Roaming between two autonomous Aps in root mode

HI guys,.

(Q) what is the difference between roaming and mobility between two autonomous APs?

I configured two APs of stand-alone mode in root mode with the same settings (same wlan ID for two VLANs) wlan. How does choose between these two APs clients to connect.

I read a few docs and they said they will choose AP on the intensity of the signal. My question is, do I need to activate some kind of roaming/mobility between them so that if clients connected to an access point moving to the AP another area, they will automatically connect to AP with AP signal stronger.

Or how the roaming/mobility between two autonomous APs

Thank you

HI Safarazaz,

Info: About the connection to the access point, the customer makes the final decision based on the use, the power of the signal... etc.

So now we come to the point on homelessness:

IF you use a WPA/WPA2-PSK, then all you need to do is configure the AP exactly the same way, with the exception of the IP address on the interface BVI.

IF you use 802. 1 x, then you want to configure WDS to the cached key.

  • IPsec VPN between two routers - mode ESP Transport and Tunnel mode

    Hi experts,

I have this question about the Transport mode and Tunnel mode for awhile.

Based on my understanding of 'Transport' mode is not possible because you always original "internal" private in the IP headers or IP addresses. They are always different as public IP on interfaces enabled with Crypto Card addresses. When encapsulated in the VPN tunnel, the internal IP addresses must be included or the remote VPN router won't know where to forward the packet.

To test, I built a simple GNS3 with three routers laboratory. R1 and R3 are configured as VPN routers and the R2 must simulate Internet.

My configs are also very basic. The R2 is routing between 1.1.1.0/24 and 2.2.2.0/24. It is defined as the gateway of R1 and R3.

    R1:

    crypto ISAKMP policy 100
    BA aes
    preshared authentication
    Group 2
ISAKMP crypto key 123456 address 2.2.2.2
    !
    Crypto ipsec transform-set ESP_null null esp esp-sha-hmac
    !

    defined peer 2.2.2.2
    transformation-ESP_null game
    match address VPN

    !

list of IP - VPN access scope
    ip permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 10.0.0.0 0.0.0.255
    !

    R3:

    crypto ISAKMP policy 100
    BA aes
    preshared authentication
    Group 2
ISAKMP crypto key 123456 address 1.1.1.2

list of IP - VPN access scope
    Licensing ip 10.0.0.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255

I configured transform-"null" value, while it will not encrypt the traffic.

Then I tried the two 'transport' mode and mode "tunnel". I ping a host in the internal network of the R1 to another host in the internal network of the R3. I also tried 'telnet'. I also captured packets and carefully compared in both modes.

Packets encapsulated in exactly the same way!

    It's just SPI + sequence No. + + padding

I will attach my screenshots here for you guys to analyze it. I would be grateful for any explanation. I confused maybe just when it comes to the NAT...

I guess my next step is to check if the two modes to make the difference when the GRE is used.

    Thank you

    Difan

    Hi Difan,

As you point out the mode of transport is not always applicable (i.e. applicable if IP source and destination is equal to corresnpoding proxy IDs).

A typical scenario in this mode of transport is used:

    -Encryption between two hosts

    -GRE tunnels

    -L2TP over IPsec

Even if you set "transport mode" this does not mean that it will be used. IOS routers and I blieve also ASA will perform backup even if the mode of transport is configured but does not apply in tunnel mode.

I can take a look at your traces to sniff, but all first can you please check if you transport mode on your ipsec security associations? "See the crypto ipsec his" exit you will show the tunnel or transport mode.

  • Autonomous aPs with several SSID in a VLAN?

    Hello

We use autonomous APs to Cisco in our spirit of place several THAT SSID configured with WPA - PSK.

Now, we want to add a different SSID using WPA - EAP authentication.

Since many of our branches have flat architecture VLAN with only one VLAN, we would like to have two SSIDS in the same VLAN, in a subnet.

This is supported in the autonomous APs?

    Kind regards

    Sinan

It is possible, if it is not a standard way of configuration.

Here's a solution if you willing to give it a try. If you have a dish vlan, you can configure your AP connected as access vlan switchport & configure your SSID two like that. It should work (I tested with Open Auth & you can try to add security as well). You may not be able to broadcast two SSIDS, but it's something you have to make compromises if you wish.

  • I want to create communication between two laptops by Bluetooth series

    Hello

I'm trying to accomplish communication series between two laptops via a Bluetooth connection.

The two laptops are NOT portable Toshiba, but they work together the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack For Windows. They have both also use the default Bluetooth Manager program supplied by Toshiba and Dell (just rebadged?).

Basically I can set up a connection no problem, but then I have never send data serially from one computer and watch the receiver serial port on another computer but nothing happens.

Is there a good tutorials for this? It would be nice to have something for the Toshiba Bluetooth Manager especially windows and buttons have names as explained in the tutorial.

    Thanks in advance.

I tried via a hyperterminal connection for testing purposes and it worked.
Maybe the description also contains useful information for you.
    It is here:

    PC1:
Start "Bluetooth settings-> Mode custom-> Select Remote PC-> Select"Serial Port"-> Accept proposed (in my case COM40) COM-> Confirm Assistant windows port
    until the installation is completed".

    PC2:
    Start 'HyperTerminal-> Select COM7.

    PC1:
Start 'HyperTerminal-> Select COM40 (in my case. (See step 1 above) »

    PC1, PC2:
Enter the password even if security is enabled for example "0000".

Everything you type in HyperTerminal must be visible in HyperTerminal of PC2 and vice versa.

  • GPIB communication between two computers

I try to communicate between two computers via GPIB. A computer to send an order, the other will receive, save and then respond accordingly. This response will then be received by the first computer and displays (this is the emulation of a device, the real need is to communicate with a satellite TT & C)

I realized all of this. However, to be in listening mode I wired a property node with a timeout-infinity (1) before reading. Now I can't leave the VI as he is still stuck in playback until the receipt of an order.

How can I get out of the VI when he's stuck in playback function.

PS: Using GPIB for communication is a requiremnet of ht eproect and cannot be replaced.

    Hello

You can have the timeout of read and then clear the error and keep looping until you get a message.  And then you can use arithmetic consisting of stop the loop if you click on the stop button, or get one error other than a timeout, or if playback returns data.

If it works for you?  I joined your 'writing and then read.vi' with the added code.  Double check my logic, I'm sure it's just but not run it.  Also, if you return a large amount of data make sure that the time-out period is sufficient.

  • Measure the time between two digital pulse

    Hello

For a non-critical calendar application, I need to measure the time interval between consecutive TTL pulses, ranging from the order of 0.5 s for a few seconds, with a low accuracy of +/-10-50ms. The interval being measured varies between the rising edge of the first pulse and the front of the next and so on.

I have several input lines I need to deal with. Because it's a critical machination low cost, I don't want to use digital counters for each line, so I work with an acquisition of data USB6008 and have connected the input rows TTL on the digital inputs of the device. Avoiding will be sufficient.

I found a good example of VI on discussion forums that does almost the same thing, only it uses instead of the DAQ Assistant user input. The VI works including the time the program going on in a while loop. I replaced with the DAQ Assistant output (a channel) user input in the hope that it is still work.

When I run the program in "run once" mode, it seems to work perfectly. However, in "continuous run" it measures only a very small interval, probably just the time between two samples.  I think it has something to do with the help of a while loop in combination with the DAQ Assistant. Anyone who has any suggestions how to solve this problem?

    Thank you!

OK... first of all, you should never use the button "run continuously.  I wish that NEITHER would be to eliminate it, but told me that it is sometimes useful for debugging.  If you want your program to run over and over again, use a while loop with a stop"" button.

If I'm reading your code correctly, you make your initial moment, and then collect data from data acquisition.  When one of the channels is "T", you stop your loop and the end time of capture.  (By the way, why you convert your table to a cluster?  Why not just index the appropriate channel in the table directly?)

Since you want to capture the time between two consecutive pulses, you need to know when a transition has occurred... i. e when your digital line went from F (no pulse) to T (pulse start).  This will give you your forehead.  Right now, all you're doing is looking for a value T - so you have no way of knowing if you are looking for to the previous impulse again, or a new impetus.  You also burn 100% of your processor with the way you have your programme in place.

You need a small loop delay so that your VI is not 100% of your hogs CPU time.  Given that you can live with an accuracy of 50msec, what I suggest that you use.

See attached picture for you give an idea of how to implement.  He will probably need some refining operations, but it should point you in the right direction.

    I hope this helps.

  • The way of writing to a wireless bridge between two different routers.1:broadband and dir 2:dlink 605 l

I want to bridge.and wireless I can't do that... Please send me how to write to a wireless bridge between two different routers.

    1:broadband
    and
    2:Dlink dir 605 l,

    Hi Mohammed Ehsan Jourah,.

Thanks for posting the request in the Microsoft community forums.
I understand that you need to know how to make a wireless bridge between two different routers

What version of the operating system is installed on the computer?

To connect multiple computers, install a network adapter in each and run a network CAT5 cabling to connect each one to a hub (and thus the other.) The computer that will serve as a transition will have a standard network card for wired and a wireless network adapter that will connect to the wireless (WAP) access point or gateway on the second network.

A network bridge is software or hardware that connects two networks or more so that they can communicate. You can create only a single bridge network on a computer, but a bridge can handle any number of network connections.

You can try the steps at the bridge between two different routers wireless.
    a. determine the coverage area. When using two or more routers, the coverage area should be divided, and each router should be placed in a central location in each subdivision. If you add a wireless router to an existing network, this may mean moving the first router.
    b. decide which router is the main router. The main router is connected to the Internet, a LAN cable or other networks. It should be as close to the wired network connections or who has the best line of sight to another wireless network. In addition, the main router should be a high range router, allowing large tables of State and more users.
    c. buy a spare antenna, as the antennas that come with most routers do not have very good range. Quality omnidirectional antennas can push the range and signal strength of each of the routers, which, in turn, will reduce the cost by allowing routers less cover more space overall.
    d. deploy the primary router carefully. This router is the most important and requires most of the time of installation and options. Set the WEP (Protocol) encryption Service Set Identifier (SSID) and wireless, set up the Internet connection and test the router with some clients (computers). Once you get the main router deployed, deploy other routers should be easy.
    e. deploy the secondary routers, which must be configured to operate in "mode of transition." Secondary routers should be deployed around the perimeter of a large area or 'hot spots' where users placed - for example, will convene a bench Park or the table.

  • "Limited connection" when you configure the network between two computers XP.

Original title: Configuration of the network connection

Trying to establish a network connection between two home PCs., both running Windows XP Pro. Have been through the network on both PC Setup Wizard but, they still say limited, in fact no connection. I use an Ethernet cable between the two Crusader. If it is true what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanx Terry

Old but good, networking tips from MVP Malke, MS:

The best and simplest is to buy a wireless router. This way you get Internet connectivity both machines and the added benefit of security more between you and the Internet. Then you configure your network wireless safely, and then you configure file/printer sharing. Here is information on the implementation of a router and also in networking. It seems long, but don't be intimidated. Setting up a router and the LAN of sharing between two computers takes about 15 minutes.

    The router configuration

Setting up a router is simple enough. Normally, you run the CD that came with the router and follow the instructions. If you're running Vista, maybe the CD that came with the router does not work; I do not know this. But you can set up the router without the CD. Note that if you have Internet cable for the connection you have just set up the router to DHCP (or there may even be a choice of cable to choose). If you have DSL Internet, you select TRP usually and enter the username and password you selected when you initially set the DSL connection. So:

    1. turn off the power to your cable modem.

    2. attach a cable (usually supplied with the router) course Ethernet cat5e Internet/WAN port of the router to the Ethernet port on the cable modem.

    3. connect the ethernet cable cat5e from the network card in your computer to one of the ports on the router. If you do not have an ethernet cable (because you were using USB), you will need to go to the store and buy a.

    4. turn on the cable modem. After that all the lights are on, turn on the router.

    To configure the router:

Have a computer connected to the router with an ethernet cable. Examples given are for a Linksys router. See the manual of your router or the router mftr's Web site. for the parameters by default if you don't have a Linksys. Open a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and in the address bar type:

http://192.168.1.1 [Enter] (it is default IP address of the router, which varies from router to router then check your manual)

This will bring you to the login screen of the router. The default username is blank and the Linksys default password is "admin" without the quotes. Enter this information. You are now in the configuration of the router utility. Your configuration utility may be slightly different from mine.

Click the Administration link at the top of the page. Enter your new password. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE. Re-enter the password to confirm it, and then click Save settings at the bottom of the page. The router will reboot and show you the box of connection again. Do not fill in the user name and put it in your new password to enter the configuration utility.

Now, click on the link wireless at the top of the page. Change the network name (SSID) wireless by default to something, you'll recognize. I suggest that my clients not use their surname as the SSID. For example, you might want to name your network wireless network "CastleAnthrax" or similar.

Click on save settings and when you get the prompt that your changes were successful, click the wireless security link which is just beside the Basic Wireless Settings link (where you changed your SSID). If you have a newish computer, you will be able to affect security WPA2-Personal Mode. Do this and enter a password. The password is what you enter on all computers that are allowed to connect to the wireless network. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE.

At this point, your router is set up and if the computer that you use to configure the router will normally connect wireless, disconnect the Ethernet cable and wireless of the computer should see your new network. Enter the password you created to join the network and start surfing.

    B. file/printer sharing of

Excellent, comprehensive, but easy to understand article on sharing files/printer under Vista. Contains information about sharing printers and files, and the folders:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx

For XP, start by running the Network Setup Wizard the on all machines (see warning in section A below).

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, it means which allows file sharing / print on the Exceptions tab normally run the XP Network Setup Wizard will take care of this for these machines. The only "witch hunt", it will turn on the XPSP2 Windows Firewall. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus with "Internet Worm Protection" (like Norton 2006/07) which acts as a firewall, you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this. The instructions on this link work for XP and Vista:

Set up Windows to automatically connect (MVP Ramesh) - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

    D. Si one or more of the computers is XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. XP Home does not share the users directory or the Program Files, but you can share folders inside those directories. A better choice is to simply use the Shared Documents folder. See the first link above for more information on Vista sharing.

    F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but it is outside this response.

  • Help! Static route between two router WRT160NL

    Hi all

I have my internet connection to connect to my main router from Linksys WRT160NL (192.168.1.1) with 192.168.1.x.

My 2nd Linksys router to connect to the first gateway as well.
The 2nd router has the ip 192.168.1.100 WAN and it's a local subnet as 192.168.2.x.

My 192.168.2.x machines can access the internet and connect to all the machines in the network 192.168.1.x.

However, the 1.x network cannot access the machines on the network of the 2. And because of that, I can't share or print between two networks.

I try to add static routes on my main router (192.168.1.1) with the road: 192.168.2.0 mask 255.255.255.0 and default gateway 192.168.1.100

However, the road does not work yet.

in any case to ensure that the 1.x network able to access the network 2.x and 2.x access 1.x file and print sharing.

    Thanks for your help!

Gateway of the router does NAT who made the side inaccessible side LAN WAN, unless you configure port forwarding automatic or similar. If she would not make your LAN 192.168.1 would be accessible from the internet. Static routing will not change that.

You will need to disable NAT (aka switch to router mode) on the second router. You must configure a static route on the main router then. However, most likely your network 192.168.2 * will not have Internet more because the main router will NAT for 192.168.1. * and no 192.168.2. *.

If possible set up the second router as access point only and run a LAN.

  • Connectivity options between two Playbooks?

What are the options of connectivity between two Playbooks?

-What is BT pairing between possible?

-I guess if they are on the same subnet, you should be able to speak directly on Wifi?

You should definitely be able to talk directly between two PBs on the same wireless subnet.  Note that at least in the AIR, UDP is not supported, then you are probably limited to the protocols built on TCP, for now.  Find the other device is your main problem, but would work at the entrance of the user of an IP address, or something like QR codes.

I don't think we will have any BT support initially, but which should eventually be possible somehow.

We see interconnectivity NFC at some point, which would allow some ways ordained to share things.

In some simple cases, you can use the camera and a QR code, although I do not think THAT RIM has indicated any support in the short term for a barcode API so this would probably involve some third-party libraries.

If you wanted to get complicated, you can use the audio output on one and the MIC on the other.  Which would also be you to make a "show" mode of communication, although humans nearby could get mad.  (Probably the QR code approach allows a limited form of 'broadcast' as well).

I think that exhausts my supply of ideas for the moment.

  • IPSec Tunnel permanent between two ASA

    Hello

I configured a VPN IPSec tunnel between two ASA 5505 firewall. I want to assure you as the IPSec tunnel (this is why the security association) is permanent and do not drop due to the idle state.

    What should I do?

    Thanks for any help

    Yves

Disables keepalive IKE processing, which is enabled by default.

    (config) #tunnel - 10.165.205.222 group ipsec-attributes

    KeepAlive (ipsec-tunnel-config) #isakmp disable

Set a maximum time for VPN connections with the command of vpn-session-timeout in group policy configuration mode or username configuration mode:

attributes of hostname (config) #-Group Policy DfltGrpPolicy
    hostname (Group Policy-config) #vpn - idle - timeout no

attributes of hostname (config) #-Group Policy DfltGrpPolicy
    hostname (Group Policy-config) #vpn - session - timeout no

    Thank you

    Ajay
