Satellite P200-1I4 - CPU upgrade because of virtualization

Hello!
I have Satellite P200-1I4 and I need Intel CPU virtualization technology, but T2370 does not support. Is it possible to change as T7300 CPU or other with virtualization?

I know, Toshiba does not support upgrades and so forth... I read the FAQ on the change of CPU, but I need options for my laptop!

Thank you!
JA? NIS

Hello

The first point is that CPU upgrade is always risky, because I think that no one can say if the new processor will be supported the mainbaord, BIOS and chipset.
The hardware installed on your laptop works with preinstalled CPU but not with the other s CPU.

The next point is not all laptops have virtualization and the BIOS must also support this. So I guess that your BIOS doesn't have such an option and that means that you cannot use virtualization even if you have a processor that supports this.

Best thing you can do is to remove the cover for the second HARD drive and see if the HARD drive connector is available.
If this is not the case, there is no possibility to upgrade the HARD drive.

  • Satellite M60 - issue CPU upgrade

    Hello out there!

    I am a happy owner of a Satellite M60.
I recently installed Win7 pro and nothing works well.

I was offered a new processor Intel M770 and
now, I would like to hear if anyone has any experience changin processor in a laptop.

The M770 have on the same specsas M740 and executes the same 915 chipsets. M770 has a 2.13 Ghz clock and the M740 1.73 revival.

If I swap the processors, my laptop will get faster, or it will explode like a hurricane and disappear into a smokecloud?

    Best regards
    Mogens

    > The M770 have on the same specsas M740 and executes the same 915 chipsets. M770 has a 2.13 Ghz clock and the M740 1.73 revival.

Well, generally the CPU upgrade is a really complicated because of the compatibility of the BIOS history, but I think you have a good chance to get the laptop working with new CPU M770. It belongs to the same family of CPU as the old CPU and chipsets support is the same.
In addition, I think that this laptop overheating not using this CPU of course there is more the dissipation of heat thanks to the fastest performance, but I think that the cooling modules should handle this

Of course, it s just my opinion personal and everything what you would do is at your own risk.

    Good luck

    Hello

Usually the CPU upgrade is not possible on laptops because of several reasons.
But as far as I know that this camera was supplied with three different processors:
    Intel Celeron P4 - M (Mobile) 2.0 GHz, 2.2 GHz and 2.4 GHz
Well, I put t know if the CPU was only connected or soldered onto the motherboard.

However, it s not advisable to change the CPU. It is possible that after CPU change the laptop overheating for example.

  • Satellite P200 - need CPU fan replacement

I have a Satellite P200-16V and my problem is on the cpu fan.

I tried to open it, but after the keyboard, hard drive, Rams, OVOCHECK and 40-50 screws and some cables, I realized I have to get out the motherboard and screen mabe and I close it again after 3-4 hours. The cpu fan has been breaking and I don't know what to do.

I am from Greece. If I go to the toshiba in Greece, I can find a cpu fan or any system cpu radiator? Can you help me?

    Hey Buddy,

Looks like the fan needs to be replaced and therefore, you should contact the closest service provider authorized in your country. Guys can order a replacement part and swap it out.

On the Toshiba site, you can find a list of them:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

Sorry, but everything that s what I can say. Here it s only a user forum so I think no one knows the exact number of part or a manual how to take apart the laptop but the ASP can do for you. :)

    Hello

    > RAM will be downrated to a slower speed in the Toshiba or the 880 works perfectly

Sorry, but I don t know what you mean by 880. Do you mean the module 880 Mhz DDR2?

There are different models of Satellite P200, but generally you can use DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300) 200 - PIN SODIMM barrettes

Compatible module runs at 667 Mhz.

    Hello

Theoretically, the new Intel Pentium M Processor 765 2.10 GHz should be compatible with the motherboard, but the fact is that nobody can say it the laptop would be working properly after this upgrade.

One of the main problems could be the heat dissipation. Stronger CPU develops more heat, and this may affect the functionality of the laptop.
In addition the BIOS was not configured for other processors so it could be a problem.

Last but not least as mentioned in the article of Toshiba, the upgrade of the CPU is not supported. So everything can be done simply at your peril!

If Yes, what socket number is it, can I put an i7 inside?...

Thank you for your time and effort should help you

    Hi mate

    I agree with Akuma.
Update CPU is very difficult. The fact is that even if the chipset would support the new processor, it is really hard to tell if the BIOS would be able to manage the new processor.

So, in the worst cases, the BIOS will not work with a new game and wouldn't boot the laptop.

But why you want to replace the CPU in L755? This new model of notebook with a good processor.
Even if you want to put a new processor, you will not notice big performance push so I think CPU upgrade is not really necessary in your case.

    By the way;
    Here's a nice Toshiba FAQ

  • Satellite Pro L100 CPU upgrade

    Hello

    The hope for some advice.

I recently bought a Satellite Pro L100 of second hand, came up with the following configuration.

Celeron M 370, 256 MB Ram, 40 GB drive HARD, Win XP

As the laptop is out of warranty, I disassembled the laptop and upgraded to the following specification.

    Pentium M 735 (SL7EP), 2 GB of Ram, disk HARD 40, Win 7 Ultimate

Everything seems to work perfectly, but he hopes to upgrade the processor more far, to maybe a Core Duo.

I noticed on the Toshiba datasheet (* http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/Contents/Toshiba_uk/EN/Others/SatProL100datasheet.pdf *) for the L100, the configuration of this laptop back to a Core Duo 2400 (though on the motherboard PSLA1)

Only problem I can see is the Core Duo 2400 only comes in a FC-µBGA package, while the L100 seems to have a CF-µPGA socket, a CF-µBGA CPU will correspond to a socket FC-µPGA?

Also, does anyone know if the PSLA4 in my L100 motherboard supports a front side bus to 667 or 533 MHz?

I sent Toshiba direct support - but unfortunately they have advised that because they haven't tested any other CPU on the laptop that they cannot advise me - seems a bit strange response given that they use multiple configurations on the same motherboard.

    Thanks a lot, Vaughn.
    S.Wales, UK.

    > Also, does anyone know if the PSLA4 in my L100 motherboard supports a front side bus to 667 or 533 MHz?

    It depends on the chipset.
As much as I know the laptop supports Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/chipsets/22816

According to the page Intel chipset supports MHz 533/667 MHz FSB and 4 GB RAM support

  • Satellite C645D-SP4133L - CPU upgrade

I have a Toshiba Satellite C645D-SP4133L with a processor AMD C-50, dual core, 1 GHz.
I want to upgrade the processor to a better with more frequency.
Is it possible to do? You recommend me you?

Are you sure you want to take the risk of these updates?
I mean laptop procedure disassembly is not easy and even if you would upgrade the CPU with another supporting a higher frequency, you won't see a performance gain

But a CPU must be compatible with the chipset of the motherboard.
So I was recommended to check the properties of the chipset. Download and install a diagnostic equipment like Everest Home Edition, Sandra Tool or similar tool and check the chip set.

If the chipset would deal with a new processor then you'd have a good chance to make it work, but this does not mean that the laptop would work correctly because of the BIOS. I think the BIOS has not been tested with a different hardware configuration and therefore, there is a risk of compatibility problems.
