RV180W ping hostname between VLAN & different subnets

I had a RV180w with 1.0.3.10 closes. According to the name of position, I'm not able to resolve host names between different VLANS which affected to different subnets, for example, allows said I have the following hosts:

CASA:

192.168.241.100/25 (wired - VLAN 1)

Router: 192.168.241.1

DNS: 192.168.241.1

XBMC: 192.168.242.100/25 (Wi - FI - VLAN 2)

Router: 192.168.242.1

DNS: 192.168.242.1

If I try to ping from two sources to one of the two destinations, the only one I get is a message 'impossible '.

Authorized additional information routing between vlans & proxy DNS and if I try to look at the hostname under the 'nslookup' command, I could not resolve the host name, but if I do a "ping - a 192.168.241.100 ' it is said ' response from CASA (192.168.241.100) blah blah blah."

So what I'm missing here?

Hi Bruno, you can usually solve different subnet host name because the host does not know the subnet that treats it as a security measure.

Disable the firewall feature on your computers and which must fix, otherwise you will probably have to change the lmhost files.

  • Mac OS 10.8 VM cannot reach subnet VLANS / different from the host with Fusion 5

    I have a server of Mac Mini significantly improved, high-top of the range, operating behind a firewall, Zyxel USG.  As the host, the Mac Mini runs a server OS X 10.8 virtualized with VMware Fusion 5 (mainly as an e-mail server).  To avoid opening the ports directly to the host-MacMini and LAN1 to better customize security and settings area, I want to put the virtual machine on VLAN1.

    However, no package VLAN is pass to the virtual machine.  I tried two configurations:

    Home > VLAN1 in Network preferences > VMware Fusion set to network via VLAN1 bridge > comments "Ethernet" connects effectively to the VLAN1

    Home > (LAN1) Ethernet in Network preferences > set VMware Fusion to bridge network through LAN1 > comments > add VLAN1 to guest network preferences

    In both situations, * zero packets * make out of the VM/comments on VLAN1.

    My suspicion is that VMware Fusion 5 does not support packages VLAN marked.

    Advice/suggestions for how to get the virtual machine to join VLAN1 or really, just a different subnet?  Are there drivers tagging VLAN for VMware Fusion 5?

    The FIXED - partially, at least.

    It had to do with the package being truncated by VMware.  After I have configured VLAN1 on the host, and then in the hardware parameters, chose 'Jumbo Packet Size'.  Then I jumpered the VM via connection host VLAN1.  ALTO!  This works.

    However, trying to connect to the virtual machine as a direct customer of VLAN1 is always unsuccessful. The virtual machine which truncates the packets when it sends them between the host and the guest (and vice versa).  However, if tagging VLAN is the host to level (as I have it configured), then the virtual machine can communicate successfully on the VIRTUAL LAN.

  • vMotion between hosts on different subnets

    Before you start, I'm a network engineer, not a server guru, please bare with me

    Is it possible to vMotion a virtual machine to a host on an IP network to another host, on a different IP network?

    Example:

    Data Center 1 - 10.1.1.1/24 with VM in the 10.1.2.0/24 ESX Server

    Same city, different site, binding fiber 10 GB between facilities 2ms latency

    Data Center 2 - 10.2.1.1/24 in the 10.2.2.0/24 with VM ESX Server

    Scenario:

    vMotion a computer virtual network 10.1.2.0/24 to the 10.2.2.0/24 network where virtual machine, on arrival on the ESX 2 data center server, now uses a IP address of 10.2.2.0/24.

    Any guidance towards a white paper or a guide would be greatly appreciated.

    vMotion is possible between hosts on different subnets, but unless your discussions presented to the virtual machines are on the same subnet, you will eventually drop the virtual machine on a VLAN different and IP addressing will fail.

    There are ways around this, you could script the change of IP address / present several IP addresses of the virtual machine / or reservations DHCP to use, but you will need to ensure DNS etc. records are updated.

    If you have some kind of load balancer, you could in theory balance workloads on 2 IPs hosted on the same VM, to solve the network ip address issues, although in the end, you'll want a VLAN tended to port VM coverage groups.

    I'm under ESXi 4.1. I have two hosts. Currently, the management network of my hosts are on the 192.168.5.x subnet and this subnet exists in its own VIRTUAL LAN. My vMotion Setup is also included in this subnet and VLAN. What I want to do is move my vMotion for a different subnet configuration and VLAN.

    How would I go to do this? Every time I change the IP address of the vSwitch vMotion, I lose connectivity him given that I should change the gateway by default as well. When I update the default gateway, the default gateway of the management gateway is updated as well. I have to have management and vMotion on the same subnet network?

    As long as the vmkernel ports used for vmotion are on the same subenet there is no need to configure a gateway on that subnet as the traffic will never leave the subnet-

    Hi All-

    I'm trying to understand how to configure our ASA so that remote users can have VPN access to two different subnets (Office LAN and LAN phone).  Currently I have 3 VLAN configuration - VLAN 1 (inside), VLAN 2 (outside), VLAN 13 (phone LAN).  Essentially, remote users must be able to access their PC (192.168.1.0/24) and also have access to the office phone system (192.168.254.0/24).  Is it still possible?  Here are the configurations on our ASA,

    Loss of connectivity to the LAN is not really supposed all remove this command UNLESS your network is using another device as their gateway to the Internet. In this case configuration dynamic PAT or political dynamics PAT (as you) would make sense because the LAN hosts would see your VPN connection from the same directly connected network users and would be know to traffic before the ASA rather than their default gateway.

    So is this just for VPN usage and NOT the gateway on the LAN?

    If it is just the VPN device I'd adding this

    He would do the same translation for 'phones' as he does on 'inside' (of course with different PAT IP)

  • How VLANs ' IP subnet ing works with based port of VLAN (series N2000 and N3000)

    Hi all

    I have a small pile of x N3024 2 acting as my heart L3 with a lag of 2 x 10 g down to a stack of x N2048 5 acting as L2 switch for my PC workstations.

    Workstations are that all on the port assigned VLAN 10 (switchport access vlan 10). I have a bunch of developers who want to access without restrictions more or less to assign random IP addresses for their VM (Virtualbox and VMware) Workstation.  As you can imagine, I would like some control over this situation.  the powerconnect guide I described features of subnet IP VLAN but does not seem to enter in how it works and interacts with the port actually function vlan assignments.

    What I currently have is the VLAN 10 assigned to a segment that support the subnet 172.100.x.x which dates back to our base of L3 for routing to other segments. What I want to do is to configure the VLAN based on IP and then load the dev is to config their VM with another IP range, say 10.10.x.x.

    Theory here is, I set the L3 core with say 20 VLAN and an IP to register in L3 path between subnets and then configure the battery switch L2 workstation with IP - based VLAN to recognize 10.10.x.x and separate on VLAN 20.

    However, I think the simplified here question is if I have a nail up to 10 ports VLAN, will the than basic work IP subnet VLANS as I want only it? Or, I need to create a subnet IP VIRTUAL local area network for the two IP ranges? I have to remove the assignenment VLAN per port and are based entirely on the treatment of subnet IP VLAN?

    If there is a better RTFM on this topic you can tell me I would appreciate it

    I ended up calling specialists... great Dell technical support here.

    In fact, the IP based VLAN works very close to what I want to achieve. Missing from the user guide is that the port needs to be in the mode. Ports using switch port mode and bound to a VLAN just didn't work... probably because the vlan IP based did not differ from the port binding. Dell support has suggested to use the trunk mode, but my answer is finished using the general mode; any traffic not referenced, PVID located my usual LAN vlan ID and acceptance of port traffic of new vlan based on IP. In this way, I'm able to have a physical host DHCP on the corporate LAN and a virtual machine on that host to bind to a different subnet which is then isolated in the new NAV based on IP.

  • WLAN clients in different subnet

    Hi all

    I was using the setting of the current with WLC2106 and 2 rounds.  So far, the management and the ap-Manager interface where on the same subnet (192.168.0.x).  I was using a static IP address for wireless clients, also on the 192.168.0.x.  If far so good and everything was up and running.  Now, I wanted wireless clients to get an IP address from the DHCP server in the 192.168.0.x subnet.  Leased IP addresses will be on another network - 192.168.7.x.  I tried to change the ap - manager for and IP address on the reseau.7.x and set DHCP server on both interfaces.  However, I can't customers aren't being associated with it, and when I try and give a static IP address on the reseau.7.x, I can't ping anything customers.  The routing is not the problem as I have confirmed that it works well.

    Should I change the management interface (as the WIFI network is associated with this interface, and I can't choose the ap - manager)?  Or do I have to use a dynamic interface?

    Hello Tiziana,

    In order to remove the clients on a different subnet / VLAN other than on your AP-Manager interfaces and management, you will need to deploy a new dynamic interface on the WLC.  Also make sure that the trunk on the vlan again at the WLC.  Here is an excellent guide that explains how to accomplish this.

    Hi all

    Please help to connect three sites with our Central site has all the resources for users, including internet access.

    The three sites will be the ASA 5505 like their WAN device.

    We need to know is - it possible, allowing to configure an IPsec Tunnel between the three ASA with duplicate LAN subnets.

    Central site two networks 192.168.1.x 24, 192.168.100.x 24

    Distance a 24 192.168.1.x subnet

    Two remote a subnet 192.168.100.x 24

    If it is possible we also do hair distance one ping, above two remote to the Central Site to access internet, what sites need are on the Central Site, including e-mail, network, other resource also records.

    We have no other way to make this network, as all security is on our Central Site, website filtering, Application filtering, filtering of network traffic all.

    We understand that we can change two remote sites to a different subnet from the Central Site, but we have so many host devices, it will take weeks or months, so to change the MS AD domain for all users, servers too.

    We really need your expertise to do this in a laboratory and then in production.

    I implemented a cluster using the DRS and HA for 2 different subnets environment... I configured using one and I have no problem... But, now I'll need to build esx 6... 3 for a subnet. .other 3 for another subnet.

    I read, whateever being used ip address, we just need a physical connection between them, I mean, Vlan and for work HA we have put in place an advanced on hearbeat setting change the default network... is this correct?

    Anyway, my question would be if the guests located on ESX on first subnet can work in an another ESX on different subnet?

    I mean, if we had some comments moved by DRS or HA to another host with different subnet, it'll work?

    Please, I always research it upward on the communities vmware, but if someone could help me? It would be nice...

    The management and the network of the virtual machine are different. You can do the cluster to function with the hosts in different subnets, however, for networks in the virtual machine, you will need to provide the same VLAN / networks on physical switch ports, if the virtual machine will not be able to access the network on the other host.

    Yes, network bridge can have several subnets.  Bridged using, your virtual machine works like any other physical machine on the network.  So just as if two physical machines on the same physical LAN had different submet, they would not be able to communicate directly with each other, so also with your virtual machine having a different subnet.  With two subnets, you should probably two gateways.  If you cannot change the 4th VM subnet to match others, you would need a router between the two subnets.  (Again, same as if they were physical machines.)

  • Replication of different subnet

    I need to configure the replication of an existing EQ group which has all of its interfaces on a subnet that is not routed; a newly staged group who will live in a different subnet.  Initially, the two groups will be co-located for staging, but the new group will be moved to a remote site, but retains the private address that it is affected.

    What is the best practice to configure replication?  I just need to allow the routing on the iSCSI networks?

    Yes, you need get the subnet that is connected to a router that will reach the remote site.   You set up default GW for iscsi is what is used for replication.  Replication between groups EQL is made via the port 3260 in an iSCSI session.

    The first thing that comes out of me, is that on the P 7024 30 VLAN IP address is in the same subnet as the IP addresses of 10 VLAN on the other switches. This creates a scenario on the Cisco and 8024 switches, where you cannot assign an IP address 192.168.10.x 30 VLAN. Because VLAN 30 does not have an IP address, it cannot be routed. The resulting transmission 7024 30 VLAN Tag traffic on port gi1/0/12 article. The CISCO_3750G receives traffic labeled for 30 VLAN, but then cannot do something with it.

    There are two approaches to solve this. You can assign a different subnet to the VLAN 30. Then on each switch assign an IP address to VLAN 30. Configure the switch for VIRTUAL LAN routing on your CISCO_3750G.

    Another option would be to not use 30 VLAN. Instead use 10 VLANS on the 7024 and VLAN 10 IP address assignment the 192.168.10.91.

  • WLC and AP on different subnets

    I want to add a new access point to my existing controller. Currently I have about 15 AP is connected to one vlan separate mgt for the AP, vlan 10. It's shared resources for the controller and the other VLAN user as Private, Public, etc. WVoIP. I already started to implement EIGRP network instead of having a large layer 2 vlan would be network. In one of the more recent places I'm routing, I have a new AP to connect. I'm trying to make sure that this design will work before I implement. So I have a 3560 connected to my core 4506 with a 3 layer connection. EIGRP works as well. I intend to have the 3560 intervlan routing with vlan voice, data and wireless. The problem I see is how can I get the AP to speak with the controller as they are on different subnets, more a metro E 'WAN '? Any suggestion would be great.

If you want to fix the ROUND on a different subnet from L3, then configure ip helper-address the ip address of each wlc management. then configure the ip forward-Protocol udp world 12222 & ip forward-Protocol udp 12223 on the router of L3.     Can someone tell me the best way or the right way to configure two 2 Gigabit NIC in Windows 7 Ultimate?

    Map NETWORK 1 is currently used to access the INET and my FreeNAS server via a 192.168.0.x subnet. I would like to set up a 2nd NETWORK card to maintain a "static route" between this box (Win 7) and box of FreeNAS (OPT 1 is configured as a secondary NIC on the side of FreeNAS already).

    The static route will use the subnet 192.168.x.x with FreeNAS is 192.168.1.100 on the secondary card. The Win 7 box, I'm going to say... 192.168.1.3 for the static route NIC w / the same thing for GW and DNS.

    Is it possible that way, as mentioned above, or what I need to dig a little deeper. The static route will allow me to exploit the full potential (at least I hope) between 2 machines with regard to flow by a X-Over cable. This way I can put both sides higher than regular LAN depending on the parameters.

    I don't need to work, but rather a bit more than the flow of 20 MB/s when xfering large files recording studio. Yes... I know that FTP is not the best for xfering... I'm looking into SSH w/patch, SMB/CIFS or NFS

    Your plan should work fine.  Specify a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 on both network adapters to 192.168.0.x and 192.168.1.x different subnets.

    You do not need to specify GW and DNS on the secondary NETWORK, and you don't need to create a static route.

    To access the box of FreeNAS on secondary NETWORK map, use his IP (192.168.1.100), and not its NetBIOS name.

  • Problem with DHCP broadcast between VLAN

    I trying to solve the lab that I set up, I have a problem with broadcast between VLANS with my DHCP. I looked around the vmware community to find my answer, but I did not who is right why I post here!

    So here's my situation :

    • ESX with 2 race of VM:
      • An R2 of 2012 Windows running a DHCP server with a configured scope
        • This virtual machine is assigned to the vmnic4 with the port VLAN 100 group
      • A Windows 7, which I use as a customer
        • This virtual machine is assigned to the vmnic4 with the port VLAN 110 group
    • Switch Cisco with a simple configuration:

    interface FastEthernet0/1

    Description LINK FOR ESX

    switchport mode trunk

    switchport nonegotiate

    interface FastEthernet0/24

    Description OF LINK ROUTER

    • Configuration of the Cisco "router on the stick:

    The resolution of the problems that I did:

    • Affecting the client static IP and that both virtual machine can ping each other
    • Moving from the client to the same VLAN as DHCP server, and the DHCP server is to give the client an IP address.
    • Sniffing the packet:
      • I can see the client DHCPDiscover
      • I can see the router with the command "debug ip dhcp server packet" package passed on the 10.1.1.0.
      • I am not able to see the packets from the router to DHCP perspective

    That's why I guess miss me something ESX configuration.

    I think that you have configured an incorrect address of IP support, take a look at the following line:

    IP helper 10.1.1.0


    Your DCHP server is really 10.1.1.0? I think not, since 10.1.1.0 corresponds to the ID of the network 10.1.1.0/24 network.
