Satellite 5100 501 and installation of Vista

Hello!

Is it possible to run Vista Business on 5100-501? No problem with drivers?

WBR

I can't say for sure if this is possible or not, but I know with certainty that the Satellite 5100 is not Vista supported for laptop and Toshiba will not offer a Vista driver for this older model laptop.

If you test it please report results.

  • Satellite A100 - 784 PSAANE: Installation of Vista Edition Home Premium processor in a box

Hi guys, I would like to ask you a difficult question for me :)

I have Toshiba Satellite A100 - 784 PSAANE with Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit OEM Czech and
DVD from Toshiba product recovery. I converted (boxed) Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 Eng as a gift
There are. And now to the point :) - I would like to install this new Vista Home Premium instead of
    Home base OEM.

1.) am I allowed to install Home Premium without any problem? (I'm worried the WinRE partition)

2.) if I can't do it because of the WinRE partition, can I save this partition and remove it?

(3.) if I do, I am able to download all the drivers from Toshiba site driver Toshiba (value
added package for the most part)?

4.) I am able to download all the utilities Toshiba?

5.) if I use the product Recovery DVD in the future (with this Home Basic OEM), it will work if WinRE partition
    is deleted?

    Thank you for your response.

    Hello

    (1) you can install the new Vista easily. When installing new Vista installation program should create a new WinRE partition too. If don t be worried. But I recommend creating a backup of your important files such as mp3, photos, etc...

    (2) you can do the installation should be possible and should go smoothly. But don t forget to include the SATA drivers that are necessary to recognize the HARD drive. On the Toshiba page, you might find the Intel Storage Manager that contains the SATA driver. Include the driver during the installation procedure using the F6 key.

    (3) Yes, Vista drivers should appear on the page of the European driver Toshiba.

    (4) see point 3 ;)

    (5) the product recovery DVD will format the whole HARD drive. It will delete the partitions and all will remove the HARD drive. And it will also create the new WinRE partition. Simply said; the Toshiba Vista recovery DVDs will fix the laptop back to factory settings

    Hi jm,

the BIOS of Satellite 5100 503 could only be changed with the Toshiba HWSetup in the Panel!

When you press the power button to launch the Notepad you can just press ESC, when the Red Toshiba logo appears, the default value of the BIOS!

  • Satellite P300D-13N and Installation of XP problems (Sata driver)

    Hello

I have some problems with my XP Downgrade.
I tried to integrate the Intel Storage Manager driver in my XP CD, but unfortunately it did not work.
Probably because I've been incorporating all THE drivers, who were available, not only who should work for my chipset.
Anyway, in one of the threads of this forum, there is a link to [THIS how-to | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm] and I think I found my problem...

[Here: http://s5.directupload.net/images/080904/2eptrpzs.jpg] is a screenshot of my (sorry to make it in German) Device Manager preinstalled Vista.
As you can see, there is no information about the Version of controller.

So my question is, WHAT chipset is built into my laptop, because it is due to the fact that Intel drivers do not work AND there is no information on any Intel-inverter speed, I have no idea, I have to integrate into the XP CD to get my XP Installation working drivers. :(

    Help :(

    Thank you

    Hello

To avoid errors, Toshiba has created a little reminder that will appear on the screen very often and I don't really understand why you didn t read this and take it seriously.
Anyway, if you have installed has Vista visit the Toshiba support under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com page > support & downloads. You will find everything you need. Just choose your model of laptop.

Before starting installation, check to see if it has listed document Instructions of facilities. If so, please check and install all the stuff following this order of installations.

  • Satellite 5100-201 and HW-Setup / Boot-PW

    Hello!

We have a 5100 (XP SP2, just installed freshley, pilots from today at Toshiba, update the Bios from today ' hui) where it it s not possible to access HWSetup or Boot password (essential). No probs defining a super-pw protect hwsetup, change or modify the settings. no error box appears, no error is logged in the event log.

Is the question on this matter, as the get´s a new laptop computer and we won´t release the old with a password on it.

so, the main question is: how to clear the password.

    see you soon
    Ralf

    Hello

You're right about the ESC key. When starting press ESC button and hold the button. Then press F1 and you will enter the BIOS settings. There, you'll be able to create your personal password.

As far as I know that you can create the supervisor password and the user using the Console from Toshiba. Start the console and go to the Security tab.

  • Help! Satellite 5100 - 503 has stopped working!

    Hello!
I have a Satellite 5100 503 and was really satisfied until yesterday.
    Now it has stopped working.
What I did: closed the laptop after work (everything is ok) and it only stems for a while. When I opened the laptop again to continue working, nothing happened.

By pressing the button again (a few seconds), do go away on-sign. No display, no fan, no noise of hard disk in any case (ono/stop). Insert an audio CD and works by pessing the play button! Soundsystem works well.

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

  • Problems of restoration Satellite 5100 503

    Hi all
I have a Toshiba Satellite 5100 503, and its hard drive has malfunctiond, so I had to replace it with a new, but now I can't use the restore CD I got with the computer.
Could someone help me with this?
    Thanks in advance.

    > but continues to load windows
How laptop computer can load windows if the new HARD drive is not contains a BONE?
Or have you installed the Win operating system on any other way?

To me, it seems that the laptop does not start on the recovery CD.
The drive cannot read recovery CD because of the fault of CD or disk failure.

Have you checked whether it of possible to boot from another bootable CD s?

Tip: try to set the BIOS default and safe settings. Then turn on the laptop and press F12 immediately after starting the laptop. The start menu should appear and you should be able to choose the CD as a boot device.

  • Satellite Pro M70-113: cannot install Vista graphics driver and lines appears on the display

    Hello

I have satellite pro m70-113 with ati x 700 graphics card.

When I installed vista, he installed the default drivers for the x 700 'mobility radeon x 700-microsft Corp.-WDDM '.

I've updated the display drivers for vista, that released by toshiba 2 days back... but the driver is not updated to the latest version, only the catalyst control center is installed when I ran the update of the driver of toshiba.

The problem is that whenever I put my laptop in standby or hibernation and resume... the screen shows thin lines vertical/horizontal... and I can't use the laptop... and I have to still put the system to sleep, just to hope that it is not blocking the screen this time...

This problem is 25% of the time only when resume...

This problem is not resolved by the update driver for toshiba has released a few days back... as is not installs the drivers (I can't even install the drivers with the option "update drivers" of Device Manager and select file driver update from toshiba.) It says windows find new driver, but could not install the driver... Contact the manufacturer...)

This snap shows the problem... : http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/2783/12042007366copyod1.jpg

I updated the driver from an earlier version of catalyst, as it is downloaded from the ati site before that toshiba has released the update... this time it updates some 8. XXX version but the screen problem remains...

Second, this update of the driver leaves me not sleep my system... the process starts for a sleep, but go back to the locked screen without making sleep ever... so I have no choice to get stuck with the default Windows... drivers having only the problem of the screen... and not the problem of sleep...

    Anyone here with a solution?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I have Satellite M70-159 and I noticed the same thing several times. For most Vista works well but I don't remember cases in which the described problem occurs. I was just curious on M70 Vista and have had no time to intensive testing.

Anyway, it will be interesting to know if you have already updated the BIOS to the latest version 5.10. If this is not the case to do this and watch carefully if the problem persists.

  • Cannot start XP installation on Vista Home Premium preinstalled Satellite L40-139

    Here's the problem:

I bought a new Toshiba Satellite L40-139 in Austria and comes preinstalled Vista. OK, Vista is in German, and I don't know German. But I made a choice to learn German and to start using a Vista. After a month Vista drives me crazy (no language, just for Vista) and I want to just install XP. I didn't need something more.
I spent more then five days trying to archive this, but without success and I am disappointed, much.

I put aside all types of teaching and I did a lot of things, but none of them helped me.
So the problem is like this:
I made the partition for XP, so I have two partitions as: Vista (C), (D) XP and Datas (G) and my CD/DVD (E :).
I activated just boot from the CD/DVD, but when I insert the CD and start the installation of Vista it tells me something like this:
Press any key to boot from CD...
When I do that, I get a message, which is very fast where it says something like that, (I'm not quiet sure what it says because it's fast):
    Checking your configuration...
After that, nothing happens, don't know why, I just get black monitor and CD/DVD does not work anymore?

It's driving crazy me and I can't install XP.
It seems that does not recognize the CD/DVD, and I tried with several XP bootable CD/s and they work on my desk.

Can someone help, please, because I'm going crazy?

If you have installed XP on this notebook L40 Vista you need a BIOS update to the XP version. All that s

Do you mean that the HARD drive is not visible for the installation of Vista?

  • Satellite P100-102 works badly since the installation of Vista

    Hello!

I installed Windows Vista on my Toshiba p100-102 (A3E) but I had a 'small' problem. In each 3D app, I had a lot of shifts and slowdowns. I think it's a problem with the graphics card and I think the grapics card fan works slow since installing vista. Thus it reduces the mhz for a few moments (1 minute at) (I think, I'm not shure)

so... anyone have any idea what I can do? Maybe should I use an alternativ graphics driver?

SRY for my bad English = /.

    Oxford

    Hello

did you properly installed all the drivers for your system? It s absoulutely necessary that everything is correctly installed and configured.
Another thing is: Joanie to install the latest version of the bios, because I had a problem with my Satellite A100 after installation of Vista and I was able to solve it with my bios update.

Regarding the graphics drivers, I can give you some links that might help you with your performance problems:

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
    http://www.OmegaDrivers.NET/

Try these links and you will find drivers for your VGA. And please look carefully, a lot of people I have given the link tell me that they don t find anything, but the drivers are there.

    Welcome them

I'm afraid that's true. Satellite Pro 6000 is old enough for laptop and it will not supported in Vista. Install Windows XP Home edition and enjoy your life.
