Satellite 1130-Z25 - replacement hard drive

Could someone please advise how do I replace the internal hard drive on my old z25 1130 (satellite).

Thank you

Paul

I don't have this old machine but check it please if you can find the HARD drive cover on the underside. If so, remove it and you should have full access to the HARD disk.
Try to get this old IDE (I think) HARD drive and swap it.

  • System recovery satellite M50 after replacing HARD drive

    Hello

The drive of my laptop Satellite M50 becomes rather clicky and looks like it's on its way. Replacing, it will not present any problems, but I will replace it with a drive of at least double the capacity of origin.

At one point, I had installed a Linux system and when I tried to reinstall my Windows system on a partition that is smaller than the entire recovery cd disk threw a wobbly and refused to proceed as it did not recognize the hardware profile of my portable computer, that the drive was too small.

I expect the same thing to be true once I upgraded the HARD drive.

How can I avoid this problem?

    Thanks in advance

I would like to clone the old drive if it is an option.

  • Satellite 1130-z24: upgrade hard drive question

    Hello

I have a toshiba Satellite 1130 - z24, which requires a new hard drive, the old man is a MK2108GAP of 20 GB but I want to set up a larger capacity drive. What is the record of the maximum size that I can use without any problems of compatibility?

One of the following players would work?

    MK6034GAX 60 GB
    MK8026GAX 80 GB
    100 GB MK1032GAX

I searched on various forums and websites, but the only information I can find is that the BIOS will not support the discs above a certain size, but I don't know how it is.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hello

I think that good old classic supports IDE controller.

The IDE controller manages max 128 GB HDD due to support of the 28-bit LBA.

So in your case, I would recommend choosing a HARD disk that is not longer than 120GB
so, theoretically the 100 GB MK1032GAX should be compatible

    Hello

I had replaced a lot of Toshiba notebook hard drives and HARD drive is normally very easy to remove!

Turn on the laptop and look for a flap that is a little larger than a HARD drive! (It can also be on the side of the cover!)

When you remove the flap, you should see the HARD drive in a cage that is plugged! Remove with caution!

    That's all

  • Satellite M70-337 - replacement hard drive

    Hello

I need to replace the hard drive on my laptop. When the news is in place, it will be just a case of running the product recovery disc to get me and run again.

Also, what would be the maximum size drive, it will take, and what kind I need. I guess it is a SATA.

    Thank you.

I have the Satellite M70-159. It's the same as your. I can say for sure, you need driver SATA. I tested the 250 GB HARD drive on my laptop and it works perfectly. I'm 99.9% sure that you can use the HARD drive with 250 GB capacity more, but I think that 250 GB is enough.

Replacement is very easy and you can do it in 5 minutes. Simply remove the HARD drive down coverage and you will see how it works.
When the new drive is inside just put original recovery media in the optical disc drive and install WXP.
If you do not, you can install what you want. In case you want to use Microsoft installations CD all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can download at Toshiba page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com for assistance

    Hello

someone at - it a guide or tips on how to replace the hard drive on a 1100-z6. I know where its located but may not work on how the laptop breaks to give me access to the drive.

    Thank you

    Darren

Well, it is just a little more old laptop and so I put t found a lot of information in the net on the replacement but I'll try to help you.
As far as I know to replace the HARD drive, you must first remove:
Battery, keyboard, LED board, top cover, then HARD drive.

To remove the HARD drive, follow the steps:
    1. remove the two screws from the HARD drive.
2 remove the HARD drive forward to release it from the connector on the system board and get out of its Bay.
    3. remove the four screws of the support of the HARD disk on the HARD disk.
    4. lift the HARD drive carrier.

    It may be useful

HD can be read partly with recovery software (Active@undelete) and made too many bad noises.

BIOS version is 5.10 (Phoenix TrustedCore)

Thans in advance for any help.

    Kind regards

    Leo

In your Satellite A100 HDD is SATA 1 and it was delivered with 120 GB max.
I tested my old Satellite M70 260 GB SATA HARD drive and it works perfectly, so I think that you can now pass HDD with up to 300 GB for example.
Attention to not only Toshiba HDD but high quality product from any other HARD drive manufacturer.

    Hello

You need to create the own recovery in the past disc!
This recovery disk allows you to install the Toshiba image after the HARD drive is dead or has been replaced.

In case you have not created this disk, it is possible to order this support:

  • Satellite L300D-10 q recovery DVD Can be used on the replacement hard drive?

    Hello

I was wondering if the DVD Recovery allows to install Vista on a replacement hard drive? The original hard drive is too small at 160 GB contain all the files that I use the virtual operating system image. The disk hard 500 GB of replacement must be large enough for that.

The reason why I need to Vista, it's that the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Ubuntu 8.04.1 and 8.10, cause the fan to run at full speed all the time which is very annoying. So for the moment I can only use Linux in a virtual machine.

I intend to stay with Toshiba, though, as my two latest portable Toshiba Satellite a PII and a PIII still work today, and both have had Linux on them.

Now, back to my story, I intend to remove the existing laptop, hard drive use DVD recovery to install to external USB 500 GB disk, replace the existing hard drive in starting up the laptop from the USB and copy my data overall. Before you reformat the old drive as external storage, I will replace in the laptop with 500 GB drive and the test so I can boot from the new drive.

Key question will be the change of equipment, i.e. the new hard disk of 500 GB prevent Vista to install or activate?

    Thank you very much

Vista itself can handle huge HARD drive sizes, but the question is: the recovery disc will be happy with 500 GB? The laptop will recognize 500 GB?

I think it will work very well, because the new laptops are released with 320 HARD drive. 500 GB is not far.

Its a few trial and error unless anyone here has tested a disc 500 GB HARD themselves.

  • Satellite 1410 714 extremely slow after replacing HARD drive

    Hello

I have a Satellite 1410-714 which has had a hard drive failure. I replaced the drive, but now the computer is extremely slow. Windows has been reinstalled, it was really slow too much and now it takes minutes for windows to start.

I suspect that something might have broken on the motherboard and the hard disk. I checked mobo replacement parts, but have not found anything for-714, so a 1410 mobo compatible? This model has a processor celeron 1.8.

    Thanks for help.

    Hannu

    Hello

I can t think the motherboard is broken after replacing HARD drive.
I suggest updating the BIOS first. Maybe your old BIOS have a few problems with the most recent HARD drive.
Please check site driver Toshiba for the latest version of BIOS.

Have you used any anties Virus applications?

  • Satellite A60 - question of HARD drive replacement

I have an old Toshiba Satellite A60. The HARD drive died recently and I'm looking to replace it. I want to know what disk drive specification, the Toshiba Satellite A60 can support. It originally had a MK3025GAS
    HDD2196B ZE01 S 30 GB 2.5 "drive.

    1. I would like to replace it with a larger capacity drive. What is the capacity (GB) and speed the A60 can bear?

    2. do I need to replace it with a toshiba drive or can I use any other 2.5 "drive (Seagate, Fujitsu, etc...)?

    Hello

As far as I know the old Satellite A60 supports one IDE controller.
This means that you must use a 2.5 IDE (ATA) HARD drive.
As far as I know the older IDE controller are limited to 128 GB with 28-bit LBA (address logic bit).
Then maybe you should start with a 120 GB HDD, which must be compatible, even if the controller would be limited to 128 GB.

But standard ATA-6 (also called TONGA-100) does support 48 bit LBA in this case, it is not limited to 128 GB. You can check controller HARD drive using tools such as SANDRA or Everest Home Edition freeware soft for the information on the controller built in the A60.

    > 2. Do I need to replace it with a toshiba drive or can I use any other disk 2.5 "
You can use any HARD drive that meets the requirements (IDE, 2.5)

  • Satellite Pro 2100: How do I reinstall the OS after replacing HARD drive

I have a Toshiba SP2100 and I want to replace the hard drive, but I don't have any recovery CD
So, how can I put the o/s back on?

Try to connect the external HARD drive to the computer via the USB port and try to copy all content from the internal HARD disk external HARD drive. Then you could try to insert the external HARD drive in the laptop.
But I've never tried this procedure and don t know if it will work.

But usually after replacing HARD drive you should boot from the Boot CD as recovery CD or the original CD of Microsoft Windows.
After the installation of clean Windows OS, you can visit the Toshiba drivers and you can download and install the drivers of Toshiba and utilities.

  • Satellite C870 - 1 K 1 and replacing hard drive

    Hello

I would like to replace the hard drive of wonderful this notebook with a hard disk of 500 GB 750.
How should I proceed with the Windows installed on the original hard drive, the migration to the new.
I do not have a CD ROM of Windows 8, was not included when I bought the laptop

Thanks for your help and suggestions...
    Greetings

    Lambert (Belgium)

If you use your laptop with an original operating system preinstalled, you can create recovery media using pre-installed recovery media creator tool. After replacing HARD drive, you can use this media and reinstall the original recovery image.

After that your laptop will again have to factory settings.

  • Satellite M30-604 - mechanical hard drive failure

My satellite M30 604 is guaranteed (bought 10 months ago) and my Hitachi travelstar hard drive crashed unexpectedly. The accident is probably mechanical, so I can't use data recovery software (makes things worse). The only way to get my data is to give the HD a specialist who will open in a 'white room' for something like 300-600 Euros (!) and try to recover as much as possible. Now:

-> Toshiba said that if I do that, the guarantee is void and I will also have to pay for a new disk (100 euros)

-> If I want to replace the disk (warranty) then toshiba Gets the old drive and I lose my data forever!

    WAIT A MINUTE GUYS!

    (a) it's my data, my work and you CAN'T make me blackmailing you with such things 'warranty void. I want my old crushed drive back! I want to try to recover as much as I can! my 10 hour work - someday is here!

    (b) Moreover even if the heads of the drive crashed, my PERSONAL, PRIVATE data are always in the disk and CAN be read with special techniques. How toshiba (or any other company for that matter) asking me to give it to them?

    What should I do?
    What would you do?

    Hello
I sympathize with your problem and can suggest only the following reflections:

    1. the recovery of your data seems the most important factor here. I suggest you to remove the HARD drive so that it can be sent to a specialist to retrieve data are possible.

    2. Since the removal of the disc HARD not not usually involves a broad dismantling of Notepad it should not invalidate the remaining warranty (other than on the HARD drive itself).

3 replacement HARD drive can generally be obtained quite a beneficial one of internet sellers price (check using GOOGLE to a suitable replacement). You can then reinstall your OS recovery CD.

    4. I suggest investing in a bunch of backup software (such as Norton Ghost) to avoid this problem in the future. (I had four replacement hard drives on my Satellite A30 in the past 12 months).
