RMAN-06100: no channel to restore a backup...

Can someone please?
=================
I am running Oracle 10.2 on AIX 6.1.

I do normally our production database backups on TSM, but this time, I need to copy the current production database to another server.

Seems simple enough, right?

Well, I put all my settings configuration RMAN 'disc' and created a new backup of the database of production on a local disk.
Then I copied my game on the second backup server.

I first started my nomount database, my DBID and restored my controlfile.
No problem. That has worked well.

Then, I tried several variants to restore the database.
try simple "restore database".
as well as to run {allocate channel c0 type disk; restore database, release the c0 channel} and then a few other ways.
All attempts to give me the same exact errors:

RMAN > run {}
2 > allocate channel c0 type disk;
3 > restore database;
4 > output channel c0;
{5 >}

allocated channel: c0
channel c0: sid = 651 devtype = DISK

From restoration to 29 July 09

output channel: c0

Help, please...

have you copied the backup to the same location in production?
otherwise, you must first catalog backups so the controlfile know where to find...

    Question on create Redo log after restoring files and recover

    According to the guidelines of this post, I shouldn't use
    alter database open resetlogs
    for a full recovery.

    So, what should I do
    a.
    Should I use
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN ; -- I think I got some error with this command when i issued it after RMAN-06054 error . Can't recall what error
    OR

    b.
    Should I use

    Here is how I could use a combination of RMAN (for RESTORATION) and SQL (for the OPEN RESETLOGS):

  • Restoring a backup RMAN to a new instance of the database

    Hi guys,.

    I have a problem with restoring a backup RMAN I have with me a new instance of the database. I have with me are:

    1. backup of the SPFile. (O1_MF_NCNNF_CTLFILE_BU_92DVGYO2_. BKP)

    2. backup of the control file (O1_MF_NNSNF_SPFILE_BU_92DVGW9H_. BKP)

    3. the full backup (O1_MF_NNSNF_FULLPROD_BU_92DVGW9H_. BKP)

    I received these files to a client environment and I need to restore these to a new instance of the database on a local computer. I gave an attempt as follows (in Oracle 10 g):

    1, creates a new instance of the (Test75) database using the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant

    2 SET ORACLE_SID = Test75

    3 connection to this instance with RMAN

    4 tried to restore the SPFILE from the BKP file received.

    I make mistakes and cannot continue. I don't know if I will carry out the correct steps. Please help me telling me how I should achieve this goal.

    Thank you.

    1. backup of the SPFile. (O1_MF_NCNNF_CTLFILE_BU_92DVGYO2_. BKP)

    2 backup of control file (O1_MF_NNSNF_SPFILE_BU_92DVGW9H_. BKP)

    The first backuppiece resembles a ControlFile and the other looks like a SPFILE'

    > I get error and cannot continue

    What is the error?  (I assume that you have tried to restore the O1_MF_NNSNF_SPFILE_BU_92DVGW9H_ SPFILE. BKP

    Note that you must also SET the DBID before restoring the controlfile

  • restore the backup rman 11.2.0.2 in another 11.2.0.4 server and open the normal ORA-39710

    Hi guys,.

    I have a backup in oracle 11.2.0.2, and tried to restore this backup in oracle 11.2.0.4. I'm working on windows server 2008.

    I think that I did a few steps well until that stage;

    ALTER database open resetlogs upgraded;

    then I could access the database normally, but when I try to do an export (EXP) tradicionally command line says:

    ORA-39710: only connect AS SYSDBA is allowed when it is OPENED in UPGRADE mode

    How can I open database in normal mode?

    Has what measures he forgotten?

    Best regards.

    Hey, guys, sorry...

    Thank you for your response.

    I did following:

    upgrade of start-up;

    @?/rdbms/admin/catupgrd.sql

    Take a few minutes and finish.

    Then

    sqlplus / as sysdba

    startup

    And worked hard.

    Then:

    @?/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql

    Thank you.

    Everything you need is available as because you are restoring on site. That is, rman target / catalog xxx@xxxx

    Follow these steps:

    START a dummy Instance to run restore SPFILE with RMAN. This is necessary because rman are not running restore without instance.

    for example

    cd $ORACLE_HOME/dbs

    Just make a backup of current INIT.

    cp initRAC1.ora initRAC1.ora_curr

    export ORACLE_SID=RAC1

    rman target / catalog xxxx@xxxx/xxxx

    RMAN> set DBID 2329313036; # This identifies in the catalog which database is used.

    # Now startup a dummy instance and perfom you restore.

    RMAN >  run{
     startup nomount;
    # Use one of the three options:
     restore spfile from tag "TAG20110128T161437";
    # or
     restore spfile from autobackup;
    # or
     restore spfile from '+FLASH/rac/autobackup/2011_01_28/s_741629677.282.741629687';
    shutdown immediate;

    startup nomount;

    restore controlfile from autobackup;

    startup mount;

    restore database;

    recover database;

    alter database open resetlogs;

    }

    Your spfile will be restored to $ORACLE_HOME/dbs, you should move it to before ASM.

  • RMAN-20260 error trying to delete a backup piece

    Hello

    In my company, we use Oracle 10 g, managed by RMAN and integrated with TSM backup.
    In order to remove old backup files, there is a removal script to do this.

    Basically this script:

    connect to the RMAN catalog
    allocate channel for maintenance device 'sbt_tape '.
    Change Remove backuppiece < names of files of more than 35 days rc_backup_piece >;

    When this command is executed, this error is generated:

    RMAN-03002: failure of the command to delete at 18/01/2010 17:14
    RMAN-06004: error ORACLE recovery catalog database: RMAN-20260: element not found in the Recovery Catalog backup
    RMAN-06092: error while up the backup piece

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.
    Iron

    Hi iron,

    What I've noticed is that in the file log of alerts is an ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS on 2 January 10.

    Any idea who executed the order resetlogs on January 2, 2010?

    It does not create a new entry in the rc_database table?

    No, someone part actively this database in the catalog.

    Can give you any suggestions what to do now?

    Well, you have a 35-day retention strategy, which means that you can purge all data catalogue the XPTO DBID 4085004961 database in less than a week.
    Wait until February 8, then run the following sql against the catalog.

    Select ' EXEC DBMS_RCVCAT. UNREGISTERDATABASE('||) DB_KEY | «, » || DBID |') ;'|| ' '|| resetlogs_time
    of rc_database
    WHERE name = "& db_name.
    ;

    Use the output to unregister database with DBID 4085004961 only.

    Kind regards

    Tycho

    I've never heard a backup report bugs, however if you are interested in, you can always restore the device as good as new.

    Hello, Franklytex!

    Welcome to the communities of Apple Support and post your first message! Looks like you have a problem to restore your backup from iTunes. I know how important it is that your iPhone can be restored properly! Read this article which has steps for you If your iTunes backup could not be completed or you can not restore from a backup. More precisely:

    Try again after each step

    1. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Connect your device to your computer with a cable USB, then Select your device in iTunes. If your device does not appear in iTunes, you must correct this problem until you can continue. Or, if you have forgotten your password or your device is off, know what to do.
    3. Turn off your computer and your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Then turn on again them.
    4. If you use a Mac, skip this step. If you use a Windows PC and iTunes will not respond or never ends your backup, you may need to to update, edit, disable or uninstall your security software.
    5. If you have multiple computers, try to make a backup on your other Mac or PC. Otherwise, use iCloud for save your device and restore it from your backup to iCloud.
    6. If you see an alert indicating an error has occurred, your backup is corrupt or incompatibleor there is not enough disk space, find your error message below to learn what to do next.
    7. Contact Apple technical support.

    See you soon!

  • After that I restored the backup Thunderbird using Mozilla Backup, any of my accounts table. I checked that they are in need of backup, lift the mail.

    I backed up my 24 Thunderbird using Mozilla Backup. I did what I had to change one of my accounts. After making the changes, I decided to restore the backup I took. Restore seems to work and I checked the profile is correct and e-mail accounts are in the mail folder. However, when I run Thunderbird, only the Local folder is displayed, any of my email accounts. I really need to get this working I have very important data in the email. Thanks for your help.

    Did you change the path where the mail files?

    And, you use local folders in the GUI of TB to store messages?
    Did not have that clearly in your post.

    According to what you actually did Re: evolution of the accounts, & if the backup has been restored in the way (profile) accounts (and the profiles.ini file) think they are in. if the profile is now in a different path, you will need to change the path in the file profiles.ini to reflect the correct path.

    Also, sometimes after restore or do other work, the *.msf files in e-mail files get damaged or simply confused. The .msf files are in the same folder as the Inbox, sent, etc.. They are the index files - not electronic mail storage files. (the mail storage files do not have extensions).

    Often, when the email that actually exist in the mail files does not show in the accounts, remove only files *.msf in each acct mail storage file will correct it. This is the easiest step to try, but again - it depends on actions leading to the question.

    They will be recreated when TB restarts & apparently can "fix" themselves, to redisplay stored messages. Unless something on current storage files is corrupted.

  • Cannot restore the backup folder

    I had a problem with my laptop HDD (bad sectors) and I had to format it.
    Before formatting it, I saved the profile folder in my external HARD drive.
    I tried to restore the profile but it does not work. It only contains the folder "Cache" (12 MB), "mozilla-media-cache" folder (0 KB), folder "OfflineCache" (11KO), folder "startupCache" (1.06 MB), folder "thumbnails" (50 KB), urlclassifier3.sqlite and urlclassifier.pset
    I can't find cookies.sqlite, formhistory.sqlite, etc..
    Is it possible to restore all of the folder "cache" or in any other way? My hard drive now low level formatting, in order to restore the old data is impossible.

    Thank you in advance.

    Unfortunately, this isn't your profile folder. You saved % LocalAppData%\... but instead, you must have backed up % AppData%\...

    Disk cache contains files of web site such as pages, images, and scripts. It is practically useless for the purposes of restoring a backup.

    I highly recommend to keep good backups of your data somewhere other than the player in question. Bad sectors are not a good sign and may indicate larger problems to come.

  • Can I reset my MacBook Air and restore the backup I made before to reduce others' storage space?

    Hello

    so I have the 126 GB MacBook Air. My problem is that the other takes 87 GB!

    So can I reset my laptop and restore the backup later like you do with iPhones to reduce the "other"?

    I guess this could work, but I'm afraid something away...

    I hope that there is someone who can help me!

    Thank you!

    There is nothing necessarily wrong with 'other' as long it's documents, etc. that you need.

    Make a backup and a restore just grow what you have now. I would not recommend it.

    If you don't think the number is correct you can reindex to see if that changes it: Spotlight: how to re - index folders or volumes - Apple Support

  • corrupted backup iPhone: you can restore old backup from Time Machine?

    Hello

    I recently had my iPhone 6 (last iOS 9.2) stolen and when I bought my new 6 iPhone updated to iOS 9.3.1 and it synchronized, he said that the March 21 backup was corrupt or incompatible.

    Leaving aside Why is it (except if in your knowledge, it has an effect), I was wondering is it possible to go into the Time Machine and find the last iPhone backup (hopefully not corrupt or incompatible) and then use it when you synchronize and put up my new phone?

    So in this case I would lose a week / a month value of the data over the year or so for my backup previously listed on my iTunes currently.

    More important still, I need to get my SMS and notes.

    For now, my contacts seem to have all come finer.

    A big thank you for any help you can provide.

    See you soon

    You should be able to do. Follow the instructions here to find and restore the backup on your hard drive.
