Retirement from my old computer

Just replaced my old computer with XP Pro with a new machine and Windows 7.  I want to give my old system, and need to wipe it clean with my information and programs.  I have XP disc that comes with it.  Should I format the C drive and re - install XP of these disks and then connect to the internet for all available updates?  Thank you

Yes.  :)

I got the hard drive from my old computer and am trying to transfer my old files to it, but I'm not sure where to find the old bookmarks files. It would be wonderful if you could also help to recover the history - I was in the habit of keeping a large number of tabs open and simply restore everytime I restarted my computer, so a lot of data was lost when my computer crashed.

    Hello

If the backup files are intact, then you would be able to copy the files required in the backup after installing Firefox and it works at least once in the new PC.

    Backup

    Firefox profile folder

You must copy and overwrite the files needed from the old profile folder in the same folder structure in the new profile. Some important files might be places.sqlite who holds the bookmarks and history, the cert8.db that stores personal and other certificates, signons3.txt + signons.sqlite that stores websites registered names to user/passwords etc. To open the profile folder, in Firefox, help (Alt + H) > troubleshooting information > Open the containing folder and the release of Firefox.

Recently bought a new PC.  Managed to transfer my music library to the new PC from the old PC.  However... the playlists are not present in iTunes on the new PC.  They are still present on my iPod Nano and iTunes on the old PC.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

See Re: How can I move iTunes from my old computer to my new computer? or recover your iTunes from your iPod or an iOS device. I recommend you move the original library correctly. There is a script of recovery playlist listed towards the end of the second link.

new computer how to do everything from my old computer to my new computer

You can transfer files and settings with Windows XP files and the transfer settings Wizard, but you can not transfer the programs installed using any method whatsoever - you will need to reinstall these programs.  If your new computer is not Windows XP but Windows 7 then use the program Windows Easy Transfer, included in Windows 7 rather than the files and Settings Transfer Wizard.

  • Not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer to move files from my old computer to new computer (Windows XP to Windows 7).

Original title: Easy Transfer password XP to Windows 7.

I try to use Easy Transfer to move files from my old computer to new computer (XP to Windows 7). I didn't have a password on my old computer, but cannot transfer to the new without one. I tried every password I never used (caps on and outside), as well as the code given at the beginning of the Easy Transfer, but nothing works. What can I do? (I use an external hard drive)

    Hello

If I'm wrong, please let us know why, but my assumptions that are

    • Your old XP machine is usable
    • It still allows to log
    • There is no password required when you don't sign

    So you can try this...

    1. Click Start
    2. Click on Control Panel
    3. Click on user accounts
    4. Give your XP logon password
    5. Restart your XP machine
    6. Try Easy Transfer and him give the password that you set in step 4

  • transfer files from your old computer with video card damaged to new computer

my old computers video card is damaged can not read anything on the monitor. I want to transfer files to my laptop. Old computer has windows xp new computer has windows vista. I can do this with just an easy transfer cable?

    Hello

Put the hard drive from the old computer in the new computer as a 2nd drive. Or turn the player
in an external USB enclosure. Or the other must allow you to access the files.

    I hope this helps.

  • I need to plug my monitor up to my new computer before transferring files from the old computer

yet to try to find out if I need to have my monitor connected to my new computer before I use the easy transfer cable to transfer my files from my old computer to the new

Yes, you will need a monitor connected to your computer to use an easy transfer cable. I suggest to use two monitors, one on the old computer and the other on the new.

  • Download from cd: How can I download files to my documents that came from my old computer w/xp?

Your question is very difficult to understand. First of all, you can not download
from a CD. The word 'download' means to copy a file (perhaps a program)
file, but not necessarily) from a server somewhere on the internet at
your own computer. Please do not reverse this word by "install,"
which means to load a program on your disk hard drive in a form where
    It can be run

Generally, you install a program from a CD, a floppy disk or
on the internet. Only in the latter case, the internet, is there any
Download in question, but then again, it's a two-step process: first
Download you it, and then you install it.

Second, I don't know what you mean when you say ' files for my.
documents '. Please specify what that means.

And what CD you insert? Where do you have? Why are you
Threading? What do you expect on that?
