  Maybe someone exactly news upgrade HARD drive on this unit, but, in my opinion you can use up to 20 GB hard drives with no problems.

  Unfortunately, this device was not delivered with Windows XP and it s a little bit older.
  I checked a few websites of Toshiba, American and Australian driver Web pages, but there is no available XP driver.

  I think you should check the devices that are installed on your laptop and eventually you'll find an XP driver under different notebook series.

  But if not then I guess you have to use the XP OS without drivers Toshiba ;(

• Satellite 1800-400 does not start, or crashes after upgrading RAM

  I have the original configuration of RAM for the S1800-400 with 120 MB. I bought a 256 MB RAM with the following description: EXT256-3069/JR, MEM 256 MB RA Toshiba Satellite PRO 4600 series C650, PIII-7500/750/800 #PA3069U (I think the brand is Transcend).

  When I put this slot in the machine, keeping the original and start the computer, it does not start, either on the initial screen of freezing before downloading anything either or that goes to the screen where you can start it in safe mode, but then it does not start.

  I removed the new RAM and it works well again.

  What can be the problem:

  (1) is this new RAM is not compatible with the computer? Based on the selections of the internet service provider, it should be (it's a Portuguese company with their own memory configuration options).

  (2) the computer can work with the original 120Mo and the new 256 MB, or should it be both the same size/brand?

  (3) is there any other problem that I don't have?

  I agree with feliks.
  The module is not compatible and not taken in charge can be responsible for your problem.
  The best way is to use the Toshiba recommended of the memory modules.

  If you check the manuals for Satellite 1800, you will see that this camera comes with different drives. One of them is SD-R2002. Google all over the place. You will find a lot of online shops where you can order one. Another solution is the Toshiba service partner.

• With Satellite Pro M-series LCD projector problems

  I use a Toshiba Satellite Pro M series for more than a year. I would like an answer to a problem that I've had since I bought my laptop. When I use a LCD (beemer) projector to watch movies on the big screen, he seems to be a problem. When I choose to show my desktop on screen you there is no problem. When I open a video file, divx or just a DVD I can see the movie on the screen of my laptop, but I don't see on the projection screen. It is only black. When I choose the mode full screen, there is always the same prob. Very strange because when I chose the projector as 2nd screen and I slide the film into the second screen, I can see the movie on the projection screen. The only thing that I hate divx and mediaplayers readers when you select full screen on the second screen, the film jumps on the first screen (the one on my laptop). I tried all the codecs and other things. Nothing seems to work.

  Has anyone treats these problems before? Please let me know if anyone knows how to solve this problem.

• Card driver problem its satellite 2800-400 with XP - SP2

  I upgraded my Satellite 2800 400 to XP - SP2 and my sound card driver does not work with SP2 aperently. I downloaded the latest driver I can find and it's 5.12.1.5245 since 2002, but this driver does not work with the Skype program. I get a massage that the sound card driver doesn't suport SP2.
  How can I solve this problem without deleting the SP2 update.

• Satellite Pro L Series - lack of strikes

  I have a Satellite Pro L Series with keyboard, mouse, etc. connected via a Toshiba "USB 2.0 Port Replicator II". When I use the keyboard, occasional keys are ignored (so I have to go back after you type anything to insert strikes ' % is). Also, from time to time a key combination is repeated constantly until I intervene to stop it.

  This does not occur when I use the computer without the port replicator, so the problem seems to relate to the port replicator itself. EDT doesanyone experience a similar problem, or ideas on how to fix it?

  The USB keyboard is maybe defective. Have you tested on another PC?

  Bad drivers can also cause. If you have installed drivers/utilities keyboard, or a mouse Logitech/Microsoft/other, uninstall them. They may be in conflict with the default drivers.

  New to this forum I bought an old laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300 series recently as a starter machine for my son. The computer is currently connected to the internet using 3Com Megahertz 10/100 LAN PC Card PCMCIA 3CCFE574BT with dongle connected through hub speedtouch.

  Can someone tell me if there is a PC wireless card that I can use with this machine without having to connect wires in the hub.

  As far as I know, the machine does not support the Wlan and has not been equipped with all Wlan cards.
  If you want to connect the computer to the WLan router then I would recommend using a USB WiFi key that would be the simplest solution.

  There are different sticks USB Wlan that supports different Wlan standards; 802.11 B or G, you must choose one that is compatible with your WLan router.

  All successful one satisfactory to a Satellite 1800 400 upgrade or similar (384 MB of RAM, 20 GB HD, 800 MHz Celeron) of Win ME?

  Would prefer to upgrade to XP Pro, but pure install 2nd choice.

  If I have the HD format for a clean install, an updated XP version would recognize the recovery CD Toshiba a legitimate copy of the ME - I've heard that there may be problems?

  I have the intention to upgrade the BIOS and collect all the drivers available for this model proposed by Toshiba for XP, but will there still be problems with all the material?

  Toshiba drivers must be loaded in a special order, and that is during or after installing XP?

  XP is likely to be faster or more slow/about the same thing as ME, with above hardware specifications?

  All advice welcome, because I have not upgraded the OS on a laptop before, and the potential problems seem more important than with desktop computers.

  I put t not see why Windows XP Home edition should not be working on your device correctly. On this forum I have read many topics where users present on Windows XP Home edition on the old models as yours.

  Please see the download page for Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp and you will find drivers for Windows XP Home edition.

  After installing WXP install display and sound driver first. Then install other drivers of material. The next step is installation of Toshiba stuff:
  Common modules
  Controls
  Energy-saving
  Public services.

  It is important to install common modules like the first.

  What do you mean exactly by farm down?
  The laptop turns off automatically once the WiFi (switch) card is turned on?

  I put t think this would cause obsolete WLan driver, this sounds like a hardware problem.
  In case it of not possible to use the internal WiFi card, I recommend to use an external USB WiFi dongle.
  Would be the best option

  PS: all the drivers for old Toshiba laptops are placed on the page of the Toshiba UE driver.
  You will need to search the archives (in the product Type click Archive) for a list of the old series of laptop computer.

  I m not 100% sure, but I think the locations of memory could be placed either at the bottom of the device or hidden under the keyboard!
