root access to some commands crsctl

The GI Version: 11.2.0.3
Platform: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8

Most of the commands of crsctl can be run while connected as a network user. But some of the crsctl commands as below to be executed while connected as user root.
$ crsctl start cluster -n sdasher199
CRS-4563: Insufficient user privileges.

CRS-4000: Command Start failed, or completed with errors.
What type crsctl commands must be run as root? Is there a list or is there a way to identify?

That's as close as I've seen... it tells you what commands require root:

  • VCS Virtual X 8 / Root access

    Hello world

    Just a quick question.

    Since the last update of x7.2 to x8.1, virtual VCS in a cluster is not accessible with root login.

    The strange thing is that a fast track (device), within the same infrastructure is accessible via the root.

    It does even more on the vmware console.

    Any suspicion or have you seen this problem yet?

    Bravo and thank you for your answers,

    See you soon,.

    I can't really interpret your last message.

    You said 'connections series' where do you use it on a virtual serial ports of vcs - c?

    Do you have pwrec command to run and reset the password?

    Please see the guide to the administrator for more entries!

    The needs of VCS be restarted just to re - define the password password through pwrec, please follow the Administrator's guide.

    pwrec should be done via the virtual console in ESXi.

    (guess a virtual serial port might also work, but I've never tried and also why make it more complicated).

    Try something simple, like 8 characters containing A - X characters and 0-9 to rule out the possibility of keyboard problems.

    BTW, if you have the key to the strengthening of security, root access is disabled.

    How do you get to the Sony Tablet S root access?

    I want to use one of the samba applications, but you need root access to use them.

    I want to mount my directories of media to make my pictures, video and music available at the Gallery, video player and music player to my content is added to their scanning/database.

    Tried the DLNA app but it's terrible to navigate in the content and user experience very very basic.

    Thank you.

    P.S., Sony's Marketing really exaggerate the quality of the default software for the Tablet. Compared to the iPad, it's just sad to use.

  • When you run the script via VMware tools when power changed, some commands in script (as a copy) has failed.

    I came across a very strange question. I tried to create some custom vmware scripting tools, such as a new .bat file. This file contains a large number of orders, mostly as copy command "copy file://\\192.168.172.5\abc.exe c:\. ». I set this file as a custom script for Script event - power on guest operating system. Everything goes well with the bat file when I tested it. But after that I changed the State of power to power on, all other commands work fine except the copy commands in the bat file. Why? How can I make it work? Of course the problem of network. And that makes me very confused.

    Hello

    First copy the files on local disk was OK.

    If this works for local disk, but not to a network drive, then hit you indeed a permissions issue any.

    But if I run the script with tools VMware service script, the commands of copy (of the remote shared folder) failed while other controls worked well. I'm quite confused.

    In fact, it is easily explained. The VMware tools service (Yes, it's a service) runs under the account Local system and by default, the local system account has no access to the network for security reasons. You can change the user of the service runs under and see if that solves your problem (very likely)

    To do this, go to computer management (right-click icon desktop, select 'Manage') and open Services and Applications, service page, locate the VMware Tools service in the list. Select properties, log on to the page tabs and change account at your own Local System account. Restart the service and it should work.

  • VISA ignores some commands

    I write a little automation script for a DSA8200 Oscilloscope from Tektronix. Part of my script is to set up the MATH 1-4 channels and setting their vertical position and scale. Then, it is supposed to set reference 1 to math1. However, the scope has been ignored these steps. I used some Trace of e/s OR to ensure that orders are sent without error, they are. They're actually coming right on the scope. I am able to use the transmitter/receiver OR manually perform the operations after the script is finished, and they work fine. I tried setting ' * WAI ' all around my different orders trying to see if there is a SYNCHRONIZATION problem, but it did nothing. What could happen?

    I have included my nitrace file in case it is helpful at all.

    I came across this question with a range of TDS3000 Series.  What I've observed, is that the scope of application would miss orders while he treated the tricks of math (and other "long" processes).  My healing was the magical fairy wait.  I added literally 500ms wait between commands to allow the ability to run all its math and what not.

  • How Windows to determine which file to run with some command line commands?

    I had someone ask me an interesting question, and I really didn't have a good answer for them.  We were talking about the command prompt.  I showed them how they could start some programs simply by typing a command at the command prompt.  Their question is how is it, some files require a full path to start?  Also how the Windows does not know which file to run when the 'explorer' simple as orders are entered?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi, Deedubbadoo,

    Their question is how is it, some files require a full path to start?

    You can have some files in the same directory that share the same file name but have different extensions. For example, you might have a file named compta.com can launch an accounting program and another called Accnt connects your system to the accounting system network.

    The operating system searches for a file by using default file name extensions in the following order of precedence: .exe, .com, .bat, and. cmd to run Accnt so that compta.com exists in the same directory, you must include the .bat extension in the command line.

    If a component of a path is a file name, it must be the last element

  • Without root access startup script?

    In 2015 the API documentation tells you how to use startup scripts, but this requires root account access. The root account has been dismantled in the builds of TC.

  • SE host root access of vCenter (somehow)

    I've got 2 hosts which I can access via vCenter (domain admin creds). However, we never gave the root password (or no matter what password) for the local hosts. Now, I am loaded with access to the root of these hosts. They are guests of production so I cannot restart them on a whim but can schedule a reboot if it will certainly make me access. In addition, guests are a few States away so I don't (yet) have console access.

    Any suggestions?

    I see two methods that may work. The first depends on your licenses, i.e. requires Enterprise Plus license. In this case, you can set the password using profiles of the host (see, for example, http://www.vladan.fr/how-to-reset-esxi-5-x-root-password-and-under-which-conditions/). The second method-I've never used myself - is to modify the hosts to authentication AD (which you already did), create an ad "ESX Admins' with the right AD users group, and then connect to the host using the user account AD to change the root password. You may need to wait a few minutes for the ESXi host pick up the members of the AD Group.

  • find some command line parameters

    Hello

    Did someone knows a way to search for the following settings using the controls esxcfg command-line *?

    Set up, Promiscuous on all port groups Mode

    Definition of change of address Mac (refuse/accept)

    Forged transmissions setting (deny/accept)

    We had problems with the VI API - Perl screw up a certain essential Perl CPAN module (http://communities.vmware.com/thread/186321) so I hope to avoid having to install on all of our ESX servers to be able to use a script to make sure that these settings are set the way we want to.

    This can be accomplished using vimsh

    @ the vSwitch level:

    [root@himalaya backup_test]# vmware-vim-cmd hostsvc/net/vswitch_info | grep -E '(name|allowPromiscuous|macChanges|forgedTransmits)'
          name = "vSwitch0",
                   allowPromiscuous = false,
                   macChanges = true,
                   forgedTransmits = true,
          name = "vSwitch1",
                   allowPromiscuous = false,
                   macChanges = true,
                   forgedTransmits = true,
          name = "vSwitch5",
                   allowPromiscuous = false,
                   macChanges = true,
                   forgedTransmits = true,

    @ level of portgroup:

    vmware-vim-cmd hostsvc/net/config | grep -E '(name|allowPromiscuous|macChanges|forgedTransmits)'

    In addition, you should not install all the modules perl on the ESX host to use the VI API, they are already exposed using WSDL.

  • Organize some commands will not work

    Help, please! These commands are essential to the way I work in Illustrator - probably for you too. Keyboard shortcut for arrange, object - send to back, to Front, etc.. None of these commands will run. What I am doing wrong?

    I can drag the layers in the layers panel, but does not work orders reorganize no matter where I call them-the object on the top menu, right click on the object itself, or the way the more useful, keyboard shortcuts: CTRL + SHIFT + [etc.

    I do not use transparent traces, no paint, no groups. I'm in Normal shooting mode.

    For what it's worth, the Select commands run perfectly well. CTL + ALT + [or CTL + ALT +] no problem with one of these.

    I use the default keyboard shortcuts.

    Win 7 Pro 64 bit, Prem CS5.5 Prod. No difficulty in CS4...

    Thank you.

    [EDIT: reset preferences (moved AIPrefs, restart) but it did not help.]

    This is what I think and not you angry against me because I think that this is a user error.

    I think that you think that you can select an object on a layer and send it to the back and some how is behind a layer that is below the layer that lies in the object.

    It works that way.

    It will send it only in the back of the objects in the active layer also applies if you want to come forward, he will come only at the front of the objects in the active layer.

    I ask it is the error of the user and it works very well and there is no need to reinstall.

    Now obviously I can be wong on this subject if you wrote something that indicates that it is the case.

    If you understand how it works and that's another problem then you have a software conflict on your computer can be anything from a police, recent update, new application or public service or even some strange setting in another application.

    But the reason for which no answer is no one can figure out how to operate not so that they could not help. But I read your message several times and realized what I think the problem.
