  My laptop, Windows XP startup, an error message appears. RUNDLL error loading C:\Windows\ihukuqej.dll.  The module specific cound not be found.  I downloaded ParetoLogic PC Health, did a full scan on the registry and fixed all of them, rebooted and its still there.

  What is a rundll error?

  File rundll.exe are processes systems directly connected to your computer Windows registry. All of the Dll files are a part of the vast library that contains code and data that are shared by many programs. This allows to obtain the effectiveness of speed and memory of your operating system by reusing the same code or file to run many functions of various programs. An error occurs when the program are not allowed to access this code.

  Why do you Rundll errors?

  Windows uses rundll files to load programs, files, and applications. If the dll file is missing or damaged, any application using this file cannot be loaded. This will produce a rundll error. The reason why the file has disappeared is often related to a virus or spyware. This type of malware often tries to divert the files shared by the rundll file. Other sharing programs file then do not work effectively or to load any.

  STEP 1: IDENTIFY

  The first thing you need to do is to identify the process specific rundll. This isn't a difficult task; There is a library online extensive process in which you can assess the validity of the process that is running.   If this isn't the case, you should have started your own thread.  If so (and even if not), you should have responded to questions about Dell printers.

  Assuming that you complain of a "Error loading \3\DLBUtime.dll" message that appears when you start your computer, you should know that the DLBUtime.dll file probably has something to do with the software from Dell which has been partially deleted, but could also be indicative of malware as well as partially withdrawn.

  In both cases, the best way for start you to prevent the message at windows is to download Autoruns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

  Install the Autoruns and let it complete the scan of your computer.  Then click on the "Connection" tab and uncheck the following entry:

  Look for an entry that has 'DLBUCATS' in the first column.  If you do not see that, look for "rundll32 \3\dlbutime.dll" in the last column ("path of the Image).

  Uncheck that entry, close Autoruns and restart your computer.  You should get is no longer the message.

  If for any reason, you find later that you need dlbutime.dll running, run Autoruns and check the box. If you decide that you need never again, run Autoruns, right-click on the entry and select Delete.

  As General precautionary measure, in case your entry dlbutime.dll was related to malicious software, rather than the Dell printing software, download the following free scanners:

  You can also click file, search to search for logon, or any tab for all or part of the name of the element.
  Right-click on the offending entry and choose Remove.  If you are not sure what it is, you can just turn it off, restart and if the problem is resolved and things are functioning normally and everything works fine, then remove the offending entry.  If you don't see it in Autoruns, you may edit the registry and remove the item from your startup folder it.  Autoruns shall display the same information however.
  Given that your system has or has had an infection, follow up with this:
  Perform scans for malware, and then fix any problems:
  Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:

  SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
  They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
  Restart your computer and solve the outstanding issues.

• «RUNDLL error loading the C:\...» "at startup

  Start Up and as I get load of icons on the desktop: "RUNDLL error loading C:\Documents and Settings\Ralph\Local Settings\Application Data\compatCommsdlg\uniMainTask.dll the specified module is not found."

  I have XP SP3.  I understand that vaguely that a dll file has something to do with an application.  All programs loading and I seem to be able to use all the programs but I must first click 'OK' to the message acknowledgew to continue.  (1) what is the error?  (2) what program he claims? ((3) how do necessary file or, if not necessary, 4) how can I get rid of the error?

  Looking for errors like this by doing a search on Google for the name of the file.  Usually, they turn up without success.

  When a search in no hits or suspicious hits result, the answer is usually that the file in question is linked to the malicious software and your anti-malware application has deleted or quarantined file, but left to the Windows registry entry that tries to start the malicious software when you start your computer.

  In your case, there is no success for uniMainTask.dll, but the file name is not typical of the random letters used for malware, so it may indeed be a legitimate application-related.  However, you should treat it similarly.

  First of all, download, install, update and run full scans with two of these free analytical tools:

  MalwareBytes AntiMalware
  SUPERAntiSpyware

  Do not run the scans at the same time.  They can take some time, so start an and then go for a non computer chore for awhile.

  If the scans does not solve the problem (and they can't, because the actual malware file has already been processed), then download and run Autoruns.  Click on the "Connection" tab and look in the column 'Image path' for the dll named in your error message.  If it is not displayed in the connection tab, click the "all" tab and use the file > search tool.  A characteristic of the search of Autoruns tool is that you must move the selection under the element line "found" before you "Find Next."

  Once you find the line with the file in question, either "delete" or (if you want to be safer) uncheck the box.  The latter prevents the line running, but you can reactivate it later by removing the check mark.

  Look at the line Autoruns including uniMainTask.dll of clues about what application it can relate to. If it relates to a legitimate request, you may need to reinstall this application.
