RMAN backup from 11g to 10g

Hi all,

I have a catalog DB 11 g and 10 g database. If I can take backup of catalog of 11g database 10g.

When I try to connect to the rman, I get the error below.

RMAN catalog=rman/rman@catalogdb target=sys@db10g_58

Catalog DB is in 11g
TargetDB in 10g

OS: Windows 2003 Server on the servers.

Please post suggestions.

    Well, the solution could be as simple as that. Instead of left-clicking the executable command prompt or shortcut, hold SHIFT key and right click. This gives you the "Run as Administrator" option.

    Hello
    Think maybe it's a bug - there are a number of issues related to this kind of thing and I think you should be on 10.2.0.3 at least to do this.

    Sorry - iniitially I thought that you were shooting 10 g (and not the reverse).

  • RMAN backup optimization CANCEL 11g

    Hi all?

    I tested 11g RMAN CANCEL backup optimization
    1 I filled out by manipulation sql undo tablespace and not commit
    2nd undo_ts backed up by RMAN (size 24 m)
    3rd I made a commit
    Then the tablespace undo supported again but the backup_size column has not changed (24 m)
    Then I did some more manipulations and supported undo_ts again. This reduced time backup_size column. (11 m)
    Then I rebooted db and saved to undo_ts again. Size of backup at this time became what I expected (600K)

    The question is why did not reduce the size 11 g rman undo tablespace backups after validation?

    Thanks in advance
    Turkel

    Hi Turkel,
    Space used to cancel is also linked to the undo retention implementation.
    As it seems do you an update of test and perform backups on:
    -14: 24:37 (-> 25 M)
    -14: 25:41 (-> 25 M)
    -14:33:59 (-> 11 M)
    -15: 28:43 (-> 600 K)
    The first two backups are probably still in the retention period to cancel the update.
    The third backup shows a cancellation partly empty (is your setting 900?).
    The last falls outside the period of retention for the update, resulting the small size of backup.
    Kind regards

  • Creating a new controlfile with RMAN backup data files

    Hello

    I use oracle 10g (10.2.0.1) in RHEL5 server. I am trying to restore a RMAN backup from one server to another server again with the new name of the comic. I took on the RMAN backup spfile and created her pfile and edited the file pfile with new dbname and directory structure and launched the db in nomount with new pfile. Adomi,

    It is sad to see that you are still RMAN in 8i mode where you are on 10g.

    The script is bs, sorry

    Run {}
    allocate channel t1 type disk; -not required
    backup current controlfile; -not necessary, as this is already done backup of database
    backup database;
    delete any backup archivelog entry;
    output channel c1; -not required.
    }

    If you have autobackup controlfile, you might just

    backup database archivelog

    and be done with it.

    Like you didn't made a RMAN backup from the start, should have read your archivelog backup statement

    ARCHIVELOG backup all Skip inaccessible delete entry.

    Once successful Oracle shouldn't the archivelog has more need, and you should make a second backup without the skip inaccessible clause.

    Question
    ======
    I need to restore and recover the database from this new backup location. This is as simple as the following:

    1 change the default RMAN location to the new location:

    DISK CONFIGURATION CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE FORMAT "u01/oracle/backup/ora_df%t_s%s_s%p". (note that I've changed it to the new location)

    2 restore and recover (I have a good knowledge/experience in the part).

    Thanks in advance.

    just by changing the default backup location, custom RMAN find backups on its own, you should always run an overlap

    However I would not change the default location temporarily

    RMAN> CATALOG START WITH '/my/backup/location'

    will be of RMAN recognize your backups

  • Import of schemas and tables of RMAN backup

    Hi all

    I have here are 3 requirements:

    (1) is it possible that I can import a single table using RMAN backup, because I have no more than one day of EXPDP dump file and the requirement is to store the data of three days.

    (2) is it possible that I can import a single SCHEMA using RMAN backup, because I have no more than one day of EXPDP dump file and the requirement is to store the data of three days.

    (3) can I import a package from the RMAN backup?

    I have incremental backup of level 1 and level 0.

    My database is 11.2.0.3

    Thank you and best regards,

    Mukesh

    Hi Mukesh,

    All of your needs can be met with output up to 11g using RMAN database, but beyond of 12 c, you can restore a single table RMAN backup (RMAN BACK TABLE new feature to the 12 c (Doc ID 1521524.1) Oracle database). For your condition impdp/expdp is the best Utilities option until oracle provided up to version 11 g.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards
