Satellite A100-237 - Broken map supply

I bought a laptop "Satellite A100-237" for about a year.
After months, I made a big mistake when I plug the battery bus power supply.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work after him.

When I take it to the Office, they told me that the power Board is broken down.
They asked me to pay $ 500 to fix it.

Now, I live in Syria, and I want to get this card of the Germany.
So I save money.

Can someone tell me if this card exists in Germany and how much it costs?
They can ship it to the Syria?

Please provide me with all possible details, so I can choose the best solution.

Thanks in advance

Hello

I think in your case, only the authorized service provider could help you.

Here on the Toshiba page you can find phone numbers and addresses with the Toshiba authorized service providers around the world.

http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> support download &-> find an authorized service provider

I recommend to contact some FSA in Germany or the Syria and ask for details.

Good luck

  • Problem with the USB ports, coast and Bluetooth in Satellite A100-237

Hello, I own a laptop Satellite A100-237 and I have an annoying problem for quite a while now. The two USB ports in the side as well as the Bluetooth device will not work. What is the bluetooth device is it is simply not recognized by the system, as if it wasn't there (it is said the installation of the driver too) while any device I connect to USB ports side does not work either.
The other two USB ports in the back work very well.

    Hello

Maybe this two ports are really defective, and there is not much to say. You will get your laptop for repair, or you live with it and use the other two USB ports. Sorry, but I see your ad as a report short and not as some to ask for help.

    Bye and good luck!

  • No recovery expert on Satellite A100-237 option?

    Hello

I own a laptop Satellite A100-237 which, after a long struggle with attacks from viruses and Trojans, needs a system recovery. I have a package of product recovery 2-CD with Windows XP Home edition with SP2 and all of the drivers/tools etc and the process is supposed to be pretty simple - but I have a serious issue at hand: Partitions.

My 80 GB HD is divided into two partitions: A 60 GB c: the operating system and general purpose and a 20 GB D: for backups of EXTREME IMPORTANCE. Now that I know I can use a 'expert recovery mode"to recover my system while maintaining the back-ups. Now, it's actually where the problem comes in.

When I boot from the restore CD there is absolutely NO OPTION for the 'EXPERT' YEAR RECOVERY MODE!

Simply, I am greeted by a language selection screen. Spent, the family Windows XP Setup option in English or localized version (Turkish, in my case), in both cases the HD everything is wiped out. Next there is a "Cancel" button and a button "settings". 'Abandonment', as well as the label says, shut down the computer. 'Settings', on the other hand, are more complicated. You are presented with a window with a nice slider which culminates at 76 GB - you are supposed to set a default size installation partition. However, in this case, the HD everything gets wiped out as well - you get only a partition of the installation and the remaining space becomes simply "unallocated". I tried each way for a cost of losing all my backups several times without success.

In both cases there is no option to install the operating system on a predefined partition.

There is no 'expert recovery option' accessible from any where inside the installation routine.

I contacted the local Toshiba customer service and Tech Services. and their response is identical and hilarious: "your hard drive is not intended to be used in partitions. You NEED to recover your system as a single partition. Otherwise you won't be eligible to warranty AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE! »

I'm pretty sure I'm missing something inside this installation routine, and there should be a way to preserve the back-ups and retrieve only the first partition. Any information would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    I understand that you're frustrated.
As much as I know expert recovery mode is not available on the recovery CD because it s a new generation of mobile phones.
As far as I know since 2006, Toshiba laptops come with the new version of the recovery CD. This CD contains the option instead of the normal or expert mode settings.
But in the settings, you should be able to change the size of the HARD disk as in expert mode.

My Satellite phone was delivered with a single partition and I guess that all laptops are delivered also with a single partition (instead of a few Qosmio that uses a Qosmio player on hidden partition). Generally, the recovery CD brings the laptop to factory settings.
I think that every computer made manufacturing only supported hardware issues and not the problems of software (partition is a software problem and does not appear as a factory setting). If you want to do something different on the laptop that you can do, but it s not supported by any computer manufacturing. So I can understand the service guy.

However, the issue of your partition. I think the option settings should allows you to create a new game or to select the partition where the OS is to be installed.
In disk management, you can activate the remaining space and the partition must be visible.
Try to make a backup of your second partition and play with these settings.

  • Satellite A100-237, which is the HARD drive more big, I can install?

    Hello!
Can you guys help me. I have the Satellite A100-237
I would like to buy a new HARD drive (250 GB or 320).
What is the largest HARD drive can I install in this laptop? I couldn't find any info about it.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

The point is that there are no details or info on HARD drive sizes compatible max.
    If we can only speculate.
Is the laptop seems to support SATA hard drives and in my opinion one 250 GB or more should work.
But this is only a personal opinion, and it would be very interesting to know if a HDD 320 would work too.

Please post some comments after you have upgraded the HARD drive.

    See you soon

  • Satellite A100-237: need some information and details

    All,

While seeking to buy a new laptop, I was offered the Satellite A100-237. This laptop is T2400 / 80GB / 512MB with screen 15.4 "and ATI x 1600 video.

I searched in the Toshiba Europe website but could not find any trace for this model. Only when I googled I found that this model is sold in South Africa.

    My questions are:
-What is the similar model sold in Europe?
-Is this model a new or will be interrupted?
    -Is this compatible Vista model?
-Is this compatible Merom (Core 2 duo) model? I know that other manufacturers offer instructions and BIOS update to upgrade Yonah for Merom.
I couldn't find this information on the Toshiba web site.

    Your help is very appreciated.

This model is also sold in Europe (or at least in the South-Eastern and Central Europe).
    It's a new model - April or in May 2006, I think.
He has a capable 'Vista' sticker on this subject, so I guess he can run Vista.
In principle the Intel 945 chipset can support the Core 2 Duo with a simple update of the BIOS. The question is whether the laptop manufacturers that will provide a new BIOS.

The build quality is very good, the only weak point in my opinion is that it comes with only 512MB. 1 GB of RAM would have been a much better companion for the T2400 and X 1600.

  • Satellite A100 - 237 (PSAA9E) - can I improve it with a new 320 GB HARD drive?

    Hello!

I want to switch the hard disk of my Satellite A100-237. It is equipped with 80 GB Fujitsu, 5200 rpm, SATA. I want to install a new one - 320 GB, 7200 rpm, SATA. But I don't know is it supported.

I tried to find information about the possibilities for this upgrade, I could not find anything.

    Thank you in advance!

Don't worry, buddy... I don't see any serious reason why would be supported not the 320 GB SATA HARD drive.
The SATA controller must handle the tough without major problems.

It is important that you use a HARD SATA 2.5 ". The size and speed of the HARD drive should not affect compatibility.

  • Satellite A100-237 / PSAA9 - how to enable AHCI (SATA Native mode)?

    Hello

I have the Satellite A100 - 237 (PSAA9) and I would like to activate the AHCI (SATA Native mode). But in the BIOS there is no settings as AHCI or SATA mode.

Is it possible to enable it in any other way (hidden fixing, utility sw)? Or only new special BIOS for this update (I have the latest 5.90) can solve this problem?

    Thank you for the answers.

No response for the last 5 days. Of course, there is no special hidden parameter or BIOS. ;)

As far as I know that there is no hidden settings and also no special BIOS. If something like that exists perhaps for technicians and non-public use.

  • Satellite A100-237: I don't have the Catalyst Control Center after the installation of the driver

    Hello

I use a laptop Satellite A100-237. 1.83 GHz Core Duo, Ati Mobility Radeon X 1600 512 MB Hypermemory, 1.5 GB of RAM DDR2.
My laptop seems to now use only the own 256 MB RAM (own RAM graphics card).
I bought Need for Speed Carbon and installed on my laptop.

When I tried to open the game, a blue screen appeared for less than 1 second and the system rebooted. Windows said it was a critical mistake and a stopped driver Windows XP for work, so the system is restarted.
I searched on the net for this problem, and the people said that when they pilot updated the problem is resolved.

    I downloaded the 8.241 display driver (download file name: display_xp - 8241.zip) Toshiba - Europe.com.
Driver installed, but when installing ATI Catalyst Control Center, at one time installation process continuing collapsed. I had to end the task after a while.
He said that the driver is installed and system must be rebooted.

Now the game works, which is not the problem, but I do not have the Catalyst Control Center. (Where I recently use to connect other screens to my laptop)
How can I solve this problem?

    Sorry for the long letter,
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello

As suggested above, you can try to restart the installation but I guess that you will not be able to install the graphics driver of ATI origin on the manufacturing site.
You can try to use the omega site ot driver drivers Toshiba orginal...

    @aportakal
Anyway, the ATI MOBILITY RADEON X 1600 is not a memory sheared graphics card and this is why this card does not use the part of the main memory. It supports a 256 MB own memory.

  • Satellite A100-237: Screen Dithered

    Hello
I have problem with my screen on Satellite A100-237. Some colors (many of them; but others appear correctly, without this problem) it seems that halftone, example:

    http://img59.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lcdmg2.jpg
(click again to the original size)

The fill on the left must be a solid color, but you can see a sort of texture (groups of darker pixels) - as if the screen tries to simulate the color, which he was not able to view (technique called dithering, used in gif, for example). When I change the bit to 16 bit depth (I use 32-bit), it's better for some colors (like the one pictured), but he still presists. It's very distracting, especially in videos or games - the image on the screen go, but this 'texture' stays in the same place, so it is easily spotted.

Can I do something with this? Is this a HW or SW fault, or is it considered to be "normal"?
Does anyone have the same problem?
    PLEASE NOTIFY. THX.

    Hello

This problem appears from the beginning and you have installed the operating system from the recovery CD?
If not the case, please use the Toshiba Recovery for the installation of the OS CD.
Also have you tried to update the graphics driver? Please check the version of the graphics driver on the Toshiba driver page. If the new driver is available, please install on your laptop.

One of you using this model of satellite in the face of problems with their CD device in reading, because in many cases, he doesn t even read CDs, although they are all new and untouched sometimes.

My second problem is with the screen. I had my settings of the screen switch power after 10 minutes of no use, what happens is that it turns off but can't not perceive actually new without go to stand by mode that is moving the mouse or pressing the buttons doesn t work. Please help me on this if you can.

Regarding the post about the framing of the screen, I had the same problem when I got this laptop but I traded immediately after you run the msconfig utility and confirmed that something is wrong with the graphics card.

    Hello! I have too A100-237.

I have no problem with DVD player (although I n t use it a lot), but it must depend on what model you have, I have Pioneer, but I know someone who has one * mast (list of readers as possible is in the manual, apparently depends on which model is available at the factory during Assembly).

I have the wide screen of problem too. I had no such problems for awhile, I have normally moved the mouse or based on what that either and he immediately turned his back, but a few days ago the same thing happened to me (and since that always happens) - no response after pressing key or move the mouse, I am using Fn + F3 to suspend-to-ram and turn it on then...

    --------------

The dithering problem - do you mean that you got the phone replaced and a new is not the problem of dithering? If Yes, can you please check the version of the BIOS?

What did you do in the msconfig?
