Sales of VMware experience in Western Canada

Someone here a recent experience with the sales support of VMware here in Western Canada?  I found it very difficult to try to get your hands on someone.  It's been weeks now, the only answer to my queries from my former VCP course load and a sales associate he knows (unfortunately, gentlenman is not responsible for my company).

I also recently talked a friend of mine (who is a head of IT with another company) by adopting VMware for his company.  I had his head off HyperV and so he began investigations in VMware, but got no response from anyone for awhile now.  I know it looks just in Infrastructure Enterprise 3 licenses, but you would think that someone at VMware would always?

Anyway this isn't a mug shot, but I'm curious to see if we are the only ones who know that here in Vancouver.  Someone else here that has this type of cold shoulder from VMware recently?

Thank you

I forwarded this thread to the person who runs the Canadian sales for VMware.   -Robert

  • esxi free upgrade to VMware vSphere Essentials Kit

Hi we are a small company with a new 1 and 1 old server sent us this question for the Department sales of vmware but have had no response.

We have two questions we hope that someone has had a few experiences with.

Currently we use free on our new server esxi5 if we buy VMware vSphere Essentials Kit

    1. is it just a matter of the conclusion of the license in the free version of esxi to give it functionality increase so there is not need to reinstall things?

2 if we have VMware vSphere Essentials Kit it would allow us to use tools such as quest vRanger pro or Acronis vmProtect for backup and replication connection.

It would be much cheaper than the use of VMware vSphere Essentials Kit pro and seems to do the same job.

    Thank you

Yes enter vSphere Essentials Kit License keys will unlock the applicable for this Kit features, re - install ESXi will be not be held

If we have VMware vSphere Essentials Kit it would allow us to use tools such as quest vRanger pro or Acronis vmProtect for backup and replication connection.

vSphere Essentials Kit inclused vStorage APIs for Data Protection so you should be good to use the third-party data protection software

  • Calling all Experts! Need material of XenApp vs VMware

    Hello

My company is about to make a decision to go forward with either entirely under VMware or XenApp license and I need some expert points to swing the argument for VMware. We have 24 servers, 3 are Citrix servers with a total of 40 users between 3 servers. Overall we have 75 total users with 40 being removed (on Citrix) and we have 1 Exchange server, 1 file server, and 20 SQL databases on 3 servers, other typical servers are backup, telephone system, etc... Our VAR is crazy-Citrix and talked trash on VMware from the start.

Here, the commitment has been send me VMware class where I myself VCP (awesome!)  There are already 25 k $ in our budget for 2009 to BUY VMware, but the management is at a standstill because of the influence of this VAR. all you have for me would be great because I don't have any experience Xen nor enough experience VMware, either! We have 3 servers virtualized and running on ESX - 3i. I also installed ESX - 4i on a spare box last week.

    Thank you all!

    Eric

Well, I have work on both but would prefer to use VMware if possible due to the fact its highly scalable, performance and reliability.  You know almost all fortune 100, 500 and 1000 using VMware as their data solution center just because it is proven and reliable overall and they have many more solutions you can take part as view, LM, SRM, ThinApp, vShield Zones, VDR, here about all-stop service.  I like Xen App 5.0 and it is a great proven with Softgrid and ThinApp application virtualization.  You compare with Xen Enterprise & vSphere?

The best person to help you convince your boss is VMware sales representative or partner VAC, they trained in these areas and have very well planted and weaknesses that they can launch at Citrix competitive at any time.  I took online sales professional VMware and its really great program and has a lot of good training and a lot of information on competitive.  I would ask VMware Sales Engineer to come in and present free and they will answer questions, you can have and you'll get secure with the VMware solution.

I have the BB8830, World Edition. I will leave the United States and will be in Asia and then in the Canada. I tried searching and found a few messages that guided me through unlocking phone, but it didn't work. Could someone help me with this task? Specifically, I see the 5 display UNKNOWN options and I checked for a SIM card in the BB, but it is not a, and the device is

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

If you move to Canada permanently, you will not be able to use only 8830 and use it on Bell or Telus Mobility. Currently, they do not support foreign NSE (electronic serial number). So, you will need to buy a phone that is sold by Bell or Telus Mobility.

  • Patching VMware ESXi

So, I recently discovered that my VMware ESXi running ESXi 5.5.0 version 1331820 build number (ESXi 5.5.0 GA). Now, I know that there are a few fixes that have been released, ESXi550-201410001 is the most recent, because as far as I know. It would be convenient to patch, also if this is the case, can I just go what version I am now, download the recent patch and install directly, or is there a few required required fixes before. Active and important virtual machines running on hosts that I would be "patching" it may be closed, but it would be really bad if the patch to cause problems for causing problems for VMS host.

I'm new to this, as I have never "patched" before ESXi. I guess I can use this (KB VMware: installation of patches on an ESXi host from the command-line 5.x ) as the documentation on how to install those.

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, the ESXi patches are cumulative.

Please read this blog post from VMware:are cumulative patches ESXi | VMware vSphere Blog - VMware Blogs

Another good blog post about it:VMware experience before: are some cumulative patches 5.x ESXi?

  • I am not if my concentration on VMware will rise on the labour market.

There was a day when I would get dozens of hits on dice and Monster for "VMware Engineer". Now works with VMware in the job description are "systems engineer". Pure VMware openings are rare now, or they are assignments of short duration of the contract. I wonder about my decision to focus exclusively on VMware. Is the curve of work on VMware upgrade skills and drop? What is the next wave?

And you know a company is looking for a VMware engineer with 5 years of experience in server virtualization and data center migration?

I think you made the right decision - that has been on the job market, I found great interest in my vmware experience - if you want to be within a company, I don't think, you will find a lot of positions which will be called vmware engineer - they will be mixed in the role of engineer/architect systems because those are the positions they have set - if you are ready to follow the path of consultation with 5 years experience that you shouldn't have a problem finding a position - where you are located can also be an important factor in the type and the number of positions of vmware-available in your market

  • ESXi 4 Installable U1 + taken VMware supported SD cards?

I searched the Forum a bit ( http://communities.vmware.com/message/1476000#1476000 and http://communities.vmware.com/message/1471521#1471521 for example) and really have not found a good (or official VMware) answer the question of SD cards supported in versions installed ESXi user.  My biggest concern is the support.  Are the supported user installed SD card? For now, I'm setting up a new R710 with SD reader module internal and my support is through VMware and not Dell.  I was told (by Vmware sales) that VMware does NOT support install ESXi SD card, unless it is installed through the OEM directly.  But it seems strange.  I have the Essentials, so I don't get taken in charge unless I paid $300 per incident anyway. But I want to just make sure that if I called VMware they cling on me because I use a SD boot ESXi.  I really like installation on flash/SD because I think the management is far superior to the disk HARD local installs (as mentioned in previous posts).   Unfortunately, now I do not know what to think about the support... http://communities.vmware.com/images/emoticons/sad.gif There is no mention in the HCL of Flash cards or SD recommended or taken in charge.  This seems to be a really horrible exclusion IMO since the ESXi 4 U1 install documentation refer to the HCL for Flash devices are supported.

Seems like there is a lot of confusion on this issue from the perspective of support.  Can someone clarify this once and for all the GOLD offer some guidelines that wanted to keep me supported by VMware? All I found was this article (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1010574) that references the USB flash devices.  This kind of logic applies to the SD cards as well?  I bought the kit SD from Dell (Dell's SD map - which seems to be a generic Kingston 1 GB).  If someone can offer comments/insight I would really appreciate it.  Thank you...

    Hello

I was almost in your situation some time ago. In any case, I will share with you my thoughts. Maybe help you.

I was evaluation install ESXi 4.0 for free in some IBM M2 x 3550 servers in internal USB flash

As you say this KB is therefore clear: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1010574

Install esxi (built-in) USB is supported only if is done by the supplier of OEM (HP, Dell, IBM and Fujitsu-Siemens). Is also supported an ESXi installable install by the user by using the provider OEM USB flash devices supported (and local support for hard disks).

The statement above apply to the SD devices.

If I am mistaken, HP Dell not install the embedded version of esxi in an internal SD and is fully supported by vmware. Don't forget vmware has a agreement with all this OEM provider to fully support their esxi facilities incorporated.

For example, think about this hypothetical situation. If the full SD/USB support dies and your virtual environment is partially/fully down, it's a good idea to have a SD/USB backup to get up the infrastructure as quickly as possible. Is this not supported? I don't think so

In any case, if you want to be 100% sure, purchase the material supplier Server esxi embedded wirh installed and maybe get a backup supported (provider) SD

Hope this long answer helps you

    Best wishes / Saludos.

  • HP ENVY 15 x 360 PC: lost CarePack

I apologize in advance for not posting in the right advice, I don't know where to go for this.

Thus on 24 August this year, I bought a product Care Pack (HP 1 year PW Pickup back want NB SVC, H370765164order number) on the HP site, but I still receive it by post. I checked with the Office of my apartment to make sure he has not mixed with the other mail, but they could not find. I received a confirmation e-mail and a product record e-mail afterwards, so I know that my payment has gone through and he was apparently shipped. I can provide the emails if required as proof of purchase or something like that.

I guess my question is, is there a way to return my carepack information or maybe a way of searching CarePack serial number so that I can save it to my laptop? Otherwise, if I can't, does mean that my PC is unprotected and I fell $135?

    Any help would be appreciated.

"Way back when" materials Care Pack came to us in the package mailed to us.

In my own experience, Care Pack is now "delivery", in other words, you should receive an email that contains the necessary information about your purchase.

Whatever it is, you can get it straightened out.

This number might work - although the number of 'buy', it is likely that you may be transferred to the good service.

  • Pavilion 550 179na: keyboard, typing letters multiple even if only 1 key

I bought this computer a week ago and I use the keyboard and mouse that came with it.

The keyboard started typing a letter multiple times, even if the button is pressed only once...

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening please?

    @GillyB

Assuming for the moment that is not in some cases associated with other problems that you have experienced, that you have installed / updated the drivers of HP, and that your operating system is also includes itself (lots of "If this and that"), then the following could be useful to help you adjust the keyboard settings.

    • First of all, try to simply set the keyboard for "repeat rate":

Control Panel > display icon > Ease of Acess > make the keyboard easier to use >

Scroll down and click on the keyboard settings > adjust as you wish

    • If this is not enough - or does not provide the kind of response get you, and then run:

Control Panel > display icon > Ease of Acess > make the keyboard easier to use >

Check Turn on filter keys > adjust settings to find the one that works for you

  • Satellite Pro M70 - what HARD drive can you recommend?

I have Satellite Pro M70 and I have a 60GB HDD that I see what it s SATA 8 MB of buffer memory. The processor it s 1.73 GHz. I see that there is the Samsung typical 160 GB and the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 160 GB at the same price, which is better?

And for only $ 11 more there's a Scorpio blue Western digital 320 with even 8 MB buffer than other 2. But I don t think so 320, that's a lot for Satellite Pro M70, and I have an external drive 2.5 "250 GB, data with this is not problem.

What the best solution for this laptop? I don t want to burn now the phone LOL.

    Thank you

    Hello

If your laptop is already equipped with SATA interface, you can use each HDD with SATA1 or SATA2 port on the new SATA interface there is no limit on the old standard IDE

It s your choice what HARD drive you buy because I put t know your needs, but in my opinion it makes no difference which manufacturing you buy the HARD drive. All hard drives are similar and there is no significant difference (performance).
I made good experiences with Western Digital and Hitachi hard drives.

By the way: you can buy a HARD drive with 7200 rpm or 5400.rpm. Latter is faster but requires more power. In my opinion, this is useful if you often work with large files.

Belarc and Jellybean are good products and provide a lot of useful information.

If you cannot find the information you are looking for in the output of the program, consider:

Windows 10 does not automatically come with Microsoft Office software.

Microsoft Office is available either with a service subscription (Office 365) or (to date) a defined independent program you buy for a «once "price (office 2016).»

I would guess by looking at the specifications, that your office software is not a full version, purchase Microsoft Office software and is, instead, a trial version or maybe a link / offer for you to buy Microsoft Office software.

Trial software (if a form any desktop is installed) is temporary, you must purchase the software in order to activate the suite of Office programs.

If you have not yet purchased Microsoft Office, you can buy the suite of Microsoft Office - or you could opt to download a free alternative of the 'Office' program: LibreOffice or OpenOffice

If you bought the computer (and Microsoft Office) of HP.com at time of purchase, then contact HP Technical Support and you talk to a specialist of Post sale which can look up the details of your purchase.

  • Can satellite M70-337 - I put the HARD drive?

    Hi all,.

I have a Satellite M70-337, the vehicle currently has 40 GB of hard drive. The laptop has served me well and I want to upgrade the hard drive 100 GB +, anyone has done this?

If Yes please advise on the type of hard drive required and their availability. I have 2 GB of RAM and want to run Windows 7 on this computer.

    Hey mate,

Of course you can upgrade the HARD drive why not? :)

AFAIK Equium M70 already use hard drives with Serial ATA interface. This means that you must buy a 2.5 HARD drive with this interface.
For example, a 120 GB model should work!

In my view, it is irrelevant, what type (manufacturing) that you choose. There is no major differences, but I have good experiences with Western Digital.

  • HP 355 G2: Camera and Microphone not recognized on laptop HP 355 G2 (JOY62EA #ABU)

I bought this laptop on 13 August 2015, but I managed to fix my Samsung laptop & kept the HP in its unused box as a spare.

I decided to upgrade to Windows 10 before July 29 but before I did I checked the laptop to make sure that everything worked and now I find that the webcam internal or the internal microphone works.

In Device Manager it is not an audio inputs and outputs, nor is there an entry for Imaging devices & YouCam5 says also that there is no webcam connected.

Video controllers & audio game it shows

    AMD High definition Audio Device

    CyberLink WebCam driver virtual

    Realteck Audio Definition High

All three are displayed as smoothly and drivers are shown as being up-to-date.

After trying many fixes, I came to the conclusion that it is a hardware failure, unless anyone knows differently.

If I upgraded to Windows 10 & then send it to repair will be HP accept for repair because I can't turn round before July 29.

P.S. The laptop is in his out-of-the-box factory status not being hit & no added software.

Any suggestion will be welcome, thank you for reading my post.

    @Caravanj

Create your recovery for existing installation media.

If you can get the system to migrate to Windows 10, the "digital license" for Windows 10 will be registered for you by Microsoft.

You can, if you wish, to migrate to Windows 10 and then use the "Back" feature to "undo" migration.  Your digital license is still in 'security' when you are migrating (yet) at a later date.  If you "turn" the computer will return to its original Operating Sytem - no worries for repair.

You can install Windows 10 later with the following caveats:

If the motherboard is replaced, it is likely to be a problem with activation - motherboard is part of Microsoft digital key management.  This does not mean that you can never go back to Windows 10; This means that you need to maybe talk to Microsoft and explain your situation.  At the very least, you may have to go through the "phone activation" - not painful, just painful and a lot of typing.

If you are migrating, and then the 'return' feature hesitate (fail), use your recovery media (as you did) to retrieve the original installation.
