Satellite 1670CDS: is it possible to upgrade Win98 to WinXP?

Hello
I have a 1670CDS satellite.
He is about 5-6 years now.
It supports Win 98, and 32 MB of RAM.

Is there anyway I can install win xp on my laptop?

Thank you paul

Hello

Wow this is really an oldie from the stone age. :)
32 MB of memory is certainly not enough run the XP!

The laptop could be upgraded to external memory up to 160 MB (32 MB internal + 128 MB)
To my knowledge, the memory module 128 MB SDRAM 100 PC PA3005U could be used. I think that you will be able to run the XP with 160 MB of memory.

But to me, it's absurd! The XP will work, but performance would be incredible slow.
In addition the site of drivers Toshiba does not provide XP drivers!

I think it would not make sense to install Xp on this laptop

    Hello

Is it possible to upgrade of processor in this laptop (Pentium M 750-1866 MHz) Pentium M 780 2266 MHz?

    Thank you..

    Hello

Theoretically, it of possible to exchange the processor on your laptop, but nobody will be able to tell if the laptop works fine with the new processor or not.

You mustn't forget that the BIOS and motherboard is designed for the preinstalled CPU and it s not tested with another processor. Normally a newer or faster CPU produces more heat and I don t know if the Assembly of cooling on your laptop is sufficient for this.

If you still have the warranty of your laptop you will lose because Toshiba doesn't support the CPU upgrade:

    Hello.

I intend to buy the Satellite Pro A300 1NT, but want to make sure that I can not upgrade to Windows 7 and more specifically the characteristics of touch screen.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my question.

    Hello!

I think that no one can say whether the Satellite A300 compatible with Windows 7.
Windows 7 is not on the market yet, and I think it will take a few times to release.

And Satellite A300 doesn't have a touch screen, so I think that you cannot use these features on this laptop.

I wonder if anyone might know if it is possible to update by Satellite A10 CPU without changing other components. The laptop has CPU Celeron [R] 2.50 GHz 2.49 GHz, 752MB of RAM.

    Hello

If you look at the technical side, then it s surely possible.

But I can say such things why not:

-performance you earn is based on the costs you have marginal
-you lose your warranty if you open your machine and you want to dare the revocation of your warranty?
-the cooling system is aligned to your CPU, in addition, you will need to write such things as CPU microcode. If the tools to write this weird firmware are available for toshiba technicians and not us :(

I have tried several times with all my toshis and believe me: lose money and be disappointed is a very pleasant pastime :)

    Hi all

my computer is a Toshiba Satellite S2800-200 (old) and I wont to ask if it is possible to upgrade memory capacity and disk.

    Thank you

Of course you can upgrade these laptop parts.
The laptop seems to be equipped with an internal memory which is not removable.

According to the website above, you can use only one memory for an upgrade slot.
You can use the 144-Pin PC100 SODIMM 128 MB module. It's max.

I m not 100% sure on the HARD drive, but as I m not trunk not the laptop came with 10 GB HARD drive. Generally, a 20 GB HARD drive should be possible.

    Thank you

    Hello

I put t see no reason why it would not be possible to upgrade the OS to Win XP Pro.
You uprising received recovery Toshiba CD with WinXP home and all drivers and utilities was already preinstalled on this image.

If you want to upgrade the operating system, you can buy an original CD of Microsoft Windows XP Pro and you will need to install the drivers of Toshiba and utilities in the correct order. For most installation guide line is placed on the site driver of Toshiba.

I think that everything must be clear, that I forgot something. Windows XP Home and Pro uses the same drivers. Then you should be able to use the same drivers that are available on the page

    Good luck

    Hello!

Does anyone know: is it possible to upgrade the processor to the Satellite M70 - 354?

    Thank you

    Hello

Usually it of not possible to upgrade the processor.
Of course, some people here have managed to upgrade the processor, but following some functions and features as don t work module cooling.

I do not recommend upgrading the processor. No one knows if it runs correctly.
Some processors are welded on the map and there is no possibility to remove it.

This is why don t do if you are not sure it will work 100%!

  • Satellite L20-182: is it possible to upgrade processor?

Hello. I have a Toshiba Satellite L20 - 182 and I want to change the CPU.
My CPU is the Celeron M 380 (1.6 Ghz), and I want to install Pentium M.
    Can I do it?
If I can, can what Pentium M I install on my motherboard?
    Please answer me.

    Sebastian K., from the Poland

    Hello

Well, in general it of not possible to upgrade the processor.
Some processors are fixed mounted on the motherboard.
In addition, the processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package). It is a permanent connection method and is used in the interest of miniaturization and heat dissipation

    Just for info:
I found some Satellite L20 units which are supplied with different processors.
    For example:
    Satellite L20-204 Intel-Pentium-M (Dothan) 750 1.86GHz
    Satellite L20-214 Intel-Pentium-M (Dothan) 740 1.73GHz
    Satellite L20-300 Intel-Celeron-M (Dothan) 370 1.5GHz

  • Is satellite L450D-113 - possible to upgrade processor?

    Hello

I recently bought the Satellite L450D-113 and I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the processor.
The vehicle currently has the AMD Sempron and its unique core, so how could I go all upgrade to dual core. Also how much is it going to cost and can I do it myself?

Can someone help me and tell what I need to do to upgrade, or where I can buy a dual core CPU compatible?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think this Toshiba FAQ might help you.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

You'll find the info that the upgrade is not easy and maybe it s undesirable.
You can remove the CPU but there is no guarantee that the CPU will be compatible with the BIOS.

    See you soon

Is it possible to upgrade the C660D processor E-240 to an E-350.

    2 E-350 water supply?
    3. expected problems?

    Hey,.

Theoretically, it is possible to swap the CPU, but an upgrade is not supported by Toshiba. This means that you lose the warranty and no one can say if other types of CPU are supported or not because there is no list with other processors.

Can also make sure that the current fan and cooling module is good enough for better CPU?

  • Is it possible to upgrade the processor in a Satellite M40 - 101?

I have 479 pin provided Pentiuma® M 730 1.6 Ghz processor. It is insufficient for some tasks more. So I would like to upgrade CPU, but is it possible?

    Hello

Theoretically, it is possible to upgrade the CPU but practically it is not easy to do.
The M40 comes with different CPU's.
As far as I know, these processors has been used and are compatible:
    -Processor Intel Dothan (533 MHz)
    730 1.6 GHz
    740 1.73 GHz
    750 1.86 GHz
    760 2.0 GHz
    770 2.13 GHz

It seems that notebook was shipped with the first.
But believe me; No one can tell if the laptop can run successfully after the CPU upgrade.
As you probably know the faster and more powerful processor produces more heat and this could lead to overheating of the laptop.
In my view, this is a serious problem and you should be careful

By the way: Please check this thread. The risk of upgrading have been described very detailed:

  • Is it possible to upgrade CPU on my Satellite C

Is it possible to upgrade my processor AMD E1-1200 1.4ghtz what anyone faster than that,
I want to be able to play FIFA14 apparently she drags on the current processor.

My ram is 6 GB and I think that's enough.

Usually these updates is not supported by any laptop manufacturer.

But I read in some discussions that to some were able to upgrade the Intel processors in laptops own. But your laptop (which model of phone is it exactly?) seems to be equipped with an AMD processor and I guess that the chipset is AMD too.
In this case only the AMD CPUS would be compatible with the AMD chipset.

However, even if the AMD chipset would be favorable to another CPU, I guess you would have problems with BIOS. In many cases, the compatibility of the BIOS might be the main reason why a CPU upgrade would not work.
