Router ADSL line

Hello

I have a wireless router, the problem is that sometimes intermittently when ADSL is red instead of green and sometimes the ADSL and ADSL which are green light turn off and after ometime ignite again, in both cases where I don't get internet.

I can't sem to understand if this is a router or Windows XP SP2 problem?

Thank you

THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPONDED...

Start with your ISP.  It's probably a phone line problem, a problem to your ISP or a router problem.

But you should have installed XP sp3, a long time ago.

The following text is from an old post of MS MVP Shenan Stanley, but it is still topical advice

Suggestions:

(1) download the full installation of SP3 file or burn the ISO download to
CD.
(2) ensure (as is likely) you have no spyware/malware doing a full
Scan with SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes.
(3) CHKDSK
(4) defragment
(5) make sure that your drivers are up to date (from the material
respective web pages of the manufacturer).
(6) restart the right before you try to install SP3.
7) disconnect from the internet before installing (physically).
(8) disable your antivirus and software anti spyware applications when you are about
install SP3.

Some (if not all) which is covered in the links above.

Other than the "automatic updates" or the Windows Update web page - how can you
get SP3?

  • WAG160n measure of adsl line?

I recently bought a WAG160N adsl2 router to replace my ISP router.

It works like a charm, but the router provided by my ISP has a capacity to make a measure of the line. View upstream/downstream db noise margin. It's a great diagnostic tool.

Is it possible to do it on the WAG160N?

Not as detailed as other routers, but this page has a few stats of the line:

I've set up an adsl router 857 with CP Express (web interface) with a standard firewall and NAT configuration.

router seems to work very well apart from connections outbound pptp.

I can't use the MS VPN client to connect to our PPTP server in a remote location. I don't try to use VPN on the router 857, allow just to pass through of my laptop computer behind the router to an external vpn server.

Instantly, the client goes to "Check Userbane and password" then crashes on this during a minute or two before failing.

Now I would like to reconfigure to use as device wireless to connect with multiple external devices, but some how I'm not able to telnet or connect to its mode of administration. Even if I did your Setup before but some how I forgot his password (my bad).

Can you please help me, identify or access the configration mode is while I can attribute with external wireless devices?

    FaddyQazi

Well, in this case you need to reset the router. Make sure that the power led on the router should blink when you press and hold the reset button. Press and hold the reset button for 40 to 45 seconds, power cycle it and check.

For example, if you set the N for a contact and you want to call this person, press the N key for 3 or 4 seconds, and the unit made the call.

There are 3 letters that you cannot use in the speed dial. A, Q, W,.

With the A, you can lock the device

With the Q, you can change the machine vibrates only

With the W, you can call the voice mailbox.

  • HP2510 all-in-one does not connect reliable over my ADSL line when sending faxes.

It initiates the transmission, hear the answer tone (s), said his connection, but expires.  Sometimes it works and it used to work reliably.  I can pick up the phone and say his attempts to define the flow of data, but it rarely connects.  Any ideas?  And by the way, I am move to the connection of the FO U-verse in two weeks.

    Hello

The fundamental problem is that we not send sensitive data on the internet which is not when in time sensitive.

When the hissing analogue sounds translate into packets of data to the internet, they can not arrive and be decoded amount from time to time the fax is now.  When the fax speed is set to a lower setting, increase of time allowed for the other fax answer.

Here is a document that accompanies this step to change the transmission speed when SENDING a fax.  If you have any problems with reception, try to change speeds anyway, but you may need to ask the sender of the fax speed on the sent fax.

I have ADSL router Linksys X 3000, but I have a problem with it. I have it configured correctly (based on the manual of the internet service provider), repeatedly checked, but the router always said that ADSL line is down. As another modem (zyxel) works already then I agree that the adsl line works. After you have updated the firmware, you did another reset on the gateway and reconfigure the settings? If not yet, first try another reset and reconfiguration. If it always connects after the reconfiguration, so I think it's a hardware problem.

  • Basic router and PIX during installation of ADSL

I have a router with a WIC ADSL card 1751, a 506th PIX and a 24 port Catalyst 2950. The office is connected via ADSL with a public IP address. I also have a router ADSL 837 (but I don't think I'll need with the map of ADSL in the 1751). I need to set up a WAN connectivity, a static tunnel site to another and also allow access to the Cisco VPN client. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or examples of configurations for me initially on the right track with this. I wanted to also be the router or PIX hand addresses DHCP. In addition, I never configured (ADSL) ATM card into the router. I don't know if I need to assign the public IP address or this bridge for the PIX.

    Thank you very much

    Hello...

I presume that the firewall is connected to the inside interface of the router. the firewall's default gateway is the IP Address of the ISP router. right? Now, configure the DHCP protocol and other things as said in the previous post...

On the firewall, all traffic between inside and outside is open. so, you don't connect on an inside vpn server. Let us know if you need more information.

For site-to-site ipsec tunnel, refer to the following URL.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/Tech/tk583/TK372/technologies_configuration_example09186a00801c4445.shtml#configs

See the configurations on the PIX and replicate in your condition.

  • establish the GRE/IPSEC behind ADSL router

Hi all. This is my first post. I watch a lot to the internet so I can't find any help on this problem.

I would like to set up a VPN with ACCORD between 2 sites, but one of them is behind a router ADSL. This router redirects all external traffic to the external interface of the router.

The problem is that I don't know how to configure this router because only to see the crypto ipsec his you can see Start local crypto is 192.168.0.147

and the other router to assign this IP address to complete the second phase.

I hope that this has been explained clearly.

    Thank you very much experts!

The problem is so much simpler if your GRE and IPSec endpoint termination ends on the same interface without NAT.  However, things get a little tricky when you have NAT involved.  In this situation, the following the following configuration example:

  • To connect via PPPoE (dialer) Wireless ADSL

    Hello

I have a WAG200G Annex-A Wireless G modem router ADSL residential, I used as a wireless router. Now I've changed suppliers (Auntie Indicom - in India), and they have a 'new technology '. Basically, instead of giving me a DSL line in my house, now they directly give me an Ethernet cable in my house (they have a local DSL box somewhere on the roof with various Cisco switches for each household). Then, they want to connect via PPPoE by starting a Dialer on my computer, this particular Ethernet cable is connected.

Now, that works all very well, but we have more than one computer at home, and I would like to use Wifi instead of being connected at all times via the cable on my laptop.

    So now my question is:

Can I configure the Linksys router so that IT don't the PPPoE dial for me? Basically this means plug the Ethernet cable provided by my ISP in one of the ETHERNET Ports and set up allowing to switch on (since there is no cable "line" adsl connected more) with my user name and password.

Anyone know how to do this, or if this is possible?

    Thank you!

P.s.: I've set up the Internet connection sharing via ad-hoc wireless, which works very well, but is only a temporary solution because I don't want to use my laptop as a router...

It is not possible to configure WAG200G without ADSL line.

  • EA6200 care about my phone line when it is connected to the dsl line

Why the EA6200 router cause my phone line to busy out when I try to connect my ADSL line in the router? My Netgear is working with the same configuration. Do I need an extra modem? If the NetGear router is a modem/router and the Linksys is not?

    Thank you

Yes, I hope that you don't damage the EA6200 connect the telephone line. Probably not well.

  • Can I disable routing on E1000?

I have a linux machine connected to my ADSL line and use it to dhcp and firewalls. I bought the E1000 to replace a wireless router has failed I could disable routing on. I just need a way to join my wired and wireless networks and to use the Linux box for routing and port forwarding, etc. All I need the E1000 is to act as a wireless hub. Is this possible?

You don't need to set up an internet address. I don't know how you have configured the router initially, but if you have used the web interface, you don't have to set up an internet address. I don't think that the installer would work differently. Without static internet he would use DHCP on the internet port, which should be the default IP address and very good in your case.

  • wusb54gcv3 cannot find the router

My computer is unable to detect the router.  I have the router works on 2 different computer.  I inserted the card and the program provided wouldn't load.  Windows find a driver and installed the adapter.  However, it cannot detect the wireless network.  I just reinstalled XP on a new drive so there is no update. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your suggestion.  It is difficult to update anything online when you can not get the internet service because you do not find the router.

However I knew that the problem was with the fact that necessary XP service pack 2 downloaded so that the adapter to work.  Moved to my computer and connected to the direct ADSL line downloaded sp2 then the adapter while traveling.
