ThinkStation s20 sli

Is the s20 support SLI?

I installed 2 cards of nvidia gtx 275 and the option to activate sli does not appear on the nvidia Control Panel.

I used the flexible fitting EVGA as Sli bridge.

In Device Manager, the two gtx 275 cards are visible.

Thank you.

  • ThinkStation s20 starting problems

Hello to one who reads this,

Thanks for the time to stop talking and to read my question.

    So:

I was using my thinkstation s20 for a year now and have not had any problems for a long time. I updated to Windows 10 and upgraded to a Gtx 1080. The thinkstation took all without problem and both of these improvements/changes have made about 6 months before this Post. Yesterday I suddenly started having problems with the performance of the machines.

The system crashed while I was doing some points of reference. I rebooted the system, and everything was going well until it finally crashed again. Today, I started the machines and nothing works. It is stuck at the start screen and I can't see is the lenovo thinkstation Logo on my screen. Sometimes, but very rarely the product of the system, but all he said then is that no operating system is found. Some odd things also came to my attention: when I started the PC before Fans would turn quickly and then slowly down to a normal speed (Im almost certain that those who were Fans of the Gpu only). Second, the events began occurring after I have updated to the latest drivers for the Gpu

Thank you for taking the time to read

    Any help is appreciated

Well thanks for your reply, me and a few friends who I invited came and thought of it. My hard drive with the operating system and everything else has been corrupted. So I just reinstall Windows from a disk to a new hard disk, I always had on an old pc and put it in the machines. If everything is working again now. Thanks again for your quick response!

  • Upgrade memory (4157) ThinkStation S20

Hi, I'm trying to upgrade memory on my S20. I found this document of 2009 (http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/rep_ca/4/872/ENUSAG09-0134/ENUSAG09-0134.PDF) saying that S20 supports up to 48 GB. I bought 6 * 8GB ECC UDIMM and they work very well, but 48GB wasn't enough to maintain my heavy simulation data. S20 does support 96GB? According to the program dmidecode (Linux utility), my computer supports up to 192 GB, but max memory also depends on the motherboard, BIOS, etc. The official max memory may still be 48 GB, but in terms of architecture, he would support 96 GB or more?

Single 16 GB ECC UDIMM seems very rare, but I found this (http://www.memoryamerica.com/00d4964-00d4966.html) product at a reasonable price. 6 of these modules of memory would work with S20? Or maybe, it is still a good time to invest nearly $600 on DDR3 memory for a machine at age 7?

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forum

Looking at the number of IBM FRU in this list, the memory that you have accessed is a RDIMMS, not an ECC UDIMM. RDIMMs do not work in the S20. Unfortunately, you are limited to 6 x 8 GB UDIMM depending on availability of the size. Even if the series E5-1600 processors support more than 300 GB, I'm not aware of a real 16 GB DDR3 ECC UDIMM in the wild.

Given the cost, I recommend personally put that money toward a new system or even a refurb of the Lenovo decision-making. http://outlet.lenovo.com/outlet_us/workstations/#facet-1=1, 2,3,4. Major drawbacks only in a system is that you are limited to what is available and they come with a 1 year warranty. Retail systems have a term of 3 years and can be extended to 4 or 5.

Assuming that you land in a P500/700/900 or later version, you can find 6 or 8 x 16 GB DDR4 memory for about $350 ~ 600 depending on where you look. The smallest series P (P310/320/410) have 4 total DIMM connectors and limit your options.

  • Integrated vs. discrete graphics-> processors

    Hello world

I am looking to buy a new computer workstation E30, and I am a little uncertain on which I should choose between integrated and discrete graphics. I understand it, in effect, what the differences are and I would go with discrete graphics, but I'm confused by why each option comes with a different set of processors to choose. For example, if I choose an E30 with integrated graphics card, I can choose a range of Intel Core Xeon processors, but if I choose to go with discrete graphics, I can only select one among a range of different Xeon processors.

Originally, I had planned to go with the Intel Core i7-2600 with the graphics card NVIDIA Quadro 600 processor, but this combination is available only if I select the integrated graphics card, I read is generally worse than discrete graphics. I am happy to go with discrete graphics, but I'm not sure how the Xeon processors compare with the Core i7-2600.

If I intend to use my computer for CAD programs running, but also of the games, should which way I go?

The new Integrated GPU exists on the same chipset as the CPU. The new i3, i5 and i7 processor all have an integrated onboard gpu. Some of the Xeon processors used in the E30 does not have an integrated gpu, that's why only some Xeon processors are the choice when you choose the option only discrete.

The integrated gpu + discreet graphics card option is really a direct influence on performance, since only the discreet graphics card will be used.

Xeon processors are processors designed for servers, workstations, etc., that are held permanently the large memory and cpu intensive operations. The supply of RAM ECC on the Xeon also reduces the error rate when used with these processes.

If you try to run games, Quadro 600 isn't really all that good, you're better with a game cards, who may have some compatibility issues in the E30. In addition, 280 watt on the E30 power will not support a lot of graphics card. Also according to CAD programs, then you can get away with using a standard of play rather class graphics card workstation cards. that is, many Autodesk products can work with playing cards.

I think you should probably look to build your own office rather than buying an E30, if you also want to play games. If you have the money, then you can get S20, D20, C20x, which are better suited to the range of uses you have in mind.

PS ThinkStation S20 does not have provision for Integrated GPU, therefore, it cannot be bought with the discreet graphics card and it does not support the i3, i5, i7 cpu of the class.

  • New installation of XP, keycode does not

I recently bought a dozen Lenovo computers.  Some Thinkpad T510 and 400.  Some Thinkstation S20 and E20.  I have them all rights of Windows 7, but with XP pre-installed.  Since they came with a bunch of software assessment and some other junk on them I was just going to clean and reinstall XP.

As computers have Win 7 rights, the tag on the back is a keycode Win 7 so I used one of the key finders to get the XP key off each machine code and all have the standard Lenovo preactivated key that works only on Lenovos.  So I erased the computer and installed XP Pro on all and all installs it took the keycode.

Now normally Windows should see this keycode and detect that it is a Lenovo and not need to activate, however it prompts to activate.  But when I go to activate Windows tells me that the code is not valid.

I have a feeling is what they keycode xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx is not match HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProductID which varies according to the type of CD used to install XP Pro.  For example, if you use a CD XP Pro SP1 OEM to install XP your ProductID registry key will result in:

    XXXXX-OEM-0014324-XXXXX

And SP2 OEM will result in:

    XXXXX-OEM-0060807-XXXXX

So the question is, what the Lenovo XP Pro generates a product for the standard CD key identifier?  I probably know the answer if I does not format all the computers at the same time...

You must get a restore CD XP from Lenovo. (you will need to call them for him) You will probably need to pay for shipping. If your warranty you need to do a no-cost. (by a message I saw by Mark_Lenovo) P.S. the more likely using an OEM XP disk. (as a disc of Lenovo WILL see your key integrated)

  • S20-4157 support SLI?

I was wondering out of curiosity if the S20 supports SLI. I've seen some say this, and others say that this is only enabled on the model D20. If so, is there a white list of GPUS that are only supported?

    System: S20-4157. Intel Xeon X 5670 | 20 GB no DDR3-1333 ECC | EVGA GTX660 3GB | Win 10 Pro x 64

SLI with some Quadro cards is supported. SLI with GeForce is not supported in commercial work stations. This includes Lenovo, HP, Dell, etc..

If you have about 660 GTX then unfortunately you are limited to running two of them separately, but not in SLI.

  • S20 freezes on startup with installed PCIe card

    Today I made a new S20 (4105 - 94G) Win 7 x 64 BIOS: 60KT31AUS

I installed the Quadro FX 580 without problem.

When I tried to install a Firewire 800 PCIe 1.1 card x 1 system freezes during startup, with the ThinkStation screen with the Intel logo visible. No error message, no beeps. I waited for several minutes. This happens in all three PCIe free slots (x 1, x 4, x 16).

The card in a Sunix FWB3414G (LSI chip).

I would like to know 1) if any of you have this card work in an S20, 2) suggestions of what to try next.

Thank you very much in advance for any help or advice.

    Pedro.

  • Quadro FX 5800 in D20/S20?

the D20 or S20 yourself running the Quadro FX 5800?

(mod edit: changed the title to match the new thread)

D20 can support dual FX5800 (also in SLI mode).

    S20 can support a single FX5800.

  • Satallite X 200: Win 7 does not recognize cards SLI in Geforce Dual 8600MGT

    Hi all

I have a Satallite X 200 part number: PSPBUA-00N007 it has dual Geforce 8600 M GT graphics cards.
The laptop comes with Windows Vista (32 bit (I think).
I recently formatted the hard drive and installed Win 7 x 64 bit.

The problem I have is that Win 7 is not recognizing the two cards. In Device Manager, it lists only 1 card.
I tried the latest Geforce of Nvidia drivers that support SLi... not good.

I tried to install the graphics card Toshiba for 64 bit vista drivers... not good.
_The pilots work, but recognizes only 1 map monkey. _

I get no SLi option in the nvidia Control Panel.
Everything leads me to believe that the cards are not recognized by the system as being a pair of SLi.

I can't find the graphics drivers for win7 64 bit on Toshiba.

Is there something that I am missing? Is there another driver I need to install?
I even installed a Toshiba chipset driver pack for my computer Toshiba Web site.

I am in a bind. Help, please! :)

    Hello

As far as I know two different drivers for graphics cards have been published for the X 200 series.
A pilot has been published only for the models with a single graphics chip and the other driver was released for X 200 series equipped with two GPUS (SLI)

Thus, for example the v7.15.11.5664 of 64 bit Vista driver is released only for SLI models.

Since there is no other driver Win 7 on Toshiba page, I think that the only possible solution is the use of the driver of nvidia page.
    http://www.nvidia.de/download/index.aspx?lang=en

The laptop supports dual NVIDIA GeForce 8600 M GT graphics with NVIDIA SLI technology
    So try the nVidia Driver.
    GeForce-> GeForce 8 M series (laptops)-> GeForce 8600 M GT-> Win 7 64 bit

    Hello

Yes, it could be a graphics card problem.
In this case the whole motherboard must be replaced.

  • Satellite x 200-21 x with the 8600gt sli - performance in Vista & Games

    Hello

    I'm new here.

So, I installed all the drivers brand new on my Vista Ultimate, but I noticed a few problems.

    1. where can I find or install turbo 1 GB memory... I noticed that in the screen parameters are the values not displayed as they should be written on information cards and Toshiba;
    2. in the exercise and more games I notice slow, bad performance with SLI mode market, with MSI updates of Microsoft especially for sli and nvidia, as well as 2 times 8600 GT with SLI where is performance?

I had downloaded all the drivers at Toshiba support page... and here are my results: in the image:
    Link: [http://www.moj-album.com/slika/289812/Rarvg0J6H37YPODv.jpg/#]

I would be very happy to tell me how can I improve my performance so that the games in Sli mode will go to 1024 x 768 with medium/high details in games like (Call of Duty 4, NFS Prostreet)?

    TX;

    Can someone with a Satellite X 200 and SLI in Geforce 8600gt tell me how to improve performance on my laptop and if its normally with the sli mode, with only 256 MB ram, graphic card 1024Mo all together and dedicated 767 MB, as seen on the link to my graphic card screen;

Because I think that the graphic representation must be better... and now I don't know what to do?

    On my Satellite X 200 - 21 X I run Vista ultimate, all the latest drivers from toshiba are supported, and I can't play games on the resolution of 1024 x 768 with medium details;
In COD4 is my default definition 800 x 600 all the way...

So what I expect help and answers.

  • Qosmio X 300 - 11W - cards SLI in the future

    Hello

I m thinking on this laptop. I want it in replacement of the office. It seems to be very very good, but I have a question.

There are now 9800GTX - is one of you knows if would be available to buy another card SIMILARLY to make SLI?

Also - the speed of the HARD drive. It does not say how fast is it. 5400 or 7200.
Is there anyone who has experiences with this laptop or you know some websites that says something more about it.

    Thank you

    Hello

The X 300 series is new to the market, so I didn t find many sources that provide details on this laptop, but I found some details. Thanks to google and the user manual Toshiba site (you can find it on European support of Toshiba tribute) ;)

    > Also - the speed of the HARD drive. It doesn't say how fast it is. 5400 or 7200.
There are 2 HARD drive installed and the two seem to work with 5400 RPM

I didn t find all the details about the SLI option and the possibility to upgrade the laptop with the second GPU chip but I doubt that this will be possible.
