Run VI GUI, don't wait for it

Hello. I'm using Labview 9.03f. I have a loop of events that deals with the interaction of the user. When the user selects a menu item, I want to run a VI that has its own UI, but I don't want to wait until she finishes execution (to be held until all of the interaction of the user). Basically, I want the new VI floating on top, but the user to always be able to interact with the main GUI.

I'm looking by using a reference of VI with the RunVI method, and wait until a parameter set to false. What is the right way to go on this subject?

Thank you!

psssttt...

Ref call will wait for the vi calng to return.

You can use the invoke node ctrl val.set method to pass data before starting.

  • wait for a function at the end

    Hello!

    I work with Flex and remote objects (Java Classes). The problem I have is: don't wait for the action for the return of a function script. I mean:

    value = loginRO.Login (idField.text, passwordField.text, message);

    If (value == 1) {}
    connectionState.text = "CONNECTED";
    messageState.text = message;
    }
    else {}
    connectionState.text = "NOT CONNECTED";
    mx.controls.Alert.show ("there was an error trying to connect","CONNECTION FAILED" ");
    messageState.text = message;
    }

    If the connection is successful you will get a '1' of the call and '0' in other cases. But the flex code still shows the "else" because it does not wait for the function "login" at the end of its execution. What should I do?

    Internet connections are always asychronous in Flex, so we can't have any other code expects a frequency.

    You should have the code or function that is executed/called in the your RemoteObject result handler.

  • Don't want to wait for the results of the query

    Hello world.

    I'm on CF 7 and SQL Server 2005.

    I call a procedure stored through my CF code. The process can potentially take an hour or two to run. I would like the proc run on SQL Server, but don't want my page of FC wait for the results before we continue, I want just the code that follows the proc will run while the database server do it is something silently in the background. Is it possible to do this?

    Thank you

    You could try to create a job that calls your long-term stored procedure. In the CF, call the sp_start_job system stored procedure to start your work. I think sp_start_job returns at the start of the task, not when the work is complete, but you will need to test this.

    Hello

    Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
    Windows, then closing, checks all open programs. If there is, it sends a request for the program to close and wait until the program closes safely, to avoid any loss of data. But, Windows is waiting for some specified
    If you are sure that none of the programs are obviously open, you can try the following steps:
    Press Windows key + r, Type regedit and pres enter. If UAC prompts, click Yes. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-> expand System-> expand CurrentControlSet-> click on command (exapnd no do this). When you click (or select) control, you can see WaitToKillServiceTimeout. Double-click it to change the value. Set the value to 500 or less than that. Click Ok, and then close the registry editor. Now, restart the PC. If the problem persists, stop and try again and check.
    Be careful with registry access as incorrect values or remove the unknown keys can prevent Windows to start and it will fix it.

  • Why don't I have to wait for downloads when you access "help"?  If I am mistaken, my DSL slows down my work.

    Why aren't the help files for items held locally on the computer?  It seems that I have to wait for a download, whenever I have access to the help system.  If they need, updated regularly, we will be updating at the same time - at my convenience?

    I have no idea on how to t-shoot, that. Should I do gss disable, remove this gss of the primary gssm and enable gss again in the secondary?

    Notice to lovers?

    Hello

    There seems to be a communication problem. You can do the following and see if the GSS is going to runmode = 5.

    On the standby: gss stop gss disable Then, go into the GUI of the GSSM and delete the standby GSS from the resources tab Then go to standby: gss enable gssm-standby x.x.x.x (IP of primary )

    Then in the GUI of primary GSSM, you will again see the standby in the resources tab. Click on it, and check on the activate button, then hit submit. Make sure the standby goes to runmode 5 under "gss status" output.

    If this doesn't work then you can try the below:

    Go to the GUI of the GSSM and delete the standby GSS from the resources tab. On the standby: gss stop restore-factory-defaults Make sure you have a console connection so you can do the initial config on the Standby GSS (add IP, etc). Once done, enter standby:

    gss enable gssm-standby x.x.x.x Then in the GUI of primary GSSM, you will again see the standby in the  resources tab.

    Click on it, and check on the activate button, then hit submit. Make sure the standby goes to runmode 5.

  • "waiting for encrypted google" does not allow me to open a Web site

    When I try to open lifenews.com, which I visited many times, there is a message saying left down "waiting for encrypted google." I don't even use google chrome? I don't know where to go to get rid of it, I don't want nothing blocked unless I specifically ask to be blocked. I did the research, said it's a blur, said another security settings to uncheck the ssl2 and ssl3. Nothing works. Can someone tell me please how to remove this thing waiting for encrypted google.

    You said blur, which is an add-on. Use the blur, or any extension of similar content filtering? If you think one of them might be the problem, you can test Firefox Safe mode. It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable extensions, hardware acceleration, and a few other advanced features of Firefox.

    Does not work if Firefox: Hold down the SHIFT key when you start Firefox.

    If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

    and OK reboot.

    Two scenarios: A small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not update).

    Any improvement?

  • "Waiting for in time (RT PXI target) real answer" error when the program is waiting interruptions

    Hello

    I developed an application to detect interruptions generated by an electronic card and act accordingly. The program was developed in labview, but she calls a dll; created with labwindows. The dll is scheduled to open the visa communication, select the events and install the interrupt handler and when an interruption is detected, it reads the value of the different registers of the map and returns to labview to view.

    The problem is that when the program expects an interruption, a prompt appears with the message "Waiting for real-time (RT PXI target) real answer" and the only option I have is to click on the button to disconnect the pxi or just wait. If I wait and I generate an interrupt, the prompt disappears and the application view data as it was planned.

    To wait for the following code the interruption has been programmed into the function:

    While (flag == 0)

    {

    Sleep (1000);

    }

    When an interruption occurs, the value of flag set to 1 and function continues without any problem. I am not really sure, but here is probably the problem and it probably isn't the best way to wait for a break because the sleep function suspends the thread to the configured time, but at least the load calculation in the PXI is between 0 and 1%. I was wondering if anyone knows how to wait for a break without 'lost' communication with PXI and if there is a better way to do it.

    Any response will be welcome and thank you for them,

    Jaime

    Hey there.

    You see problems with connectivity it's because the thread by DEFAULT CallLibrary nodes running in is the UI (UI) thread - UI thread manages also the important things like, say, communications (especially all the connections for the VI server) and other things that you could run all the time.  A CallLibraryNode is not, by default, intended to be used to execute code that runs for a long period of time.  If you want to do this, you assign the execution of the CallLibrary node to run in the context of a LabVIEW run-time engine thread (by selecting to make it work "in any thread") and not the UI thread.  This can be done through the properties of the CallLibraryNode.  By selecting "run in any thread" the call DLL will be generally in the context of the thread running in the run LabVIEW, which is usually what is meant when even.  The VI CallLibraryNode color change of Orange (UI) to blue (LabVIEW thread) so that you can quickly tell what context the appeal will be in.

    The reason the interface thread user is the default thread is because most often DLLS calls need to be serialized (because of functions is not not thread-safe) and so it serves to protect the integrity of the system.  However, if you know your threads are thread-safe, or you will use these threads for a while, it is best to program the CallLibraryNode to use a Thread of LabVIEW execution rather than the UI thread.

  • Status: Unexpected error has occurred. The timeout of waiting for an answer UVSC error internal

    Work with labview ARM and it was working fine this morning.  I went to run a program and the build failed with the following message.

    [13: 34:50] status: error
    An unexpected error has occurred.

    [Source: the timeout of waiting for an answer]

    Internal error UVSC

    Detail: [UVSC_PRJ_LOAD, MSG: 0x1000, STATUS:]
    [0x1] code: 1]

    Did normal things as restart the computer.  Plug and unplug the Board of Directors of the computer.

    I tried to reinstall the whole arm labview and it does not work.

    Even from labview so you go to tools > ARM > show keil does not work either.  I can open keil in itself, but it doesn't seem to be communicating with labview.

    Figured it out.  Somehow the projects I was working on has been corrupted somehow.  After another reinstalled, I opened a sample project, not one of the many that are mine, and it worked.  I had copy and past the code on the project and in a new, but it works.  Don't know how my projects I screwed up in the middle of work on them.

    Now, back to actually do the work.

  • Windows 7 Edition Home Premium or wait for Windows 8

    Hello

    My six year, Sony's all-in-one PC is running slower and slower despite the developed and needs to be replaced this year. My dilemma is whether to replace now, probably with a laptop with screen 17.3 inch under Windows 7 Home Premium or wait for Windows 8 released. To use PC home and I'm a relatively unsohisticated user. Any advice much appreciated.

    Before getting a new laptop or PC, check their website to see if they already Win8 pilots. If so and you want something that looks like XP, I'd go for scope Win7 in time Win8 once it is released. A lot of the manufacturer may offer a "anytime upgrade" of Win7 for Win8 with the purchase of their product. Dell and others who did when Win7 is out; you buy a PC with XP installed, and you could get the upgrade later for a reduced price (and in some cases, free).

    I tried Win8 consumer Preview and really don't care for her. I'm not an iPad or iPhone user (I use my cell phone as a phone, not a computer), so I'm not all that familiar with the concept of full tile to do things. Give me a Start Menu and I'm happy :-)

    Of course, these are just my opinions, and I don't know there are many others who will be either agree or disagree with me, and that's ok. Diversity is what keeps life interesting :-)

    Original title: Vista 32 bit system. slow!

    Office system Vista, have a delay in all functions. start-up, connection, IE internet, opening files. I seem to get a "waiting for..." at the bottom of the screen and a green line appearing across the top of the window when I'm waiting - whatever that means? Have upped the ram 4 GB - no change. runing ie7 to present, took 37sec to open the Web site to report this issue? All ideas, we will wait for you

    I was running another program to search for spyware, if you haven't done so already.  In addition, launch your AV software

    Did you ever reinstalled your OS from Vista running on your system?  If you have a Windows Vista OEM preinstalled on your system and you have an external hard drive, it wouldn't hurt to go back to factory settings and transfer your data on.  You would eliminate several possible culprits in your system running slow.

    Version of Vista-home.  If I'm connected wireless or wired, browsers stop working.  It works sometimes for hours before failure and other times, as soon as I switch on / log.  Internet connection information indicates everything is OK, but the little black clock on the status bar of the IE browser appear with the text "site found, waiting for response.  The only solution is to reboot - and you never know how long that will last either.

    One thing I've discovered recently: I started using FireFox... and it crashes saying simply 'arrested' on the status bar.  I can close Firefox, switch to IE and continue browsing for awhile until he gets the black clock and the site found, waiting for response.

    I have NO IDEA what section to post this in... the only thing I have not tweaked in my Vista system is the "running, stopped or other Services.
