RMA bad HP Seagate drive

Went out with a bad drive hard Seagate one of my HP desktop computers. Still in the warranty period 3 years Seagate. Since arriving on the hard drive purchased from multiple computers HP desktop. Try to get a RMA of the HP number to replace the bad drive. I am told that if I have the serial number of the desktop computer HP where the wrong disc was taken at HP cannot replace my hard drive.  Well, to make a long story short, I don't have time to watch every computer desktop HP to see where come from this bad hard drive. Anyone know a way around this with HP? A customer representative told me that I had no number for HP PC, am I out of luck.

Hello RonaldBoy, any hard drive that was shipped in an OEM system is only guaranteed OEM System.

If a hard drive Seagate was transported in a HP system with a one year warranty, then the hard drive Seagate would have a one year warranty.

Only retail hard drives have a three or five-year warranty.

It seems that the person supported HP you advised correctly.

  • Seagate drive back up the partition problem

    Hello

I have a problem with a Seagate drive on my mac.

The drive is 1 TB and I formatted into 2 partitions: 1 exFat and 1 for Time Machine. All worked fine for the last 2 years, but now when plug the drive into my mac it loads only the partition exFat (I can access the content of it.).

Backup partition isn't appearing any more. I tried to open disk utility, but it won't let me see my discs, while the Seagate is connected. (I thought about it when I unplugged the Seagate drive, everything is back to normal).

If I want to eject the disc it will freeze it and drive the LEDS will not stop fashing until I take out the usb cable.

Experienced this kind of problem?  I would be very grateful if you could help me.

When you request support, please provide the number of name and/or product of comprehensive model of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models which are all different. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

If Windows is not loaded, you can enter the BIOS and hard drive model number in the list. You can also open your computer and look at the hard drive itself.

Have you tried "F8" to enter in Windows 'Safe Mode' during the starting of the computer? Have you tried to use your disk to repair Windows to solve the problem?

  • Technician "Microsoft Windows" reports my badly infected hard drive.

Just hung on a technician (Asian accent) "Microsoft Windows" calling because my IP address had been identified as having a badly infected hard drive. When I asked a # to call back because I was too busy at that time, he insisted he would take only 5-10 minutes (asked me to sit at the computer and use my mouse to click on the start icon on the desktop) - I said I only still 5 minutes and could call him back but he wouldn't give me a number. End call.

My seagate external hard drive keeps ejecting properly after installation of OS El Capitan, it locks also towards the top and turns off, the ext drive when using, I have to restart my IMac 27 inches.  I have two ext hd who does very well for years before the installation of the operating system El Capitan

If you have installed the Seagate Software, please delete and see if there is no change.

Any third party software that is not installed on the App Store or by drag-and - drop in the Applications folder and uninstall by drag - move to the trash, is a modification of the system.

Whenever you delete changes to the system, they must be eliminated completely, and the only way to do this is to use the uninstall tool, if any, provided by the developers, or follow their instructions. If the software has been removed incompletely, you may redownload or reinstall even to finish the job.

I never install modifications of the system myself, and except as stated in this comment, I do not know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find this information.

Here are some general guidelines to help you get started. Suppose you want to remove the so-called "BrickMyMac" (a hypothetical example). First of all, menu using the product, check if there is one, for instructions. Not finding here, look at the Web site, let's say www.brickmymac.com. (Maybe it's not the name real site, if necessary, search the Web for the name of the product). If you don't find anything on the Web site or in your search, contact the developer. While you are waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be a request here as "Uninstall BrickMyMac." If this is not the case, open "BrickMyMac.pkg" and look for an uninstall button. The uninstall program can also accessible by clicking on the button customize, when one exists.

Back up all data before making any changes.

Generally, you will need to restart the computer in order to perform an uninstall. Until you do this, there may be no effect, or the unpredictable effects.

If you can't remove the software in any other way, you will have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third party software, unless you're sure you know how to uninstall in the contrary case, it can create problems which are very difficult to solve.

Try to remove the complex system of changes by hunting for files by name, often will not work and can make the problem worse. The same goes for 'utilities' as the 'AppCleaner"designed to remove software.

It appears from the description of the problem, you want to update the driver for video card for HP Compaq Presario sr1000 desktop computer.

You can download and install the latest drivers for the computer in the computer manufacturer site for free.

You can download the drivers from the following link.

  • Seagate drive in the BIOS but can't see it in the file manager

Earlier this week, I installed a Solid State Drive as my boot drive. It works very well. I want to use 2 TB Seagate that came with my Inspiron 3847 as backup devices (slave) and I also want to take 10 Windows out of it. I can see the drive in device (drive 1) Manager and in the BIOS (SATA 2), but I can't see it in the file manager so I can reformat the drive. This particular model (ST2000DM001-1ER64) has no jumpers to set it as a slave drive. Seagate said it is automatic. I am stuck as to how I solve this problem. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi ssd user,.

    Happy new year!

There is no such thing as master or slave with SATA drives. Try to go to disk management, search your drive and check if a drive letter has been attributed to it. I suspect that you must select a drive letter, then it should appear in the file Explorer.

  • New seagate drive hard 6To and powervault md3600i

    Hello

We have a powervault md3600i and we plan to buy new hard disks to increase its capacity

We recently encountered this model: http://www.seagate.com/fr/fr/internal-hard-drives/enterprise-hard-drives/hdd/enterprise-capacity-3-5-hdd/#specs

It is a Seagate 6To sas hard drive

We wondered if current firmware could support these disks. and if not, is it planned in a future firmware version?

    Thanks for your replies

    Hello jtetillon,

The latest current firmware for the MD3600i will not be able to take over the disks. These drives also have a 12 GB SAS connection & the MD3600i has only 6GB connections for readers. Now our latest MD38xx of MD34xx & maintain the 12 GB but currently these drives are not supported on the latest firmware as well.

I would say that if these drives should be supported, it would be on or systems MD34xx & MD38xx, but I don't know in which version of firmware that will be available on.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Dim 4600 adding ST3120215ACE PATA Seagate drives

I have installed two of these drives in the Dimension 4600.  Installed Win XP and all the correct drivers.  I used the wizard disk Seagate to install and format the secondary drive and everything seems to work very well.  The o/s sees the drives and no problems... except...  I get this error message at startup:

Reference series Dell system dimension 4600i
    BIOS Version A12
    www.Dell.com

    Secondary drive 1 not found
Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run the Setup utility

I strike F1 and everything is good.  How can I get rid of this 'error '.

The BIOS for the Primary Master and slave drive setting tough.  Both have the correct id of training, ability and are set to Auto.

Even used disk management to reassign the drive letter for the CD drive and drive slave without problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

First, there is nothing wrong with your computer.  The error you see is probably because you don't have two CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, but the system configuration (F2 during the self-test after starting the computer) is scheduled to have the second player on.  If you have two drives of CD, the slave drive may have failed.

To correct the problem, replace the recoil CMOS cell if you have not done this for a while.  It's a CR 2032 located on the motherboard.  When this is done, go to system settings and disable the second drive on your second IDE channel.  When replacing the cell in relief, the default BIOS will be responsible, so you should probably disable the floppy so drive.  If you forget to do this, you will get an error to seek and need to find F1 to continue as you do now.

  • Bad hard disk/drive

I ran a refreshment on computer, and when it restarted I got not to install updates in order to upgrade to Win 8.1. Then, I received a message saying that Windows 'detects a hard drive problem. He also said that the hard drive has failed and to immediately back up my files and repair disc. I had previously saved all my files, so there is nothing on the computer at the time that I need. ? Its kind

difficult to do anything anyone sometimes because Windows is so

unresponsive, so I was reset the computer back to factory settings in order to get online. I ran a reset yesterday and tomorrow

It will be very slow and Windows will not respond. So my question is, have saved all that needs to be saved, how can I solve the problem with the defective drive?

Where should I go from here? And what could bring it in the first place? I am always so careful. Any input would be really appreciated. So thank you and have a nice day.  (My computer is a Toshiba Satellite C855)

Unfortunately, no. You have bad sectors, and a bad sector is essentially a set of data on the disk HARD cannot be read because it is 'damaged '. CHKDSK attempts to move forward and take the data of these bad sectors and move them into blocks of work, but sometimes it is not possible due to the huge amount of bad sectors.

Bad sectors are a normal part of having a mechanical drive, and they are inevitable and occur over time how attentive that you are. Bad sectors can be caused by malware to something as simple as an incorrect/unexpected shutdown during a reading/writing data, etc..

Also, once you start getting bad sectors, it only gets worse and fast. It's not worth risking it remaining on the disc. It's smart to save the data that you want to keep (if any) and replace the disk.

    Kind regards

    Patrick

Hi, I have 8510w with XP and Ubuntu partitions. Have not had any trouble with HARD drive, until yesterday when I tried to make an image of my XP partition. PartImage and Clonezilla time frozen either upwards / entered a loop with a message "cannot read block 'large number' 'large number' image.

Apparently, there are bad sectors on my drive. Does take to repair under warranty with this "problem"?

  • Install a second hard drive in XPS8500 with SSD and a 2 TB Seagate drive

    Hello world

I try to install a second (tested on another PC) fully functional disk on my Dell XPS8500 / SSD / 2 TB disk / Windows 8.

The drive is detected in the bios (RAID/AHCI), but not in windows (no letters).

However in the disk management tool I see my initial as 2 TB disk 'drive 0 / online"so everything is ok, but the second disc is marked 'disk 1/unknown/not initialized/no allocated' and a windows asking me to initialize the disc with 2 options:

    1 - boot sector

    2 TPG

I don't want to start over, so I chose Option 2: GPT, then OK button and I have a message "CRC error".

In the events of the system: 4 errors:

a 10 id / VDS: cannot write boot code when the player is the clean-up operation error Code: 80070017@02070008

and three id 7: \Device\Harddisk1\DR1 have blocking of defects.

I must precise that this second disc, again fully functional, has been used on my old RAID 0 system.

If anyone has an idea, thank you for any response.

I've solved my problem: see my post http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/disk-drives/f/3534/t/19594151.aspx

You receive a message from the first of 13 elements by saying that there is no disc in drive E?

If this is the case, it is a known problem with a solution from Adobe. The solution passes through the removal or disabling of the OldFilm.AEX file.

    Local disk C

    Program Files

    Adobe

    Adobe Premiere Elements 13

    Plug-ins

    Commune

    NewBlue

and in NewBlue folder is the file OldFilm.AEX that you remove or disable by renaming it to OldFilm.AEXOLD.

Please let us know if this is your question, and if the solution worked for you. If this isn't the case, please give more details.
