Satellite A10-131 CPU upgrade

I want to change the CPU in my machine. I wonder if she would support PIV - M 2, 6 GHz with 512 KB L2 or PIV Centrino 2 GHz with 2 MB of L2 cache. Can someone help me? I know that I can swap the CPU in this machine, because I did it earlier. I just want to know if it supports these processors I mentioned.

Thank you
Marek

Hello

As much as I know this device was delivered with an Intel Celeron 2.5 GHz 400 MHz FSB Processor
Usually it s not advisable to change the processor on the laptop because of an overheating issues and pre-installed software (ie. utility chipset). For most the CPU is fixed on the motherboard and you cannot remove the cpu.
He should also know that if you change the CPU or you open Notepad, you will lose the warranty.
In this case, you can do any replacement at your own risk!

I want to improve my laptop with a new processor.
(Material) socket ist a 479. But when I ask about my current CPU Intel, he said my it's a 478.
The Chipset is an Intel 852/855 GM/GME, Intel ChipsetUtility.

I'm a bit confused on the different data on the socket.
    With processors will fit?

    Hello

I m not sure about the CPU socket in the Satellite A10 but I use the tool called Everest home edition and this tool provides all the necessary information on the type of socket and other important information from the CPU.

But as far as I know the Satellite A10 and Pro A10 has been bundled with hardware specifications different and different CPU's.
It seems the Pentium 4-M Intel and the Intel Mobile Celeron CPUS are compatible:

    Mobile Intel Pentium 4-M model
Basic operation a processor 1.80/1.90/2.00/2.20GHz Pentium 4 with clock internally 1.80/1.90/2.00/2.20/1.20GHz, 400 MHz bus, and 1.30/1.20V
    Mobile Intel Celeron model
Basic operation of bus 400 MHz, a 1.80/2.00/2.20GHz with a clock Celeron processor internal 1.80/2.00/2.20GHz and 1.30V

But I put really recommend t the upgrade of the CPU.
As far as I know the firmware must be updated after the replacement of the processor and motherboard. If you n updated microcode t the CPU will run only at 600 Mhz.

    Be careful!

  • Satellite A10-131: really slow start

It takes about 15 minutes (!) for my Toshiba Satellite A10-131 to start. It's really frustrating when you are in a train or some other place where you need your laptop for a short period. I've changed the original with fastest 256DDR ram 1024 GB, I installed all the drivers on the right and most recently, I tried several formats, etc., but doesn't change anything. Does anyone have any ideas? The only thing that I did not try to change have the BIOS setting, mainly because I have no idea how it works :)

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

It s very strange because I've never seen a laptop that starts at 15 min.
It would be very interesting to know if the cleaning Windows OS need also 15 min.
If yes then I guess there is something wrong with the hardware (maybe the motherboard)
Unfortunately, I put t know all the BIOS options that could reduce initialization time.

  • Satellite M60 - issue CPU upgrade

    Hello out there!

    I am a happy owner of a Satellite M60.
I recently installed Win7 pro and nothing works well.

I was offered a new processor Intel M770 and
now, I would like to hear if anyone has any experience changin processor in a laptop.

The M770 have on the same specsas M740 and executes the same 915 chipsets. M770 has a 2.13 Ghz clock and the M740 1.73 revival.

If I swap the processors, my laptop will get faster, or it will explode like a hurricane and disappear into a smokecloud?

    Best regards
    Mogens

    > The M770 have on the same specsas M740 and executes the same 915 chipsets. M770 has a 2.13 Ghz clock and the M740 1.73 revival.

Well, generally the CPU upgrade is a really complicated because of the compatibility of the BIOS history, but I think you have a good chance to get the laptop working with new CPU M770. It belongs to the same family of CPU as the old CPU and chipsets support is the same.
In addition, I think that this laptop overheating not using this CPU of course there is more the dissipation of heat thanks to the fastest performance, but I think that the cooling modules should handle this

Of course, it s just my opinion personal and everything what you would do is at your own risk.

    Good luck

  • Satellite P200-1I4 - CPU upgrade because of virtualization

    Hello!
I have Satellite P200-1I4 and I need Intel CPU virtualization technology, but T2370 does not support. Is it possible to change as T7300 CPU or other with virtualization?

I know, Toshiba does not support upgrades and so forth... I read the FAQ on the change of CPU, but I need options for my laptop!

    Thank you!
    JA? NIS

    Hello

The first point is that CPU upgrade is always risky, because I think that no one can say if the new processor will be supported the mainbaord, BIOS and chipset.
The hardware installed on your laptop works with preinstalled CPU but not with the other s CPU.

The next point is not all laptops have virtualization and the BIOS must also support this. So I guess that your BIOS doesn't have such an option and that means that you cannot use virtualization even if you have a processor that supports this.

  • Password BIOS Satellite A10 131

I bought an old box of voor laptop 15 but he happened to have an unknown bios password, so it does not start.

For almost every Toshiba I can find a solution on the internet, but not for this old A10-131.
Tips and tricks like masterpasswords, dongle on the parallel port (which mij A10 is not!), remove the cmos battery and. etc won't work. Is there anyone who really know the solution for this problem?

There must be a jumper on the motherboard which solve the problem I think. But what date is?
Anyone know the right name (B500 or almost) this rider?

Thank you very much for your answers.

From my own experience that the Toshiba service can remove the BIOS password.
A rider who could do the job does not for me.

    Hello

Theoretically, the new Intel Pentium M Processor 765 2.10 GHz should be compatible with the motherboard, but the fact is that nobody can say it the laptop would be working properly after this upgrade.

One of the main problems could be the heat dissipation. Stronger CPU develops more heat, and this may affect the functionality of the laptop.
In addition the BIOS was not configured for other processors so it could be a problem.

Last but not least as mentioned in the article of Toshiba, the upgrade of the CPU is not supported. So everything can be done simply at your peril!

  • Satellite A10-131 does not start of valuation or any other disc

I have a client who has an A10-131. I had to reload the OS, but the new DVD burner does not start the recovery CD or any other original Windows CD also. Is anyone able to solve this problem. I need to know which solution is possible with such a problem.

    Thank you.

How have you tried to boot from the drive?
Have you changed the boot order in the BIOS?

    Startup options are usually available.
    1. you can press the C key immediately after to computer mobile power to detect CD/DVD drive starts
    2. you can press F12 for the boot menu
    3. you will first change the boot order in the BIOS to ODD

But it s interesting to know if your new ODD is compatible with the laptop
