RMAN cloning daily of the CARS to the NON-RAC

Hi all

How can I get a daily updating of Production - database of node 2 CARS to a single instance database. Ideally, I would use as RMAN backup to restore the database rather than duplicate using the current database.

Please can someone help me with the steps to achieve this?

Thank you very much

Details:

Database production 11.2.0.4 (node 2) RAC on ODA (Oracle Database Appliance) Oracle Linux 5.9

Backup RMAN in place on PROD - full backup weekly and daily incremental

I don't think that we have different steps to duplicate cars cars not

create pfile to auxiliary instance

Start the database in condition nomount

Have db_file_name_convert and log_file_name_convert

Run the command duplicate

RMAN target sys /@TARGET auxiliary sys /@AUX DEBUG trace = rman.trc

For a database no CARS, there is a one-to-one mapping between the instance and database.

If you don't want to use an existing database to store the new patterns, you need to create a new database.

  • The CSSD does not start automatically on the Non-RAC - AIX 5 L

    Hi all

    Database: Oracle 10.2.0.4
    AIX 5.3 TL 10 OS

I am facing a problem with the Non-RAC/Clusterware CSSD.

When we restarted the CSSD service server does not start automatically, and there is no relevant messages in the log files of the CSSD.

Run 'localconfig reset $ORACLE_HOME', to run but does not start the CSSD.

Running 'start /etc/init.cssd' - does not work, nothing happens when you throw

I manually ran "file/etc / init.cssd to run" and the start of the CSSD (ossd.bin) service without errors.

No error on errpt in AIX.

I opened a SR, but I'm waiting for response from the Oracle.

    Hello

I think that this problem is not with Oracle, but in AIX.

It may be that a process that starts at the start is the other process. You need to identify what application/process.

Check the process in inittab who are already active and which are inactive, they must be active.

A clue: is very common process that is launched in standby mode keep the boot server.

    wait
When the init command enters the run level that matches the entry's run level,
start the process and wait for its termination.
All subsequent reads of the /etc/inittab file while the init
command is in the same run level will cause the init command to ignore this entry.

  • RMAN cloning of the CARS to the Non-RAC

    Hi gurus,

I had cloned successfully my DB of RAC to Non-RAC via the RMAN. Below is the configuration

    RAC

    -2 nodes

-GR 11, 2 (Compatible 11.0.1.6 according to the needs of the Application)

-ASM (2 starts DATA and FRA)

    -OS RHEL 6.3

    Non - RAC

    -node 1

-Stand alone11gR2 (Compatible 11.0.1.6 according to the needs of the Application)

-ASM (2 starts DATA and FRA)

    -OS RHEL 6.3

My approach was to clone DB and then change SID with utility nest. My understanding is that utility nest will also replace file ASM paths of CRAMPRD to CRAMSIT, but that has not happened.

So question is when I'm checking my paths on CRAMSIT he still refelect CRAMPRD eg - + DATA1/CRAMPRD. Is it possible to rename this directory in ASM railways so that it should reflect my SID.

    Kind regards

    Nikhil Mehta.

No, NEST would change the paths of the DSO.

I assume that you have set the ORACLE_SID CRAMSIT on the server not CARS before the restoration.

What you should have done is to put DB_UNIQUE_NAME = "CRAMSIT" (even with DB_NAME = "CRAMPRD") on the server not CARS before the restoration.  Oracle would have used the DB_UNIQUE_NAME to set the path of the ASM (note that when restoring, it would have shown ' restoration to + DATA1/CRAMPRD "but would have been catering to '+ DATA1/CRAMSIT').

You can now use Oracle Support Note

How to rename/move a data file in the same [564993.1 ID] ASM diskgroup

to rename the paths to the DSO.

Looks like it is exactly what you were asking.

You need to connect to the TARGET, CATALOG & AUXILIARY of the rman prompt instance.
You then run your script/command clone, which you claim you already know how to do.

  • What happens if RMAN has stopped in the Middle?

How can manage us if RMAN being stopped in the Middle?

    Restart RMAN backups

With the reusable backup feature, RMAN backs up only files that were not saved after a specified date.

    bootable backup

The feature that allows to RMAN back up only the files that have not been backed up since a specified date. Restart unit ended last backup set or copy of the image. You can use this feature after a backup fails to save the parts of the database behind the backup failed.

    On redemarrables backups

The minimum unit of restart is a data file. However, if a backup set contains a backup piece, and this piece contains blocks of several data files, then restart unit is the backup piece. The reboot to get copies of the image unit is a data file.

The advantage of redemarrables backup is that if the backup generates multiple backup sets, then backup completed successfully sets do not be rerun. However, if the entire database is written in a backup set, and if the backup fails to halfway through, then the whole of the backup should be repeated.

IO errors that RMAN meets when reading files or writing for the backup pieces or copies of the RMAN image put an end to the current backup task. For example, if RMAN tries to save a file of data, but the data file is not on the disk, then RMAN complete backup. If several channels are used or redundant backup copies are created, then RMAN can however be able to continue the backup without user intervention.

RMAN can back up only the files that have not been backed up since a specified date. Use this function after a backup fails to save the parts of the database behind the backup failed.

You can reboot a backup by specifying the SINCE TIME clause on the BACKUP command. If the SINCE TIME is later than the time of execution, then RMAN backs up the file. If you use BACKUP DATABASE NOT BACKED UP without the SINCE TIME parameter, then RMAN backs up only files that have never been backed up.

Restart a backup after having partially completed

Use of the SINCE TIME parameter of the BACKUP command to specify a date after which a new backup is necessary. If the SINCE TIME is later than the time of execution, then RMAN backs up the file. If you use BACKUP DATABASE NOT BACKED UP without the SINCE TIME parameter, then RMAN backs up only files that have never been backed up.

To back up only files which have been saved after a specified date:

    1. Start RMAN and connect to a catalog of database and recovery target (if used).
    2. Run the BACKUP ... NOT BACKED UP SINCE TIME command.

Specify a valid date in the SINCE TIME parameter. The following example uses the default channel configured to back up all database files and logs archived recovery that have not been backed up during the last two weeks:

      BACKUP NOT BACKED UP SINCE TIME 'SYSDATE-14' DATABASE PLUS ARCHIVELOG;

    Catalogue rmandr/rmandr@rman

This catalogue is different from the one registered with the Production database?
Note: You cannot save the same database - that is to say the Production and standby are the same DBID - twice in a catalog.
Yet your catalog reports that the database is not registered.
Apparently, Production is on a different catalog OR is not registered at all.

If you use the same catalog, you should
    a. NOT to register the day before
    b. STOP the recovery on the eve
    c. MOUNT WATCH on the eve
and then the day before RMAN BACKUP

Once the backup is complete, start the recovery on the day before.

    Hi all

    Hello
It is true that for physical standby Robert says. If you use the suspend logic, the backup is not identical to the primary database.
In addition, you said that the wait is in read-only mode. If it is physical in the version prior to 11g, when the database is read-only, it is not get synchronized with the primary, she can apply archives only when mounted.
Anyway, you can use RMAN to back up the database pending.
