Satellite 1110 - memory expansion

I have a portable Satellite 1110. It came with 256 MB of Ram which I have increased recently to 512 MB by adding another module of memory in an empty slot. Specifications of the machine mean I can increase to a maximum of 512 MB Ram, so I already use the ability.

Is there a way I could increase the Ram by using the PCM/CIA or the USB ports? Or is the capability of the motherboard and I could only increase it up to the given only limit?

Hello

You have answered the question yourself.

The max is 512 MB.

Kind regards

    Hey Barca

As far as I know, you can improve the size of the memory on your laptop to max 512 MB Ram (2 x 256 MB).
On this unit are 2 slots available and you can use PC1600 SDRAM.
In addition, these memory modules are supported:

    PC2100 128 MB (PA3126U - 1 M 12)
    PC2100 256 MB (PA3127U - 1 M 25)

Anyone know of any manufacturers approved for computers laptop toshiba because I can't find the type of memory required on the site of components electronic toshiba?

    Sorbet

    Hello sorbet

I found the information that your laptop can handle with 512 MB max. I guess that your device already has 256 MB. You can use the second 256 MB module and put it in a second slot.

Part number for the module memory of 256 MB is PA3127U - 1. 25 M.

  • Satellite 1110-Z12: CD-Rom drive will not play copy controlled CD

    Hello

The CD-Rom drive in my Toshiba Satellite 1110-Z12 (bought 01/2003 in Holland) becomes completely unreadable when I insert a CD protected by "Controlled copy" (IFPI). And I mean, berserk, he upped power at an incredible speed of spinning - very strong - and afraid he will break down.

These are mainly EMI productions such as:
    -Norah Jones: Feels Like Home
    -Joss Stone: The soul Sessions.

I know that these copy protection systems can never break or damage the use on CD players (standalone or computer).

How can this be repaired? I never found the firmware update for the CD player on the Toshiba site.

As much as I m did know, is it possible that the General of music that are "Controlled copy" by IFPI do not work in the drive of your laptop.

  • Recovery disk will not start on Satellite 1110

I try to use the recovery on a Satellite 1110 CD. I want to just install fresh Windows. The necessary files are supposed to be on the Toshiba recovery CD that accompanies it.

So I did what the brochure says, and booted up the laptop to the top with the correct CD in the drive, while pressing 'C '. The notebook ignored the CD ROM and loaded Windows as usual. I repeated three times, each time that the CD ROM whirs a bit but will not start and Windows loads as usual. I have replaced 'C' for F12, chose the CD ROM drive in the list and repeat the process several times. Yet once it wouldn't boot from the CD-ROM.

I looked at the content of the CD ROM A single MB 447. File of the GHS. The file icon is that generic type "Windows does not know what program this icon is intended to" deals.

Google believes it is a ghost file and must the ghost installed to run it. This bitch never came with Ghost.

Anyone here knows a remedy to this problem?

(NB - I tried clean Windows system restore option, but it just brings back me to September this year. Theres no option that was more early in life for portable computers)

I am in the United Kingdom, and is a UK machine if that makes a difference.

    Hello Micha

Is this your ODD works properly with the operating system?

I put really know what exactly is happening here, but please make sure that you start with recovery CD number 1/2 2/2. The installation of recovery, you can just start with the first recovery CD. Also try please set CD-ROM as firs boot device in the BIOS.

    Hello

It is the first time I heard of this problem.
For me it looks like a hardware malfunction and I don t think you will solve it by yourself. In my opinion you need an expert and the only way is to contact the Toshiba service partner in your country. He can start the diagnostic test and it can give you an appropriate response.

  • Keyboard/mousepad does not on Satellite 1110

I have an old satellite 1110. It is a dual boot with linux and windows XP machine. The Boot Manager is grub.
When I let the machine start the OS default without touching the keyboard at the stage of grub, about 70% of the time when the finishing of the machine to start the keyboard and mouse will be non-functional. However if I use the upper and down arrows to grub stage, 100% of the time to keyboard and mouse mat work correctly when the machine finishes booting.

I'm trying to understand why this would be so. It does not seem to relate to the involved BONE, just the physical manipulation of the keyboard. Is it a bad connection due to lack of chip, bios or other software problem?

Check it by using the Fn + F9 key combination. If this combination does not work, try to find the power button function in Control Panel-> mouse control
By the way; have you tested If reinstalling the touchpad driver could help solve this problem?

  • Satellite 1110-Z15: this DVD-/ + RW discs are compatible

I had problems with the CD/DVD combo drive in my 3 yr old Satellite 1110-Z15 laptop and I'm looking to upgrade to a DVD burner instead of simply replacing it as for.

Can someone tell me what DVD-/ + RW discs are compatible with this model?

    Thank you.

    Hello

You will be very happy if someone can give you that info. In any case, for the hardware update is responsible for service Toshiba partners. If anyone knows what compatible player is, as service partners.

Another solution is to use the external drive. It allows you to use the most recent one that burns all formats available on the market. The problem is that your camera has USB 1.0 only and no firewire port.

  • Satellite 1110-Z15 starting problems...

I have a Satellite 1110-Z15. Got some problems that occur when starting up. What happens is - go on, seems to work very well, the XP loading screen comes up, but just before it gets to the part where it asks you to log in it restarts and the whole process begins again and again and again...

Any ideas? Not really want to lose all my data :(

    Hello

have you checked the Mode function without failure of Windows XP Home edition?

During booting press the F8 key (between the Toshiba Logo and the WinXP splash screen) then you can choose Safe Mode.

Starts with the parameters of Safe Mode WinXp default driver you could to see if a pilot or a registry is damaged.

  • Satellite 1110-Z15: problem with Recovery CD and DVD player

    I currently have a Satellite 1110 model number PS111E-006R8-EN/S1110-Z15.
But a few weeks ago, my DVD Rom drive no longer works, it would not run properly when a cd is inserted it kind of Jolt and then arrested and continues to do the same. Anyway to cut a long story short, I tried to rebuild the system by using a version of windows xp that has been successful, it is now, I found the original recovery disks, but without using the cd drive inward, I had recourse to an external cd drive freecom, I hold the c key at startup , but nothing happens, can anyone help emergency
PS: I made the changes in the Bios to boot from the cd drive

    Hi nichollsr,

in our society, we have 2 Satellite 1110-Z15, and there is a delicate hint for recovery.

Toshiba has made a small mistake and printed the wrong order on the CD. You only need to change the order of the Recovery CD. No.. 1 is no. 2 and vice versa.

Insert the diskette n ° 2, hold down the 'C' key and the recovery is expected to begin. If your laptop does not identify external drive-Freecom CD try to hold the 'U' key to boot from USB.

I found a FAQ on the site of Toshiba UK

    Hello

I have a Satellite 1110 (at the level of the Bios 1.2) and wanted to install a Trust 3 Port USB 2.0 Cardbus adapter http://www.trust.com/products/product.aspx?artnr=12918.

The problem is that the system completely freezes and nothing happens when the card is inserted.

I'm always looking for how to change the IRQ setting, but impossible to find a solution.

A problem is that I can't pass the Bios to 1.5 because my floppy drive is broken does not work. -> Y at - it a possiblity to bring in the Bios 1.5 without floppy?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Gibson is absolutely right. Sometimes it's dangerous update BIOS and you can ruin the entire system. To use this device exists in the traditional version just and do it with a floppy disk.

I hope that the installation is done as described in the manuals of the card.

  • How do I reinstall Win XP on Satellite 1110

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite 1110 PS111E and I want complite reinstall my system because there are several mistakes and work unstable.
I have the drive XP SP2 Home Edition, identical to installed on Toshiba.

Can I do a full reinstall and how (as on computer standart?)

And another question: System Restore is the same?

Yes, the procedure is almost the same as for a standard computer. Insert the disc to install operating system and start him.
After successful installation, you just need to install all the necessary drivers and utilities.

Everything you need can be found here:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

But I don't know what you mean by ' system restores the same?
Programs to use again, you need to install the first to use them. And you need to back up important data, before you reinstall Windows.

  • Satellite 1110: Secondary display does not work

    I have a satellite 1110
Connection of a monitor second - does not work
The settings are correct in what, move your mouse off the screen of the laptop and he enters the secondary monitor - but this monitor is empty
Tried all the normal things - control work? Yes etc.
I'm running XP Professional could be corrupted or is it more likely to do with my laptop

Please someone help - new monitor for Christmas - just can't make it work

    Thank you

    Hello Nick

According to your description, you can't write that the second display doesn t work. Of course, you have activated the option called extend my Windows desktop on this monitor. In this case, you can remove all windows laptop for external monitor screen.

If you work with more different windows on this way, your work will be more comfortable. I assume that you do want this and it will be interesting to know how you want to use the secondary display:
    -secondary display only
-but both with the same point of view?

Remove the scope option and use the FN + F5 key combination and choose display to use.
