Satellite 4090xcdt: Exchange of conventional memory

Hello

I got laptop repair Toshiba Satellite 4090xcdt.
It turns out that managers be damaged (I scanned program Memtest-86 v.3.3) error after Exchange came out continually.

It turned out that the laptop has a component of 64 megs more and it just, it causes errors.
My question is the following: is the framework integrated or well placed somewhere in the envelope?

If the first possibility, it was he able him to turn off {np. the PIN on the plate (I biosie search - the lack of results), if the second how oneself for him to obtain and take upon himself.}

I'm sorry for the language...

It of very difficult to understand what you mean but I think that you want to update the memory.
AFAIK This oldie was equipped with internal memory of 64 MB.
If you want you can upgrade memory for max 192 MB (64 MB + 128 MB)

You can use the PA2062U 128 MB SDRAM module.
These modules are very rare, because the new series of notebooks don't support this type of modules!

  • SOLVED: Why don't Satellite 4090XCDT does not start with DVD-R/W drive?

    Hello
as I said in the other thread that has already been closed, I bought a used Satellite phone who would not start of 3rd party DVD - RW (Quanta Storage SDW-042) included, even if Windows couldn't read well enough.

I found out why, starting with the help of the user answers in the other thread.

In the user manual, there is a description in the capitel on the configuration of the system about tconfig, which proved to be a valuable indication: HDD = Primary IDE (1F0H/IRQ14) (...), CD = secondary IDE (170 H/IRQ15). Compared to my desktop, it seems to me that two readers need to be masters on no. 1 and no. 2 cable, not as master and slave on the same cable from HARD drive. So, my CD-ROM would probably be master.
Then I did the research further into the issue and found out, that there is no CD-ROM where select things cable if they are master or slave. Then I found in
http://www.dschen.de/laptop_brenner/ a note in his Toshiba Satellite Pro 4290, seemed to be no Cable Select and his planned book on the CD (or DVD player, he wants to use) as a master.
CSEL means that 47 Pin is connected to the Earth, which he did by applying a drop of Tin from Pin 47 to 49, pine, which is also Pin 47. I tried the same thing and disassembled the DVD drive that was in my notebook. (My record to disassemble my laptop and all editing again properly is now gone in 50 minutes). And know what, my Satellite 4090XCDT can now boot from the DVD-RW!

To perform the task, I needed a screwdriver of the watchmaker to open the DVD RW (three live, then you need to insert a PIN to open the tray and see the back), a 12 Volt type iron pin solder for SMD and I ordered the strap of welding with a stereo microscope, so this task is not negligible. See the link mentioned to know what pins are bridged (sorry, the website is in German but the picture is clear: in the top row of pines, only you can see, the 2nd and the third from the right). And of course with a replacement part "scrap", you could give your laptop a second life, but you run a risk, because you may not know what you have, master or slave (for firmware or hardware), broken in any case, select cable - and one other Web site indicates that they looked up to 17 variants of firmware in exactly the same drive , depending on what laptop, it was intended for use.

Nice display. Thank you very much.

  • Satellite 4090XCDT - where can I get drivers?

Do anyone know where I can download srivers to a Satellite 4090XCDT, I really need to get the graphics driver and the driver audio perticaulrly.
I tried Toshiba sites and they are completely unnecessary.

    Can anyone help?

    Hello!

You can get all the drivers for that laptop to the Toshiba page, but you should look in * Archives *.

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

On the first box, type product you choose * Archives * rather portable. All that s! ;)

  • Satellite 4090xcdt - Question about hardware upgrade?

    Hello!
I want to upgrade the hardware in my old satellite 4090xcdt so I want to know what is possible.
    1. HARD drive: is there a maximum or something else?
2 DVD: is it possible to replace the CD on a dvd player? How can I remove the cd player?
3 CPU: is it possible to replace the CPU with a bit more recent? If so, how?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello

This unit is an oldie. It s about 7 years and as far as I know it has been bundled with a 4 GB HARD drive.
Unfortunately I put t believe that more HARD drive be recognized on this laptop.
The series XCDT supports 4GB max and XDVD series supports hard drives 6 GB.
Xdvd models were shipped with a DVD - rom drive and these models have been supported: SD-C2102 and SD-C2202
In addition, it is not possible to upgrade the processor.

  • Satellite 4090xcdt / question about CPU upgading & batteries

    Hello

I just joined the forum. Looks really good.

I inherited a satellite 4090xcdt (PAS409EYX-ENX). He had 4 gig ' ish HDD, Celeron CPU (300 or 400 MHZ?), 64 MB of RAM and win 98.

me and my boyfriend has replaced the HARD drive with 80 GB model (the original was on his last breath), upgrade of RAM as it could by adding a key to 256 MB to the current 64 MB.

It helps a lot and allows us to run Win XP Home and now added a wireless card.

    2 questions.

    I can get a Celron M 700 MHz processor - I can it whack in the 4090xcdt?

Is there a good source cheapish of spare batteries - as the mounted one, last about 5 minutes when it is turned off!

Thnaks for the search - any help appreciated.

    Hello

OK, I studied a little and it seems that this laptop has an Intel Celeron 400 MhZ CPU.
To my knowledge it s not advisable to replace the CPU s on the laptop. Some CPU is soldered on the Board.
Of course, I read some reviews on the replacement of the CPU, and some people were able to replace or upgrade. BUT laptop computers did not work properly. Sometimes, don t cooling modules work or BIOS have had problems with the APCI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface).
In my opinion you shouldn't do it! Perhaps you may also damage the motherboard.

Well, you should also always use the Toshiba battery recommended. A bad battery can damage the laptop. As far as I know the battery on this laptop should have these properties:
    Lithium Li-ion 10,8 V, 3, 600 mAh, reference number: PA2487U

You should be able to buy these batteries in every store of the laptop. Of course, you can also contact the Toshiba ASP in your country. Here, you can order the original.

  • Satellite 4090XCDT - no chance to get into the Bios

My Satellite 4090XCDT I have no chance to enter the BIOS.
Press ESC and turn the unit on does not work. Only the bootlogo "in touch tomorrow toshiba" is displayed.

Only the F12 key to work, where I can update the bios.
I did this (version 8.20) and the update of the Bios correctly completed.
Still, I can't enter the Bios.

Sew the CMOS or RTC battery would?

    Hello

Have you tried to press the F2 key too?
I don't know if this laptop supports a Toshiba or the BIOS Phoenix m.
If it s a Toshiba BIOS, you must press ESC and F1 to access the BIOS. If it s a Phoenix BIOS you should try the F2 key immediately after starting mobile phone

  • Satellite 4090XCDT - Memory Upgrade help needed

    Hello reader,.

I own a Toshiba Satellite 4090 XCDT notebook and it came originally with windows 98SE and 64 MB of ram, but I installed Windows 2000 pro and I need to upgrade the memory, I did some Google research on the specs of this laptop and found that this machine is capable of 192 MB of ram , but there is one memory slot, how is possible to get this upgrade when require sticks of memory 128 + 64 = 192 MB, that would mean I'd need two memory sticks to reach the range of 192 MB, from what I see here is therefore the only memory of memory bank.

Could someone please point me in the right direction and provide me a solution to my problem, any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers MagicBytes :D

When the memory is empty, the amount of memory is reported?

If its 64 MB, then you simply install a 128 MB module to achieve 192 MB

  • Satellite L850 - exchange of RAM and valid warranty

As the title I want to know I will lose my warranty if I change ram by myself?

I have Satellite L850-1V8 (I can't find it on the site official Toshiba but anyway no is PSKDNE) and if you can tell me who can RAM I put?

    Hello

I found some info base for your laptop model. According to specification for laptop, that your machine can be upgraded up to 16 GB and you can use memory modules live 4 X 8 GB max.
    Rams compatible are:
    2 GB DDR3-1333-PA3918U-1M2G
    4 GB DDR3-1333-PA3918U-1M4G
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find compatible 8 GB of RAM, even on the support page of Kingston. But I think that the info you can get from the Toshiba service provider in your country.

Return to the upgrade of RAM. I guess that your laptop has 4 locations of memory. Two of them are placed at the bottom of your machine under guise of memory. You can upgrade memory on these two locations without losing the warranty. How this is also described in paper manuals s user on page 70.
For example, you can put 4 GB modules there are two.

Other two RAM slots are probably under the keyboard and RAM should be exchanged or maintained by authorized personnel only.

    Hello

That means the POST (power on self-test) screen appears; 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM?
All memory is recognized in the BIOS?
If so, then the memory has been recognized correctly and Windows 7 64-bit should be able to use all 8 GB of RAM.

  • Satellite L875D-10R - dedicated video memory - 512 MB only

    Hello

I have a problem with my dedicated video memory. I bought my Toshiba laptop with 2 GB (amd 7640G) dedicated video memory, but it shows that I have only 512 MB dedicated. I tried also test in GPU. It shows also only 512 MB.

Is it maybe problem in point 8.1 of Windows?

    Hello

The Satellite L875D-10R supports 7640 G AMD Radeon HD internal graphic unit. This GPU is part of the processor AMD Quad-Core A8 - 4500M.

Graphics memory depends on main memory. A part of the main memory would be assigned to graphics memory. In the case of 8 GB RAM main GPU can use up to 4083 MB by using the 64-bit system.

You should also know that this will be controlled by the graphics driver and you cannot change it manually.

  • Satellite E105 - Allocation of graphics memory

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite E105-S1402. I recently bought Starcraft 2 and my laptop has almost always slows down the game. I guess that's a problem graphic since everything else on the laptop exceeds the minimum requirements. I thought to increase memory dedicated to graphics card but I don't know how to do it. Can anyone help?

I discovered that, by right-clicking on the desktop (Vista OS) > personalization > display properties > advanced settings, I see the following:

128 MB dedicated video memory. I guess that's the figure I must increase, but I don't know how to do it. Can anyone help.

    Kind regards
    Jarlaxle

    Hello

According to specification for laptop, your laptop has Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with 128 MB - 1342 MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory. This cards don t have some sort of control of memory where laptop user can set how much memory will be used for graphical operations.

If you want to offer more memory for the graphics, you need to upgrade RAM but I think that 4 GB of RAM you should have now is maximum RAM that can be used on your model of laptop.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - second defective memory Slot?

Hi, I'm trying to install 4 GB of memory in a laptop Satellite Pro L300. This kind of thing, I did a thousand times before.

However, every time I install a module of memory in the second memory slot, the laptop will be a blue screen when windows is loaded. Even running memtest (via bootable cd) will result in a block, so it is not for lack of Windows.

I have the latest version of the BIOS installed (1.50)

Each module of memory works perfectly in the main location on its own.

With the help of a single module of memory in the memory secondary slot (even the original 1 GB module) translates the laptop does not even start.

Is this a known issue? Or is it just a second faulty slot?

    Thank you very much!

Maybe it's a non compatible memory module.

What model of laptop you have exactly (L300-xxx)?
    What extra RAM you bought?
    Have you checked the compatibility?

To be honest on this forum you will find many forums where people have described the same problem after upgrade. Most of these problems described was linked to the use of markets and not compatible good RAM modules.
