Run 'localconfig add' home of ASM or RDBMS House?

Hello

I'm preparing a new Oracle - Oracle 10 g 2 on RHEL 5.8 64-bit server. Here's what I've done so far.

  1. ASM install home
  2. ASM home to 10.2.0.5 patch group and apply 10.2.0.5.8 PSU
  3. RDBMS host installation
  4. Upgrade Home RDBMS for the 10.2.0.5 patch group and apply 10.2.0.5.8 PSU

Now, the next step is to configure the ASM using DBCA. Then I set ORACLE_HOME to point to the House ASM /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/ (DSO) and run "dbca. I select "Configure Automatic Storage Management" and press "next". DBCA then asks me to run the following script as "root":

  • /U01/app/Oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/bin/localconfig add

My question is why DBCA asks me to run the 'add a localconfig' House of RDBMS? Is this the right thing? Should it not ask me to run 'localconfig add' ASM home?

2nd question is: If all that advertising DBCA is correct, what happens if I run the House of ASM? Just curious to know the side effects for the sake of knowledge.

Could someone please clarify this me nicely?

Best regards

Hello

If there is no DBCA running, stop it.

OH, set to ASM_HOME.

Create a listener and configure the network HOME of the ASM, using NETCA.

Run localconfig from ASM_HOME.

Run DBCA of ASM_HOME and create the ASM Instance.

Just it.

  • 10205 RDBMS House with 10204 CRS

    Hi friends,

We have an obligation to upgrade the CRS and RDBMS and ASM House 10204 to 10205 on my server linux 3 knots. To this end, I'm not trying to upgrade existing homes 10204 directly. Instead, I am trying to install a new version of base:

    (1) install 10201 base for ASM and RDBMS House (on the same server where the 10204 crs asm RDBMS is there)
    (2) improve the base ASM 10201 and RDBMS to 10205 using the patches 8202632 group
    (3) upgrade of CRS later during the weekend.

My reason for this in this way is that I can save time during the window of real failure by upgrading just of CRS at that time. But when I get to the point of application of the Group of hotfixes 10205, in the Verification of the prerequisites section useful, I am getting following error:

    Oracle Clusterware Version check
The current version of oracleclusterware is not 10.2.0.5. Recommendation: you must upgrade all nodes to the Oracle Clusterware at 10205... You must pass all the nodes in the Oracle Clusterware at 10205 before proceeding with this installation.

What I've done is I've checked the verified user and proceeded to the installation and the upgrade to 10205. So my question would be:
    Is what I done correct?
It I just stopped installation and first run CRS updated and then do this upgrade?
It will cause problems more later as ASM or RDBMS home runs later when the CRS is actually upgraded to 10205?

I was checking this note "Oracle Clusterware - ASM - version of database compatibility (Doc ID 337737.1() .
'and 'version Oracle Grid Infrastructure/Clusterware (CRS) should be the latest version down to the 4th digit combination at any time. This means that you first put Grid Infrastructure/Clusterware. »

I agree with that, but I will not use the 10205 aSM and RDBMS homes until after the CRS improved 10205 weekend. This weekend all the houses will undergo 10205 only. Its only now the time to install it separately as I need to know if its ok to do it like that or if the problems in the future...

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

the installation program checks the CRS 10.2.0.5... This is for safety, not that you forget first put the clusterware and simply use a newer version.
The installation of the software itself doesn't change - it will install exactly the same thing, any CRS version you use.
So in your case, it should be absolutely okay (just make sure that you are not using anything out of the House, 10.2.0.5 before moving the clusterware;).

However I'm not Oracle support, so if you want to be 100% sure that I suggest you open a SR.

Just installed Oracle 10.2.0.1 on redhat 6 and then upgraded to level to 10.2.0.4 applying the hotfix p6810189. I want to configure ASM before creating the DB. I got an error below during the localconfig add as user root:

    Hello

Oracle 10 is not supported on RHEL 6. If you are out of luck.

  • HP G60 - 533CL: HP G60 - 533 CL laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade-compatible to Windows 10?

    Hello:

My parents have a notebook HP G60 - 533 CL running Windows 7 Home Premium OS.

Are you aware of the issues/incompatibilities with Windows 7 upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10 known?

Are there elements of Windows 7 which does not support the Windows 10 (e.g., audio, video) on this laptop?

They installed Office 2007 Home and student version.  It will work with Windows 10 yet?

I've heard talk about Lenovo ThinkPads crashing 10 Windows when the user tries to access its built-in webcam.

The webcam on the HP G60 - 533 CL did not work properly when the laptop is released, but about a year later, after an update of the driver had been released.

Are there drivers... for example, printer, screen, touchpad, etc..  ... which should be upgraded so that this laptop work with Windows 10 ?

    Thank you

    You properly the process.

Macrium Reflect has instructions on their website showing how to make backups and images.  You have to walk through those before trying anything.

It is pretty simple as you can, with the examples in front of you, walk someone through it over the phone.

    Good luck

  • I am running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (build) 2600 and have a lot of problems.

    Hi all

I am running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (build) 2600 and have loads and loads of problems. Windows keeps hung and everything I tried didn't seem to help.
I brought this second hand from a company computer, I used to work and I don't have the original installation cd or rescue disk. I meet a lot of problems and everything takes forever to load and work. I was advised to run maleware, spyware, antivirus and defrag on the computer analyses and I did all that and nothing works. Also, when I tried to run the system restore it wouldn't let me, and when I try to run the scan disk after a reboot it does not work. As a last effort, I tried running SFC and it looked as if it was working, but then it asked me for the initial startup disk, that I don't have. so I tried to cancel it, but now every time that I reboot/restart my computer load SFC and I have to start the entire process. Also, none of my cd drives work. Please help me
Also, I'm now a message that says minimum virtual memory is very low.
I would be very grateful for any help or advice anyone can offer us on these issues. a million thanks in advance.

    Hello

1 how long have you been faced with this problem?
    2. don't you make changes on the computer before this problem?
    3. what exactly happens when you try to run the scan disk or system restore? You receive an error message? If yes then after return the exact error message.

No software XP, Microsoft no longer offers that you will need to make arrangements for windows XP windows installation CD. You can check the question in the clean boot state.

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    1. click on start and then click Run.
    2. type msconfig and click OK.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    3. click on the tab general, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
    4. When prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.
