Same autopopulates URL in the bar addresses regardless of history, bookmarks.

When I type the first 'w' to a web address in the address bar, a web address autopopulates which is not in the drop-down list, navigation history or bookmarks. The same address fills each time and only with a 'w' of the first "www" address. I tried to delete history and cookies, reset Firefox and re-install, but the problem persists. The only way I found to stop it is to set preferences for privacy for location bar suggestions to think about anything, but removing a feature I find useful. The only thing I did not remove my Firefox profile. I use a Mac OS 10.8.4.

You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

    Yes, the bar is set on "history and bookmarks. Yes, I tried the mode safe without success.

    Are there other methods of troubleshooting? Only like 2-3 sites appear and they never change. Semi-automatic seems to work perfectly, and my story is saved correctly if I hit CTRL-H.

    I solved the problem by following these steps:

    (1) uninstall Firefox completely.
    (2) install Chrome.
    (3) forget Firefox exists and move on with your life.

  • With 33.0, why can not directly enter a URL in the box address?

    Until 32.0.3 (I am scrupulous on the explicitly download updates of Firefox manually), everything was more or less OK. I first encountered the problem w / my main PC under Windows 7, during the last week, I noticed that I could not type a URL in the box and go directly to this site. Now I did the updates on the other three PCs and two of them, I had the presence of mind to test this issue. On a PC Lubuntu (Linux) and another box of Windows 7, the address box becomes inert * after * the 33.0 update and NO OTHER CHANGES (for Adobe Flash, Firefox configuration, regardless.)

    To manually enter a URL, type the address in the box run that works in both environments. If the current tab is empty, then Firefox will use. Otherwise, Firefox opens a new tab to visit the site. This behavior has been confirmed on both platforms.

    I looked for traces of this ANYWHERE in my PC, but cannot find it.

    Install this addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/

    This module is very simple: when installing, it backs up then resets your search and preferences of the home page to their default values, and then to uninstall. This affects the search bar, search bar URL, and the home page.

  • URL of the site disappears from the bar address, just says "go to a Web site.

    After a window has been opened for awhile, the url is no longer displayed. The only way I can get it is to go to another site and then click the arrow to the left. The tab of the window indicates that Mozilla Firefox. This does not happen with all sites, maybe 60 percent.

    This sounds like it will take some troubleshooting to figure out. The first thing to try is to start Firefox in Mode safe and see if the problem goes away. To start Safe Mode, quit Firefox, and then hold down the Option key while starting it. • URL decode the mailing addresses for PHP

    Hello

    I had a php programmer write me a script to download information from a local real estate Board and it works very well, but we had to have it download in a xml file using urlencode in php (there were characters in lists which caused problems - ie. > < & "").

    Anyway, now I'm the analysis of information in flash and still left with some signs '+' between the street names (IE. Bear + Mountain Road).

    I tried to add:

    var loadVars:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    loadVars.decode (i.attributes.street);
    trace (i.Attributes.Street);

    in my actionscript, but I always find myself with 'Bear + Mountain Road.'

    I suppose that the function of "decode" does not work to remove '+' signs, or I am using the wrong thing.

    Any ideas?

    Right now it seems to be ONLY '+' sign, even if there is a way to search for the attribute and remove them would be great!

    You can remove them by using the string flash methods:

    Votrechaine = yourstring.split ("+").join("");

  • How to restore the bar «File, Edit, View, history...» » ? Gary

    I use Ref Desk as my page home of Firefox and removed somehow my 'tool' (?) bar with File, Edit, View, history, Favorites, tools, and help at the top of the Ref Desk page. I want to restore it.

    For more information about how to restore, see the what happened to the file, edit and view menus? article.

    It might have something to do with a change that I did yesterday. I followed some instructions that said to go to TOOLS, then click on clear Cache. Now it isn't a bar on the top of my screen anymore to go back and click on 'tools' (or something else). I went into the Panel and did a 'point-to-point anterior restoration' (restore the computer to an earlier date) but it was not good. What can I do to recover things?

  • Why is that now, when I click on a link for a Web site I have saved, it does NOT show the URL in the address bar? I don't and then drag it to an email to share the link.

    How is it that, in these new versions of Firefox (I have 21.0), when I opened a link that I recorded, it does NOT display the URL in the bar of addresses?

    I can't drag and drop the link in an email, and I don't see the actual address that I'm connected to for reference OR for security reasons. Why is - this has changed?

    It becomes necessary to reveal the properties of the URL link that I saved, by using the 'Properties' window, then copy and paste the URL in the address bar of Firefox, until I can do something with it.

    I had the same problem. Looked at all the addons and extensions referred to in the conversation between philipp and dadmr. All extensions and plugins off and on again with each shot. Problem has been resolved by disabling app 1.0.85 Goodshop and RealDownloader 1.3.2.28. It may be that these versions were outdated, but were postponed during the upgrade from previous versions of Firefox. I hope this helps.

  • favicons in the bar not updated to address

    My apologies in advance for not having all in computer science. I've updated to version 28 yesterday. All seemed well until we have experienced an internet outage in my service area. I received notification of NetGear he had problems with my DSL. The NetGear site displayed a blue capital N as their favorite. I rebooted the computer last night and there was still a failure. The service was restored this morning, but when I rebooted my computer and started firefox then went to the history and restored my last session to go, almost all the small icons in front of the URL for the displayed addresses of Netgear N as the favorite. A few sites Web (Google Maps, genetic restoration and Mozilla Support) displays the favorite icon that I know is associated with them. Curiously, favicons of websites of bookmarks drop-down menu display correctly. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this problem.

    When the error with DSL has occurred, it might be that Mozilla saved at the last browsing session. Mozilla could have saved the favicon of "N" in history. When the session has been restored, "N" icons dominate the pages.

    A new session running could solve this problem!
