RV180 a drop connections about every 10 minutes

I have a cisco rv180 connected to a cisco cable modem and a service of Cox.

The symptoms of the problem are that all the 10 minutes or so external connections will hang.  This takes perhaps 20 to 60 seconds.  If you load a Web site when this happens, different parts of it not to load and firefox will sit and spin indefinitely (it seems) until you stop loading and click on the button reload manually.

When that happens I can always connect to the Web server of routers and dashboard that refreshes automatically every 10 seconds.  It seems perfectly fine.  My initial theory was that something was broken at the end of things, but after swapping Cox RV180 with an old router on-q that we had laying around, we have not seen problems.

Other differences I noticed between the on-q and the rv180:

* with the traceroute for external guests rv180 lagging large (500-600 ms) to the hop right after the router.  With the on-q, it is 12ms.

* When I ping the ip of that jump with great delay, with the on-q, I don't get any answers.  With the rv180 that I would get these host redirect strange messages that make it look like that ip redirects to itself.  There will be 1 or 2 of those redirect responses, followed by 3 or 4 errors, and each packet is numbered as an error in the summary of ping.

Anyone have any ideas of what to try to debug further this problem?

Thank you.

Aaron,

Go to firewall-> attack check and uncheck all the options. If that helps start checking things and see if any of the options causes the problem. You must also test MTU:

http://www6.nohold.NET/Cisco2/UKP.aspx?pid=80&VW=1&articleid=386

You may need to change the MTU on the WAN port to something else than 1500 (default)

I have a RV180W connected to a DCP3010 on Charter cable and it works PERFECTLY. I replaced my old modem, Docsis 2.0, which was having some problems.

Keep us updated.

  • PC warns me that iCloud storage is almost full every few minutes

Hi all, I have a Dell Inspiron 10 Windows I use now because my Mac came out for running repairs. I installed iCloud on it, and now I get a notification in my system tray about every 5 minutes telling me that my iCloud storage is almost full. It's really annoying - the notification makes a hanging sound and forces me to close them myself. You can disable notifications for iCloud:

Click on iCloud and you will have options to completely turn off the notifications, disable 'See the notification banners' or turn off the notification sound

  • Satellite 1905-S303 - fan turns on every 2 minutes

Hey guys, thanks for your help in advance.

I just noticed that my laptop fan lights quite often.

    I have a Satellite 1905-S303.

How many times you ask? -The fan runs about every 2 minutes, and then it stays on for about 1 minute. (So the cycle takes about 3 minutes). Things continue to go all the time, even if the computer does nothing.

Other than that, the seams fine computer. The computer does NOT turn off overheating.

    Is this normal?

I just noticed this and can't remember if it has always done this. (Although I don't think)

PS - I tried dusting the gills of the computer with compressed air, but nothing has changed.

Other than that, the seams of the computer to function very well.

    Thank you guys!

    > I just noticed that my laptop fan lights quite often.
I don t think it would be a bad thing
The point is that the fan lead on if a certain level of temperature has been reached.
    This is nothing unusual.

I have the same problem, but I can control my Toshiba Power Saver cooling modules so I can set the parameters of battery optimized in order to reduce the speed of the fan.

Maybe you could do that too.

  • Wireless network connection drops every few minutes after windows update.

    Original title: dropped internet connection

I had trouble with my laptop give up wireless connection.  Received a patcha and everything was fine until the last windows update auto.  Same problem again.  I have to constantly reset the wifi.  I run a diagnosis and I get the message that the wireless adapter has been corrected, but it won't always stay connected.  VERY frustrating.

    Hi Ccolvin3,

Windows can be disable your network adapter to save power. Disable the power saving option in the network adapter properties. To do this, try the following steps.

    a. Click Start, type devmgmt.msc and press to enter.
    b. in the list of objects, expand network adapters.
    c. double-click the sub element that means wireless network cards.
    d. click the power management tab.
    e. uncheck all options on the power management tab.
    f. apply the settings, and then restart the computer to check the difference.

We recommend that you also download and install the latest driver for the card from the device manufacturer's Web site or system wireless.

Download and install the latest service pack on the computer. See this article for more information:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935222

  • Connection Internet drops several times every 5 to 15 minutes

Connection Internet drops several times every 5 to 15 minutes.  It is an old ASUS week ultrabook computer that is running Windows 7 Home Premiuim.  The problem is not the network as 4 other wireless computers work properly. Also, same problem is observed on the other two networks.  Only change in the computer as he received is the addition of Kapersky anti-virus and Microsoft Office 2003.  Problem seems to be with Windows 7.  The yellow triangle of death appears on connection bars when the problem occurs.  Disconnect and reconnect the Internet solves the problem for another 5 to 15 minutes.

It seems to me that it is a possible driver with the card built into your new laptop wireless. You can consider using Device Manager to check to see if there are problems reported with the wireless adapter. Also, I suggest that you visit the manufacturer of the laptop and get the latest available wireless drivers for that brand and model.

You could also have a hunt in the event log and see if there is any additional details that might shed some light as to why the wireless network has decreased. That his fall is one thing, but the log events might suggest a few reasons for this.

Client side, have you tested wired vs wireless to see if the problem exists in both?  If it's the only one, but not the other, try to update the drivers.  Also, if it's windows 7, take a look at the power settings in the control panel.  I saw where the aggressive powers will be stop standby network port.  Not that big of a deal in a LAN environment but it wreaks havoc on the VPN.

  • HTTPS connection systematically disconnected every 2 minutes via VPN in Windows 8

    * Original title: VPN via https issues - win 8

My wife works from home to connect to a vpn over an https connection and then connect to another piece of software based on the web through an https connection.

It worked well until Christmas 2013 when she bought a new laptop with windows 8, upgrading to a connection high speed fiber (with the same Internet service provider) and had a new router.

Since then it can connect to the vpn but once connected to everything that she's trying to connect an https connection systematically disconnected every 2 minutes.

The vpn is connected, and also other programs outside the vpn as Skype and lync stay connected.

His employer has built a new version of the web-based software as there was a problem with this and windows 8, but this has not solved the problem although it resolved all the problems of connection to his colleagues.

Currently, she is able to connect via a desktop remotely to his employer (instead of the vpn) and then connect to the additional software via https.

2 weeks ago she took his laptop in a House of colleagues and connected no problems whatsoever and maintained the connection.

She informed her employer of which, after 3 months of development new software and maintenance to a remote office installation just for her, said now it must be a problem with the Internet service provider.

PSI (EE) performed many tests and say there is no problem with the line and or they block certain ports etc.

Today, she attempted to connect using a laptop with windows 7 (according to her an old) and had no problem that seems to rule out a problem of ISP or router problems.

There seems to be a problem with windows 8 (regardless of Web browser - the same problem is present with ie, chrome or firefox), but only among us — even if I want to confirm that in trying a few more locations with different providers of Internet services, and that even in a different place)

Anyway, after all this language of wood can anyone offer suggestions of what the problem may be or any what more ways to collect the information required to provide a solution.

    Thank you

  • Windows 8.1 Flash CC 2014 not sensitive for about 30 seconds every 10 minutes or more... Try the trial version for 30 days.

I'm trialing CC 2014 to open some files of a facilitator. It crashes all the time for between 10 to 60 seconds. It captures very well once he wakes up to the top, but it happens very regularly and does not seem to relate to a specific activity.

Meanwhile, it is marked in the Task Manager (not permitted) it doesn't take a huge amount of CPU or disk read/write in this. It happens that I have the network or not connected.

It's the only thing on my laptop that does this. I installed CS4 and it doesn't have this problem.

My phone has 16 GB of ram, quad core i7 and solid state of good size with more than 100 GB of free space that can do 550MBps.

Everyone knows these issues? It is unusable, but it gives me a lot of tea breaks so I guess that's something.

I know someone who seems to have similar problems on Flash CS6.

    Thank you

    Mike

    Hi Mike,.

This may be due to the creation of the automatic recovery in the background file. Please note that ASR is enabled by default in the Application preferences and it is configured to create the file recovery every 10 minutes.

You can disable it by going to Edit > Preferences > General and unchecking the AutoRecover check box, or you can increase the frequency of automatic recovery in order to avoid the frequent shutdowns.

    Thank you!

    Mohan
