Satellite 5105-series, serious problem

Hello
Lately strange sth happened to my Toshiba 5105. It was working perfectly fine until when it comes crashing (I mean suspended), so I turned it off to reboot the system (while Win XP caused it). Unfortunately my toshiba did not turn new; /. It's all leds in front and cdrom power battery sense work, while no signs of hdd not led. Just turn but black white screen stay all the time. I hear the silent sound of speakers as usual, but nothing more, he remains dead... I heard it could be the bios, I tried to reset the cmos, but no results. Later on I tried remove Hdd and bring it back, but still nothing. Finally and most importantly, I have unscrewed all the lapotop due to the abolition of the graphics card (seen on other forums). I did, fortunately, it worked for a day, but / and previous situation repeated. Now the removal of the video card helps not at all. Could someone possibly tell me what it is, or could be. I'm out of warranty so please help me. Thank you

  • Satellite 5105-S501 keyboard problem

After that I replaced my 40 GB hard drive with a 100 GB hard drive (the old frozen drive), I had a lot of problems with my keyboard.
When I type, I find that the letters 'i' with tab back until a strange moment, the letter 'u' can tab forward, other letters will do other strange things.

I tried to clean under the keys, but that has not worked. It is very frustrating. (While typing this, the cursor is passed to a word in the first sentence, jumped 3 characters to the left, but also jump at the beginning of the line, really weird).

All ideas will be highly appreciated.

    Hello

Have you installed the Toshiba Recovery CD?
This problem appears before replacing the HARD drive?
Maybe the new HARD drive with the large size has a bad influence on the keyboard.
I read some messages in the forum, and it seems that sometimes, a new update of the BIOS might resolve these issues.
Please make sure you use the good BIOS and the correct procedure to upgrade the BIOS.

The other possibility is that you did something wrong when replacing the HARD drive.

  • Re: Satellite P200 (PSPB6E) - keyboard problem

    Hello

I have a keyboard with Satellite P200, series PSPB6E problem.

Keyboard seems to generate Press Page Down constantly, although nothing has been paid to this subject.
It is even difficult to turn on laptop, because it produced consecutive beeps and prevents the computer from starting.

Sometimes some keyboard characters do not work, and in the second time it works. Sometimes same PgDown works as expected.
Ĺ’uvres for additional keyboard, but it also receives PgDown keyboard of the laptop.

Now, I can't insert any sentence in this post, because PgDown will move the cursor down.
Laptop is under warranty. Should I enable it?

I note that no. LIQUID is poured on the keyboard.

On the keyboard of the computer laptop not work keys A, B, N, LEFT SHIFT, INPUT, same brief moments where PgDown keys not dumping. Sometimes even these key works!

    Best regards

    Great news, buddy! :)

I also have good experience with my ASP. They fixed the laptop as soon as possible and the repair took only a few days. It's also free.

  • Satellite A210 - 11K - serious starting problems

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A210 - 11K which has recently developed serious problems with start up. It makes a very loud beeps when I turn on the laptop.

Sometimes, the automatic recovery feature manages to recover the boot process and I can use the laptop as usual. But, at other times, I get a message indicating that automatic recovery could not repair the beginning upward and then I have to turn off the power for a day or two and try again.

The laptop also sometimes stops working after about half hour usage.
    Please can someone help?

    Hello

To be honest, the issue described doesn't sound like a software / system related problem, but nevertheless I think that you should try the s for laptop system recovery using the Toshiba recovery disc (of course if it is available).

In case you n t have this recovery media, I recommend you try the system reset using Microsoft own disc. essential drivers are available on the Toshiba driver page.

If the system recovery would not work, a hardware problem (HARD drive?) may be the reason why the laptop can not boot the system properly. But it is just a presumption

However, I think that's a good point to begin troubleshooting

I can't turn on the computer, because there no charge in the battery in any case help would be greatly appreciated.

Power light flashes is probably a sign that he has a serious problem with electronic control gear.
Unfortunately, these issues cannot be resolved by the owners of the laptop.

You should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider, explain the situation and ask for help.

  • Satellite 5105-S501 - Bad checksum (rom)

    Hi I have a Satellite 5105-S501.

When I start it say bad checksum (rom), press F1 to the default settings.

After I press F1 it says I have to insert systemdisc and press a key.

    What is a systemdisc?

Can someone please help me solve this problem or I have to hand it get fixed?

    Sincerely

    Peter Hammarstrm

"Checksum error/omission" may appear for different reasons.

    A question:
You access the BIOS after pressing F1?

Generally, this error appears if the CMOS battery is empty. In this case, you must connect to the AC adapter to the laptop and should leave it for about 20 to 48 hours connected to AC power.
Then try again to access the BIOS and set the defaults.

    Check it out

  • Satellite 5105-S702 Touch ED error during the startup process

When I start my Satellite 5105 - S702 laptop with the v8.4.0.24 of antivirus from Computer Associates (CA) software is turned on, I get the following at the end of the boot process error message:

    Error affected

Recovery of the THotkey failed. "
    Part took place - TouchED.exe - (THotkeyFindProc)
    Function failed - FindWindow)
    Error code: 0 x 00031402, 0x00000002

However, when I disable the CA antivirus software and restart the laptop, I don't get the error message.

Thus, it would seem that the CA AntiVirus software causes this error message.

Would be grateful if someone could give advice if they have this problem with this laptop model, or the Satellite 5105-S701, or European equivalent model 5100-603, and how they have rectified it.

    Thank you

    AlanCB

    Hello

    I agree with you.
In my view the installed (CA) anti-virus software is not fully compatible with the Toshiba Hotkey Utility or the software anti-virus doesn't recognize properly and can not handle.

CA anti-virus does not for me but maybe you could set some parameters to ignore the Hotkey Utility from Toshiba.

Maybe it helps if not I recommend you contact Computer Associates support team.

  • Satellite M40 PSM40E - big problem

    Model: Satellite M40-237 (PSM40E)

To start from the beginning. Around a year ago, the laptop began to restart occasionally. Overheating is not the cause, sometimes randomly - even when I just turn on the laptop. I searched the net for the question and found that many laptops Toshiba have reboot problem. It seems that if the portable computer "thinks" it's overheating as sometimes it is not just a reboot, it stops, but leave the cooler work.

Since there is no solution to the problem I just use the phone normally, ignoring the ocassional restarts. Sometimes, he would spend months before it restarts, sometimes it would happen a few times a day. Recently, it has started to happen a lot, so I decided to clean the laptop again to make it East of cooling perfectly. Coolers are clean and I applied a new thermal paste on the processor, chipset and graphics card. When I turned it on it has restarted several times and then it worked fine for a few days.

Today it restarted again, to be precise, he stops and left cooler work (although it was obviously not overheating). I turned it off by removing the battery and it works again, something I've done many times before, when this happens - usually it stops just restart later. But this time it would be closed again, I turned and he left like that for awhile.

And here's the last problem, something that has never happened before. Now when I turn on the turn it restarts immediatelyover and more. It goes no further than the toshiba welcome screen I can see briefly.

I tried a few things to eliminate a potential cause of this problem:
-It works with or without battery
    -removed the optical drive
    -removed HARD drive
-removed/changed the order of the RAM chips

It just keeps restarting, so as much as I think the problem might be connected with:
-power - maybe my diet started to malfunction about a year ago when this problem started, and it's completely broke down somewhere now?
-battery - it is a lot (it's on about 40% of the original force), this could be the problem? But, the tour should work without the battery at all, so I don't see how
-motherboard - something could be broken on the motherboard, this case, it is virtually impossible to find and repair the fault
-temperature sensors - they are showing the correct time but since the round is underway down to 'cool', there is perhaps a problem that makes the tour think it is overheating. If this is the case, is it possible to disable the detectors somehow?

If you have experience with something similar or tips please answer. As it is, it seems that I can just recover the removable parts and throw everything in the garbage :-/

    HELO drool

Long story. What to say? Friend of mine has Satellite M40 for a year now and it still works fine without any serious problems. May be time to cleaning it but he must know what he wants to do with his laptop.

In any case when the is in your sentence followed by validation
    > so I decided to clean the laptop again so that it cools perfectly. Coolers are clean and I applied a new thermal paste on the processor, chipset and graphics card.
is there for me, end of story. Laptop has been opened, no one knows what you did exactly, did you all following some manuals.

Sorry but I do not see a solution for you. Or you can ask for professional help and pay for it or sell the laptop on eBay. Please do not throw it garbage. ;) earn money with it.

  • Driver NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go to Satellite 5105 - S901 display!

    Hi all
I Toshiva Satellite 5105 - S901 and knows some proplems with running the latest games, perhaps because of the pretty old driver Nvidia GeForce4 440 Go display. Laptop was purchased in 2002, and since that time video-drivers were not updated.
So, where can I get the?
NVIDIA does not provide drivers for chipsets Go and send customers to the manufacturers. But on tosiba.com I found the drivers that have been placed there exactly in 2002. My laptop already has these.
But where to get the new?
I do not think that he in no heas driver-implementation to date was carried out by Toshiba for three years for Nvidia GeForce4 440 Go display driver.
    Well, need some advice.
    Sincerely your of
    Alex.
P.S.:laptop has again good perfomance (P4 - 2 Hz, 2 GB of RAM, 64 MB video).

    Hi Alexis,.

I had problems with my graphics card ATI Radeon runs is not one some games, so I contacted the guys at support of TDK who suggested I should use the latest drivers from http://www.omegadrivers.net/.

Unfortunately I could not the ATI drivers to load on my laptop, but maybe you'll have better luck with the NVIDIA ones.

I agree with you that it is a great shame that Toshiba don't do not update their graphics drivers.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite 5105-607 battery issues

Hi, I bought for my satellite 5105-S607 a refurbished battery. Unfortunately, this lasts more than 6 hours battery charge from 3% to 100%! Only, every morning when I start the PC after it was extinguished during the night, I found it has lost 8% of its power. Someone suggested to update the BIOS, but my PC is already have the most current BIOS for this model (Toshiba_1510v19_Bios). Can anyone help?

    Hello

Sorry, but I must ask you something: what's your problem now? Long time to recharge or lose 8 percent of capacity during the night?

  • Satellite A300-23F motherboard problem

    Hello!

I have a Toshiba A300-23F that last week, refuses to turn on.
The power turned on but when I press the power button it does not illuminate.
As my warranty has expired, I gave him a technician to find out what the problem is and he informed me that the graphics chip is damaged but so the whole motherboard must be replaced.
The possibility to give Toshiba to replace my motherboard is not an option, of course, because they require 300-400 for it. I bought the laptop 1000, 2.5 years so it is obvously out of the question.

However, my problem is that I can't find any card handed to nine or such parent on ebay or other shops. Any suggestions on that?

Do you think I have all the options to the left or should I go and take a hammer and release my anger on this high level sourrealistic joke manyfactured from Toshiba.

    > However, my problem is that I can't find any card handed to nine or such parent on ebay or other shops. Any suggestions on that?

You must use a motherboard that specially left for Satellite Pro / Satellite A300 series.
The new motherboard is really an expensive part. Perhaps you could get a second hand A300 with a card mother work and then you get good mobo.

But its your own decision, I got a laptop from another manufacturer who died after 3 years of use.
It was obviously a malfunctioning motherboard :(
I tried to solve this problem because of the price of the motherboard I sold the laptop died and bought a new

  • Satellite L100 series starts the error message

I have a Satellite L100 series PC laptop I've had for a few years now and he's got a problem. When I boot it it goes as far as the windows loading screen then flashes blue for a mili second then restarts. I try to start safe mode, and it produces a long list that has the following text:

Multi (0) Disk (0) rdisk (0) partition drivers then sys various titles of files. After that it appears for a minute or two then restarts again.

I searched the web to find what is the problem and the general answer that I can find is that the hard drive is faulty. I also found that the BONE may need to reinstall I try first before buying a new hard drive.

    My question is this:

Can anyone confirm that this is the hard drive which is a failure?
If Yes, is this the right hard drive for the L100 series laptop PC: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145130

    Any help is very appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    Hello!

Yes, it could be that the HARD drive is faulty.
So I would check this with a special tool.

    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test, you can test your HARD drive. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. Then you can test the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

    Good bye

I don't know if the 5105 s501 is the L series - I can't find any information anywhere, maybe someone could push me in the right direction.
