  Have you tested the two left with other USB devices USB ports. That is to say USB flash stick?

  I have an ipod classic and only recently (Christmas 2015 day) itunes has ceased to recognize when my ipod is connected to my laptop. However, I know I tried three cables work because the ipod screen shows that it is connected and my laptop opens the file for my ipod, but this does not add to the music on it.   I recently bought a SanDisk memory stick and have tried insert in all USB ports on laptop to my HP Probook 4540 (Windows 7) but anything that happens, not even a notofication to unrecognized device damaged no matter what. Have searched the net for possible solutions and followed instructions to look in the Device Manager. It does not appear in the computers tab Device Manager, but in the "Other devices" tab, there are yellow for warning / exclamation symbols next to "Base system device". I right click on the Base system device and properties and it say the following:

  The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

  There is no driver selected for the item or a set of device information.

  To find a driver for this device, click Update driver.

  Have you tried 'Update Driver' but he said just that no driver can not be found. Would like to get this sort once for all posed the same question problems when I plug my Samsung Galaxy S3 at my Probook too. Would be recognizing all of the useful comments!

  The problem that arises is actually a USB 3.0 port.

  But, when I plug-in the hard disk into a USB 3.0 port (two port supports USB 3.0 is active in the BIOS) Windows does not recognize it and I can't access it.

  The hard disk led flashes, so it has the power, but does not appear in the devices or Device Manager.
  My opinion is that the problem may be with the drivers for USB, but Toshiba is supported for driver for USB 3.0 for Windows 8.1.

  Intel USB 3.0 driver is part of the 8.1 Windows System... This is not supplied by Toshiba.

  Windows 7 contains no such USB 3.0 driver and so you can download driver Intel USB 3.0 page of the Toshiba driver as well as the Intel download site.

  By the way: try to disable the functionality of sleep & Charge and check how the HARD drive would work.

  I'll have you to answer a few questions to understand exactly what is happening:

  1. When the iPhone is connected to the laptop, there is no pay?
  2. When the iPhone is connected to the laptop, it appears in Device Manager?
  3. ITunes is installed?

  If she is not charged when it is connected, it is possible that the cable you are using is not working properly, and you may need a replacement. Alternatively, the iPhone itself is having a few problems.
