RV082 with Actiontec DSL

Experts,

I read a few threads on how to configure the RV082 with a DSL modem.  I put the modem in 'Transparent bridge', have entered the Cisco RV082 PPPoE data, but cannot get an internet connection with the RV082.  I find myself the DSL at default reset and hand over the WAN on Auto connection on the router.  Y at - it a trick?  I have power drove the RV082 (felt as a stage in one of the threads that I've read), but which does not work either.  If I can't get the internet connection, then I can't go forward with the configuration and activate the vpn service that I need to put in place.  Someone at - it other advice?

Rustin,

You can call your ISP, because I'm not complete on the way to fill this device. You can use GOOGLE and search for your model number of modems and what you're trying to accomplish before calling your service provider. Usually a lot of blogs out there with clients who are trying to accomplish the same thing.

According to the model of modem, it can only support bridge Transparent mode, while leaving the modem to do authentication for the service provider and defining our router (static IP) putting in an address public ip, subnet mask, gateway, dns provided by ISP servers.

I plug my PC directly to the modem and call the ISP and tell them you need a public ip address on this pc. Many times ISP tell that cannot support a configuration when there is another router, well that's why we plug your pc directly. Once you have a public ip address on your PC. Simply copy this information into our router, and you should running.

Thank you

  • PIX 501 with Actiontec Q1000 in Bridge mode

I have an Actiontec Q1000 Qwest racetrack with 8 static IP addresses.  I want to put the Actiontec in bridge mode and connect the PIX.  I have configured the PIX as follows, but there are some things that are unclear to me:

    IP address outside pppoe setroute

VPDN group chi request dialout pppoe

    VPDN group chi localname xxxxx

VPDN group chi ppp authentication pap

    VPDN username password xxxxx xxxxx

Qwest gave me a block of 8 IP, and they either of them specified as a gateway address.

This IP will get the external interface?

Can I use setroute with Qwest, or I need to specify a default route instead?

Can I assign the gateway address to the external interface of the PIX?

My ultimate goal is to be able to configure the PIX to allow client software Cisco VPN incoming connections.

Thank you very much for all your comments.

P.S. I can't just try, because I am in California and I need to set it up and send it to Utah, where I there will have access via SSH.

The ip address will be given by provide it during the negotiation of PPPoE.

You should be able to use the road together, I would expect Qwest provide the default route in PPPoE.

I should get it by the ISP automatically.

  • RV082 with QuickVPN can connect to the Windows Server but not on Ubuntu Server

We have a RV082 and are capable of using QuickVPN to connect and access our work LAN (192.168.0.0) except that we can not connect to a Linux Ubuntu Server on the local network.  Can ping (and shared access) servers Novell, a Windows 2003 server and several printers but not the linux server.

    192.168.0.1 Novell server can ping

192.168.0.2 Server Linux ping or you connect

192.168.0.3 Windows 2003 server can ping and connect

192.168.0.4 - 11 different printers that I can ping and install

I can ping and connect to the server using PPTP-Linux

Troubleshooting tips will be greatly appreciated

    Good afternoon

Review of your question, it would seem at first glance that the Ubuntu Server may be blocking incoming VPN traffic. I'm not sure of what firewall program you have chosen to use with your server Ubuntu, but make sure the ports 500, 4500, 443 and 60443 are open to traffic entering this subnet. If you can detect all the errors showing blocked traffic trying to hit the server, which can be useful in allowing us to determine why this traffic does not go through.

    Thank you

  • can not connect to internet with Quest DSL. Quest DSL support said that the NETWORK adapter is missing

Original title: can not connect to the internet on a desktop computer Windows XP Prof

I try to use your older desktop with Windows XP Prof  I use Quest with an ADSL connection and that you have a wireless connection to a laptop.  The office is not wireless. I connected the cable earthnet and quest tell me that I don't have "NIC" on my device manager.  Anyone know how I can receive and install on a computer without internet connection?  Thank you

L E K, I'm sorry, but I don't know the answers to the other questions. After you enable the NIC, can you check your service manual for an explanation of the other choices? Maybe someone else can answer these questions. Liz.

  • BEFSR41 v.3 works do not with my DSL

    Hi all!

Here's my problem: I have a CenturyLink DSL connection in my house and his works fine. I just got a new Linksys BEFSR41 v.3. I'm setting up for my PC, Xbox360 and BD player. Everything works fine when I plug them into the DSL modem 1 by 1 but when I try to put the Linksys 'in the middle'... nothing... So I'm sure that this isn't my DSL modem or connection.

All the lights lights Linksys as they should (power supply, ethernet and the internet), but for some reason any, it seems not to get trought the internet router. When its connected and I pull up my internet browser I type 192.168.1.1 and it takes me on the linksys config site. Without the router at the same address, go to the Westell website because it is my DSL modem. Everything looks good on the site config. All the IP address, MAC, DNS address are there and still no internet access on any of my camera.

I tried every possible settings I can find on the net.

Thank you and sorry for my bad English

    Solved thanks

In the Linksys config page, I changed the IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 and everything works fine now

    Thanks again

  • VPN site-to-site with 2 dsl lines

Hi, I work vpn site-to-site between 3 places, now I want to add an additional line (dsl) in 2 sites for balancing of traffic or use lines only for the purposes of web, ho can I achieve that?

my layout of the target network will look like the image below:

    http://ImageShack.us/photo/my-images/688/Wang.PNG/

Here is the file created in PT 5.3.3.0019

    http://www.2shared.com/file/jQh7eN0W/VPNs.html

    I'm happy to help you.

If you want to use 2 DSL for Internet only, add you a default route pointing to the following DSL 2 break and add a static route for 80.0.0.1/32 and pointing to the next hop 192.168.10.0/24 1 DSL, so that traffic will be sent to the LAN 1 interface where the card encryption is, other traffic will be sent to the line ADSL 2.

    Please let me know.

    Thank you.

    Hi Aditya,

    Hope this information helps you.
  • WVC80N / ActionTec GT701 DSL Modem and Linksys BEFW11S4 router no Web only Access with TZO

OK, so I know the router is a little older but the CD Setup Wizard did his thing, I the TZO confirm email acount and I can access the camera on the spot.  Needless to say that I can't access via the internet or I wouldn't be here.   When I check the router it's all parameters as it should and I guess I should do something for the modem, but what?

So if you do not connect to the internet with a DSL or cable modem, how you?  I guess the Setup Assistant would be see the modem and suggest modifications if necessary.

I need help, otherwise this puppy will come back... THANKS in advance!

I made the transition into the modem as you suggest.  Bingo it works! Thanks for the help. My new router will be here Monday (tomorrow) a Linksys of course, thank you Amazon to have it in stock.

BTW if someone will do the transparent bridging, I just did a few screenshots printed to make sure that I could go back if he's screwed.  It also helps to have your DSL username and password handy.

  • Problem with access to the camera on the net via dsl modem and linksys router

OK, I read all posts here on what to do in this case and think I have tried everything. I have an Actiontec dsl (verizon) and a v2 wrt110 router. I can see the camera locally, but not on the net. I had it hooked to another place but with cable service broadband with no problems.

I think that the problem of my lie with ip addresses.

    Camera 192.168.0.115

    Router 192.168.0.1

    Modem 192.168.1.1

The port forwards on the modem MUST be set to port forward to the IP Address of the Linksys router. It should be only the modem IP can see, so it's the only place you can move forward from the modem. What exactly is in this drop-down list in the config of the modem port forwarding?

The problem is that there are two distinct here networks once you are inside your modem. There is a network between the modem and the router. Allthat is on it is the modem's ethernet interface and the port of the Internet router (or WAN). There is another network on the side the router as your PC's LAN, camera, etc. are on. All know the modem is how to get to the network to which it is directly connected to. While you could add a route staic on the modem to tell him how to get to this network, the modem must still know I have oprt route traffic to your camera to the router.

  • Had issue with DSL service, now have only a single tab with favicon for this tab.

After a storm, I had a problem with my DSL U-Verse. I lost access and received a message it may be due to a problem with the filters on my phone, fax or satellite. I unplugged all the elements that have filters. I was then able to click on a link that AT & T had sent the message and I got an answer, I previously could not answer because I had no connection. I got the pack for pages on all my tabs by pressing the arrow to the left on each of them. I now have a single tab with favicon for this WEB site for that tab, the others all have the AT & T globe. I tried refreshing and also open a new tab and then go to any sites.
This problem is on another PC than the one I'm on now. It has the version 21 and is Window 7 Home Premium. I pasted the info from this PC troubleshooting.

I restarted Firefox, and returned the favicons. Thank you.

  • Issue with Vista wireless

Computing:   I have a Dell XPS 420 Desktop Computer with wireless capability with a Broadcom 802.11 network adapter g. operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit with Service Pack 1

History: I had my computer since December 2007 and used to access wireless internet with Bellsouth DSL and a Linksys router, and then for the past year, I got paired with a Linksys WRT150N router comcast. I have had no problems to connect to the internet until Verizon Fios has been installed on the Sunday, August 30, 2009.
That said, I tried with a Dell laptop in windows XP and it is connected. I also tried with a mini computer dell laptop running XP and it is also connected. Yet once again, I say that all three of these computers connected to the internet using Linksys and two different ISPS, it was with the switch to verizon that it has lost its ability to connect.

Verizon has installed a router wireless Actiontec MI424WR Rev E.
Firmware version: 20.9.0 (this is the most to date version)

I can't connect my Dell XPS 420 desktop using a wired LAN connection to the router and establish an internet connection. I'm not able to establish a wireless internet connection. When I try to go wireless, it is said:
Public Network - unidentified network - Local access only.

What I've tried so far based on reading previous forums discussing this issue.

    1. completely uninstalled Norton 360, including using the Norton removal tool and by calling the customer service of Norton who has accessed the computer and verified the complete removal.

2 turned off the windows firewall.

3 make sure the Broadcom network adapter driver has been the most up to date.

    4. people with disabilities and reinstalled the card network Broadcom.

5 update Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and all other updates installed today.

6 call Verizon Online support - they reset the modem and tried several things like change the "channel". Nothing has worked. They said to contact the computer manufacturer. They have pointed the finger to be a problem with Vista from the computers Windows XP work.

    7. called Dell: they tried several things with access to remote and says that it is the problem of the router/ISP.

    8. unplug the router several times, waited 5 minutes and plugged in. Has made several rounds of power on the computer as well.

    9. changing a registry key according to Microsoft technical support to disable the DHCP Broadcast flag in windows vista (I'm not entirely sure I did correct it because I didn't know what was the GUID) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233

10 disabling IPv6 (by unchecking it)

11 disabling IPv4 (by unchecking it)

12 Ran IPConfig to confirm I have a valid IP address (starts with 192 and is valid I don't know if I should post the full address)

13 fact MSCONFIG with reset winsock

14 changed the settings TCP/IP by netsh int ip reset at the command prompt, and out, and then uupon done restart ncpa.cpl in the start menu and unchecked the tcp/ip v6 Protocol restarted the computer.

    15. don't attempt to ping a website - no Exchange packets, error message cannot find the Web site. I tried www.google.com and www.verizon.com

I am at a loss of what I can do to get my computer back operational wireless. Due to the entire office to the top of our House, I would really like this computer on another level and the only way to accomplish that without drilling the holes through the walls that it it works wireless.

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

UPDATE:   I rented the "Geek Squad" to come look at my system. The poor guy spent 3 hours going through all stages. Finally a last ditch effort he has installed a new NIC card. Bingo that fixed for some reason any. Apparently, the old NIC card was bad, even if the system was saying that it was good. The old NIC card was allowing him to connect to the router but no internet. He said it was weird, but the problem is SOLVED!

  • Windstream says interferes with ADSL modem router

I signed up with windstream DSL internet service yesterday. I have a netgear wnr1000 n150 router and a flow stream 4200 dsl modem. Everything was fine until an hour ago. Service was very slow. Then tried to get on Netflix on my tv and it does not load. Checked my network status and he said connected to the router but not the Internet. Tried unplugging everything, wait and then plug upwards. Connect briefly, then lose the connection. Called Windstream. She says that my IP address is in the red. A unplug the router to the modem. She then said IP address went to green so my router is interfering with my modem. She said call netgear. Unable to call because I have a subscription. Is anyone familiar with this problem?

Then your Speedstream works as a router. You can choose one of the two options I provided in my first answer.

  • There is a conflict of IP address with another system...

I've read all the articles in this section but have not found a solution.

I get this on a wireless network. Using a Linksys router with DHCP dynamic (192.168.1.1) and a Linksys (192.168.1.240) amplifier. The message appears in a Xp workstation but does not appear on the single another workstation connected to the network, which is a laptop running Vista.

I believe that the cause of the problem is the fact that both of these workstations was attached to a DSL line of Earth with a DSL modem with IP 192.168.1.1. What the modem and equipment has disappeared. Now we are with the satellite exceeds network wireless.

Here's what to try to get rid of this message on a XP system, I took:

Played followed enough of ipconfig ipconfig / renew. That did not work.

Authorized the ARP table on the XP and Vista workstations.

Disabled the Ethernet port that is not used on the XP workstation. (a wireless card)

    Restarted after all this.

I don't know if this message is coming from or why. There is no static IP encoded on one of two workstations. Two workstations don't know the 192.168.1.1 IP address because it is the gateway to the wireless network, so they must be aware of this.

Where do you think I should look next. I am convinced that there is no hardcoded on the network IP address. The router is in DHCP and no workstation has the same IP address. Or the amplifier. Or the router. All unique. It's frustrating.

It's very strange.  The IP addresses list you all the natural look and are not in conflict.  I have never heard of a situation where a network card "remembers" the IP address - unless it has been configured to have a static IP address.

If your satellite modem is connected to the WAN port on the WRT54GS, his IP address shouldn't matter.  NAT router separates what is side WAN which is on the LAN side (i.e. your computers).

Just for the heck of it, however, on the 'Base state' page of the configuration utility of the router, which is "Internet Connection Type" on?

You said that the XP workstation had an IP 192.168.1.101 - is that the wireless adapter or Ethernet adapter?  If this is the wireless card, it's with the Ethernet adapter in or out of the computer?  Or if it's the Ethernet card, it is with the wireless adapter inside or outside?

When the error occurs, you can connect to the router (and the Internet) by connecting an Ethernet cable to the router?  I'll assume that you can't.

    Follow these steps:

    • Deliver Ethernet services and adapters wireless into the computer and restart the computer.
    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • In the black command prompt window, type the following command, and press ENTER after each line

    ipconfig/all > "% userprofile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt".

    output

    • Copy the file ipinfo.txt to your desktop on a USB flash drive
    • Eject the flash disk, take it to your Vista computer, connect it and open ipinfo.txt in Notepad
    • In the opened Notepad window, click Edit > select all (or press CTRL + A) and then click Edit > copy (or press Ctrl + C)
    • In the body of your response here, right-click > paste (or press CTRL + V) the data of the Notepad window
    • Close Notepad and remove ipinfo.txt from your desktop

You have said that you put westell in Bridge mode and configured the linksys for PPPoE, but also enter AT & T DSL username and password? The manual mtu value and change the 1500 to 1492?

Call AT & T and ask them your DSL username and password. Then enter that on the linksys. Then change the Mtu value and power cycle everything and then you're done.
