Now that I have this information, I would like you to try the procedure described in this document to Microsoft for the resolution in Windows 7 stop errors (blue screen)

Please try all the steps, including the reinstallation of the operating system if you unable to solve the problem. If nothing works, the computer must be repaired since there is most likely a hardware problem. You can call the HP support to get it addressed.

You can use this Web site for information about how to contact HP properly, based on your region: Contact HP worldwide

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks again and have a great day!

  • Create product recovery media does not work after restoring to factory settings

Updated my T500 from 160 to 320 GB.

First of all, ran the RnR restore to factory settings with the product recovery media that I made earlier. And then restored my C: volume from my Windows Home Server backup.

Everything seems as usual except my service partition is now f: instead of S: and my Lenovo partition is H: instead of q:-I tested it I can get into the RnR with F11 service partition.

But when I try to create new recovery media product the ICT box is grayed out on the first prompt so I can't continue. Put back the partition of Lenovo on q: in disk management has not changed anything, he would let me change the letter of the service partition.

It's no big deal - I still have my original disks - but it would be good to know what I could improve for the next time I have to do a restore.

Think that I thought about it - when I restored my C volume I also restored a version of RnR who 'knows' I already burned disks. So next time if I want to burn new disks, I need to do on the version of the system factory setting before you restore the volume C:.

  • How fix my computer from vista family premium, after a service pack 1 upgrade vista has been loaded remotely by the norton online assistant: lyuv_32.dll is displayed

I am a resident in the United Kingdom:

My initial problem is that as of March 12, I couldn't load my purchased copy of norton antivirus 12 - it said system was incompatible, it's a version of vista Home premium 6 (without service charge pack) - I thought that it would be compatible, as my old anti virus 2011 Norton worked well.

I loaded the bases of security from microsoft instead, and it seemed to work ok until a few days ago, when the program seemed to be scratched from the computer-not sure why. I could not reload either.

I got a very detailed answer to my question on how to try to solve this problem in the same microsoft help site - but I thought that it may be better let norton can help me to install the purchased copy.

When phoning norton helpline assistant said they needed to load remote service pack 1 for me, as an upgrade was required; but there seems to be a problem with the computer stops after download. I called again after 2 hours of waiting in vain to make the computer stop, and norton helpline worker said to restart manually, who led the unsuccessful installation of the upgrade; up to step 2 of 3 (only 2% charged to the top of step 2)

The computer turned off and started to load, but stopped when a message! oxco190036! 2369/90645(IYUV.32.dll) appeared in the top of the screen.

Norton hotline seem to have left me to deal with a huge problem and makes 100% worse than before - because after having tried various things in pressing f8 with their orientation; as files to an earlier time (called non-registered time to restore) they could not help me further and was told to contact microsoft myself - number norton gave me was outdated and the helpline was not accessible anyway, as I call me after 18:00 on Friday!

That's why I used my computer laptop girls to send in this issue of the problem, that I hope can be solved, because I'm not much re load windows from scratch if possible. I'm not a very confident in doing this, because I can only do basic computer tasks.

I can't access a secondary SATA disk on my Vista 64 installation.  Here's the context: I have two SATA HD in my office.  I use one for the OS and the second as storage device.  Now that I'm done with a format and reinstall, I have Vista 64 back up and running and fully implemented to date.  Now that it is operational, I noticed that I can not access the 2nd HD (the storage disk).  The computer knows that it is attached and it can read technical information.  The BIOS sees the drive, device manager sees the drive, Disk Manager sees the drive, and I have a program 3rd party (Everest) that I use to monitor its use and the time he sees too much.  I can see the size of the disk, manufacturer, etc. but I can not access the information on the disk.

What can I do to remedy this situation?  He worked before (pre format) without problem, why it is not working now?  No physical connection have changed, so I don't see why it would be unavailable.

Please help me because I am trying to download windows vista ultimate 64 bit OS from Microsoft, but I'm not succeed
Please help me to download this windows.

    Hello

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

And Microsoft sells more Vista; If that's what you're looking for.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.
