Sale of OEM computers without the recovery disk

I just bought a computer from a State surplus auction.  The computer came with Windows XP Home installed, and a certificate of authenticity attached to the case.  However, there was no recovery media included in the sale.  Is it legal to sell me the computer as it is?  Everything I read says I need to include the recovery disk so that the license transfer legally, but I feel that the reason is so that I have more copies of the software.  Is this correct?
Thanks in advance!

Do you mean that the current drive cloning and who then distributes with the sale of a PC would be in the EULA?

No, it's not an original image.  This might be useful:

If your goal is to reinstall the operating system there are ways to achieve

We need to tap the F11 key immediately after presswing the laptop power button. Who will call the Recovery Manager unless you have deleted the recovery partition or have done something to the original disk partition scheme. In the Recovery Manager simply choose to recover your PC for the original operating system

Alternatively, you can order a set of HP recovery disks.

  • Satellite U400-146 - how to start recovery without the recovery disk

I need to try to do a restore system on my Satellite U400-146.
However, I don't think it came with a disc.
Does anyone know how to initiate recovery of the system on this laptop?

    Hello

The recovery disk was not provided with the laptop because there is a tool called Toshiba Recovery disk Creator that allows you to create a recovery disc!
Please check if you can create a recovery disk using this tool!

If this is not possible, then you can check if the HARD drive recovery is available.

    Hi mate.

First of all, you should take a look in the user manual of your Qosmio F60 and read the entire manual carefully.

You will find information on the laptop and the recovery disks.
The point is that you can create a clean recovery disc using the Toshiba recovery disc Creator called preinstalled tool.
But all this information is in the user manual too.

  • How to install Vista from the recovery disk without defining partitions?

    Hello

I have my recovery disk and I have installed a new 320 gb HHD.
When I installed the recovery disc, it re done the 160 GB partitions in each (2 partitions more the 1 recovery partition)...

But I want to dual boot with XP pro because of software problems and I prefer it sometimes...
    I redid my scores, 1 - 51 GB for XP pro(32bit), 2nd - 51 GB for vista (32 gb) and the 3rd - 210 gb is for storage

How to install with Toshiba vista o/s and stuff that comes with it on the recovery disc, immediately to the 2nd partition without affecting how I configure the hard drive...

I have about 100 GB of photos, music, and cam vids on storage, with nowhere to put them, so I can't risk, because some are copy only (so it might be a good idea to let me know how I save this s on my storage spread in the DVD please)

If I can t, then can some1 please tell me how to get my Toshiba OEM vista off this recovery disk or a link for me?

Hope all this makes sense lol... Thank you
    Shane

If you have so much important material best save is to buy an external HARD drive and copy all this stuff here. I recommend buying the small 2.5 external HDD and when necessary, you can take with you and connect to any computer, if you want to view or copy this file. External hard discs connected to other computers with a supplied USB cable.

    Return to your partitions.
When you use the original Toshiba DVD facilities, you will have 3 partitions.
WinRE - partition and it belongs to the Vista operating system. This partition is not visible, and this isn't some sort of Toshiba recovery partition
    -C for Vista partition
Or-d/E to the DATA in the partition. This partition is recorded recovery image in the folder called HDDRecovery
I don't know what model of laptop you have, but this configuration is on all new Toshiba laptops shipped WITHOUT recovery media.

Using Toshiba recovery media, you will be able to get exactly mentioned structure of the partitions. Support to recovery facilities using you WILL NOT be able to install Vista on the second partition.

So if you want to have the dual boot with Windows XP Home edition, you can do following:
-At first, you are going to install Vista with support of recovery and on the second partition, you are going to install your version of Windows XP Home edition
-At first you will be installing WXP and then you can install Vista on the second partition, but you must use the Microsoft facilities drive. Recovery media can not be used.

That's all I can say from my experience with such things.

  • Re: How to get Corel WinDVD without using the recovery disk?

The update for Corel WinDVD was rather messy and because of this some owners laptop uninstalled to try to install the new software. Now, we ended up with the only possibility of an image recovery, which, in practice, means losing the software.

Updates for the Bluetooth and wifi are also pretty messy.
Is isn´t possible to get this software back without using the recovery disk?

As you probably know recovery image installed on Toshiba laptops is a kind of software that includes the operating system, drivers, tools specific to Toshiba and utilities but also some additional software like antivirus or DVD player application.

All drivers and Toshiba tools and utilities are available on the Toshiba download page, and if you want to install the version of the OS, you can download each of them.
This additional software is not available for download. It's a kind of gift on the owner of the laptop because as the new owner, your machine must be ready to employment with full protection and opportunities to use multimedia content.

If you don't like it, you can remove the system and use your own applications.

Summary: this software cannot be downloaded separately and if you want to have it again, you must install original image of recovery designed for your machine.

If you have any other questions do not hesitate to ask.

This message means that laptop tried to boot from LAN.
Given that this was not possible the PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable appeared

I guess that the HARD drive is defect and therefore, the laptop won't boot from the internal HARD drive.
In this case also your internal data on the HARD disk are lost.

But to be100% sure that you can remove the laptop HARD drive, could use a drive enclosure HARD 2.5 to connect the HARD drive to another computer just to check if you would be able to access data on the HARD drive

    Hello:

You can order a recovery disc defined by following the instructions on the link below.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

    or...

You can download the 32-bit or 64-bit version of windows 7 Home Premium ISO on the link below and use your product key to activate the installation.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/

You need a program that will be able to burn ISO files so that the DVD is bootable DVD burning. Burn at the slowest possible speed for best results.

Then install all the drivers you need for your PC support and driver page.

  • How the recovery disk creator actually works?

I read on the forum on the recovery disk creator and I'm a bit confused... in the name, it becomes obvious that he is indeed a creator, but I have no thread caught my attention which in fact is to create a recovery disk. How does it work? Of course, it is used to restore the system to the default settings, but you can make your own backup copies recovery of the State, the system is now? Or do all the recovery discs take you where it all begun so to speak...

And if I could create my own presets, restrictions on the amounts of images? And he brings with him all that is installed in the time that the image was created?

As I made clear in my previous posts, I have not bought the thing... It's in the mail. I'm just getting ready for the terrible experience of how things can go wrong when I don't have the original DVD of Windows in my hands :)

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

So many questions! I'll try to help you with unclear words.

In the latest Toshiba has delivered laptop computers equipped with recovery media. Very old computers laptop Toshiba created mainly two CD recovery and newer laptops a Recovery DVD.
This recovery DVD was in the box with the notebook.

This recovery CD/DVD contains a recovery image. Recovery image can be installed on the laptop and after that each installation of the laptop will have factory settings the same state that you have when you start your laptop for the first time.
Recovery image contains the system operations, drivers, Toshiba and utility tools and some additional software. Therefore, after you install the recovery image, you should not install drivers or additional software. Everything is done for you.

Then, new notebooks, as your Satellite Pro A300-1EA, are not delivered with a separate recovery media and all those who buy the laptop must / should create a clean copy. This copy can be used for installations of operating system further. For recovery, multimedia creation Toshiba has designed special tool and it is designed to create recovery media ONLY.

To start the tool, select the media you want to use (I recommend DVD - R), put the media in the optical disc drive and click Create.

In fact the recovery image is saved on the HARD drive and placed on the second partition in the file called HDDRecovery.
Still, there is one thing. If nothing is changed on the system, partitions, and if this folder is not removed, you can install operating system whenever you want, but without using recovery media.

It is simply procedure. When the laptop starts press F8 and you will enter the advanced startup options. The first is called to fix my computer. Enter it and follow the on-screen menu. After two stages, you will see the window with several options and the last recovery option.

So please create DVD to be on the right side of recovery.

If you have any other questions please ask. Someone here will help you for sure.

    Good luck!

  • Re: Satellite L300D comes with the recovery disk?

    Hello

    I don't get a recovery disk when I bought my Satellite L300D.
Does anyone know if Satellite L300D is provided with the recovery disk?

As much I know computers made from the middle of 2007 aren't provided with the operating system recovery disks. How can I find out what year my satellite is made?

    Thank you very much

All new models of laptops including your are delivered without the recovery DVDs.
Recovery image is saved in the folder called HDDRecovery on the second partition.

Akuma is right. "You need to create a recovery media using preinstalled" Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. The shortcut that you can find on the desktop. Please do so and for the creation of recovery media I recommend you to use media high quality as TDK or Verbatim DVD-R.

You can install OS using the F8 key at startup to the top. The guideline how to proceed you will find under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
Note please. This can be done if this recovery image is not modified or if you install another operating system on the first partition. the second partition can be in original condition, but this F8 option will be gone.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

I'm not so happy owner of a HP Pavilion S3120N. I am running windows vista home edition. The motherboard went out so I replaced it with a Zotac GeForce 8200 - ITX Wifi series. Now the computer says it is noa a hp solution valid, and the recovery disks do not work. is there a way to fix this without buying a new operating system?

Yes, return the Zotac motherboard and get an OEM HP/Compaq M2NC51-AR / HematiteXL-GL8E motherboard. I know that's not the answer you want to hear, but the recovery discs are locked to a specific set of HP/Compaq machines with specific HP OEM motherboards. Apart from this, you will need to buy a new OS.

    Hello

If you n t find the recovery disk more and you want to restore the original settings, ask an authorized service provider. Guys can put in order a new disc of recovery for you.
You have the address of the guy?

Alternative, you can also sell the laptop without recovery disks. Just wipe the HARD drive before selling it with the HARD drive like s boot cleaning tool Darik and nuke or some other program.

But I think you get a better price if it comes with recovery disks ;)
