S20-4157 support SLI?

I was wondering out of curiosity if the S20 supports SLI. I've seen some say this, and others say that this is only enabled on the model D20. If so, is there a white list of GPUS that are only supported?

System: S20-4157. Intel Xeon X 5670 | 20 GB no DDR3-1333 ECC | EVGA GTX660 3GB | Win 10 Pro x 64

SLI with some Quadro cards is supported. SLI with GeForce is not supported in commercial work stations. This includes Lenovo, HP, Dell, etc..

If you have about 660 GTX then unfortunately you are limited to running two of them separately, but not in SLI.

It gives... Memory card: 2x2gb GDDR5, dual NVIDIA GeForce GT 650 M graphics

The Y500 comes with a second 650 M in the optical drive. This means a few things

    1. you will not have a DVD/CD player to use on the laptop (you can always buy an external)

    2. your laptop graphics and power games will be about 1.5 x as having 1 graphics card

    3. you will have 4 GB memory graphics, 2 GB of the here already to 650 m and 2 GB of 650 m, into the ultrabay slot

  • Upgrade memory (4157) ThinkStation S20

Hi, I'm trying to upgrade memory on my S20. I found this document of 2009 (http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/rep_ca/4/872/ENUSAG09-0134/ENUSAG09-0134.PDF) saying that S20 supports up to 48 GB. I bought 6 * 8GB ECC UDIMM and they work very well, but 48GB wasn't enough to maintain my heavy simulation data. S20 does support 96GB? According to the program dmidecode (Linux utility), my computer supports up to 192 GB, but max memory also depends on the motherboard, BIOS, etc. The official max memory may still be 48 GB, but in terms of architecture, he would support 96 GB or more?

Single 16 GB ECC UDIMM seems very rare, but I found this (http://www.memoryamerica.com/00d4964-00d4966.html) product at a reasonable price. 6 of these modules of memory would work with S20? Or maybe, it is still a good time to invest nearly $600 on DDR3 memory for a machine at age 7?

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forum

Looking at the number of IBM FRU in this list, the memory that you have accessed is a RDIMMS, not an ECC UDIMM. RDIMMs do not work in the S20. Unfortunately, you are limited to 6 x 8 GB UDIMM depending on availability of the size. Even if the series E5-1600 processors support more than 300 GB, I'm not aware of a real 16 GB DDR3 ECC UDIMM in the wild.

Given the cost, I recommend personally put that money toward a new system or even a refurb of the Lenovo decision-making. http://outlet.lenovo.com/outlet_us/workstations/#facet-1=1, 2,3,4. Major drawbacks only in a system is that you are limited to what is available and they come with a 1 year warranty. Retail systems have a term of 3 years and can be extended to 4 or 5.

Assuming that you land in a P500/700/900 or later version, you can find 6 or 8 x 16 GB DDR4 memory for about $350 ~ 600 depending on where you look. The smallest series P (P310/320/410) have 4 total DIMM connectors and limit your options.

  • Satallite X 200: Win 7 does not recognize cards SLI in Geforce Dual 8600MGT

    Hi all

I have a Satallite X 200 part number: PSPBUA-00N007 it has dual Geforce 8600 M GT graphics cards.
The laptop comes with Windows Vista (32 bit (I think).
I recently formatted the hard drive and installed Win 7 x 64 bit.

The problem I have is that Win 7 is not recognizing the two cards. In Device Manager, it lists only 1 card.
I tried the latest Geforce of Nvidia drivers that support SLi... not good.

I tried to install the graphics card Toshiba for 64 bit vista drivers... not good.
_The pilots work, but recognizes only 1 map monkey. _

I get no SLi option in the nvidia Control Panel.
Everything leads me to believe that the cards are not recognized by the system as being a pair of SLi.

I can't find the graphics drivers for win7 64 bit on Toshiba.

Is there something that I am missing? Is there another driver I need to install?
I even installed a Toshiba chipset driver pack for my computer Toshiba Web site.

I am in a bind. Help, please! :)

    Hello

As far as I know two different drivers for graphics cards have been published for the X 200 series.
A pilot has been published only for the models with a single graphics chip and the other driver was released for X 200 series equipped with two GPUS (SLI)

Thus, for example the v7.15.11.5664 of 64 bit Vista driver is released only for SLI models.

Since there is no other driver Win 7 on Toshiba page, I think that the only possible solution is the use of the driver of nvidia page.
    http://www.nvidia.de/download/index.aspx?lang=en

The laptop supports dual NVIDIA GeForce 8600 M GT graphics with NVIDIA SLI technology
    So try the nVidia Driver.
    GeForce-> GeForce 8 M series (laptops)-> GeForce 8600 M GT-> Win 7 64 bit

  • GTA 5 on Y510 SLI

I have Y500 with core i5 and 750 m sli, fantastic series, sometimes it stops for 2-3 sec for loading the map, I think that because processor. SLI does not work, I am trying to solve this problem, anyway, the gta has good optimization, it runs in a 30-40 fps video card

  • Problems with SLI on Y510P

I have a problem with my Ideapad Y510P.

It is said in the control panel Nvidia SLI is enabled. When I use it for intensive play however there is no load on the second GPU. It simply says that the GPU load is 0% on the secondary GPU and almost 99% on the main GPU. Im running the latest version of the driver (332.21) and I have updated the VBIOS mentioned in other discussions. Well, everything should work according to the NVIDIA software.

I hope there is a fix for this already or that a person can look at the issue.

What game? Not all games support SLI.

Your a6654f pc does not support SLI. E chipset supports 1 pci express card.

-supports 1 PCI Express x 16 slot for external graphic support

I'd get a good video card and upgrade of power also because it's 300W.

  • You can run two GEForce 220 s together?

Hello, I have a fairly new e9180t I ordered for NLE work, but I have since got hooked on the game and the desire now with that I would have gotten a more capable than the GEForce 220 card he delivered.  So, I am considering the upgrade, but in my reading, I wonder if it is possible to get an another 220 and run them together just?  If this card can even be performed in an SLI configuration, it would give me all vs benefits/just performance deficits running a single GEForce 260 or Radeon 4870?

I'm not even sure that my system supports SLI.  The general specifications on the system are:

    480W PSU

    IPMTB-TK MOBO (PCIe x 16 w/2 connectors)

    Intel x 58 chipset

    Any help would be great!

ED, I did some research and it seems that the GT 220 is not SLI ready.  In addition, WoW does not require a video map high-end.  However, I recommend at least an ATI 4000 series or 200 series nVidia card.  I suggest to take measures of space will be adapted for the card to ensure that you choose.  Measure from the edge of the box to the opposite side of the motherboard where the PCIE slot.  It is the approximate length of the card which must integrate.  The 4870 is 9.5 "long and double profile.

Well, to tell you the truth, everything I read in the past years, SLI and Crossfire only provide a 40% increase in performance.  It is not enough to encourage me to update my motherboard and spend the extra $ 300 for a second card.  I'm running a XFX ATI 4870 XXX 1 GB card in my gaming computer.  I play Brothers In Arms - road to full hell in settings.  It works perfectly.

  • Hi I have been looking at the PC and wondering what hp model is the best way to upgrade

I have reflected on some hp machines and do not find with decent food that would support sli or xfire are all hp machines that have a way of evolution?

coffee_man wrote: heck I like the hp machines, they are very good students for a dollar, I was hoping to find one that had a price level budget I could be upgraded later so I can play newer games...

Hello coffee_man, I know what you mean. Can you could find a company with a dual PCIe x 16 slot system and a higher power supply, but you must be prepared to pay a premium for one of these management systems.

Most of the OEM suppliers does not have one of these systems in the divisions of their house.

  • Remove dual-boot partition Ubuntu

I recently installed Ubuntu 14.10 utopian Unicorn on my Y510p hoping to squeeze a little more FPS out of cs (VALVe announced that their games run better on OpenGL than DirectX11). However, I quickly realized that it's a HUGE pain to get support SLI on Linux, and I'd only stick with Windows. Is it possible to get rid of the Ubuntu partition without removing the bootloader Windows 8.1? I heard that if you just delete the Linux partitions you can not start up again. Oh and the reason why I want to remove it is I have a limited due to an SSD space, so I prefer not to be watsting from 37 to Ubuntu and the 15 GB for swap. Thanks for your help

In the end (much later, of course) I opted to completely remove all of my partitions, convert my MBR disk and install Windows 7. My life is much better now. As a great man once said - "Windows 8? Welcome to hell. »

  • Issues General y510p

I bought a y510p and I look forward to his arrival. I ordered mine on the Canadian Web site, someone who received their machines can confirm a few things?

First of all, I heard rumors of people receiving the machine without the 4700MQ processor and receiving a 4702MQ instead listed. It's a problem recently or only when he started to ship?

Second of all, I'm confused, my model is the simple graph model 750 m. It seems that in the future, the machine is always built to support SLI with a second card and the other could be added? I'm not 100% sure on that someone can confirm?

Third, I've heard mixed opinions on the question of if the product overheats (more people saying that it is not). For me, it does not look as if it might overheat, especially with the single-GPU.

Fourth, there are supposed to be 4 options for the ultra-baie: 750 m secondary display, dvd/bluray player, player/caddy extra hard extra fan. Where are these modules available and if they are not available as of yet, no word on when they will be?

I'll appreciate all my concerns as possible be answered. Want to buy a second machine for a friend, I would first of all these responses. Thanks in advance!

    Liam

Answered all my questions, was aware of the issue of 4700/4702 and confirmed it has been fixed now (what I really wanted to know). Confirmed that no module ultrabay is availible at the times (neither the GT750M nor the bluray nor the hard drive caddy). Gave me an extra $ 50 off with a "friends and family discount. Other things, as explained how works the guarantee (that they don't attach any personal information to the machine and its warranty and registration) for a friend, I'm going to buy a second model for can easily get assistance guaranteed by itself without my participation, etc. She was just very useful compared side by side with everyone I spoke in front of her.

  • Applications of 3D games work does not correctly. Specifically, DOOM 3, half-life, half-life 2, left 4 dead, etc.___My is for games. Please advise if I should downgrade to Vista.___Thank you.

I am running Windows 7 upgraded from Vista home premium 64-bit on a quad-core processors, to 2.66 Ghz, Nvidia GTX 260 GPUs (x 2 SLI), 12 GB of DDR3 RAM.  I can't get the 3D application to work with my games.  I tried the upgrade/downgrade of the GPU drivers; for example DOOM 3 will not work unless the GPU is fully upgraded and then not 3D

Also, try to update your motherboard chipset drivers as well. Simply because only the video drivers support Sli, it must be supported with the chipset drivers too. If you look at the site of Nvidia and the forums, you will see that Nvidia has not yet perfected SLi games on windows7. I had the same problem as you, I have Nvidia 9800GT SC in SLI, and I work installed Doom3. Fortunately, a fix came a set BIOS to update my motherboard (750 a SLi XFX) manufacturer. See if there is an update to the BIOS of your motherboard. Focus on the Nvidia forums as well.
