  I'm developing this formula in OBIEE using the power excel function.

  = ((1+11.9/100)^-0.25)*(Auth Total deles de intérêts + frais Total de Auth) ))

• Question of interaction of RPD OBIA and OBIEE

  Hello, experts.

  I'm looking for in - for the first time - work to implement an out of topic obiee and related reports previously delivered data models.

  My initial understanding is that the Data Warehouse Admin Console (DAC) works with Informatica to build and nurture the dimensionally modeled tables.

  I could find this documentation - which seems to meet the requirements for the data models and transformations.

  I guess out of box OBIA solution also includes pre-built obiee metadata repository areas and contents of the catalog.

  The doc fails to examine how the areas are created in the repository of obiee metadata and how the content of the catalog is loaded.

  If the documentation discuss the content of the RPD and catalog exists, I not using the right search terms to dig up.

  I am new to the preconfigured solutions OBIA and hope that there are people who might have useful references.

  Would you please help me understand how the dimensional tables compiled via the DAC and informatica are configured/referenced by the obiee metadata repository?

  Where is that pre-built content stored catalog that refers the repository field of metadata pre-built?

  The catalogue and the RPD is built during installation... You will get the complete set of modules - so you can cut on those that you are not allowed to use.

• The opening of the RPD MDS XML error

  I have a relatively simple SPR with a single Oracle data source considered. OBIEE version 11.1.1.9

  I followed best practices and star schema article to define the logical subject area: 8 dimensions and a fact table.

  dashboards and reports on OBIEE work well and no problems of RPD to date.

  Usage tracking is enabled and modeled.

  The problem

  I'm in the early stages of planning for automated deployment, but so far I can't properly re - open the RPD in the form of XML documents.

  Backup repository happily in XML format, but on open after several attempts, accepts the password but gives the following error:

  "nQSError 90028] XML Validation error to line number 5: data type error: Type: InvalidDatatypeValueException, ID of Message: 'mError' is not unique."

  
  

  Troubleshooting so far

  • Like a madman, google-> nothing (if this isn't common)
  • RPD light up to the basic set, same problem
  • Tried on another server with an export charges of an RPD offline (the most recent version of the same file). Same question. (so, not my machine)
    Tried with SampleApp DPR installation - error does not (not the application)
  • I opened all the MDS XML files exported in Notepad ++ and sought non-unique value. It is 250 hits around 9 files - all were the logical table XMLs. In each case the offending value is located in the < AttrDefn > element of a column of logic and resembles this example:

  You want to integrate with version control in the House and the script / automate patches rpds based environments onward.

  You can do this with comparerpd/patchrpd command line tools - on the binary RPD. You need not MDS XML. You can put the RPD in control source (and if you want to use XML MDS, keep a copy of it in the source code control too - but use it as your exclusive of the RPD representation)

  But - I think that what you say about is not so much simultaneous development, such as the automated environment implementation service/deployment. And as I said, this can be done with standard command line tools, no MDS needed XML (and I think that Stewart would agree with me on this...)

  Yes it is possible. No there is no impact whatsoever. You can have 50 different sources connected to any type of technology that is supported by the RPD.

  If you look at SampleApp you will see in this RPD only a ton of data types and distinct sources:

  As you say, I checked the side DB. I am using Toad. while I see the table & script data in abrowser schem, I get the error message like "access violation at address 01c688df in module toad.exe" on the opening of the browser (73231) editor or contours. to do this, I installed the new version of Toad .so I did nt get any errors at the level of the RPD. I get the number of rows updated successfully.

• Question of RPD OBIEE 12 c

  Gurus,

  My question is perhaps stupid please help.

  I installed OBIEE 12 c. I was able to connect to oracle and create a new RPD. When I try to open it in online mode its asking about a configuration of ODBC driver. I tried to set up the connection to the OBIEE server for the local host. It shows 4 instances OBI OBI SERVER 1 2 and 3. Which should I use and what is the purpose of having these in there?

  Do you have an example of RPD content as we get for 11g - sampleapp. If it doesn't there please help me find a way to connect to my system. If this isn't the case, please correct me. Thank you.

  You must create a new system DSN to connect to the RPD in online mode.

  1. go in ODBC data sources.

  2. create a new system DSN

  3. Add the server of Oracle's BI.

  4 specify the name and the Server (hostname), and then click Next (http://hostname:9502/analytics/saw.dll?bieehome).

  5. Please provide the connection information and the port 9514 (default).

  6. click on finish.

  You should now be able to connect the RPD in online mode. It will be useful.

  I have a table of facts with two day in my RPD a join of the dimension of time with the "Oto date" and I create an Alias of the Dimension of my time and I joined "Shipping date"

  In the "Model mapping and business" section, I created a logical table for my time Dimension.

  My questions are:

  + I need also create a logical table for my Alias in the section 'Business Model and mapping '?

  + In the "presentation" in need, two have two Date? Date of my "Odate order ' and a date for ' Sdate hipping"

  I have about a data warehouse contains data of students, in my table of facts, I a measure called number of all students, I also have another measure called sum of lack of student data that I have in my fact is: I all pupils and students who is absent I calculated the sum of the absence of the student in my ETL (ODI) , the other measure I want to calculate in my RPD.

  Add a COUNT DISTINCT aggregation on your id_student column and you get many students.

• Create a join between a column of type DATE and DATETIME RPD

  In my DR. I have a fact table with a DATE column, which also contains a component "hour". The physical layer shows this as a DATETIME column that to this DAY, I've changed since I'm only interested in the part of the date.

  When I join it an alias of my Date dimension, the generated sql physics is similar to:

  DIM_DATE. DATE = FACT_A.FINISH_DATE

  What I really want is:

  DIM_DATE. DATE = TRUNC (FACT_A.FINISH_DATE)

  
  

  How can I achieve this at the level of the RPD? Yes, I can add a new column to the table of DW with truncated value, but I want to know why even though I chose the DATE as the type of data to the RPD, the created join does not have a trunk.

  The physical layer shows this as a DATETIME column that to DATE, I have changed since I was only interested in the part of date.

  N ° bad idea. The physical layer of the RPD should show what the physical source. So if it isn't a DATE, don't pretend OBIEE is it. For the exact reason that you now - tap you are pregnant OBIEE to write some SQL magic to cast the data type, without even say things which is the original type. OBIEE will not interrogate the metadata in order to check the data types in the source, it will rely on what you tell it in the physical layer.

  You could use an inline view in the physical layer and make your trunc here I guess. Better, as you've already identified, is to store the date as a date if this is going to be a key column to reach.

  See above. OBIEE does not know it is a DATETIME value, then why would he do a TRUNK?

• modeling of the RPD

  I had a question about the modeling of the RPD.

  I had two facts F1, F2 and Dimensions D1, D2, D3

  F1 has joined D1, D2, D3

  F2 joined in the D1.

  So I did as in physical and logical layer joins and I kept F2 level Total of D2, D3.

  So far, it works very well with the measures and dimesions(F1,F2,D1,D2,D3). But my problem is that I have an attribute in F1. As soon as I put this attribute with F1, F2, D1, D2, D3 F1... F2 measurement will be void.

  I know a solution that I can make aliases of F1 and self join with F1 and bring this attribute... But who will create the additional join I want that... Is there an alternative?

  First of all you are not supposed to have an attribute in F1!

  Why? Because you set the level of content on F1 to have F1 values when using D2 and D3 (not the consistent dimension D1).

  If you don't think you need to do the same thing for the F1 F2-related attribute?

  The conclusion is that you've got: F1 does not have any attribute, because it is a fact table, it go out in a dimension and define the level of content.

  Create the additional join I want

  You don't have to pay for every single join, so there is no reason to "do not want" a join because this is how the tool works.

  OBIEE supports ODBC and JDBC - use one of your application. "tables" will display presentation folders.

• After schema UCR a fall the exisitng RPD will work or not... ?

  Hi Experts, I have installed OBIEE11g and created 2 SPR but some how I could "not be able to log-in to the presentation due to a communication error Socket Layer. So, I was to uninstall the OBIEE - 11g too abandoned the schema of the remote control. But even once if I re - install OBIEE - 11g of the existing RPD will work or not... ? Please suggest me is there all work around in this scenario...

  The RPD, we have BI APPS tables and tables using two pools of separate connections for custom data warehouse. What could be the effect negative applications of BI and custom tables under the same pool of connections? will it be difficult managers updated level or migration in the future? What is the best practice in such scenarios?

  Hi Vinay,

  About what I know, there is no problem to have your table looks in the same pool of connections. but please keep this in mind.

  1 BI Apps schema has a lot of tables and therefore share the same pool of connections, think on deadlock and data access problem when more people access reports

  2. There are a lot of physical design and MDB and there is a lot of material for BI applications

  So yes of course we will face no difficulty to move the object between environment.

  I better suggest to have the separate connection pool, physical schema, MDB file and subject as it's an easy way and convenient to work and migrate easily.

  Note: Currently I have BI Apps and custom RPD you merge and working on a connection for all new tables and reports.
