Satelite A wake up from Hibernate wihle lid is closed

I saw this question posted everywhere here and all over the web with no answer. Those who contacted Toshiba and paid not received a response. It is of course common but there is no solution that I can find.

With my laptop into hibernation, if I close the lid, it will often turn on automatically as if the switch is loose. I don't always find this until I get out my laptop and the laptop is very hot, battery for most dead and the password of the screen. "Wake we ' ALL options are disabled (LAN, etc.). If I leave the laptop in hibernation with the lid open for a day, to turn on itself, tells me that's put anything external, running. It's obviously something triggering the laptop to think that the lid was reopened when the lid is closed. HOW can this be disabled?

I can't find another brand that has the same question. The BIOS doesn't have an option to not wake up the lid open. The software doesn't have an option to not wake up the lid open. Put a rubber band around it or leave the battery is NOT a solution. Y at - it a real solution to this problem with the hardware from Toshiba? If I it hibernates, close the lid, open the lid, let it restart the password then press on turn off there even if I open and close the lid several times. Obviously, logic exists somewhere to do so. Setting hibernate on press the button does not solve the problem.

Thank you.

    Hello

I guess there are a lot of people with problems to wake up their computer after hibernation, but they are at least able to restart their computer and do work well.

My problem is that he's been on the hibernation, and it no longer starts. When I press the power button (who usually wakes up my laptop into hibernation), the power button lights up for a second, then turns off. The laptop does not even try to start.

    I tried solutions:
-Pressing and holding pressed the connected power supply button, to 15 years.
-Pressing and holding pressed the connected power supply button, since the 1960s.
-Pressing and holding down the power button without a power supply connected, to 15 years.
-Pressing and holding down the power button without a power supply connected, since the 1960s.
-Removal of the chips of RAM and going through the 4 above.
-Remove the HARD drive and going through the 4 above.
-Remove the RAM and HARD drive and going through the 4 above.
-Remove the CMOS battery without any power supply plugged (which requires a total strip down my laptop)

After all my attempts at DIY solutions, the power always button annoyingly turns on for a second and then turns off after that and nothing is accomplished.

Before I head to get a new laptop, I'd like to solve this problem. I've always used Hibernate and nothing like it never happened. Just a few days before this problem, sleep seems to work very well.

If it's any help, I use NEC Versa S940, Windows XP SP3 (I think) with 2 GB of RAM, 60 GB HDD. Any other information that will help you?

    Thank you! Appreciate any feedback!

With the laptop is as old as it is, you can be better save money to use on this new Acer :-)

I don't know if it's the MB, or possibly the power supply internal, but if she's not even power up to a POST screen or splash image something is bad wrong with it.

  • XP Pro, wakes up from Hibernate every day at the same time

As the title says... I put my XP Pro in Hibernate every morning before leaving the House.

If I don't turn it on again at night, the next morning when I wake up the computer is turned on. I watched it several times, as well as based on the same Viewer, it seems something is waking up to 22:58, and I can't understand what it is.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Some people don't know what is their motherboard and BIOS or how to know.

Sometimes, they have no idea what a Tasl scheduled is one or the other or how same find/glance at what they might have.

If you want to see what is the card mother and BIOS, follow these steps:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msinfo32

Click on OK and when the system info summary appears, click on Edition, select all, copy, and then paste the information here.

There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and anything that turns information private for you, simply delete the pasted information.

Then you know what is the motherboard and BIOS (and a few other good things) and can find manuals and documents on the wide Wide World of the Web and see what options and suggest appropriately and not be vague :)

If you think that the system's wake-up on LAN, you stop for the night, unplug your Internet cable and see if the system is running when check you it in the morning.

If you find the system that runs every morning and then when you disconnect the Internet cable and she wakes up no more, then he could wake up on the local network, if you know where to look and not guess what it might be (now you know the motherboard and BIOS according to the previous information).

If you want to know about all the tasks planned and not guess if she can be a scheduled task, follow these steps:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window.

In the command window enter the following command to display the scheduled task, their new race, etc. :

    schtasks/query

Then you can capture the results to a text file with this command

    schtasks/query > tasks

Open the file tasks with any text editor, select all the text, copy and paste here and you'll learn about all scheduled tasks.

If you see a scheduled task ran or about 22:58 to understand what it is and do something for this task (disable or tell him don't not to wake the computer).

There is also a log file of scheduled task that you can watch to see what happens with scheduled tasks:

    c:\windows\SchedLgu.txt

File schedule tasks is probably clutterd with a bunch of junk, making it difficult to interpret, so make a new log as follows:

    Stop the Task Scheduler Service.

Click on start, settings, Control Panel, administrative tools, services and locate the Task Scheduler Service and stop it.

Remove or rename the scheduled task probably cluttered log file that is usually found here:

    c:\windows\SchedLgu.txt

Restart the Task Scheduler service to create a new journal (it's just a text file) and verify that a new log file has been created and that it looks like this:

    "Task Scheduler service".

  • Satellite L10-187 wakes up when the lid is closed

I got this Toshiba Satellite L10-187 for a few years now, and since I bought it I had problems with it to wake up even if the lid is closed.
Suspended or hibernation is not serious, he always wakes.

More annoying is when I have it in my backpack and I noticed that the battery has been drained, when I want to use the computer.

    Is this a known issue?

    Hello

L10 is old enough laptop model and if you noticed from the first day, I wonder why you waited so long time and didn't search for solution before. In any case, enter the BIOS settings and disable Wake up on LAN option. As far as I know wake up the system can also be result of active Windows update Service. Disable it.

Please disable both options and report us what happens now.

I can't say much on battery. Just a question: is the battery just when the laptop is in sleep/hibernation mode or this will happen even if the laptop is turned OFF?

  • Satellite don't wake up from sleep or hibernation when the lid is closed

It is a problem that I had with my laptop from the outset - if the laptop is in sleep or Hibernate mode and the lid is closed, or the lid is closed and will switch "standby" from there, it won't wake up or respond to the switch once again opened.

Even holding down the power button has no effect, the only way to turn it back on is to remove the battery, put it back and turn the phone back on, lose anything I had opened.

I fear that the laptop could be damaged by this, but there is no other way.
This isn't a problem with the settings of windows, I had the same problem with the function suspends in ubuntu.

Anyone had similar problems or know anything than either could have caused this?

What model of Satellite L do you have exactly?
What system is pre-installed? Have you tested this problem with laptop recovery fees?

BIOS is up to date? If it is not updated in the BIOS.
After update BIOS, set the default BIOS and test the features of the laptop.

  • Inspiron 17R SE 7720 wake from its slumber when the lid is closed through the usb keyboard/mouse

So I have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 which has all of the latest drivers with BIOS A11 (Win 7 Ultimate x 64)...  I have all the settings properly configured for sleep power (no hibernation), however no matter what I try, I can't get the laptop to wake up when the lid is closed through USB keyboard.

I use a combo of MK560 Wave from Logitech (unifying receiver) - keyboard and mouse have the wake-up option enabled in the settings of their material.  I also wake up from USB enabled in the BIOS.

What is interesting is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can do/wake it from Logitech devices.  With the lid closed, I can only do sleep - the only way to wake up, he is to open the cover and press the power button.

Anyone know a solution to this?

    Cliffs Notes:

Cover open: CAN sleep/wake from USB keyboard/mouse

Cover closed: can sleep ONLY - don't wake up if I open the Start button / cover & press

It seems that a new A13 BIOS was released on 18 March, all it says in the section '' correction '' is to "maintain the release." Download it now and see if it fixed more on the question of the USB.

  • Inspiron 15R (5537) wake from its slumber when the lid is closed through the usb keyboard/mouse

I have an Inspiron 15R (5537) which has all the latest drivers from Dell BIOS A01 Reference (Windows 8). I have the options of closing the lid set to "do nothing" for the two battery and plugged in, but no matter what I try, when the lid is closed I can't the laptop to wake up via USB keyboard or mouse.
The keyboard and mouse have the wake-up option enabled in the settings of their material.  I also wake up from USB enabled in the BIOS.
What is interesting, is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can wake him up from the keyboard or the mouse.  But with the lid closed, the only way to wake up, it should open the cover and press the power button.
Anyone know a solution to this?
    Summary:
Cover open: CAN wake from USB keyboard/mouse.
Cover closed: don't wake up if I open the lid and press the power button.

    Pete,

Depending on where you live, you will have the rights of consumers.  I live in Australia and we have pretty good consumer protection.

I asked Dell - repair, replace it with one that works, or pay back me.

They went away for a few weeks, and when I "called home" a few times, they acknowledged that they could not solve the problem and offered me a full refund. The laptop was picked up yesterday and I expect the refund within about five days. The guy on my "case" has been very professional!

I guess that you informed Dell FORMALLY of the problem via a support ticket?

I did that and followed by chat and phone calls.

Whist, the ability to wake up via USB is not explicitly described in any of their literature, the bios has available and W8.1 has the facility.  they built it all - EXCEPT that they forgot the lid...

  • Satellite Pro A100 spontaneous wake up from hibernation or standby

    Hello world

Since a few days my Satellite Pro A100 automatically wake up from hibernation mode
(and last night mode ensures too)

I don't have any in features (such as LAN or USB) wake up, as far as I know, that these features are not yet present in my current BIOS version (1.50).

The wake-up generally occurs with peripheral No. or LAN cables connected.

I used the hibernation mode without any problems for over two years on this laptop.
So I think that it is a hardware problem, for example something related to the power button or the close button of cover.

Is it possible to completely disable the close lid button? PowerSaver to disable for example l ' hibernation on the cover, but I don't seem to be able to turn OFF the alarm on the LID.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or comments

    Hello!

Well, in your case, I would try first to update the BIOS. You can find it on the Toshiba site:

If it doesn t work, please contact an authorized service provider. Technicians you can check laptop because then it looks like a LID switch problem.

  • Satellite A10 is necessary for well wake up from hibernation

My Satellite A10 takes about nine minutes to Hibernate when the lid is closed, but the computer start faster when you press the Start button. Energy saving mode has been implemented correctly for the hibernation.

    Hello Terry,

The hibernation feature works by copying the current contents of the RAM to the hard disk so that when the laptop is powered on the contents of the RAM can be restored and CANM unit and continue to operate as it did before being closed. This is different from the day before where the contents of the RAM is held in RAM and is maintained by battery or AC power.

The Hibernate feature takes longer to call because of the time taken to write the contents of the RAM to the hard drive. The actual time required will depend on the amount of RAM you have installed, and also what processes and applications you run when you call Hibernate.

If the actual time is too long then this could indicate that your hard drive may have some attention (cleanup and defragmentation) or the drive itself has problems (bad sectors), causing it to start over read/write operations as it attempts to Hibernate. I suggest that you try to clean the disc and then running CHKDSK to check if the drive is physically OK.

    Hello

    Here's the quickfix.

Set the laptop to sleep instead of Hibernate. Portable computers may have problems with the Hibernate function. Here are the instructions to navigate:

    2. double-click on the icon power options

    3. click on "change when the computer sleeps.

Go to the menu of sleep and

    value "Allow hybrid sleep": OFF

    * Set the parameter "Hibernate after": NEVER

Note: You need to type the following in the field, what is not there drop down to select.

This is most likely the issue and the resolution. However, here are a few other troubleshooting steps if you have any questions:

    Hi there, Adamskiodp!

Thank you for joining the communities Support from Apple! I know how it is of course the computer is not important 'awakening to the top' at random times on its own. Without knowing what you have tried so far to solve problems, I suggest to try the steps in this article:

If your Mac does not sleep or wake up when expected - Apple supports

If your Mac wakes up suddenly

Your Mac can wake up to these activities:

    • Network activity that uses the wake on demand. Examples of network iTunes sharing activity, sharing photos, printer sharing, file sharing and using back to my Mac.
    • Enhanced notifications of FaceTime, Messages and other applications and services.
    • Bluetooth activity. To prevent Bluetooth devices to wake up your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Bluetooth. Click the Advanced button, and then deselect "allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer".

Try safe mode if your Mac does not start-up.

This boot can isolate issues on the startup disk. If these steps do not work, try the procedure described in this article:
