Run solitary sol.exe on windows8

I try to get sol.exe (XP solitaire game) to run on my new Win8 system.  I followed the same procedure I used when I moved from XP to Vista, put XP in the C:\ root directory and included sol.exe CARDS.dll module that was required.  It worked fine, no problems on Vista.
When I did this on Win8 it does not work 'Because CARDS.dll not found'.  After obtaining the online help, I moved then a copy of CARDS.dll in the C:\Windows\System32, where is all the other of the dll.  Confirmed that it is there and the same properties (size, date of the last mod etc.) than the one that worked on Vista.  But when I try to run the program, it won't work yet "because CARDS.dll not found".  I'm really just my feet wet here because I have a number of applications of XP I need to run on Win8 now.  That is my true purpose.  I thought that sol.exe would be an easy place to start, but it is not prove this way.
One thought I have is sol.exe must be "installed" whatever that means worldwide Win8, for the dll to be recognized.
Any help you can provide on this problem, or the biggest problem to move applications XP, which ran successfully on Vista for Win8 will be greatly appreciated.

Hi people!

This is the solution:

1 get the cards.dll and sol.exe to a Win XP machine.

2 copy the sol.exe anywhere (for expl: copy the sol.exe on your desktop)

3. copy the cards.dll in c:\Windows\System\ (on the windows machine 8)

It works!

    Hello

I have no idea what happened, but the solution is simple.
The message has already provided some information what to do to solve this problem.
You need to reinstall the webcam software.

First you need to remove/uninstall the old software webcam system

Then go to the page European driver Toshiba and download the webcam software:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

Then, unzip the and run the exe file. Complete the installation, restart the device and retest the cam.

I had not myself but a quick search suggests this may occur if VC ++ and Visual Studio is installed also, causing the SitesExplorer to load one different version of the C++ runtime other than that it provides. Event log Windows could give more details.

  • How do you know if you run a file exe or vi

    My research skills suck today.

I'm building an exe using the path of the application to find some files that must be included.  It works very well in the exe, but when the VI changes all paths are broken due to the path of the application.  But I remember a time someone has a way to tell if you were running the program as an exe file or a VI.  Then when the program starts, it can choose to use correct paths.

Any ideas on how to do this?  Or is there a better way to run the program as a VI and an exe without breaking the railways?

    Thank you

Remove a property of the class "Application" node, select Application-> kind.  The output is an enum of the vs Runtime vs student development vs Embedded... you get the idea.

  • opening running associated extension exe

My built LabVIEW application is associated with a specific file type in Windows:

    http://social.msdn.Microsoft.com/forums/vstudio/en-us/630ed1d9-73f1-4cc0-BC84-04f29cffc13b/what-REGI...

and opens double click on the file using the command line argument:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/passing-files-into-LabVIEW-VI-by-opening-the-file/m-p/138968/HIGHLIG...

This allows me to _launch_ my request, when the user double-clicks a file with the specified extension and process this file.

But it happens only if the application is not running.

What should I do if I want to open the double clicked when my program works?

Any system event happening that I can record and process?

The only way I see now is to build an intermediate application that will be associated with extension, check if the main application is running and pass arguments to it.

    Alexander_Sobolev

Well, there were many discussions on this subject, for example 1, 2, 3 , and in the early days, I tried a few ways of implementation of DDE in my applications. You may use the private property of LabVIEW which is called "OS Open Document" (needs SuperSecretPrivateSpecialStuff = true Labview.ini chain so that it is visible in the window configuration of events). More information is presented here and hereand it worked for me... I also find more elegantly and found this article. LabVIEW has already integrated server DDE and your application can receive WM_DDE_EXECUTE message using calls to the system API. So, I made an example of this receiver - it works if you have saved a file extension in Windows (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT branch in the registry) and is a double click of your file. This also works when you double-click a shortcut to your application and when you double-click your application exe, even if it is already running. It does not work if you have saved your file with key ddeexec extension (equivalent to open (%)) with command key 1 (equals "Path to your app\App.exe" '%1').)) But in this case, the "OS Open Document" private property works! And you can even use both methods or can choose one of them.

For the look of simplicity these registry keys. If you have saved *.ton file extension, you should have

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ton]
    @="ton_auto_file"

    and

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ton_auto_file\shell\open\command]
    @="\"C:\\Test\\Application.exe\" \"%1\""

the registry keys. In this case the method 1 will work. If you add this key

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ton_auto_file\shell\open\ddeexec]
    @="open(%1)"

then the method 1 does not work, but the method 2 ("OS Open Document") will work.

My test program is in attachment (LV 2011). It requires Windows Message Queue library (second link is for LV 2009 and greater) for the interception of DDE messages. You can integrate the message listener loop in parallel thread in your application and stop with the notifier or a similar mechanism.

  • Press any key to put an end to an exe BACKS run in system.exe VI

Hi I am running some old programs exe based BACK.  Two programs that run one after the other, loop and redo (variables are modified for each loop) the first exe program requires the user to "press any key" to put an end (close window CMD.  When I start my VI using the sub - VI system.exe to run DOS programs I have to "Press any key" to close the window and leave my VI to continue a loop.  Or if I use the option 'Until the end', I find myself with a bunch of Windows CMD to close at the end.  There must be a simple way to "simulate a key shot" Plan B is to train a monkey to sit in front of the key board...

check your computers sysytem information if you require a version 86(32 bit) x or x 64(64 bit) of the program and communicate with the editor.
Help... Ive waited a long time for this game... downloaded and now it does not work!

Do you have this of Direct2Drive?  Basically, the original Assassin's Creed v1.0 is compatible not 64-bit.  You need to have the v1.02 patch.  Available here.  Although I don't think you can install the hotfix without first installing the game.  If you need a more recent copy of the game.  If you buy it on Steam, it will not work.  But if you have the Direct2Drive version, you might have missed the system requirements specifying that you need a 32 bit OS to play.

  • Win XP: Lost menu of the Explorer bar. A running fix, XP_ToolbarFix.exe without result.

    Win XP SP 3

I had just done a messy uninstall a Pinnacle product.
And then I lost the menu bar off the coast of Solution Explorer.

Search pages in Support of MS, I found XP_ToolbarFix.exe.  This implementation does not restore my menus.

Can I get assistance messaging for free for this problem, as the MS fix did not work for me?

    Thank you.

If the system restore does not work then you have other problems with the system.

If you have your installation CD, I suggest that you run the checker system fle.

Go to Start - run and type:

    sfc/scannow

This command will launch immediately the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replace all the files with which it detects a problem.  You may be prompted to insert the installation CD.

  • problem running programs and .exe files

computer has been corrupted (by clicking on kids')-tried malwarebytes' anti-malware scan, when I rebooted, nothing works.  I tried microsoft security, but could not access the program.  I tried the system restore, but that no longer works.  If I try to download a program, do not automatically work .exe files and my computer asks me what kind of program to run it - nothing done!  I am missing shortcuts, applications, and system files.  I can't go to the Help Center to try a new date of system restore because application helpctr.exe is not found.  Any help?

It is likely that your .exe and other extensions have changed my virus/malware.

There is a simple fix as long as you can open regedit from the start > run box.

As long as you can then go (I hope I'm not breaking rules here - url not mine but very helpful)

    http://www.dougknox.com/XP/file_assoc.htm

Download the .reg and .exe association fixes. Use ' file > import ' option in regedit for each of the downloaded files. This should solve your problems. Best regards, Dave.

  • How to stop the computer to ask what program to use when you try to run a file ".exe"?

Whenever I select a program runs it prompts me to choose what program should I use to run the program.  He acts like he can not find the "ini" file which allows to go along with the program.  The "ini" file usually defines the settings for the program works.  It sets up the lanes for the necessary files can be found.  How my computer is, he cannot understand the program that wants to be run because the definitions are not defined.  What can I do to fix this broken configuration? • How and where can I download and run, lack tasklist.exe?

Try to find what causes my CPU to have high CPU utilization.

Someone said, I could check the CPU high usage by going

to RUN and type cmd, enter, and then type tasklist/SVC.

but I get an error saying, essentially, that there is no task list.

So, how can I get Tasklist on my computer?

Windows XP Home Edition does not include the Tasklist.exe utility, I can't understand why Microsoft excluded this utility of the Home Edition, but you can download a copy here: http://www.computerhope.com/download/winxp.htm put the utility in your Windows\System32 folder.

You can also use Process Explorer from SysInternals to obtain information on the execution of the process.

I have a question about some process running for all users in the Task Manager.  I noticed the following:
